Welcome Couch to 5kers Group(now closed)
As Jenn summed it up so nicely........here it is............
We will be doing Couch to 5K, starting August 4th, ending the week of October 6th. We will be doing the first week TWICE to help us get started, thereby making a nine week program last ten weeks.
We will be weighing in on Mondays, with an optional weigh-in on Friday for those who want to.
Everyone will be doing the platform of their choice (elliptical, treadmill, street) and will choose their own days on which to run, due to varying schedules."
Here is the group...

CW will update Monday
GW 145ish, not sure
I will start by introducing myself....
I am 32 years old. I need to weigh in because I am not exactly sure how much I weigh. I had lost 9.5 pounds taking me down to about 175, but I gained some of it back. I am a stay at home mom of four kids. My oldest son is 4, my boy/girl twins just turned 3 and the baby is almost 4 months. I would like to get down to 135 pounds. I want to be thin but still curvy with some meat on my bones. My husband of almost 8 years has a long commute to work, so he always gets home around 6:30(if I am lucky)to 7:00 monday thru friday, which doesn't really give me alot of time to myself during the day. And then on the weekends we try to squeeze in all the stuff we don't have time to do during the week. I love movies, reading, gardening, and some other stuff that I really don't remember what since having kids..but I know that I used to be an interesting person:).
I am really looking forward to this couch to 5k thing. I want to feel proud of myself. I want to be able to do something that not alot of people can do. Maybe I just want to feel a little special! Ok. Thats about it. Looking forward to meeting all of you. I'll get my starting weight on Monday!
I'm also 32. I started CC at 186 in 2006 and went down to 172 by the end of 2006. I was able to keep that weight off until this past Oct/Nov. I gained 20 lbs this school year, mainly from stress eating. I was able to get down to 187 a few weeks ago but I am not sure where I am now, so I will weigh in Monday.
I am a high school teacher with 3 kids. My husband works in construction and we have a summer business at the shore. As a result he works 7 days a week also leaving me with very little time alone. Throw in Tuesdays and Thursdays when I watch my neice and nephews for the summer and I am left with even less time.
I want to feel comfortable with myself, something I have not been in a long long time. I really like the motivation of a group and the accountability of checking in to others. I'm really excited about this! I also added everyone in the group to my list of friends.
Good morning ladies!
I'm 21. I've been a member of CC since July 21st but my diet started on July 14th. My most recent weight was 178. I'll wiegh again Monday. I work full time as an accountant and am currently on summer break from school. I start school again on 8/25 as a full time student (night, weekend & internet classes). I'm working towards my RN license.
I chose to start losing weight so that I'd feel better about myself. The health benefits are great (ofcourse) but I really just want to feel good about myself. I know that learning to run will be a great way to exercise and hopefully shed some pounds.
I'm really looking forward to this challange and to becoming friends with all of you. It's going to be great. Have a wonderful day :)
missbluecutie, good for you that you're starting this move to a healthier lifestyle early on, because the earlier you start the better off you are in the long run.
Well anyway here's my stats and such ... I'm so excited!!!
I will turn 32 very soon. I'm a single mom to an outspoken and energetic 13 year old girl. I started CC about a year ago when I was 190 lbs (5'5") and I'm currently between 142-144 lbs. I work full-time and I spend about 3.5 hours a day in the car commuting to and from work. It's always a struggle for me to maintain a regular exercise routing. I try to work in my exercise in the evening playing (cycling, tennis, swimming, etc.) with my daughter or walking on the treadmill. I am nervous about how well I will do once school starts and the weather gets cooler. I have tried the learn to run program previously and ended up quitting mainly because I didn't fully believe that I could ever get to the point where I could run for 30 minutes straight. I am hoping to do better this time because I have this wonderful group to help motivate me and I know that I can do at least the first half of the program without any problems.
I am a 41 years old and a single, working mother (a paralegal) of a teenager. I have been struggling with my weight since high school. I am 5'5 and at a CW of 152. My SW in October, 2006 was 180.
It was on Saturday, July 26, 2008 that I decided to get back on track after a year hiatus. I had lost almost 50 pounds (at 132) by July 2007. I am now down only 28 lbs. Although difficult to say, I have almost gained half of my weight back. I CANNOT AND WILL NOT LET THIS GET ANY MORE OUT OF HAND. I NEED TO EXERCISE AND EAT WELL.
I AM NOW READY TO TAKE MY LIFE BACK. I WANT TO FEEL GOOD ABOUT TRYING ON CLOTHES. I JUST WANT TO FEEL CONFIDENT AND SECURE ABOUT WHO I AM.
My name is Jenn, also 32, stay-at-home mom of one (Sammy, who is almost 15 months).
As it says on my profile, this move to lose weight is really precipitated by the recent decision to start trying for our second child next year. I was 180 when I got pregnant with Sam, and, as he was 10 lbs when he was born, you can imagine how HUGE and miserable I was! I don't want that to happen again.
SW: 190
CW: 185
Short-term goal weight: 180
Mid-term goal weight: 160
After that? Who knows.
I have always been a person who hates running, so I don't know where in the world this drive to start running is coming from. I feel like an unlikely candidate, but I think watching my sister-in-law train for marathons (she's single, small, athletic and much younger than me!) has been an inspiration.
bluemisscutie, I agree with jazzymama that you are brilliant to do this at 21, and also for your career choice. I was in a sorority with a number of nursing students, so I know how stressful the schooling is. And my mother-in-law is a nurse, and she has told me how stressful her work can be, so if you can get a running habit going, you will have such a healthy and productive way to help you along!
For everyone else, I don't know how in the world you take care of the kids all by yourselves for most of the time. My husband gets home at 430 every day, and some days I just barely scrape by until he gets home... he also works in construction, so when he works overtime, I do it all, and boy oh boy, it is TOTALLY exhausting.
Excited to meet the rest of you and get this ball rolling!
Hi everyone,
I've always tried to get into one of those learn and run groups myself. I started this running program at the gym back in March, and it was worth the hard hits and work. I've always wanted to get into one of these online programs. You know a group to keep you going and motivated you know. So here I am. I'm 30 y/o and a mother of 3, and is going to be 31 at the end of August, and I hope I set another record again. You see, last year I turn 30 and lost 30 pounds on my 30th birthday, and I must say.. That was sweet, and all of my kids helped me stay focus and lose the weight. So if I can get to my goal weight or half way to it with running a lot more with you girls it will be oh so sweet. I'm already running mixed miles a few days a week, and I'm going by distance, and time.. I'm going to do time on here with you all. Because I think this is the best way for me to start this program.
I really can go on and on for ever now with running, because I've have gotten stronger and better at it. The real reason why I started to run, is to see if I would lose some thighs and butt, and I must say. I just lost a drop not enough LOL.... But I'm still hard at it, because I notice that little hour glass shape that curve in my torso come back. So girls, I'm going to finish out my running week, and get started with you all running just 3 days a week, and I do lift weights pretty hard, so I'm going to give 2 stats on monday. My weight and the wasit line measurements. I wish us all nothing but the best.. Nothing but the best and 100%...
See you all on Monday :)
Edit a line.
Hello Everyone,
First I want to say that I am so so so excited to do this, and reading more about you all makes me so sure that I am suppose to be doing this!!
I also am a 32 year old stay at home mom. I have 2 daughters (3 1/2, and 2)and a wonderful husband. I started my diet and exercise program at the beginning of May at 215lbs, although I didn't join CC until about 1 month ago I am totally into it! I have made some big changes to my eating habits, and it is showing. My current weight is 178, but I have been doing basically the same exercise since I started. I have never been a runner, and always wanted to be.
It is so nice to meet all of you, and I will see you on Monday!
Sounds like we have a great plan so far lulu!
So here's a little info about me:
I'm 23 years old, 5'6, I float around 167lbs on my best days, and I have a son and a daughter (4 1/2 and 2 1/2) and I'm also a SAHM. I started CC around June 24th, and I was at first obssessed with it and excited about it, did pretty good too because I lost 3lbs each week for the first two weeks. Now I'm pretty much stuck in a rut, so I'm hoping starting this running program will jump-start my weight loss. My calorie allowance is 1300 but sometimes I still feel hungry and tend to over-eat. Hopefully more exercise will help balance this out, and give me a bigger calorie allowance.
Being at SAHM doesn't give us much time for ourself, but we can do this!!
I want to try to remember everyone's name (if you prefer to be called by your user name that's fine too) but it might take awhile to remember who's who. My name is Jordana, nice to meet you all, and I'm excited to get started!!!! ![]()
SW: 173
CW: 168
GW: 145
GW2: 140
I'm also aiming for 160 by August 21st, don't know if that's unrealistic or not but we'll see!
Hey, I see that this group is closed, but I will be starting the couch to 5k as well, so will come here for motivation. If one of the chosen 12 is unavailable (doctor says no, injury, loses internet connection, etc) I'll be happy to substitute :)
meltydawne, if we already have 12 people then I am sure we can "squeeze" you in! A bakers dozen is better anyway. Welcome to the group!
Hi all,
I'm Lydia. Like others have said, I am both very excited about this and also terrified!! It is really nice to have a support system, though. I won't be able to just wimp out!
I am 24, about to turn 25. I joined CC in March and have lost 30 pounds since then. I am almost to my goal weight, and I feel much healthier, but I am still not satisfied because I know there is more I can do for my body. Like I said in the other forum, I have never been a runner - not even when I was little, not even just jogging for PE class. I think I owe it to my body to improve my cardiovascular health and learn to run.
More about me: I am a law student going into my 3rd and final year. I am married and I live in Vermont with my husband and 2 cats. I hope to join a gym when school starts back up, but the nearest gym is about 40 minutes away (we live in the country), so I think I'll be doing a lot of my running outside. Good thing it's a nice time of year :)
The reason I joined CC is because I turn 25 next month and I refused to turn 25 with a flabby, out-of-shape body. You're supposed to have an awesome body when you're 25!! My weight has never been out of control, but I have always been a little overweight and very not fit. I am not satisfied with myself, and I am tired of felling like a work in progress and thinking "oh, I'll get fit later." I have never been athletic or sporty...but that is going to change. I love exercising and being healthy and I can't wait until I'm one of those people that can just go out and run for the fun of it.
Oh, and I think I might go to town tomorrow and look for a pair of running shoes. My gym shoes are asics and my hiking shoes are new balance. Since those seem to be good brands, I'll probably start there.
It's nice to meet all of you ladies and I am looking forward to (and dreading) starting this challenge with you on Monday!
Hi all,
I will also be starting the couch to 5k program next week and will be visiting this site for motivation.
Do you have room for one more?
Jenn
I'am a stay at home mom as well, I work from home now part time. I love it. I came back because I missed some infor down the line.. I didn't want to be the long page poster. So I'm back posting again to finish up. I been on CC before a few years back. I really liked this place, but the stress of trying to lose weight and keep up got the best of me. Then I got it. It's all started to click the next time around, but for the first year. I was not with CC, but I did lose a lot of weigt before I came back to this group. In 2007 March 9th. I started at 226 pounds, and when I came here in March of 2008 I was 175. I was so proud of what I've done for myself, but the road started to get rough, and I new I need some help. That's why I rejoined CC, and I'm so thankful to be here. I'm also happy to be a part of this group. Hi, My name is Lindsay, and I love me, and for once in my life.. I can say.. Yes... You can do anything you want if you just get up and put your mind to it..
CW 150
GW 140 I must lose 10 more.. :) Really working on toning.
Wasit Line... 30" and I would really love to be 25"/28".

jinxozzie,amk042900 and jenn9903......we'll add you to the group. Welcome and good luck! Just post an introduction so we learn a little more about you and post your weights on Monday..........and then it begins!!!!!
I am so scared. I just keep thinking what the he** did I get myself into? I am crazy. I will never be able to do this! I can't even jog for 30 seconds. WTF am I gonna do! .............those are the toughts going thru my head. But, I think we all have fears and doubts so I am not going to let it stop me. And I am counting on ALL OF YOU to help me keep going and not to quit on myself before I even start!
I weighed in today and I am back up to 180. (big sigh) On the bright side, I hope to never see this number again!
Do you recomend Hydroxycut?
Do not use Hydroxycut. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued a warning to consumers in May 2009 to immediately stop using Hydroxycut products... Read more
