My name is Paul and I currently live in Cheshire, England with my wonderful civil partner.  I lived in Guam, which is a territory of the United States.  Growing up as a kid, I was very skinny.  When I left the Philippines for Guam when I was 11, the pounds started to pile on thanks to McDonalds, Pizza Hut, Dominos, KFC, and all sorts of chocolate bars.

I taught and practiced martial arts for more than ten years, and it kept the weight slightly at bay.  However, no amount of exercise kept the weight off due to my sheer gluttony.  In college, I was finishing  extra large stuffed crust Meat Lover's pizzas and guzzling three large pints of soda.  Everything I ate was supersized.  At my heaviest, I weighed 235 lbs. with a blood pressure reading of 180/160 at the age of 21.  Did I mention I smoked two packs a week?

My weight loss journey began when I accompanied a friend of mine to the gym.  She was also severely overweight and had tried every fad diet, fad execise, and dodgy diet pills (Ma Huang, Fen Phen...quite scary!) in the market.  She wanted a gym partner because she was too embarassed to work out by herself.  At this point, I wanted to see if I would want to work out...besides, I was eating myself to death and couldn't care less anyway.  All of that negative thinking flew out of the window as soon as I saw that I lost five lbs. in one week.  I felt more motivated and decided to find logical, intelligent ways to maintain the weight loss and healthy lifestyle.

Eventually, I dropped to 175lbs within a year.  Afterwards, I decided to change my workout routine and packed on 20lbs. of muscle so I can become stronger.  Now, my new fitness goal is to improve my cardiovascular endurance and to trim down once again.

I decided to join Calorie Count because I am willing to try innovative ways to keep myself healthy and on track.  In fact, I would highly recommend this site to my other friends who are struggling to lose weight and get fitter.

My eating philosophy is simple; eat well 80 to 90% of the time and then treat yourself to something indulgent.  I still eat my burgers and pizzas.  The only difference is I share it with my husband.  Plus, he makes awesome, hearty, and healthy soups which definitely helps.

Hey guys my name is Greg, and I live in Washington and go to school here, and all that good stuff. Well about weight I generally stay at around 195-205 almost always in that area, I just thought why in the heck shouldn't I be more healthy, but I always love to eat food, really any kind of food, mainly bad types of food, that is generally my problem. This is not to say that I don't love veggies but I'm just not very disciplined at staying with them and the major part to it is working out along with it, just never do it. My goal is to get around 180 and stay around there. Uhh, I found CC while just surfing the web for work out stuff today. I joined this group I guess because I am also another guy trying to lose weight. All that and I go to WSU ohh yeah go cougs!

Hi, my name is Dan.  I am a 32-year old, 6'2", 190 lbs. I haven't had a problem with weight until the last 5 years.  My target weight is 175 lbs... I have put on 15 lbs since my late 20s.  I have had a few attempts at losing it, but have usually not stuck with the diet because it was too painful.  The pain didn't seem worth the upside, and I would convince myself that I'm not that overweight, and that this is normal for guys my age.  But I want to nip this thing in the bud, before it becomes a 20/30/40 lb. issue.  I exercise consistently and have been doing that for years.  I just need to control my snacking in the evenings.  I've been with CC for about 2 years on-and-off.  CC seems to be the best way for me to make sure I don't over-do dieting, that I take it slow and don't get overly hungry (which leads to failure).  My reason for joining this group is to get helpful tips from others.  And I hope that by sharing my story, it will help me stay motivated!  I'm a financial analyst, married with two kids, age 2 and 4.

Hi my name is Gordon and I am 56 years old. I have been obese most of my life and i have tried diet after diet with a small amount of success. Sadly my wife died suddenly last year and i started to think about my own health, and not being there for my children. So i decided its not to late so here I am. I joined this group so I can talk to people who are going through the same as me, and I hope to gain inspiration and maybe give inspiration to others on the site

Hope thats enough for now

Gordon

Well -- I'm a 55 year old college teacher who really hasn't had any major weight issues until the last couple years. Following my doctor's orders to get more exercise and eat more sensibly (my blood sugar level was up quite a bit two years ago), I started doing morning exercises, taking our dogs for brisk walks ("wogging" = walking and jogging) as often as my schedule allows, and watching what I ate. So I have lost a few pounds here and there over the last year, but just can't seem to break through the 180 pound barrier -- I'm shooting to get down to 170 for starters, maybe even 160-165, my ideal weight. Thus, I am hoping that Calorie Count helps to keep me focused.

Other interests: enjoy playing the guitar, and enjoy ice skating (used to play hockey and soccer in school), and still play a bit of baseball/softball/football with my 14-year old son. LOVE to fish and be outdoors (horseback riding's a biggie). Camping's a family passion, too.
