And now just go ahead and make that first post!
I've actually never been overweight, and my main reason for joining up here is to help me in my ever unsuccessful quest to put on weight. My main souces of motivation are my family and the mirror of course. I have been underweight for the majority of my life, and through doctor recommended diet, family suggestion, and overall gorging on food.
I just joined Calorie Count on August 18, because I am MORE than ready to utilize the help of my peers who have issues closely relating to my own in hopes that I will find a successful way to healthfully put on the weight in a safe manner rather than taking randomized shots in the dark and hoping something sticks. I am hoping to put on about 30-35 pounds, but without a goal date. My main goal is to fill out my lanky skinny body.
I recently attended and graduated college at Le Cordon Bleu in Mendota Heights, MN with a major in the culinary arts, and am now working at the restaurants in the Guthrie theaterin Minneapolis. I have a deep passion for food, both cooking and devouring. I am also very deep into music, and used to play drums, bass and guitar. I also spent my high school years performing in bands as vocals, and on previously mentioned instruments. Other than that, I live with my girlfriend, who also happens to be a part of Calorie Count with goals of her own. We live in Eagan, MN with 4 cats, and a 55 gallon tank of fish.
Anyway, that's me! Feel free to add me, and talk. I'm sure any help in any way will be very very useful!
hi, i've had an eatting disorder for the past couple years. i have gained 9-10 pounds and i'm here to gain my last 9-10 pounds to get to a healthy bmi of 18.5. : )

I am currently about 119 and i just want to get up to 125 so i can get through this part of my life. I am an athlete..and i am not allowed to participate in my sports until i reach 125..which is very difficult. I was forced to miss swim season for school this year. Also, i am 5 feet 4.5 inches.

Hey! I'm Audri. I have always been real small, about 105 lbs. I graduated from a University with a degree in Theater Performance in 2007 and moved out of the country to work in missions. Shortly after I got back to the USA, In February of this year, I was in a major car accident. A friend of mine was driving and just made a bad call. :( I broke my pelvis, part of my back, one of my feet, and lacerated my liver. :( I spent a few weeks hospitalized and then the months following in bed and a wheelchair. Anyways, I lost about 25 lbs during the process. I am finally walking again and I desperately need to gain weight. 80 lbs is just really not doing it for me. I am not healthy, and am suffering several ways because of it physically and medically, also I am not happy with the way I look. Anyways, I just needed to be able to see how many calories I was eating everyday, get tips on what I can do to up the calorie and protein content, and of course, be encouraged :)
Good luck all!! Any tips would be GREAT! If you love milkshakes I have quite the recipe:
1/2 cup Breyer's vanilla ice cream
3 tbsp. milk
3 tbsp. heavy whipping cream
2 crushed oreos
2 tbsp. peanut butter
2 tbsp. chocolate syrup
It is quite good, and has about 690 calories :) Not much of anything else beneficial but I have really been enjoying them :)

Anyways, if you want to gain weight stop eating all that junk food. They make other people fat, but it doesn't work the same for underweight people. You need to eat healthy meals that contain healthy sources of protein, carbs, healthy fats and vegetables. Set a daily calorie goal for yourself, start at a reasonable number, and then make sure to reach that amount every day using healthy foods only. Stay away from all the junk food you listed, especially the 3-4 cans of soday a day, omg, that's horrible!
Hi everyone, am Flo. I realised that i was underweight about 3-4yrs ago after i left college and started working. My sisters, who are all overweight as far as i am concerned pressured me to do something about my skinny self. I think i eat as much as i can every day but dont seem to see any changes. The day i think that i really look good or my butt has gotten bigger, someone meets me and says " have you lost weight?" That just puts me off and i become demotivated once again and sorry for myself. I am 5'4 and i weigh 100lbs (not good). I am 23 and I wish i was at least 10lbs heavier. I wear a size 0 in jeans and if we had -1 jeans in this country, i think they would fit much comfier. I joined CC to help me on my journey of putting on weight healthily. The stories of other members here have already inspired me and it lets me know that i am not alone on this journey. Other people make you feel as if being thin is a sin but they dont know how much you've tried to forgive yourself of that sin. Everyone would love to be the pe rfect size and my perfect size right now is 10lbs away.
Hello I'm Salih and I am on a quest to gain 20lbs. A few month ago I created a workout group where I posted a listing on craigslist to make connections with people from my area interested in working. Ifound a few people and we worked out regularly for 2 or so months at my place (I turned my dining room into a gym with most of the fixing). We took protein shakes, tracked our workouts, and even had a trainer come to ensure we were doing what we should be doing (nutritionally & physically) to meet our goals. the group went well until the members saw their bodies building and they one by one dropped off. I tried to restart the group by unsucessesfully.
I'm now trying to gain weight and workout by myself which is difficult because I work best in this situation with a partner. I'm 6'4", 190lbs, and 28 y/o. I joined this group to get tips and pointers to assist me in my weight gain goals. I have joined calorie count and I now track my daily calorie intake. I need to eat at least 3000 daily in order to gain weight, with my diet that can be hard. I'm not into sweets much, I don't do dairy, I only eat fresh veggies (cooked/uncooked), non-pork eater, brown rice, and not a fan of pasta or breads. If I do eat pasta or bread it is wheat. for the first time in my lift I went to the bakery this week and bought 3 sweets to reach my goal of 3000 calories. I reached my goal the 1st day but fell short the 2nd day; today is my 3rd day.
Hi, everyone just calls me Chico so let's start there. I have struggled for entire my life being underweight. I look in the mirror and always have seen a scrawny boy staring back. I eat consistently but guess my metabolism is too high. My diet sometimes can be erratic as I am in a very high pressure job in retail. My work day is full of movement and rarely do I get a chance to sit. I work anywhere from 9 to 14 hours a day ... and here comes Christmas! As the holiday approaches I lose even more weight. This is the year it has to stop. My goal is to put on 35 to 40 pounds and maintain it. For those of us who have struggled with this, someone telling me, "you're so lucky to be thin" or "you look too thin" sometimes is just as bad as hearing that your butt is too big! I hope to gain support as I start this quest ... I am tired of being skinny with a little pot belly.
Exercise and 3300 calories a day. That is my goal. Will try to exercise, but my job already moves me around a lot. Wish me luck.... Chico
1. History with weight loss:
Since I was very little, I have struggled with a variety of serious abdominal and intestinal problems. When I was five I suffered my first attack of (then-undiagnosed) Superior Mesenteric Artery Syndrome - a compression of the small intestines by the abdominal aorta and the SM artery due to a significant lack of body fat, ultimately leading to death by starvation and dehydration or intestinal perforation if left untreated. (Never heard of SMA Syndrome? Check out the Wikipedia Encyclopedia Article I authored and provided the photos and diagrams for). At one point, I could not keep down anything I ate or drank, not even water. If my stomach was already empty, I would gag up the saliva I swallowed, or pure stomach-acid. At the age of five, I weighed less than 20 pounds. I had almost no fat on my body, and nearly all my muscle had been cannibalized. I could hardly sit up in bed, let alone walk. My body was to the point of digesting its organs. It took six months to recover (temporarily, little did I know) but have been severely underweight since. My doctor believes I probably will continue to be underweight to some degree for the rest of my life. For the Spring and Fall '08 semesters, I am on medical leave from the University of Virginia due to my recurrent SMA Syndrome and multiple complications. On January 31st, I had a fairly major surgery (duodenojejunostomy - You may read of my "hilariously horrific" hospital experiences in my CC Journal), though recovering from the operation is nothing compared to recouping the long-term damage SMAS has done. Every day is still a struggle; every bite still hits my stomach like broken glass; every step I take literally brings me closer to exhaustion. I may not "look sick" to passerby, but having the blood-cell count of a cancer patient, the weight of a ten-year-old, and the digestion capacity of a 90-year-old makes it hard to attempt normal life. It changes you, to be diagnosed with a life-threatening condition that affects only 0.013% of Americans. I've learned first-hand that I honestly do not fear death, because of my trust in Christ. In January 2008, my cardiologist told me I was only a few pounds away from heart failure. According to the World Health Organization, a body mass index (BMI) under 18.5 is considered underweight, under 16 is starvation and under 15 indicates a danger of organ failure and cardiac arrest. My "starting BMI," at 74 pounds, was a 12.5. (By now, I have battled my way up to 86 pounds). People in the street have stopped me and told me that my "super-skinny body is to die for." They don't know just how frighteningly true their words are. Yet, throughout this entire ordeal, my faith in the Lord has only strengthened. :)

I am seeking support in my battle against SMA Syndrome -> so I may gain enough weight to get a period -> so, one day, I may marry and have CHILDREN!

Hi everyone! I'm Sasha.
1. History with weight loss:
I never used to think about weight
or food. I've always been thin; I'm 5' 4.5" tall and the heaviest I've
ever been was 110 pounds. I've been dealing with eating issues since
around November 2007. I'm not exactly sure what triggered my eating
disorders (orthorexia, anorexia), but I have a few ideas. My brother
always used to call me fat, though it was said jokingly. I was already
feeling self conscious because I thought my stomach stuck out a bit,
but I guess it didn't bother me enough to do anything about it. On top
of that, in my junior year of high school a girl I talked to
occasionally made a comment about how she wore a size 1 jean and it
made me feel bad because I was a size 3. By the start of my senior year
of high school (September 2007) I really started having self esteem
issues and then by November I started watching what I ate and
exercising like crazy. And now I weigh about 71 pounds. I officially
decided I want to recover about a month ago, and even though I've
increased my calories I've actually lost a couple pounds. Losing that
little bit of weight makes me even more determined to recover though.
It really freaked me out when I saw the scale say 71 because I know I
could die from this. I don't want to die. I just turned 18 years old on Sunday and I still have my whole life ahead of me. And I'm going
to live it!
2. History with Calorie Count
I joined this site in March 2008
and originally used it to track my low calorie intake, which I'm not
proud of...but now I use it to make sure I am eating enough.
3. Reason for joining this group:
I joined this group because I
want to be healthy again. I hate the way I look and I hate how this
disease has hurt the people I care about as well as myself. I want to
get better. I also want to support everyone else here and exchange
advice on how to get through recovery.
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests:
I love animals! I have 2 cats and 1 dog whom I love dearly. I'm
interested in fashion and hope to be a fashion designer someday. I
enjoy sewing, reading, cooking, music, my friends & family, and
going to my cottage. My favorite band is The Beatles.
1. History with weight loss:
I used to be a healthy 127 pounds at 5'7. At that time, I was rowing at quite a high level, and that meant a lot of training. Unfortunately, I damaged my knee quite badly and have been out of rowing for over a year now whilst it heals. Not being able to exercise properly, combined with the stress of exams, sent me into a spiral of semi-eating disorder, and I've lost 20 pounds. I've bobbed around a bit at the 110-112 mark, but a recent holiday in Morocco has seen me at my lowest ever weight, and I'm not happy with how I feel or look anymore.
2. History with Calorie Count:
I've just joined, so none really.
3. Reason for joining this group:
I want to get healthy again, and any support or tips I can get off here would be very welcome.
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests:
I'm a third year medical student at Cambridge university. The oldest of four kids, I have three younger brothers (but no pets). I love acting, writing, reading and films, but above all sports and in particular rowing. I rowed for my college first boat in my first year, and my crew got blades two terms in a row.
I've lived all over the place - born in Paris, then lived in stockholm, Hong Kong and Geneva - and I still love to travel and explore new cultures. I'm a big foodie too, and I love baking above all. If there isn't something home baked in the house, you can count on me to fill the gap.
I have the same issue. I am 5'3 and I weigh 124. I used to be thicker when I was younger about 143. I lost weight in 2006 when my grandmother died and it seems I cannot get the weight back no matter what I do. I just had a baby 6 months ago I gained 33 pounds and 6 days after I had my son I was back down to 124. If anyone has any solutions please let me know! Thanks
1. History with weight loss: I'm 15 years old, and I have always been a really tall, thin guy. I think my lowest BMI ever was 129 lbs. at 6'3". I'm sure a lot of people would love to be able to eat what ever they want and never gain any weight, but I can't stand it! Anyway, very recently I decided to begin eating 3,500 calories a day, along with weight-lifting, to put on some weight. I've already gained 12 lbs., and hopefully soon I'll be able to break 150 lbs. :D
2. History with Calorie Count: I don't remember how I found this site but it's been very useful for keeping track of the food I've eaten. I used to use a journal and this is much more convenient...
3. Reason for joining this group: To meet other guys/girls with the same issues as me. And maybe you guys can share some of your high calorie foods with me too :-o
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I'm an overly competitive person. I have a very active life. I think I definitely have a major inferiority complex about my weight.
hey im 15yrs old i hav always been super thin too! i eat alot but nevr gain a thing most ppl think thats great but its pretty frustrating to me.my experience with calorie count has been great they were the first site to actually tell mi how i can gain weight the healthy way by eating more healthy and more portions and stuff. im about 5'6 maybe 5'7 and i weigh 105 pounds ive been skinny forevr and all im asking is to be a few more pounds like 115 or 120 id really like 2 fill out my jeans like my freinds do so the only thing im kindof worried about is how do u get the weight to go whare you want it to?can you do that lik body sculpting thing?i guess you wuld hav to lik workout or sumthing i dont know but if u do please let me know!thanx!!
Hi there everyone! I'm 24 years old and I have always been very thin. So I've decided to do something about it; eat foods that are good for me, take vitamins, and work out. I just joined calorie count today and I find it very useful so far. I joined this group because I am interested in gaining weight and maybe I can find hope in that other poeple have the same problem I have. I currently go to school for nursing in Arizona and I will graduate in December of this year. My goals are to add ten to fifteen pounds of muscle. But I do realize that this takes time and a lot of effort on my part, until then I want to maintain weight and be in better shape.
