And now just go ahead and make that first post!
I've always thought of myself as "on top" of this weight thing, but since I retired, it seems to be on top (and all around) of me! I've always loved to go for "walks", they just seem to be shorter these days. Still, I'm clocking over 10,000 steps each day and loving it!
Hi everyone! I recently just joined this site as well as this group. I live in Arizona, and go hiking in the winter often, as its just too hot here in the summer! My goal is to lose 40lbs, ideally by January.
Hi,
1. History with weight loss: I just started this website and I just started to try to loose weightis. I have been this weight for 10 years and I never thought of myself as someone who is overweight because I have always been thin before this.
2. History with Calorie Count: I just started 1 week ago.
3. Reason for joining this group: I love to hike and am currently apart of the Hartford, CT meetup group
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I have a cat, a boyfriend, a house, and am currently unemployed so i have a lot more time on my hands.

Hi,
I've been an overeater since I was a little kid , but I didn't start having a weight problem until my early 20's. I lost my excess weight with strict dieting and lots of exercise and kept it off until my late 30's. But then, I got a full time desk job and proceeded to gain 60 pounds over the next 8 years. I left my job last year and hoped to use my time to effectively lose weight, but I've found that instead I've become so hopelessy addicted to eating that I binge almost daily. I do exercise more now, which has kept me from gaining even more weight, but I struggle everyday with my food.
I signed up with CC about 6 months ago, but haven't been as faithful in using its tools as I'd hoped. I'm trying to change that now.
I love to hike, it's my favorite form of exercise. I'm lucky to live near the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, which gives me ample opportunities to hike different types of trails.
Besides hiking, I joined an orienteering club, which is like a hike and a treasure hunt in one. It's challenging, but a great, fun way to get exercise. I also volunteer for the park services, entering park events into their website. I have a 16 year old dog that thinks she's a puppy and a 10 year old cat that thinks he's a dog.

Is jump roping as good an exercise as running?
In terms of calorie burning, moderate jumping is about equal to running a 10-minute mile, although calorie burning is always a function of time... Read more
