And now just go ahead and make that first post!
Hello.
I will be having my second baby in September, and am anxious to get started back to fitness! I've maintained my weight overall within five pounds or so most of my adult life. I work at a desk, so I have to pay attention to what I eat sometimes esp. after the winter months.
I have a five year old son already, and enjoy reading and writing. I like to do pilates, but have trouble sticking to routines.
Hello!
My history with weight loss... let's call it weight gain!
I had a great metabolism up until about 21. My husband and I purchased our first home when we were 21 and 24, and I guess I just got really lazy after that. You know, the "happy weight" that is said to be gained when you find your true love, watching movies snuggled on the couch, etc., but I never had to exercise before to maintain my 126 lb body, so I never really got into that routine. Thus, the weight gain began.
My most heavy before pregnancy was about 185. After I had my son, I weighed less than I did before I got pregnant, so I thought this was a good start to get the weight off, but it came back and brought many friends, and I got up to 201.
I'm now eating a lot better and we are trying to get out for walks as a family at least 4 times a week, though the past week hasn't worked out very well.
I joined Calorie Count Plus becuase I knew I was an emotional eater. I wanted to track my eating and emotions to find connections between the two - and it snowballed into an obsession that I am proud of. I enjoy tracking my ups and downs, seeing what I need to improve and what I'm doing correctly.
I thought this might be a good group for me because as much as I want to lose the extra weight, I don't want to take time away from my son. I work full time and feel that I don't get enough time with him as it is! I am hoping to get some good ideas and insight from other people in similar situations.
My family is my life. I love my husband to death, and I simply could not live without my precious baby boy. I really enjoyed being pregnant and I'm looking forward to having another baby sometime within the next year or so. We have two dogs, two cats, two fish. We both own our own business and hold down full time jobs.
Similar story here: been slim all my life, even did high-impact aerobics to stimulate appetite and gain weight. Then I met my true love and gained 10 lbs each year since. I eat much less and lose a bit of weight without exercise when I'm under stress, which happens rarely now when my husband likes to cook or take me out to cheer me up.
Accidentally stumbled on CalorieCount only this month when I officially became a stay-at-home mom and wanted to take advantage of the free time to lose weight. I have been visiting this site regularly since, updating my food and activity logs. The analyzer has been very helpful, especially because I'm trying different recipes. I still love to eat good food and don't think I have to compromise on flavor just because CC says I am limited to 1200/day. The articles, journals, and posts have been helpful. It was shocking to learn that spot reduction is a myth. I joined this group cause I was curious.
My husband and I are overseas teachers. Don't hate me, but where we live right now we can afford a cook and nanny; besides the fact that our international school superintendent also allowed me to take a year off.
Although overweight I was good at controlling my weight gain during pregnancy. Then at 8th months I developed preeclampsia and had to deliver by C-section at 34 weeks. Baby spent a week at NICU, and was only 3.5 lbs when we brought him home. I expressed until he gained 2 lbs after a month, by then he was already used to the bottle. It took us 2 frustrating weeks to get him to nurse for 5-10 mins. At any rate, I had to get back to work after 3 months and gave up nursing, which would have been a good way to burn calories. My birth control pill, while nursing, was the single hormone type and it made me crave sweets like crazy. Although I don't have a sweet tooth I was soon eating cupcakes, cookies, ice cream, and other treats. Needless to say, when we came home from our summer trip home (Philippines and US) I was shocked to find I weighed almost the same the week I gave birth.
I switched back to my old pill, bought more exercise videos, two sets of dumbells, and here I am. After exercising 2 hours a day (weekdays) beginning Aug. 7 I'm pleased to finally get back to my "after-delivery" weight of 140, losing at least 5 lbs and 3 inches around the waist. Am still far from my ideal weight of 110, but will be thrilled if I can get it down to 120 when we celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary in Phuket, Thailand (where we got married) so I won't see flabs when I put on a bathing suit.
My name is Sam and I am 20 years old with a beautiful baby boy who is 8 months old. I gained weight during the last month of my pregnancy and I've completely ballooned since! Nothing seems to work for me! I have lost about 15 pounds since I delivered but sometimes I just don't think it's fast enough! I want my old body back (135lbs)!I am a stay-at-home mom in Georgia.
I have never been really "skinny" but I have been average most of my life. My skinniest was 120lbs when I was 17 and ran almost every day. However back then losing 5 or 10 lbs was nothing....now I am faced with a much bigger scale to defeat and I would like to meet people with similar experiences.
I found this website on google while I was looking for a calorie counter; I was going to do a diet on my own but I happened upon this site and I thought, "why not?" When I saw this group I decided to join because it seems like you all are in the same boat as me!
I have begun doing aerobics workouts at home and walking on the treadmill at least an hour a day. I have also cut down on fatty/junk foods to eliminate unnecessary calories. I guess time will tell as I've only begun to get serious about this whole weight loss issue.
If anyone has some suggestions that would be great!
Hi my name is Donna and I am 28 years old. I am the mother of 3 toddlers (4 1/2 years, 3 years & 7 months). I put on my weight after having my last child and now am feeling the pinch of chasing after them all. I want to loose about 20 kg's and then I would feel much better about myself. I have not previously dieted using any sort of calorie counting or anything like that so any help & suggestions are much appreciated.
well after i had my daughter i gained weight and i dont like it i used to weigh like 110 and now i am 140 with belly fat and i want to get rid of it i am 19 and married
Hey my name is Amanda, I am 22 years old and have a wonderful daughter who is almost two (in October)... Through out my life I was never one of the "smaller" girls, always had a few extra lbs on me until after high school. After I left my parents house (in a very small town) I moved to a bigger city, got a gym membership, and started eating healthy. It was all melting away and I felt amazing. Being a size 12/13 most of my teenage years going down to a size 6 felt awesome and I loved my new active life! I have since had a child and I gained an overwhelming 80 lbs making me the heaviest I've ever been! I've lost a lot of the weight by going to the gym and eating healthy... Being a single mother and working long hours to pay bills I couldn’t afford living on my own and had to opt to moving back with my parents... that’s when it started, I gained back 15 of 45 lbs I had lost after having my daughter. Living with my parents gives me full access to junk food and laziness...
I joined a few months ago though I didn’t really stay consistent with logging my food and activity due to having two jobs and the little one, I just couldn’t find the time... I feel the need to nip this in the butt and get consistent with CC.
I work for an internet based company and have the opportunity to currently work from home, I have given up my second job to be able to spend more time with my daughter and more time to take care of myself.
I really joined this group to help me with the motivation to stay consistent.. I like the ability to have an outlet and be surrounded by others who are going through the same things.
Hi everyone I'm Katie I am 29 and holding strong although I am knocking on the door to twenty ten lol. I have two beautiful daughters ages 6 and 4 and have recently become a stay at home mom.
My reletionship with weight has been like the stories of the other ladies here. I was super skinny through high school and the first part of college. I was a size 5, long legs, tiny waist topping maybe 115 pounds at 5'7. When I got pregnant with Anna I shot up to 170 and struggled to lose the weight, after the baby I was sporting a size 16 but with exercise (no dieting) I got down to a size 6 just in time to get pregnant with Allie. After Allie I dropped down to a size 10 which was a massive improvement from the size 16 I was after Anna. Then I got on the Depo shot and it was like I was Godzilla I couldn't eat enough. I jumped up to a size 14 and looked like I was pregnant again.
That's when I found CC I started exercising again and took myself off Depo. My appetite subsided, gone were the days of the crazy woman yelling "Feed Me!!!!" I have since dropped about 15 pounds and have been hovering around 160 since.
I have since started working out on the Wii using the Wii Fit program and LOVE IT! I did boxing yesterday and girls let me tell you, I feel the burn! I had to take a break today because I was so sore but it felt good. i may not be losing weight, but I can see small results.
I joined this group because I am a stay at home mom and wanted to be able to talk to other mommies that are going through the same things that I am. Like waking up super tired in the morning and have to FIGHT the urge to have a nice cold pepsi to take that edge off. Guilty here, just this morning actually.
Interests. Hmmm I love to take pictures and to scrapbook them. Although lately I've been doing alot of purchasing of scrapbooking paper but not really using it. I look forward to getting to know everyone and trying to help in anyway that I can!
Hi there, I'm Samantha and I'm a busy 34 year old mother of a 3 1/2 yr old and a 23 month old. I've never been the smallest in my group of friends but I had been able to maintain my weight until about 13 years ago when I got into a pretty bad relationship. During which my weight balloned to around 250lb, much to much for my 5'6" frame. When I met my husband I was finally able to stop gaining but I didn't really start trying to lose till a year before our wedding 5 years ago. At that time I managed to lose 50lbs, at the time I was very happy with that. Then when I got pregnant my metabolism decided to go into high gear and I actually had problems keeping weight on during it. Within 24 hours of delivering my daughter at 34 weeks I was 10lbs lighter than before I even got pregnant, you'd think that would be awesome right, but no cause as soon as I stopped nursing my metabolism then crashed. No matter what I did I could not even maintain my weight never mind lose any. Later found out that this was normal in my family so for pregnancy #2 I went into it very well prepared and yes the same thing happened again. Both times it took me almost a year after stopping nursing to get my metabolism back into gear and it has been a struggle just to maintain and to not gain.
So last week we finally got my elliptical trainer put together & I finally unpacked my pilates dvd's, in the last week I lost 10lbs! So psyched to finally see some weight come off again. I sat down last night and started my food journal and was very pleased to see that I was pretty well right on target for my calories, would have been right on if I hadn't had a Caramel Machiato, oh well. Kind of expect a little higher loss this week since I think I'm still retaining a bit of water and for once I'm finally excited about working out. Guess it makes it a little more encouraging when your working hard and you have 2 little cheerleaders sitting next to you chanting "go mommy go" and asking if it's time to do our workout (I think it's just cause they want to watch cartoons in the living room).
Well, I'm 25 and I have a 3 month old baby boy. Before pregnancy I was 120 lbs and 5'7, size 3. Now I'm 150 and a size 9. I know I'm not huge but it's enough to make me feel defeated and unhappy with my body. The funny thing is, I felt the same way when I was a size 3, now I can hold those jeans up and truly appreciate how tiny I was. My weight has always fluctuated and it took ALOT of hard work to get my eating habits stable enough to maintain that. My biggest problem now is making myself eat like I used to. My fiancee and I are both trying to get back into shape, he actually gained more weight while I was pregnant than I did lol. I think the hardest thing about diet and exercise after a baby is just finding the time and energy. I haven't gotten the green light to do so until now, I hemorrhaged and had severe anemia. Anyway, I think this site can help tremendously, especially with making myself make healthier food choices if I have to look at everything I've eaten.
Hi my name is Jen. I'm 35 years old and just had my first baby this April, a boy named Aedan. I joined recently because I need to lose about 40lbs. I've never had good eating habits but I never really had a problem with weight in the past. I believe it was because I always had a very physical job. Now I have a desk job (for the first time in my life). The new job and the pregnancy have caused me to gain way to much weight. I feel very sluggish and unhealthy. I'm still trying to learn how to use this site but so far it's been a tremendous help. Hopefully if I can stick to my diet plan i can lose the weight by the end of May.
Hi everyone my name is Kelli. I'm 26 and I have a 8 month old little boy. I gained 42 pounds while I was pregnant and have lost 20 so far. I seem to have stalled out on losing more weight and I am desparate to get back to my prepregnancy weight of 150. I am trying to watch what I eat, I do the elliptical 3 times a week as well as free weights. I am hoping to lose all of the weight by January when my little guy turns a year old. If any one has any suggestions for weight loss or just motivating tips I would love them!
hi all! My name is Megan. I have a 21 month old little guy. I lost all of my pregnancy weight but like I tell my friends, I gained my weight in my pre-mester. I gained 20 pounds after i got married and now am finally getting motivated enough to lose it. I thought I could eat like my husband and not gain weight! Ha!
One thing I found out, how the heck do you get enough exercise with little dude running around? I stay at home and I don't have a gym with a babysitting service. Any suggestions?
I am currently using Turbo Jam during naptime and have had success so far. But, if I know me, I'm going to get bored of it soon enough.
Wow Kelli! It looks like you're doing awesome as it is! It looks like you're on your way to making your goal. I wish i had your self-motivation! : )
Hello all,
Just would like to say I am glad that I found this community, I am at wits end trying to loose weight. I was 103lbs before joining the military, then got up to 110lbs which was fine after my first year in the Army. I then decided to have my son at 20 years old which I figured would help being so young maybe me body would bounce back, Boy was I wrong. I got up to 199lbs when I was pregnant, thats just before I gave birth. After giving birth I went down to 175lbs, then I decided to get on the DEPO shot. I stayed at 175lbs, being on the Depo for about 2yrs I got off and lost weight 1year later . I went down to 145lbs which I was OK with but felt that I needed to loose more. I then found my BOYFRIEND and got back on the depo shot for about 6 months then went back up to 170lbs, I recently got off the depo shot again I switched to paragard (IUD) about a month and a half now, but still weigh 170lbs.
My son is now 5 years old and I still look a hot mess. I do have a boyfriend which I stated earlier, we have been together for 1 year now, I have a 4 year old black lab, pitbull, chow mix, thats the love of my life.
I just started calorie counting today, so this is new to me but fun. I work full time for the Ferderal Goverment.
1. History with weight loss: I have been up and down since I was 14 I went from 170 to 135 over a summer the unhealthy way. Then did that on and off until I got pregnant last summer. I am not 157 and trying to get back to the 120-130 range by my baby's 1 year bday at the end of may.
2. History with Calorie Count:I feel that this is the beginning of a long healthy relationship.
3. Reason for joining this group: To have other people in a similar situation.
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: My baby is my everything and I love working out once I get into the habit of it but I am having trouble getting into a routine. Since I am only 21 I want to have a body that looks its age! I have a very atractive husband who happens to be a flirt and since there are so many skinny little promiscus girls out there I want my body back so that I can feel more comfortable and feel like I have the upper hand. I know this makes me seem a little crazy but it's just reallyhard when you feel like you look your worst when most women my age look their best. It's hard to explain but if there is anyone out there who knows how I feel please send me a message.
1. History with weight loss: I never had trouble losing weight before I had kids. I was 24 the day after my 1st son was born, 25 with the 2nd, 26 with the 3rd and 30 when I had my 4th. I lost weight easily the 1st time but I was working part time and I think that helped. I haven't worked since. The 3rd time we went thru a real bad rough patch in our marriage and I had PPD really bad so I lost more weight than with the other 2 kids. This time I haven't lost anything. I actually gained bc I was craving milk while nursing. I would easily drink a gallon myself every 2-3 days. My son is 13 months and I am just now back to where I was after I gave birth to him. I don't have motivation this time around.
2. History with Calorie Count: I just signed up today and I
hope to find friends that are having some of the same issues so we can
help each other.
3. Reason for joining this group: My sister had planned her
wedding for May 15th and I wanted to look good in the LIME GREEN maid
of honor dress!! I weigh 145 and am 5 ft 3/4 inches! After 4 kids my
body will NOT look good in lime green! Anyway, she changed the date to
July but May is still my target. That way I can go to the lake with my
family when school gets out and feel great! I was 105 when My hubby and
I met in 1999 and 2 years later when I got pregnant the 1st time I was
117. My target weight according to CC is 115.2 lbs. I will def be happy
with that! Heck I would be happy at 125! I would love to be 105 again
but doubt that will ever happen again. We'll see! It's difficult to work out with 4 kids in tow. At least 2 of them are in school but then I still have to pay for a sitter if I want to go during the day...or pay the daycare at the gym...So I am trying to be motivated enough to work out while the kids are napping. Ugh! I have the Wii Fit and was doing that each day...for about a week lol! Now I would like to try the Core Rythem's DVD's bc they look FUN! http://www.corerhythms.com/index.html A friend may do it with me which would be awesome!!
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job,
your family, your pets and your interests: I am a SAHM and work
PDO-Parent's Day Out- at my church on Tuesday and Thursday. I have 4
boys (1st born 8-1-01, 2nd born 6-5-03, 3rd born 12-6-04 & 4th born
9-14-07) and have been married for almost 8 years. We have been
together almost 10 years. I do not have pets and I love to
scrapbook--only I haven't had time for that in the last 4 years. i
loove the outdoors. Love to camp and fish. Love to go to watch races
and Monster Trucks. I love to be involved with my kids' classes in
school but can't usually bc of the 2 smaller ones.
Hello my name is Amy and I have a 17 month old child. I was never overweight, I have a very small frame and I never had to exercise. After my child was born I've never been able to get to my pre-pregnancy weight. And I'm not fat by any means but I have these problem areas that won't go away and I'm used to not having to workout so it's been very difficult for me. And now that I'm a single mother, I need to tone up and feel better about myself and look presentable :) So here I am and hopefully this is the motivation I need to make that change.
1. History with weight loss: its been up and down for the past 15 years, now i'm on the upside and need to really get it down to a more managable weight. for heath reasons and family reasons.
2. History with Calorie Count: just joined but finding it very helpful.
3. Reason for joining this group: i am a 40 year old new mom again, i have a 19, 18 and now 5 month old. And for myself and my family i need to get my life back in order and that includes getting back to being healthy by losing the weight, balancing my life and maintaining the weightloss.
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: i am newly engaged to my youngest child's father. we are planning a very small wedding in early 2009. I have 2 older teenage daughters 19 and 18 and a new 5 month old son. 2 cats and a dog. I have a demanding career working for a major communication company along with my demanding family and limited time. but through all of this i am determined to lose this weight once and for all.
Hi- My name is Becky and I am 25. I am a new mom trying to lose those last 10 lbs. My son is now three months. I have always been petite, and still am by most standards, but would love to return to my pre-pregnancy weight.
Have never had to worry about counting calories and have always been a moderate exerciser. I am a full time teacher, plus am going to college to earn my Masters and am a new mom, so life is very busy for me right now.
