Welcome Couch to 5kers Group(now closed)
As Jenn summed it up so nicely........here it is............
We will be doing Couch to 5K, starting August 4th, ending the week of October 6th. We will be doing the first week TWICE to help us get started, thereby making a nine week program last ten weeks.
We will be weighing in on Mondays, with an optional weigh-in on Friday for those who want to.
Everyone will be doing the platform of their choice (elliptical, treadmill, street) and will choose their own days on which to run, due to varying schedules."

I have a question for those who downloaded the podcast. I did it last night then started to listen to see what to expect and after the introduction there was silence. Now I don't know if the full 27 minutes left were silent but after about a minute nothing. Did this happen to anyone else? I think I might delete it then try and download it again. Any suggestions?
I am so nervous for tomorrow! I forgot my ipod in Vermont, so there won't be any podcasts for me...just the panicked thoughts in my own head. Tonight I was talking to my mom on the phone and told her I was going to start running tomorrow and she said "why would you want to do that?" It was really discouraging because she was always the one getting after me to run when I was a kid. But apparently when you are a grown up you get to just be a lazy bum?? No, it's not too late for me to learn. I'm getting up at 6 tomorrow and going out for a run. I can't wait.
HERE WE GO LADIES! Tomorrow is the big day. Just want to wish you all luck, courage, and the strength to just keep on going! Good luck.
i just wanted to bump this post, wish you all luck, and follow along. i started c25k a few weeks ago and have been enjoying it! i hope you all continue with it because like most of you, i never imagined that i would be running.. especially with these curves (40dd) lol
so good luck to all of you!!
Well, one day down. Phew!
I'll admit, though, it was hard!
How is the first day going for everyone else?
Todays the big day! I'll do mine this afternoon after work. I'm excited.
tlc0219: it took me a few times to get it right to. I'd download it and then when I listened to it something would be wrong (couldn't hear the guys voice, it started in the middle of the session, no music...) finally after downloading and erasing like 4 times I got it. It was only week one that I had problems with. Good luck.
So I said I'd post my starting weight today. Here goes.
SW: 174
GW: 172 (by next weigh in)
Long Term GW: 125-115
Morning all!
Well, my weigh-in for today is 183.8, which is a little bit of a fluke, since I wasn't feeling well yesterday, and didn't eat much of a dinner. I think I am more like the upper-end of 185. SW was 190.
I look forward to running today. It will actually be my fourth time doing week one, but I think I am going to need another run-through before advancing. I finally found a level, quiet street in my neighborhood that circles around, on which I can run with my son in the stroller and not feel like we are going to get run over!
Anyways, just wanted to wish everyone luck, and tell you how much I look forward to hearing about your experiences today!

My weigh in for today is.....179.
I did week one and here was my info:
I walked at 3.0 mph and jogged at 3.5 mph. It said that I burned 140 calories, totalled a distance of 1.55 miles in thirty minutes.
I had some technical difficulties too! The kids lost the key to my treadmill, so I couldn't turn it on. I had to pack everyone up and head over to my moms house to use her treadmill. Then, it turned out that the podcasts didn't download correctly so my ipod shuffle had NOTHING on it! My mom had a radio by her treadmill that I plugged my headphones into, and only one ear worked! Plus, since I didn't know how to use all the fancy buttons on her treadmill (mine is an anciet artifact) the timer kept dissappearing into the distance number so it was really hard to keep track of the sixty second jog and the ninety seconds for walking. But I did it! I am not sure if I stretched out enough, though.
Now, the hard part, well, the other hard part, is to keep track of the diet. I don't want all this exercise to be for nothing!
good morning fellow runners!!!
I am so excited about today.
I am 46 years old
5'1 and weighed 154.8 this morning.
My goal weight is 115.
I will do my program in the afternoon at the gym after work.
Will let you all know how i did!!!
Good luck everyone.
I did it!!! I'm so excited. I tried to get out of bed for half an hour but kept saying I have time. I jumped out in just enough time to get done day one and be able to get ready to open the store. My problem was the direction I went. Usually I turn right out of my house and go around the block that way. Well today I went left (my development has 2 streets, I live on the bend of the horseshoe). I realized why I never go left, you get to the big hill within a few minutes. Guess where my first 60 second run started, in the middle of the hill!!! But I made it. I did the full week one, ending a little away from my house. All in all I did 2 miles (each time around my street is 1/2 mile). That includes the distance where I ended the couch 2 5k and continued until I made it home.
I realized the mistake with the podcast, I downloaded the wrong one. Last night I went back and found the right one.
My stats as of today:
32 yo
5'6
190.5 this morning.
One workout down! I did my offical first run today, and it went pretty well. My weigh in was 177, which is good (my SW was 215, and that was at the beginning of May!) But, my scale is broken. I just got it about a month ago, but the outer cover is broken, and I have to stand in just the right spot. So, needless to say I don't know how accurate it is.
I am lucky enough to live in a very beautiful place that,(at least in the summertime) is great for outdoor activity. I don't really have any specific goals for this week. But I think that I will take walks on the off days, and try to fit in some yoga, or other at home exercise. Does anyone else get FitTV? Namaste Yoga is on when my girls are napping so it works great!
Good luck to everyone, getting started is the hard part, once we get in the swing of things, this 10 weeks will go by fast! We should all be proud of ourselves. If you had told me 6 months ago that I would be running at all I would have said you were crazy!!!
Didn't feel like running today, since it's a holiday in Canada. Felt tired and cranky, but once I got on the treadmill started to feel better. Now I feel energized and great.
Did week one podcast for the second time. This time I ran a little faster. Ran 4mph and walked 3mph. I think this is a good pace for me right now. Went 1.6 miles in total.
SW: 225
CW: 220.5
Good luck to everyone running this afternoon.
Well I'm SAD to say that I've been horribly sick and I've lost about 4-5lbs from not eating, throwing up, and having the flu since Saturday! So no running for me today
I'm hoping to start Wednesday and maybe if I only do 2 days I can catch up next week. I have just been too weak and my body is aching. Glad to hear everyone else is doing so good though!!
Hi all!
Good job to everyone! Jinxozzie - way to power through it even though you didn't feel like running! Lulufit - way to go for not letting all the bad luck get in the way! Yay for all of us!
And Must_lose20, sorry you have been sick! Don't stress about running, just get well so you can be 100% when you start. We have a "repeat" week built in to the program, so don't worry.
Also, I realize I didn't post stats. So I will do that now. Like I said, I am not doing this to lose weight, because I am pretty much at my goal. I am doing this to prove to myself and everyone that I can!! I do need to maintain, though, so diet is as important for me as ever.
Height: 5'7"+
Weight starting CC: 162
Current Weight: 128.5
Again, good job everyone!!
Great job so far, everyone! I'm still waiting to hear from about five people, and then I'll try to make a spreadsheet with everyones starting weight. I'll update it everyweek, so that way we can make sure we're all keeping up.
Mustlose, hope you are feeling better! Don't forget, we're going to repeat week one, so you'll be able to catch up.
As a sidenote, I never noticed that my butt could jiggle so much. It was kind of distracting!!! Anybody else have this problem? I am totally serious. I need some support for the cheeks.
Hi everyone.. I see everyone so far is doing FABO JOB! Sunday, I started my program. I jogged the track. I was out there for 30 mins jogging only, and jogged by the walk fit counter I just jogged 3.25 miles. Okay, I will take that. No problem. I could have pushed for more, but after a while I was feeling a little light headed. I had lots of water on the side line, and my children was riding there bikes in the middle of the track. My daughter who is 13 was jogging with me.. But she wanted to give up to early. Kids are to run for ever right. Mines wanted to go home and get on the phone. I'm sick of riding the bike.
Monday I got up and went to the gym. I had another program to do, and that's my booy camp program. I got 4 more weeks at this crap, and then it will be over.. We didn't run at all today.. So I will be on the treadmill later on to night working it out.
Weight: March 9 07, 226lbs
Aug-4- CW: 149 :)
Wasit 30"
I see you all are doing great.. Keep on pushing forward, and do your best. Every time you get started to run- you will feel yourself getting stronger and stronger. Get stronger ladies and run your race.
I finished my 4th interval at week one. I can definitely tell it's gotten a whole lot easier than it was that first time. It felt great to. I don't know what happened to my podcast. It was working fine sat. when I ran but today I couldn't get it to start at the beginning. Wierd, but I done it anyway.
Keep it up ladies! We're off to a good start :)
I had a great run today, despite the fact my son started wailing and screaming during the last ten minutes (he is cutting his molars right now and is totally impossible). It was SO MUCH easier than last week. I recover faster between the running, and don't get so out of breath!
lulu, I have had the same problem, with the jiggle wiggle going on. Mostly at the top of the butt, near my hips. IGug.

If you posted and I missed it...I apologize! I try to read the posts with the kids getting into trouble in the background...Just send me a message with your weight.
I'm not sure if anyone posted this before, but here is a website where you can download free podcasts of music to run to. http://www.djsteveboy.com/1day25k.html It makes a little ding noise to signal the different intervals. I think it will be really helpful when I start running outside and I don't have the timer right in front of me.
