Hi,

my name is Helga and I'd like to tell you a little bit about myself.

I'm 49 and have never really had a BIG weight problem. Over the years I've put on some extra pounds - I guess I'm not burning calories they way I used to ( I'm actually eating less than, say 15 years ago). I know I'm not fat , but losing a few pounds would make me feel much better.

So I've taken up jogging - I started two weeks ago, and I'm determined to stick with it.

I'm a translator (German-English) and an English teacher  living in Ulm, a smallish town in the South of Germany (about 100.000 inh.). My husband and I have four children (ages 28 down to 15) and a dog who is 14 years old and wondering why all of a sudden I RUN when all he wants is a leasurely stroll.

I can't think of anything really interesting about myself at the moment, I'm afraid. Maybe another time .....

Helloo,

I'm Emily and I'm a fairly new calorie-counter, at least new in the community aspect of it.

Now, I'm not "fat" and most people think I'm crazy when I say I want to lose weight, but I really just want to tone. I really would not care at all if the number on the scale stayed the same --or even went up-- as long as I felt I looked good.

I'm a student living in Austin, Tejas. I have one very pretty kitty, one new puppy, and my faithful running mate -- Oberon, my big doggy.

I hope this group can help me!

Hey there! I'm Haylea, 20 yrs. old, and I live in Austin, Texas as well! I love it here... there are so many fun things to do and it's such a healthy city.

People think I'm crazy as well when I say I want to lose weight. I'm looking to lose 15 lbs... which is more than 0-5 lbs. I know, but the 15 lbs. I want to lose are strictly for vanity reasons. I weigh 125 lbs. now and I'm 5'5", which I know is completely healthy, but I'm trying to get my body into the best shape I've ever been in so that I can do some modeling and hopefully send my photos off to some magazines. I have set reasonable goals for myself and I've also created rewards to motivate me for each 5 lbs. lost.

I would love to make some friends here because none of my friends are trying to lose weight (which DEFINITELY doesn't help my situation any... they are extremely bad influences) so just hit me up!

<3 Haylea

Hello!  I just realized I never introduced myself...

I'm Fabiola, and I've been a CC member for about a year. I recently lost 13 lbs and then put back 6 of them over the last 3 months. Ideally, I'd like to lose 2-3 lbs again or better yet, eat healthy, tone and maintain!

This year, I adopted a French Bulldog named Mugsy who is an absolute sweetie.  I'm learning to take him for walks (instead off eating chips and baked treats) when I am stressed. Yup, you guessed it, I am an emotional eater.

Who here can relate?

Hi!  My name is Denise.  I just joined CC the past couple of weeks.

I'm looking to lose around 5 pounds.  I weigh around 130 lbs. and 5'4'' tall.  Like Haylea said earlier, I know it's healthy, but I don't feel it.  I have had 3 kids - 6, 5, and 2 - and didn't keep any of that baby weight.  Just kept the big butt from them!  LOL.  I am trying to start eating healthy and exercise more but it hasn't started working yet.  Prob due to the lack of motivation.

I started back to school part time this week, work full time, and take care of my kids and husband.  Apparently not enough exercise.

Hi All! My name is Naomi and I just joined CC today. I need support from like-minded people like yourselves because no one thinks I need to lose weight. But I'm so flabby! I have gross old-lady 'cellulite' all over my thighs in front down to my knee and I'm only 27. It's embarrassing. I believe it is due to the fact that my activity level has slowly been going down, down, down. I've been losing muscle and gaining fat, which doesn't change the scale, but does change the way I look naked.

I spent the last 6 months volunteering in Nicaragua, which was an amazing experience, except that 80% of the diet is starchy carbs, and I basically had a desk job working for a fledgling micro finance operation. I gained about 5 lbs, then lost it the week before I came home because I got a nasty parasite and was very sick vomiting for 5 days. I do DO NOT recommend this diet unless you enjoying lying in bed groaning and clutching your stomach for a week. But it did work, I guess ;).

So, now I'm home and am looking forward to being a bridesmaid in my friend's wedding this October. She's tall and skinny and gorgeous and so are all the other bridesmaids, so I really want to look my best. Thanks for all your understanding, it can be very frustrating to have everyone constantly dismiss your goals to improve yourself.

Hi all!

My name is Niels and I am from Berlin, Germany. I currently live in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates but am going to move back to Germany two weeks from now.

I am 27 years old and never really had a problem with weight gain until I hit 25. From then on I gained a couple of pounds every year despite some dieting, jogging and weight lifting attempts which all only yielded temporary results. Over the years I managed to increase my weight from 89 kg to 105 kg in spring this year. Being 2 m tall that finally pushed my BMI over the still healthy 25 and in May I decided to take action.

After doing some research on the internet I found CC. On this site I managed to reduce my weight from 102 kg to my current 91 kg. The goal I originally set for myself was 90 kg so the remaining 1 kg (2 pounds) might as well be called my vanity pounds.

Since I experienced first hand how the difficulty of losing weight increases the closer one gets to one's goal I thought this group might give me the support I need to really go through with it and lose those last two pounds.

Once this is achieved my body fat percentage should be 10% (according to my calculations). If this will not be the case or if I will not be satisfied with the way I look then I might go a couple of pounds further.

Naomi- I'm from Nicaragua :) I was born there and moved to the US when I was very young.  What part of Nicaragua were you in?

Hi Everyone!

My name is Jane and I'm from NY. I just took the bar exam...I guess that makes me a lawyer (so weird to say). I began my weight loss journey last year when I decided I was sick of being overweight and wanted to lose all that college weight I put on (funny how drinking tons of beer and eating pizza everyday packs on 30 lbs). I began seeing a nutritionist, cutting out most sugar and white carbs, and exercising regularly. Since I started about 18 months ago, I went from 167 pounds and a size 10-12 to 123 lbs and a size 2-4. It's a great feeling, but I am constantly getting the accusations that I am anorexic which is incredibly aggravating.

The reason why I joined is because all of a sudden last week I put on three pounds. At first I thought it was water weight and would go away...however my weight has stayed firm at 127 and I am getting really frustrated. I have been exercising regularly and eating my usual healthy way. I had been increasing my caloric intake to maintain, and am now concerned that I will be destined to eating 1200 calories a day for the rest of my life in order to maintain at 123-24. Sigh. Any advice would be most appreciated!!

Oh and I have three beautiful pugs named Charlie, Teddy, and Freddie and they are the apples of my eye. AND Naomi, I hear you with the cellulite. I stare at my thighs and butt in the mirror on a daily basis, cursing my genetics. There are great exercise programs designed to target cellulite that you might want to try. But remember, even skinny, skinny girls have cellulite...so don't beat yourself up for it!!

I was on the east coast in Puerto Cabezas. I also got to go to Waspam and up the Rio Coco to some small villages. What part are you from? Have you gone back? My older sister has been going there for 9 years and married a Nicaraguan from Managua!

Hi everyone! I'm Canadian.  I found CC end of March 2008 when I finally got serious about losing the weight that had gradually crept up on me. Yes, I too am an emotional eater-drowning in bags of potatoe chips was something I found finesse in. I initially went from 134 to 110 in 3 months and have been at or below 110 for 2 months. At first I was just happy to be at my goal but then thought 105 would be my ultimate goal. (What can I say? I LOVE a challenge!)  I'm currently at 108 but that fluctuates.  I work FT as an Operations Mgr., own my own house and am single parent of 2, one of which is still living at home/going to school.

Davidndenise2001, it sounds like you have the same problem as I used to-investing all waking hours in family/work, left little time to plan to eat right for myself.

I think that, coupled with finding CC has made the difference for me. I find things work far easier when I take the time to plan out what I'm going to eat, ensuring as well that I get the right nutrition.

It's nice to find a group devoted to the last 5!

Hello,

I am Lila from Thessaloniki, Greece. I found this site trying to find an online calorie calculator but it ended up that is actually much more. I found it fascinating, as my problem is that I get discouraged very easily. However, when I keep track of everything I eat I feel I have much more control and that helps me go on.

I joined CC about a month ago. I did see some result in the begining, after only one week, but then I left on holidays, and as I had no longer access to the internet, I let go a little bit. But now I am back, determined to get back to my routine. I eat 1200 a day. I also walk half an hour, do some abs, push ups and yoga stretches at home about 3-4 times/week.

Hey there!

My name's Courtenay and I'm from Melbourne, Australia.

I'm 17 years old and I'm a model and I'll hopefully be travelling to Japan at the beginning of next year to do some modelling over there Laughing

I've never really needed to lose weight before but I need to lose 5kgs if I want to have a shot at Paris and Milan and I want to do it healthily. Smile

I'm in my final year of school and hope to study at university next year :) I will probably have to do a broad course because I have so many things I want to try in life, I don't want to be constrained to one thing!

I'm a writer, a singer and an artist and I'm basically the happiest, most energetic person in the room and I could talk under water!

I have a 12 year old black/grey poodle named Lady (I got her just after seeing the movie Lady and the Tramp when I was 5) who's going blind and deaf but still manages to act like a puppy!

Odd fact: I'm related to Lawrence of Arabia and I have Scottish royal blood in me, both on my grandma's side Smile

I hope to make some friends here because even though my friends all want to lose weight, they're a little bit bigger than me and don't quite understand my goals and roll their eyes and think I'm crazy so I generally have to keep my mouth shut unless I want a group-glare!

I'm 170 cm tall and weigh 55 kg. I want to get down to 6 % body fat percentage and those 3 kgs are really really hard to lose. AND for some unknown reasons, my face and neck are gaining fat. I can feel it and it is resisting my neck movement.

Have you seen a doctor about this? It's odd to gain weight in such a way.

Also, women need to have 10% body fat at its lowest - that's the lowest healthy amount for essential body fat.

I recommend seeing a doctor and/or a nutritionist before undertaking such a thing.

Are you an athlete or is this decision a purely aesthetic one?

Remember, in terms of aesthetics, measurements are often more important than actual weight as people carry it differently depending on muscle/fat ratio.

Hi , I’ve been on CC since December 07. Last year I discovered I had high blood pressure. I cut out salt and lost about 17 lbs. Blood pressure went down. I regained about 5 lb trying to maintain and want to lose that again. I have been tweaking an exercise plan—started working out with weights about 2 months ago. It has made a big difference. I don’t weigh less but several people have commented on weight loss and my clothes look better. I’d love to chat about keeping weight down and exercise—people I know in real life don’t want to hear about my weight issues or exercise routine, (58, 5’10”, 150 lb.) but I’m only in better shape because I eat better and work out more.

Yesterday I did a bridge pose in yoga for the first time in my life. Wow, I was thrilled. The weight work really made me strong.

Hi I'm Kate.  I'm 18 and I'm about to start university in the UK, but I'm from Washington D.C.  I want to lose five pounds to return to the body I had at this time last year.  I was playing a lot of soccer then, but even when I wasn't exercising a lot I was skinny and I want to get that body back.

I joined cc to keep better control of my caloric intake and to learn more about how I can lose weight and get some tips.

I'm 5'10'' (178 cm) and 124 pounds (55 kgs), trying to get to 119.  I've also just recently started getting into modeling, but it is a world I know nothing about.  If anyone knows, what are the regular requirements for things like height, weight, or bmis?

I hope this helps!
