And now just go ahead and make that first post!
i just joined CC like yesterday. i workout pretty much every day ,but, i just love snacking -mainly bread and butter- so its pretty tough for me to keep fit. i'm 58 kilos and that may not sound like alot but last year i was 38. Ya i know ur all gonna say anorexic, but i got over it with the help of alot of people and now im dong alot better. what i am now seems pretty big to me so its kinda tough. im also a teacher so i dont move around alot during the day. i guess i just want to be fit. hope joining this will help
Hi,I've used Calorie Count on and off for about a year. I did Weight Watchers for about 6 months to lose the last 15 pounds of my 30-pound weight-loss goal. I started using Calorie Count seriously when I dropped below the 132-pound minimum weight for my height/build/age (5' 8"; I'm metric challenged). I've maintained my current weight (+/-132) for about 6 months, and I've actually skipped tracking my calories for about a week--sort of an experiment.
Although I was overweight as a child (one of my nicknames was butterball), I've spent most of my adult life on-and-off at the high end of my weight range--not overweight, but not happy with what I saw/see in the mirror. I have self-esteem issues and body-image issues with my weight. My main goal is to be healthy and live a long life. My second goal is to get over these issues, which makes me laugh because it is such a daunting task.
I'm joining this group because I think I could use the support with maintaining a healthy life style and to reach out to other people.
About me: I'm 53 years old. I have a 15-year-old son and 9-year-old twin daughters. Two of the kids definitely have ADHD, and the third probably does, so my life as a mother can be rather stressful. I have my own business editing college textbooks for content (not grammar), and I've been doing that for--yikes!--about 25 years.
A few years ago I enrolled my daughters in a Taekwondo school, and about 6 weeks after, joined them at it. I have a jr./deputy black belt and am studying for a black belt test. Taekwondo is my exercise, my weight-maintainer, my meditation, my stress-reducer, my spiritual pursuit. It's a pretty rich experience.
I enjoy playing the online game Tabula Rasa. I have two cats, Dragon and Sam. My husband and I have been married for 19 years; he's my best friend and drives me crazy, but we're working on it.
In spite of running at the mouth like this, I can be shy when I first meet people, whether in the real world or online.
Tinada, it sounds like my goals are pretty similar to yours!
Marilyn
Hi guys! My name is Okie. I just joined this group, and I am 15 years old, 5'5", and am maintaining 113 pounds.
1. History with weight loss: On May 23 of this year, I started my weight loss adventure at 126 pounds. On August 19 of this year, I reached that goal. Now I'm just trying to maintain! Currently I weigh 112 pounds.
2. History with Calorie Count: I've just been on it for a few months, but I track calories religiously and I already feel very comfortable here.
3. Reason for joining this group: It fits just what I am looking for!
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: Well, I love reading, running, and exercising in general. I also love to cook! One of the things I've noticed in maintenance is that it is just to easy to stay under your calorie count when you're not trying to lose! It makes me feel like I'm eating like a normal person again! For example, today I had oatmeal for breakfast, then a donut (bad, I know!), then a sandwich (with cheese!) and frozen yogurt, and I still have 700 calories left for turkey burgers for dinner! I feel so much more refreshed and energetic than when I was trying to lose!
Well, that's me! I hope this group takes off! :)
xoxoxo Okie
Hello fellow maintain-ers! My name is Julie, and I'm 21 years old, 5'8", and maintaining at around 129 pounds.
I've been pretty blessed with weight loss. I recently lost ~10 pounds of weight I had picked up since university and really just needed to cut out alcohol from my diet. I rarely partied like most of my friends, but the times that I did often led to chinese that night and then deep fried food for the morning after.
I've struggled with a negative body image, similar to tkd_mom. I sometimes obsess over having the "perfect" body and try to look like the models I see in magazines. I'm a smart girl and it just doesn't make sense for me to want something that I know is airbrushed. Yet I have a problem accepting that and being comfortable in the body I have.
I joined CC in April and it helped me develop a sensible lifestyle plan. Unfortunately, I stopped seeing this as a tool for well-being and instead approached weight loss as a challenge. I wanted to lose more and more weight and obsessed with calorie numbers. I took some time away from CC to smarten up, and now I'm back to use the site as a maintenance tool. The online community is so helpful and I love the resources... I just need to use it in a positive way.
I've joined this group to see if anyone else finds it challenging to maintain. I don't mean challenging in that you lapse into gaining weight, but challenging to accept that you're happy with where you are. It seems bizarre but I'd like to know if others struggle with body image in this way. Even reading the above post by tkd_mom made me feel miles better.
I'm entering my fourth year of university, studying Classics. I love reading and writing, and I'm a crazy over-achiever. Cooking is one of my favourite stress-busters, and I am always trying to find ways to make every meal as nutritionally sound as possible.
If anyone has stories to share or advice for loving your body, I'm all ears! =)
yoooooooo. so, i'm 24 years old. i am between 5'6 and 5'7 and i weigh about 123-24 lbs. this here website told me that i'm underweight, but if you look at ANY of my pictures, you can clearly tell that is false information.
i'm not here to LOSE any weight per se, but i would like to maintain and tone up some areas. i've been slacking and haven't been eating properly or exercising nearly enough. [[finding time is very difficult for that in my chaotic life.]]
i was a member here before, but started to become obsessed with everything that i put into my mouth as well as things that OTHER people put into THEIR mouths. i'm a health food guru. what can i say?
i hope that i can maintain a healthy relationship with CC and get back to my goals.
Hi all, I've been around CC for a little over a year and been maintaining since December of last year. I'm 52 and 5'5". I started in September 2006 on my weight loss journey, so it took me about 15 months or so to lose 130-ish pounds. Right now, I'm maintaining right around 144 pounds or so with a 3 pounds +/- fluctuation on any given morning.
I have become quite devoted to my exercise and have a very healthy relationship with my treadmill. I also go to the gym 3 times a week for weight training, which I really enjoy.
I joined this group because it does seem like this phase, while similar to the weight loss phase, has its own special challenges and I am looking forward to the insight other people have in how they deal with maintaining.
Hi All, I do not have too much time to post but here is a short and sweet intro:
1. History with weight loss: I have always struggled with my weight. I was never really fat but always the chubby girl... sometimes very chubby girl. In the past I have tried losing weight all the unhealthy ways, but I wanted to learn how to lose and be healthy. I am very athletic but could never really slim down until now.
2. History with Calorie Count: I joined CC in February of this year and lost 16 lbs gaining muscle and getting in the best shape of my life. I am 5'4 and now 129 lbs. I love CC and use it just about everyday. I count all calories eaten and workout calories. I love the journal feature and thank everyone for their support. Now I am here maintaining and hoping to lower my body fat % at the same time.
3. Reason for joining this group: Maintenance is HARD! I have successfully maintained but it has been difficult. At first I was scared to eat more and gain... then I felt I made my goal so I could eat whatever...then I got laid off my job, depressed and ate a TON of junk. I am pretty much back on track now but would love to converse with fellow maintainers.
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: Up until last week I was a computer firmware test engineer. I just got laid off in a mass lay-off due to the struggling economy. Now I am looking for a job and keeping all my options open. I am trying to decide what I want to do with my life. I live with my wonderful long-term boyfriend and we are very happy... no kids yet but hopefully in a few years. I am addicted to the gym and working out. I take dance classes and completed my 1st triathlon this year. I have a purple belt in kenpo karate and train in MMA. I used to be a total cardio buff but now I lift too (better balance). Beside athletics I love to travel, cook, bake, and take pictures.
:)
Hi Guys,
I just recently got to my goal, so I've been edging toward maintenance. This week I'm 100 cals from maintenance, and then will be on full maintenance mode after that.
1. History with weight loss: I have been a complete yo-yo. In the past decade, I have gone from 130 to 160 to 130 to 175 and back down to 125. This time I really think I've found a healthy balance, and I hope to be able to properly maintain this weight. I also have issues with alcohol, and binge eating (although, I didn't even identify that as a problem until recently!)
2. History with Calorie Count: I joined CC in April after I had already lost 35 lbs (but had already regained 7 of that). CC has helped me make my diet much more NUTRITIOUS. I had always counted calories, but didn't have a focus on health like I do now. The support of the people here, has REALLY helped me reach my goal.
3. Reason for joining this group: I'm new to maintenance, and I know it is going to be hard. I would love to talk to like minded people for mutual support.
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I'm 28, and I live in California with my husband of 4 years, and my cat Beefalo. I spent the summer learning to kiteboard, and hope to travel to Brazil for an extended stay to kiteboard more (it is my husband passion that I'm starting to pick up on as well). I also snowboard, and enjoy hiking and camping.
Hi, I hit my target weight of 125 this summer, and am now down to a muscular 118 so am starting maintenance. I lost a total of 100 pounds in the past 3 years.
1. History with weight loss: My whole life I have yo-yo'ed from as low as 113 and as high as 219 pregnant. and each season sees a new pants size. my storage closet is stuffed with all size clothes that I have been wearing off and on.
2. History with Calorie Count: I started cc diet this winter when my doctor told me to loose weight for health reasons. I went from 150 to 118 in 6 months! This is the first diet I really feel healthy on, and where my focus is on health and strength more than just weight.
3. Reason for joining this group: I'm great at dieting but once I get to my target weight I let go and gain it back. I hope this forum will help me to finally stay trim without going overboard in either direction. I am scared of gaining the weight back, but I don't want to keep dieting and loose too much.
4. Some interesting details about yourself,
such as
your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I am a stay at home 30 year old mom of a very active soon-to-be 3 year old boy.
Hello everyone!
I guess I've reached my goal...although it seems to keep changing as I see I can go further. I started CC in Feb. of this year at 148 lbs. I am 38, 5'4" and currently at 125 lbs. I'm happy at this weight however, I'm still self-conscious about my tummy area.
I joined this group because I think I'm just about done losing so I'd like to enter into discussions about maintaining. I know it'll be hard, but I can't gain the weight back this time so support would help.
Some interesting things about me: I live in Maryland with my husband and 4 children (a 9 yr old daughter and 7 1/2 yr old triplets/2 girls 1 boy). I work part time for a title company. I have a new found love of running and cycling.
Not that interesting of a read, but if you're at work, it'll kill a minute or two. :o)
1. History with weight loss: Started out as a skinny kid. Real skinny. So skinny my mom took me to the doc to see what was wrong with me. By 8th grade, I was like 200 lbs and 5'9. By 12th grade, I was 5'10 and 250. By the age of 22, I was up to 280. In the meantime, I'd dieted, but not much. I was pretty happy being me. I'd lost 50 pounds the summer after high school, and couldn't believe how different people treated me. Then I got married and divorced, all in the blink on an eye, and in the meantime, swelled up to 280. All of a sudden I was lonely, and living at home with mom and dad and sisters... saw my little skinny sister dating.... was jealous... wanted to be a part of dating life... so lost about 80 pounds over the summer before I turned 23. I met a guy on the internet that lived like 1000 miles away from me (and in Canada to boot), went to meet him, stayed... and now have gotten down to 137. I love it. I feel great. I obsess with everything I eat. I work out 20 minutes a day... big difference from the life I used to lead, where 4 burgers from McD's was an appetizer and just getting my lard butt off the couch got me out of breath.
2. History with Calorie Count: Joined... only to keep a log of how many calories I was consuming a day. Amazing how many when you're not paying attention. I've had to give up things I thought were freebies, like jellybeans. Darn. :o)
3. Reason for joining this group: I was getting lonesome to be honest. Everyone is chatting it up, and I was quietly counting calories on my own. Doing it with friends... much better.
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: Well, I'm 29, live in Canada (came from TN), my boyfriend is 48. He has 2 girls, 14 and 17. I've lived here 6 years. I hate water chestnuts and bugs. No pets. I'm a receptionist at a company I just adore cause all we do is have fun all day. I'm the middle of three daughters. I like to cook (why are we all SO obsessed with cooking?!?!), clean the house, doodle, watch sports, listen to music and have a beer, play tennis and golf, I like to fish, I like shopping for purses and shoes and have... far too many. Don't ever tell my bf I said that. I am the happiest I've ever been, ever known anyone to be. I don't have any complaints. Wait, my teeth are too small, and I have a lot of extra skin from being fatty mcbutterpants, but hey, we can't have it all... :o)
1) always been skinny
2) Just joined, mostly so that I could count my calorie intake. I don't eat enough some days.
3) CC suggested I join it. There's not very many groups of people trying to gain weight.
4) I work overnight, I stock shelves at a grocery store so it's a pretty active job lifting boxes and walking around for 8 hours a day. At home I do housework, chores, cook, read, play online, and I often walk my dog. It's just me, my hubby and our 60lb lab/chow mix who loves to walk.
I was always skinny as a kid then started to put on weight in my mid-twenties. By thirty I was 14.5 stones and by 35 I was 17.5 stones. I lost 3 stones between 35 and 40. I then lost another 2 stones between 44 and 46. I am now 47 and have put a some weight back on making me just over 13 stones which is a healthy weight for a man. My ideal weight is around 12.5 stones. My goal is to stay fit and healthy. I have several strategies which seem to work very well, however, I also have a few difficulties. I hope that by joining this website I will be able to be more consistent.
My hobbies include canal boats, sailing boats and foreign travel, however, I have dabbled in many things. I feel that my balance between activity and relaxation does tend a little too much toward relaxation but my fitness levels are still good. I look forward to any replies as I think that if I can make a friend here it may help me to keep coming back here.
Hi everyone, Im new to calorie count. Right now im struggling to get the last few pounds off after having a baby. Im not overweight but I have extra fat that I really would like to take off. I have two kids (2 and 1),and so they keep me pretty active during the day. My goal is to achieve a lean body. Im also a member of peertrainer which is also a great program. I joined to help keep me on track with my goal and stay motivated to do so.
Hello I am new to this too, in fact to the business of posting things and being a member of an online group. I have always been too thin in my mind. I am 47 years old, over 6 feet tall and I only weigh 145 pounds. I would like to be heavier but my life style at work, I am a teacher, is so fast and busy that I don't get a chance to eat much there. I have also various food intolerances, like I don't eat dairy (cow anyway) and nuts. I am married and have two children. My wife thinks I don't need to gain any weight and that it is healthier to be slightly too thin. I am trying to work out how I can get up to 155 pounds. Is there anyone else in my position?
Hello, I am new at this, but I joined this group so I have people to talk to. I need help gaining weight. I way between 80-90lbs and I used to be 108. I eat like a pig, unless i am stressed out. I am 29 years old and I am having a real hard time gaining the weight I want. I want to gain at least 20lbs. If someone has any ideas for me to gain this weight please let me know.
Hi everyone
I am just joining this site and wanted to talk to women with the same issues I have with trying to lose weight. I am a 38 year old mother of 4. I have 3 teenage girls and 1 boy. I have gain at least 40 pounds in the last 8 months. I have joined a gym but my eating habits are poor. To be honest, I have no will power and I always have good intentions, but fail!!!!!
I am trying to lose weight, not to be skinny, which I will never be due to being big bones and a pear shape, but to feel good in my skin again.
I am hoping that with talking to other woman and keeping track of what I have been eating that I can do this and maybe help someone else also. So please, send me a message anytime....I look forward to talking with everyone!
Linda
1. History with weight loss: Never had a problem with weight loss, it's always trying to gain weight every since I was a teenager it's been a problem. My happiest, and heaviest, time was when i was 9 months pregnant and 160 lbs.
2. History with Calorie Count: Just joined today!
3. Reason for joining this group: Motivation
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I play World of Warcraft, one of my friends on there is kind of the reason I'm here. I decided to join the military, and my friend talked me into Air Force. Turns out they have certain body requirements and I have to gain in order to be eligible to join I currently work in a hotel as a housekeeper I spend lots of time on the internets
Hi Everyone,
I've always been the "thick girl," not really big but not healthy I guess. I got tired of looking in the mirror and not being happy, or asking people does this make me look fat? So I got motivated for real and in the past 6 months I really committed to losing weight and started a medical weight management program. I lost 40 pounds and feel great. I have more confidence than I've had in a while and now that I'm comfortable with my body I feel great. My problem is that I'm terrified of gaining the weight back once I finish my weight management program. For the most part the friends/family I have eat like it's going out of style and don't gain a pound. My sister is a double 0 and my mom is an XS. And they put it away!!! For the most part all of my friends are small with the exception of 1. I've made it my business to exercise at least 4 (1 personal training, 2 cardio classes for an hour and 1 day of walking) times a week.
I Just joined Calorie Count today! Go me!!!!!
I jointed this group because I really wanted/need support. I have no desire to gain back the weight. Plus do you have any idea how much it cost to buy a new wardrobe, get your suits altered and make time for shopping because nothing fits. LOL! A great thing to have to gripe about but still super expensive. Plus I have no support outside of myself and the gym to keep up what I've achieved.
Interesting about me. I'm 3rd generation born in the US, My family is originally from the Bahamas, I have no children, I'm a full-time graduate student, I own a gel candle company, have a super long distance relationship with a great man (he lives in Nassau, Bahamas so I get to go 4 times a year), I volunteer when I can, I love to live life and I'm happy over all. I can't wait to get started!
So if you have tips for me that would be great.
