I understand you, mu body reacts that way as well. I have always been naturally thin. I'm also a dancer, so luckily I have some muscle tone but it's mostly in my arms and abs. when I look in the mirrior sometimes I can see my hip and chest bones, but I do eat! It gets frustrating that I'm 21 and people mistake me for being 16! I'm just now trying to start a diet. I think you have to increase calorie intake, eat 5-6 small meals a day, with snacks or supplement drinks in between and do weight training for 30 min a day. You should be able to gain one pound a week. Make sure you eat healthy foods though.

protein!

and amino acids!

and weight training...

i'm trying to gain weight- i'm average build, but have gained 24 lbs in the last year, and am trying to gain another 20 or so-

multiply your weight by 2, and that's the minimum grams of protein you should consume a day... multiply again by 2, and that's for serious gain.

try that and see how it goes-

and- weight training. you'll gain muscle... maybe that's not what you want? :) your metabolism will eventually slow... you'll hit menopause, and bloat out if you're nto carefull... put the muscle on, and when you hit your mid 20's you endocrine system will slow down a bit, and everything will fall into place...

cheers!

History with weight loss....well I have always been skinny. I can't even say slender. Because I was skinny. In middle school I was often asked if I was anorexic, but really I hit my growth spurt and no matter how much I ate I couldn't keep up. I am 6 feet and have been since 7th grade. Once I stopped growing, my body slowly evened out and I got up to 155ish pounds in college. As soon as I moved out of the dorms though and started working three jobs the weight started to vanish. A mix of no longer having ready made meals, increased activity, and of course stress. I was able to get back up to 150 before I left college.

I just finished my first year teaching in an entirely new community/culture. The stress of the year caused me to drop about 15 pounds in 7 months. My goal over summer break is to get my weight up and get into the habit of monitoring weight/activity/eating habits so that when the next school years starts in August I will be ready.

I just started with calorie counter. I am not sure how I feel about it yet. I haven't been enjoying the food now that I have to figure out how many calories are in each and everything I put in my mouth. I had to count calories one other time in high school after jaw surgery. I was miserable trying to make sure I had enough calories then and now that I have to get 3000 a day, I am wondering what the cost will be for me as I count and track this mess.

I suck at cooking and planning meals. I am hoping that some peeps in this group have some excellent and easy recipies that will help me reach that 3000/day goal. Because this chick can't keep doing five granola bars, three sandwhiches, a bowl of yougurt, two protein shakes, and a handful of other items to make it close to the goal.

I teach middle school science and am bored out of mind two weeks into summer break. I have rediscovered a love for sports (volleyball and basketball) but have a hard time making myself lift weights or work out. In the last three days I have finished 7 books and am halfway through number 8. Anything else you want to know, hit me up.

Hi! I'm not a guy but my brother was in exactly your situation once and he put on weight. Now he's at least 195. Anyway, basically what he did (and another tall lanky guy I worked with) is this: eat a solid healthy breakfast, work out with weights, then drink a protein shake. Eat a solid healthy lunch, then later on work out with weights, then have another shake. Have a good dinner, and then be sure to have a healthy high calorie snack in the evening. The shakes they used were just the kind with healthy protein in them, like EAS Premium Protein. Drinking Boost drinks helps too, and eating peanut butter and Cliff bars. From what I have noticed, even if someone is naturally very lean and lanky, if they eat good regular meals, supplement with shakes, and lift weights, they will put on weight. Best of luck!

My name is Amber.  I'm from St. Petersburg, Florida and I'm trying to gain weight.  My whole life, I've been skinny as a tooth pick, no matter what I ate.  Even after gaining 73 pounds during my pregnancy, I lost all that weight soon after having my daughter.  Everyone around me (mostly women) says, "Wow!  I wish I had your problem!"  They don't understand that I'm not healthy.  I don't get the nutrition I need and my doctor has instructed me to gain some healthy weight.  I'm 5'7 and I weight 115 pounds now, which is 10 pounds more than I weighed last year (all thanks to my newly acquired thyroid disorder).

I currently work at Sterling Research Group, Inc. as an Outbound Analyst.  Basically, I sit at a computer all day long.  I'm fairly new to Calorie Count.  I originally joined about 6 months ago (I think), but they didn't have a program for weight gainers yet.  Some other interesting things about me are that I'm almost 24 (I'll be 24 in July).  I'm married and my husband and I have a daughter who will be turning 2 (also in July).  I'm a huge Marvel Comics fan (you read right... I am a FEMALE fan of comic books) and I'm also a HUGE Harry Potter fan (maybe I'm just a geek!).  Other than that and the fact that I'm in school currently for my AA in Computer Sciences, there's not much else to know about me.

Hi all! I am forever underweight and feel tired of it. I am at the lowest I have ever been at 85 pounds and 5'4. I have had a history of eating way too many carbs (fat free) then on the other end of the spectrum too much protein and 0 carbs (except for veggies). Now, my body rejects so many foods and it is unpleasant to eat except for a handful of foods. Now I just live on a couple of protein bar brands, cottage cheese, egg whites, lo carb/gluten free tortillas, tuna, yogurt, cabbage, and tomatoes. Safe. I just started adding nuts and fats, slowly, but just not eating enough calories. I need accountability. I also love hearing what others are doing since I don't know what "normal" is.

Looking to learn and truly gain finally!

Hi Everyone! So it's summertime and I realy want to gain some weight!  I've always been underweight, I then started working out and gained about 20 lbs.  I lost weight again..I'm a little under 5'4" and about 114lbs.  I want to get to 120lbs.  I just joined Calorie COunt today because I want to maintain a healthy diet, not just eat bad fat to gain weight.

I just graduated from college and am trying to find a job.  I have a dog named Fabrizio, I'm 22, and I live wiht my parents.  I really want to learn to prepare healthy balanced meals for myself.

Thanks!

Hi,

I am 39 yrs. old, 5ft 6in. an weigh 114 pounds- I have given up on trying to gain weight, but I am on a mission to find a HEALTHY High calorie diet for my 14 yr. old son (VERY picky eater but eats alot of the stuff he does like) who is 6ft 4in. and weighs 140lbs. The milkshakes sound good! (the 640 calorie ones with the cookies, peanut butter and heavy cream--ect....) but my son wouldn't drink this, PLAIN VANILLA shakes for him! Anyway, does anyone have any suggestion for a high calorie diet that is healthy? (After all I don't want to clog his arterie by the time he is 16!)

Thanks for any help!

Here is a healthy shake it's about 600 calories.  It's a bit sweet so you can use the regular vanilla or plain soy milk.  Calories are approx.  you might need to add more soy milk cause it tends to come out thick.  I also add 1/2 cup of bran cereal, when available, to increase the calorie count. It taste good, I promise. Smile

1 cup Silk, Very Vanilla, Soy Milk (130 Calories)

2 bananas (210 Calories)

2 Tbs Peanut butter (189 Calories)

1/2 apple (30 Calories)

1 Scoop Spirutein protein powder (vanilla) (95 Calories)

Total 654 Calories and 18g+ protein

1. History with weight loss: I'm 5'1" and currently 100 lbs. Before I became a vegan in 2001 I was 120 lbs. Shortly after becoming a vegan I dropped to 88 lbs. Was pregnant in 2008 at a woping 131 lbs then went to 100 in 3 months after.  My goal weight is at least 115. So am currently in battle against my high metabolism and I am desperate to win. I will win. I've already won!!!!Yell

2. History with Calorie Count: When at 88 lbs I must of speant hours in the supermarket looking for the highest calorie vegan foods.  Bananas became my friend along with spirutein and peanut butter.  I counted everything down to a slice of tomato.  Then I got tired of counting and just ate.

3. Reason for joining this group: Looking for the mother of all vegan, taste good, shake (1,000 calories) if it exist.Cry

4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I've always had an interest in health and helping others.  So when my son was born I decided to open my own online store offering health seminars and health products at www.brothersgoodsandservice.com.  It's still in it's development stages but I'm determined to work from home. Smile

1. History with weight loss: I've always been slightly underweight. Around the end of 2007 i met a person over the internet, He was a very bad person and i didn't like him. I got ill from talking to him, i couldn't eat alot and when i tried to eat i would gag or throw up. after a while i got better by drinking strong ice coffee, now i am still underweight but i am eating better now but still having a bit of trouble with weight gain.

2. History with Calorie Count: I am only recently in the past few months counting some of my calories. I don't count every bit of food but i look on the back of packets and stuff for the calorie amount.

3. Reason for joining this group: i am hoping to get some good tips on gaining weight, i want to gain 3kg by my birthday (august 6th) and i wish to keep that weight instead of losing it. (i currently weigh approx. 44kg)

4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I am almost 15. A female and in a wonderful relationship, sadly over the internet so far (my bf helped me become well again). I am currently in the 10th grade, living in Australia. I live with my brother and mum, my dad doesn't live with us coz he's married to someone else...
I enjoy art, some sports (not very sporty though), going on the computer and being around the people i care most about.

Hello!

My name is Kelli and I'm from Texas. I'm trying to gain wait & have been for years. I've always known I'm under weight but now I'm actually trying to do something about it. I had a visit to see my doctor and found out the reason I've not been able to get pregnant is because I'm too much under weight. He wants me to try and put on 10-15 lbs. in about 3 months.

He did some blood work to make sure my thyroid is functioning properly, but I haven't yet heard the results on the work up. I am really watching my calories and carbs to make sure I get as much healthy foods as possible & am trying to get my diet to at least 2300 a day. I currently weigh about 105-109....it usually jumps around. I'm also trying to work out more, such as crunches, jogging, and etc. I have a Wii Fit and I use that. How much working out is to much? What are some healthy things I could add to my diet that would be beneficial to my weight gain? I really need some helpful tips if anyone has some.

A little bit of background info on me: I turn 26 in Sept., I love animals, I have 5 dogs and one cat. I am a stay at home wife right now. I just graduated in May with my Bachelors & Teaching certification & am currently looking for a job. If you have any helpful tips or comments please send them my way!!!! Anyone looking for a weight gain buddy? I'm thinking if you have a set goal w/someone else that might help for encouragement sake. Thanks!

Hey! I'm 20 and I have been skinny my whole life. I am only 5'1 and weigh 93 lbs. I'm so little! People actually think I'm 14. Even when I eat tons of food I can't seem to gain weight, and when I do it goes straight to my stomach. Right now I'm trying to tone my entire body- especially my abs and my arms, while at the same time gain healthy weight and muscle. I'm really active and my metabolism is high so I think that's my biggest issue. I'm training to be a jockey and I need to gain muscle for that, but also that I'm not happy with my appearance. I want to bulk up a little.

I have never been over 97 lbs- I tried really hard last summer to gain weight and that was my max, but then I kindof stopped trying and went back down to 93. I want to be over 100 lbs... So hopefully this summer I can do it!

I am 19,I'll be 20 this September. I am 5"1 too and I weigh just 77 lbs and I have been around the same for many years. You see, there are poeple smaller than you are :) I want to be atleast 88 lbs.

I am extremely petite just like you are,but recently I have grown thinner as my friends say.Once I was able to increase my weight by 2.5 kgs in just one month, after that it was back to where it used to be.

Will running as an excercise help me? I used to do only warm up excercises earlier, but I have stopped even doing that since a long time.

Being thin is heriditary in my family, but please help me gain weight atleast a little!

Ok, so I am here for the same reason it seems all of you are. I have always been really little. I have never had an eating disorder really but haven't had the healthiest of eating habits.

You know how some people eat when they're stressed out...? Ya, well I have the opposite problem. And I get stressed out A LOT! I think it is about time to start a plan, actually watch what I am eating, and put on some healthy pounds that will stay!

Smile

Hey yall! The reason I've joined is because I'm so sick of being skinny! I hate walking by people when I'm out and them whispering "omg look how skinny she is". it drives me crazy...that's just as bad as an overweight person being called fat. I'm 5'6" and 95lbs. I've ALWAYS been skinny ever since I was little. I was around 110 when I graduated high school but somehow over the years I keep losing more and more weight. Maybe I'm just stressed from always being on the go...i don't know! But i've joined this site because i HAVE to get back on track. I'm going to start monitoring my weight and start eating healthier, and eat more. I have a problem of not eating breakfast and skipping lunch because I've always got errands to run on my lunch breaks, and fast food for dinner. I know that's not good at all and that's probably the main reason for my weight loss...i'm barely getting any calories and definitely not enough nutrition! So anyway, wish me luck and if you have any tips let me know please!!

Meggie....we sound very much in the same boat.

I at about the same weight (if not 10-15 pounds lighter) than what I was when I graduated high school.  Like you, I rarely eat a breakfast and will sometimes eat a light lunch.  Then I eat quite a bit more in the evening.

I've never really tracked my 'diet', so the calorie count tool has been rather eye opening.  I've set a calorie intake goal and have been slowly working the quality of my food up.

I wish you the absolute best of luck!  I know how hard it is for us FAT-FREE folk (not skinny, we're fat free) to put on the pounds.  =)

Hi ! I got a call from my friend in the morning,he asked me to wake up. A doctor told him that if we wake up early in the morning,we have more meals. So we eat more and we can then gain weight.

I asked him to excuse me for this one day :D I am going to start waking up early from tomorrow!!!

Yay!

1. History with weight loss: I am 16 years old, 5'10" and my natural weight is around 130-135 lbs. I play basketball and work out, so i was always pretty active.  In February when basketball season was over, i became pretty obsessed with working out every day and really watching what i ate. It got to the point where i was restricting a LOT of foods and what i ate. I started losing weight and was so happy until my mom wouldn't let me work out anymore cause i wasn't eating enough. When i stopped working out I lost about 15 lbs. in about 3 or 4 weeks. I haven't had a period since march, and my eating disorder did NOT want me gain weight or get better at all. When i went in for a weigh in at the beginning of July, i was around 116 lbs. The doctor said if I lost 1 more pound, she was checking me into the hospital. I was scared, and started trying to get it together. It was the hardest thing i've ever had to do. I am on antidepressants and anti-anxiety medicine, and have been seeing a counselor. I have really been trying to gain weight and eat healthy. As of 2 weeks ago, i was about 123 lbs. Seven more pounds to go!!

2. History with Calorie Count: my mom printed me off a list of foods from one of these forums of healthy foods to gain weight and i wanted to check it out.

3. Reason for joining this group: to gain weight, be healthy, and be able to exercise again!!

4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests:
I love to read, shop, and play sports. I have 2 siblings.
