Yippiiieeh first :)

My name is Sabrina and I'm a huge Wii fan!

My history with weight loss: always been chubby, but the second half of last year I gained even more after I moved in with my boyfriend, who has a crazy metabolism and eats all the time, which inspired me to join him ...

History with calorie count: Joined late January and happy to report 9 pounds lost so far :) Want to lose another 12

Reason for joining this group: Was lookin for an opportunity to discuss fitness "games" anyway, so I was happy to see this group founded!

The rest: I'm 21, live in Belgium and study languages. I'm a blogger, and recently rediscovered my love for exercising ;)

esoterixia, are you going to introduce yourself too?

First off, welcome to the group! Your man sounds a lot like my hubby; eats a ton but I am the one who gains the weight just for smelling his food! Grrr...

I've been in Calorie count for a year, although I didn't actively use it for the first half & now I can't log into the old acct.

We just got the Wii Fit about 2 weeks ago actually, and my entire family's using it, so I gotta fight for time on it everyday. I've got a few links to share but I'll post them in my intro.

And yes, I guess you ARE right, I should do an intro too huh? I'm such a dork. *smacks self upside the head*

I first started in CC at 155lbs and wearing size 12 to 14 clothes, but after I made this site a part of my daily ritual, I have managed to go down to (and plateau at) 140lbs and size 8 to 10 clothes in less than 6 months. Yay!!

I don't know why, but my dumb, smug self was pretty darn sure I didn't need Calorie Count anymore after that, because I had lost so much already. That, and the fact that I was working full time, raising the rugrats, etc., were my main excuses for not using time on maintaining my weight.

I ended up gaining some of it back, and I realized it was because of work. Even when a friend of mine was trying to eat healthy, and we walked our entire lunch break away, we still ended up gaining or fluctuating. I worked with abused kids, so I guess stress played a huge part, and the fact that I didn't notice all of the snacking I was doing throughout the day from skipping lunch to walk, etc. Many of my coworkers were bigger than me, and they weren't too keen on supporting my weight loss if they weren't losing any. Know what I mean?

Anyways, I became a SAHM in Nov 2007, and then more recently I started going back to college in December 2008... I don't know if it's stress, or sitting around a lot for class (it's all online in front of this computer), or what, but my weight's back up to average around 143-145lbs. I have noticed, that time of the month jacks up my weight to 148lbs easy, so I don't weigh in during that time or else I will get depressed and possibly eat my weight in chocolate or something. LOL

I've been using the Wii Fit for the last 2 weeks, which I managed to blog about the other day cuz' we got it under weird circumstances. I love it, my family loves it, and we're probably also going to get that Jillian Michaels' game for the balance board as well. (It's 2-player.)

I'm Gaby, I'm from Venezuela... I'm 19 years old and currently studying last semester to be a Medical Imaging Tech.

Well, about weight loss... I was always the chubby girl, and I didn't really notice how I had packed on weight but as soon as I hit my senior year in HS, I realized that I needed to lose weight pronto. So, I was 176 pounds (shame) and managed to get down to 143 pounds... I went on a crazy crash diet, and then followed that by the advice of a nutritionist. I've struggled with keeping the habits I learned from her... Mom and I used to walk for an hour daily, then we got an elliptical machine and I used that 2x a day for 70min... Yes, I was quite insane. And as far as Calorie Count, I just stumbled upon this site but I don't really count calories... I tried it for a while but it's just not my style. I just eat sensible amounts of healthy foods and hope I'm doing alright.

Once school got stressful and I had a scholarship to work off, and internships along with having to study... Exercising went down the drain as did most of my healthy eating habits. I also went to Europe for a month, so no dieting there! And this resulted in my current 149 pounds weight that I desperately want to get down to at least 125 pounds or so. I have started back on this journey with the Wii Fit that we got in October and I was using religiously for about, a month? And then quit. This time, I've been going strong for 3 weeks, now. And I haven't lost motivation, yet! Which is good considering I'm pretty darn tired thanks to school and work, lol.

As you can see, I can talk a lot. On the Wii Fit, I've been doing a routine of an hour daily or so of yoga and some toning exercises (the ones I can actually do without nearly dying :D). I also still use my elliptical daily, I think I am addicted to my endorphins, now. ;)

I know all about that school stress crap!  I've got my 2 kids and I'm going back to college... all sitting on my big behind for the courses, but it's still stressing as heck!  Last night, caffeine couldn't keep me up & motivated to do my assignment, so I was snacking on a raisin+white chocolate chip mix...  Not something I'd usually munch on but the sugar gave me the jump start I needed to get my assingment turned in 1 minute before the deadline! ROFL

I know, I can't be doing that - just adds to stress & the weight!

Anyways, hope everything goes well for you, maybe we can keep each other motivated and get down to our weight goals!

Welcome to the group!

Hello, I'm Tabi. I'm 24 years old, 5'7", and right now, I'm 155lbs. I'd like to get down to 140, so about 15 lbs. I've never really had to worry about weight until I started college. Yep, gained the freshman 15. Well, technically I gained the freshman 35, but we won't get into that. I just want to get back down to at least 140, if not down to 130, but I'll worry about that once I do the first milestone.

I've been using calorie count for about 2 years, and because of my lack of self control, I've only lost about 10lbs total, but then gained it all back. I can't stay with the whole 1200 calories a day, so yea.

I looove my Wii. I'm on my Wii Fit for 30 minutes a day (I've made it a chore to do for the time being, trying to get at least 30 minutes of exercise a day in it) Since I'm doing the exercising for that length of time EVERYDAY, I'm seeing how much I can lose by just doing the Wii Fit for 30 days. If I'm down to 150 by the end of March, hell, I'll be one happy camper!! HAHA.

I just quit my job, because of how much I hated it. My mental stability and my happiness was worth more than that place. Currently, looking for new employment, hopefully close to home so maybe I can walk to work and earn some extra exercising on the way. I live with my fiance, who is a snackaholic. Thankfully he eats junk food that I can't stand, so it makes it easier.

Another tidbit, I restore vintage Volkswagens. I have a 66 Beetle, completely finished, and a 72 Karmann Ghia that we just got in January 2009.

to esoterixia, thanks for the invite.

to all, hi and glad to meet you!

i packed on a few extra pounds after getting married/sedentary. luckily i didn't put on too much more with either pregnancy, but didn't take off too much more either. LOL

i joined cc in june '08 mostly as a lark. i had not seriously ever considered calorie counting and never expected weight loss to be this easy. easy that was until i got down to these last 15 pounds.  Yell

like several of you i've just recently got the fit. looked for it for a while, but when the came in they sold out faster than i could get to the store. (now of course they are EVERYWHERE!) i love to hear how others are doing with their weight loss adventures and am looking for the same from this group.

i'm wife of 19 years and mother to two boys, 6 and 2-1/2. until this past friday i worked outside the home and dad stayed home with da boys. but this horrible economy has REALLY hit home and i just spent my first day of "laid off" getting my paperwork together for unemployment. Tongue out

Thanks for creating this group!  We have moved and the Wii is stil packed up! : ( But this will help me motivate my fiance to set it up even if it won't be its permanent home!

Ahh, weight loss .. After my mom passed away in 2006 it is as though I ballooned out of control.  I was getting close to 200lbs which was absolutely mortifying and depressing.  I am 29 5'4" and now about 185lbs. I have been using calorie counter since August 2008 but not seriously . .  and . . . have not been using it for the past few weeks which is why I am here because I gained once again.

We finally set a wedding date of 10/2/09 so I am thankful to have a target but now I need to end the self sabotage.  I am a 100% emotional eater and somewhat of a closet case.  I will eat the entire box of cookies and then hide it in the bottom of the garbage so that no one sees.  We have pretty much rid our house of any "bad" items and try to limit our portions but I sometimes cave and out of laziness would rather just order a pizza.

I am a vegetarian border line vegan so you would think weight loss would not be an issue.  I eat a good amount of fruit, veggies, whole grains, and beans but there is also the dark side of processed foods and of course junk food !

I am looking to lose 10lbs a month and at least get down to 140 lbs by the wedding.  (Hopefully sooner so that the first time in years I can wear shorts this summer)

Hopefully this group will help motivate me and get me on that wii fit !   (I also see a trainer twice a week, so I am hoping this weeks gain is just some much needed muscle mass)

I am Eric,

I live in East Tennessee.

I currently weigh 222.5# and am trying to shed some weight

I am a father of 2 and do not have time for a gym... but in High School I was active in the gym with the football team. (I didn't play football, I just worked out with them)

I joined calorie count to track my intake and burn of calories and started at 229#.  I have lost a 6.5 pounds already and am looking to loose a good deal more.

I use the Wii fit as a scale primarily, however I do play some of the games from time to time.  I have unlocked every block but some of the yoga poses are out of my reach yet. (no holding my feet up towards the ceiling while lying on my shoulders for my big gut)

I am trying to loose the weight in order to improve my run and sprint times.  This is a personal goal for me as I am trying to prepare for the PFT exam for entrance into the FBI.

Hi! My name is Cheryl.

I love Wii fit. I was doing it routinly through the summer and started traveling and broke the habit. Now I am out of the country until the end of this month and am still waiting to get back to it. Once I return - April 1st _ I will get back on track with this method of exercise and keep involved in this post.

I am walking 7500 steps a day minimum in the meantime and doing the Jillian from the Biggest Losers Shred in 30 days (it is a killer for 20 minutes a day). But I found that my core stregnth and endurance picked up like crazy when I stayed true to the wii. My favorite is the step routine and boxing. I started doing the yoga and strength items to get some core strength back.

1. History with weight loss: I way about 50 pounds too much SW:200, CW: 185.5
2. History with Calorie Count: I just got started with this program a few days ago
3. Reason for joining this group: I really love the wii fit and want to see what you all do to make it work for you
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I am semi-retired but when I work I travel internationally. I also have a place in Cayman where I am spending one month now. My husband and I are both hooked up to pedometers and are walking like maniacs. He is a driven thing. :-)  I used to be in trucking and insurance but sold that business in 2002. I have two mini aussie shephards that I miss when we come to Cayman because the condo won't approve anything but lap dogs but we have a friend they love who keeps them for us. I have two sons in college, one step-daughter in college and one step-son going to college next year. :-(

I feel like I'm spamming this forum if I were to reply in separate posts, so for the sake of keeping things neat and anal-retentive Wink, I'm replying to several folks via this one post.  Hope you can keep up!

bittenkittenx - I just started going back to college too, and I think stress does a lot of this weight gain thingy for me.  That, or I am just making excuses... Innocent  As for quitting your job - I worked with abused kids, so yeah - the stress and depression sometimes just isn't worth it!  Most of the people I worked with were overweight and on happy pills of some sort...  So finding a job that makes you happy also affects your health.  We all have enough worries at home, no need to go somewhere else (work) for more.

satyrswoman - 19yrs?!  Wow, that's a loooong marriage!  Congrats!  Sorry about the unemployment; I know the paperwork alone is a pain.  But hopefully things will start getting better economy-wise.  it's gotta come to a halt from its downward spiral first, before it can start climbing back up, but hopefully it'll be a swift upward movement.

meredith921 - Wow, I don't know if I can stay away from meat.  I mean, I have a thing against people who hunt animals for fun/sport because I feel that it's not fair unless you fork out a shotgun for the animal too...  But that hasn't stopped me from eating meat.  As for your Wii Fit, get it unpacked already! Wink

shandrake - You sound like a physically active person.  Have you considered that maybe some of that weight isn't fat, but muscle?  Some of those yoga poses can be a pain, but lemme tell ya - stay away from the Spinal Twists under strength!  They HURT!  At least, I still hurt. *ouch*  Good luck with your PFT exam; I was in the military for 8yrs, so constant physical testing was the norm for me.  I don't miss running in step with a flight of long-legged women, I'll tell you that much! Laughing

vcwinc - You sound like a physically active person as well.  Walking 7500 steps is huge for me.  I don't quite recall, but I thought that you should walk 2,500 a day for maintenance, more for weight loss -- is that right?  So you're on the right track!  Besides, I bet the view there is much much better than looking at the Wii Fit screen at home. Wink

Welcome to everyone, hope to see more discussions going on in this group's forums.  I don't know about you all, but I use the CC journal to log the day's measurements and activities, so if you're curious -- feel free to take a peek.  I will be peeking in on your profiles to see if you do the same, & see how things are going, etc.

Welcome to the group!

Hi! My name is Meg. I'm a senior in college and am 21 years old. I've always been a little chubby but going on birth control in high school really put on the pounds. Starting at age 13, I went from a healthy 145 to my highest weight 192 during my senior year of high school. I joined CC 2 years ago and got my weight down to 165 over the course of a summer. Unfortunately, stress and college ruined my progress over a year and a half and I slowly gained back all my weight (talk about disappointing!). Now I'm back and have lost 12 pounds thus far (currently 180).

I actually do not own a Wii, but my best friend does! Much like myself, she is losing weight to get healthier and we have a sort of buddy system going on. I'm a regular gym go-er, but with my busy schedule sometimes the gym isn't an option somedays. On these days I use WiiFit, which is much more fun than the gym and provides some variety. I really love the yoga poses.

After I graduate college, I am going to return to my choice sport: rugby. I played for two years at my old college before I transferred out. I also hope to attempt publishing my thesis after I graduate college (I'm an English major).  Speaking of graduation! My goal is to be in the 160's come May. We'll see how that goes!

Hi everyone! My name is Gwen and I'm 36 years old. We've had our Wii Fit since Christmas and I used to use it diligently - every day! - but now it's more like 3-5 times a week. I like tracking my BMI with it but I don't really use it as my main method of exercise.

1. History with weight loss: My weight has been creeping up over the years and I finally decided in December 2008 that it was time to do something about it. I'm short (5'1) and weighed 179 lbs in December. I've been counting calories and exercising at least 30 minutes a day since then and my weight is currently 164 lbs. It's slow going but so worth it!

2. History with Calorie Count: I joined CC either in December or January. I don't use it to log my food (I have a separate notebook for that) but I love reading the forums and I look up nutritional information here all the time.

3. Reason for joining this group: I love my Wii Fit and I'm interested in hearing about how other people use it. I'd also like to learn more about other methods of exercise and weight-loss you can do with the Wii.

4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I work at a university in diabetes research and I've been here for almost three years. I'm married to a meat-loving man and we've been together for almost 14 years. He loves to cook but his idea of a meal is marinated elk loins cooked on the grill - yummy, but where are the veggies? We've been working on that (LOL). We have an 11-year-old DS but he's more interested in Guitar Hero than Wii Fit. We also have a sweet black and white cat named Tucker Jables (he's my avatar). My interests include reading, exercising, stamping (I'm a Stampin Up demonstrator), hiking, skiing, playing Wii Fit and with my Nintendo DS, cooking, traveling, etc.

I'm looking forward to being part of this group! Thanks for the invite, esoterixia!

I am becoming more active.  I am a computer technician by trade and have built up a good deal of table muscle to match the job.  I have started the P90X workout program to lean up and run every other day.  I am only up to 1.1 miles, but once I get to the 1.2 mile mark (a full lap at my county park) I will be able to push it further (into the 1.5 at least) as the trail goes back down hill at that point.  I just cant make it back up the hill at the last little stretch.  Grabbing some lead foot music to try to pump myself up today.

just joined the group.  i got a wii fit for christmas which is what i wanted, but i have been looking for folks to do it with me.... i just got the jullian michales 2009 and did (or tried to do)  15 minutes of medium impact.  Oh my gosh, she kicked my ba-tootie (as my son says it) and i know tomorrow i will be filling the effects.  I have been trying to lose weight FOREVER.  i am a self-proclaimed psycho diet princess --- that is someone who owns everything under the sun to try to lose weight.  Including now a wii.  I battle with an autoimmune disease- i just consider a bump in the road, but when i am on, i have to take prednisone and cellcept.  those meds make this journey a little more challanging, but what is life without a challange.  i currenly am at 149.1 and am 5'1" (on a good day).  I want to be 115.  Looking forward to wii fitting with ya'all.

Hi All,

My name is Rosanne and I live in Canada.

I joined CC in Jan 09.  I am 45 yrs old, 5'4" and weighed 147lbs when I started and am down to 142.2lbs and am trying to get to at least 135 if not 130.  I have been having a difficult time losing weight and keeping it off...I seem to go down then up again, but this is the most I have lost so far.

I just love my Wii Fit...I got it about the same time that I started counting my calories.  I have definitely noticed that I have toned up since I started using it.  I love the yoga (except for the tree...my balance isn't that great).  I usually end up doing all of the yoga, strength and aerobics at least 3 to 4 times a week...this week has been bad though...haven't been able to stay asleep at night so too tired to excercise...but I'm heading there right after posting this.

I was glad to find this group, because people who haven't used it or are avid gym goers don't fully understand how much motivation this tool gives us people who aren't really into the gym scene.

Hello to whoever is reading this Laughingmy names Nitza  im 17 and overweight :( im 5'9 and 260 lbs

1. History with weight loss:

i've tried to do alot of excercising, and eating less fattening foods but im always tempted to eat a burger and when i do i go back to my old habits when i was 14 i weighed about 140 and i hit a depression which i feel took over my life, i am an emotional eater and worry alot, so i've had trouble losing weight and keeping it off at some point last year i hit another depression which i stopped eating for 2 weeks and lost about 15 lbs, my mom knew it wasnt healthy so i started taking medications which made me gain weight again Embarassed and i stopped taking the meds cause i knew if i kept taking them i would probably start gaining more weight when i stopped taking them i stayed at 260 and ive been 260 i dont gain weight and i dont lose weight,

2. History with Calorie Count:

i just joined CC yesterday when i googled on losing weight and medications and stuff, i read a story that i could really relate to so i said what the heck, and im giving it a try still trying to figure out this whole calorie thing lol

3. Reason for joining this group:

i heard the Wii-fit was really helpful for some people and some people like me who dont like to go out in public this would benefet them, unfortunatly i cant afford it lol, but id like to know opinions and how its worked for them so i can start saving money for one

4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests:

lets see im currently looking for a job have applied at some places like fast food restaurants which i know is not good for me but like everyone says its a job, i dropped out of school when i was in 10th grade because i was made fun of because of my weight, which is why i went through a long depression, i'm really distant with my family, since most of my family is skinny and only about 3 of my family members are big, my interests consist of video games, and watching comedies, i really dont have a hectic life cause i really dont like going outside, i have very few friends because i dont like to be the "big girl" in the groups which i have been so i just like to keep to myself,

hope to meet more people on here :) and here reviews and opinions about the wii-fit Laughing or if you would like to talk and give me any tips on dieting message me :)

Hello & welcome to all the new members, willowanimaeris, gwenniejo7, elizajk, bossy64, bobaface100.  I hope you're getting some good poundage loss on those Wii Fit!  Feel free to browse thru this group's forum for workout routines and other fitness-related games for the Wii.  If you start slacking or need more motivation, just pop into this group...  Any one of us are here to cheer everyone else on, while breaking out a sweat ourselves. LOL

Hi, I feel really ancient and decrepit when I dip into some of the Wii Fit groups...but here goes

1. History with weight loss: I've been chubby, I've been skinny, I've been normal weight...but about 20 years ago I got obese, and my first efforts were simply to stop gaining! Finally did sort of. After that I tried a gym...yuck...and Weight Watchers (very expensive) and didn't have much luck.

2. History with CC, joined in May 2008 (almost a year now) and I've lost 20 lbs, which is terrific for me. I'm 60 and the weight doesn't fall off me the way it did at say 30. I've learned to plan, shop cook and log my food a week in advance. I've found some really good food ideas on the CC recipe forums. I love journaling and posting, and the games are fun, too. I'm currently enrolled in the April Weight Loss challenge and the April Exercise challenge.

3. Reason for joining this group: Wii fit. It's really cool, and I like it. It actually gets me up off the couch for a few minutes in the evenings after dinner. That has helped me become more active, improve my posture, stand straighter. I have arthritis and I've been walking and standing cockeyed for years, so this helps.

4. Interesting? I live with my 24 yr old son; my twin daughters live in Miami: a doctor & a lawyer, thanks for asking! I have been working in sales support for a manufacturer for a long time, and hope to retire in a few years. I own a home in a small town outside Atlanta, and my brother planted some beautiful trees & bushes for me which have survived the drought!

Hi

I'm back i have been on and off this site for a couple of years never really using it properly so i am back to stick with it this time.

I try and use my wii daily and have enjoyed it I do get a bit bored of it. I have seen a personal trainer thing for the wii and wondered if anyone has used this and if it is any good.  I need to keep interested and occupied.

I have two puppies which now when i walk with them i try and jog with them in the mornings. I have managed about 20mins so hope i can stick at it !

I am currently a size 12/14 and would love to be a size 10 I have lost about 7lbs in the last couple of months but want to be lose a further 15lbs by June time when i graduate .

I just need some encouragement and motivation !!
