Hi Wildchild.  I am Carol.  Like you I am doing P90X with my husband.  Just started it on Monday.  I am about 50 pounds overweight and over 50 years old, so I don't have any expectations of looking beach ready after 90 days either but I do expect to look better and be stronger.

Anyway, I have been a CC member for over a year now.  I am down 27 pounds from my high of 205.  I hope we can encourage each other and finish this program with good results.

Hi Carol Smile

Thank you for posting on my new group!  And welcome!  You are my first, and hopefully not the last Laughing.  I hope to get a huge following to this.  So many people on this site are talking about it, and one of my buddies that I met on here raved about P90X and I was like...What kind of machine is that?  Had never heard of it...lol.  Anyway...happened to see an infomercial while flipping thru the channels, and started watching, and it just made so much sense.  So I called the hubby in here, and he was intrigued.  He has watched the infomercial everytime it comes on...I'm like SERIOUSLY dude...lol...we've seen it...and we decided it was a must have, so now patiently, fearfully, yet excitedly awaiting its arrival.  Know its gonna kick my behind in the beginning...lol.  After all...I'm not a small gal.   My hubby only needs to lose about 26 lbs, whereas I need to go down 117 at the minimum-135 at the max.

But the one thing I noticed while watching it, (I am a HUGE The Biggest Loser fan...) and as I'm watching it I'm like...I've seen them do that one on the ranch...and that one...and that one...A LOT of them....yeah it's gonna be murder at first, but I'm sure it was murder for the peeps on the ranch, and they are doing these types of exercises at 300 & 400 lbs...so KNOW I can do it too.  Just takes time to build the stamina and resistance, and seriously...I have two pcs of exercise equipment.  A recumbent bike, and an Eliptical...and they are spendy...and I'm SOOO bored with them.  Still do them, but it's like, I'm losing my thighs, and losing my behind...but the waist and arms, and everything else are flabby and weak.  So this works out everything, and it's something different then just the bike and eliptical.  So what have I got to lose?  Cept unwanted flab...hehehe.  And I definately need all the support and motivation I can get!  LOL.

So once again, Welcome!

Cindy

Hi girls!  My name is Megan and I just finished phase 1 of P90X.  This is actually my second time doing the program.  I did the lean version last year and saw pretty good results (I have to admit, I didn't follow it exactly though).  It definitely made me stronger, and I really enjoyed the variety of the program.  It wasn't boring at all.  This time around I am doing the classic and contemplating starting doubles tomorrow (I know, it may be suicidal!).  This time around I am noticing a huge difference in my strength and flexibility from day 1.  I was already in pretty good shape (or so I thought), but P90X certainly makes you realize that I was not in as good of shape as I had thought!

I have a bit of a flabby belly still that just will not go away.  I am determined to get it off, and I am hoping that P90X will make that happen!!!

Good luck with week 1.  It is the hardest.  I couldn't even sit up for a few days and had to roll out of bed since my abs were so sore!!

Hi Megan!

Welcome to the group and I am soooooo sorry about taking so long to respond.  How horrible.  I start a group and get sidetracked for a few days.  Shame on me.

Well...mine has just showed up today, so hoping to start it tomorrow.  Want to go thru it all and review and see what I need for the nutrition plan etc.  I have been SUPER excited for it's arrival, but yet at the same time SCARED for exactly what you said...being so sore that you don't want to move.  But...hey...no pain...no gain...as the saying goes...hehehe...but if I want to change my body...it's got to be!  I will only get stronger!

So congrats on finishing your first week!  I will be reliving it for ya here this coming week...lol.   I will be the one crawling out of bed going...seriously?  Why do I hate myself so much...oh yeah...the fat...the exercise will just help me hopefully to get rid of that along with everything else...lol.  NO PAIN NO GAIN!  That will be my mantra...as I groan and grumble and limp and hunch...hehehe.

So again!  WELCOME!  And CONGRATS!  Hope to hear from ya again soon!  Keep us newbies posted on what we are in for in the coming weeks...hehehe.

God Bless!

Cindy

Did you do your "before" measurements and pictures wildchild?  They will be important for tracking progress.  Maybe we could start a thread here tracking progress.  Not pictures though...  NO ONE is going to see those pictures  Tongue out

Hi there! I'm Pamela and I started P90X on March 1st. I started the program mostly because I really need some serious strenght training, especially in my core and I wanted to lose about 20 lbs by July. I'm already pretty active, but I'm training for my first half ironman triathlon July 5th and the strength and losing 20 lbs would make a huge difference in my ability to finish. I guess theoretically I'm doing doubles since I'm biking 3x a week, running 3x a week and swimming 2 or 3x a week on top of the P90X (I skip the cardio DVD and have only done the yoga a couple times) It's hugely time consuming to do both. I just tried the Kenpo last night and couldn't do it - partially because I had already worked out an hour and was bored, but I really felt I wasn't coordinated enough - punching and fighting is not a natural movement for me. I showed my boyfriend and he said I had my arms going the wrong way - lol.

Off to do yoga this morning Laughing

Hi Guys!

Carol...just started it yesterday...wow am I out of shape, but I thought I would have more trouble with the chest and back stuff, but I actually did pretty well on that.  Thought I would do better on the abs stuff as I have been doing Jillian Michaels ab thing on her 20 minute shred and did relatively well in that, but oh my...failed miserably on what I thought I'd be ok on, and did better on what I thought I wouldn't.  Go figure...LOL.

I havent' taken measurements, but did the pics...and I'm with you...I don't even want to look at those pictures...lol...ewwww.   The only measurements I knew for sure was my waist and hips...lol.  And I guess bust...er sort of.   Well...maybe one day when I'm confident with my new body I might share those pics with the caption, "DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU!  It's NOT WORTH IT!"  LOL

We do our workouts at night...seems to be the only time we can get them in.  Tonight...day two...Plyometrics...I haven't even previewed the DVD to see what it's all about...after last night...rather NOT know what's coming at me...LOL.  Gonna start that in a bit.

On to Pamela!  Hi and WELCOME!   Sorry I haven't been on here much, spring fever and all...lol.  Haven't sat at the puter much...how horrible am I...or...not?  Maybe it's a good thing...lol.

I'm actually excited to try the Kenpo DVD when it's time.  I have done Billy Blanks Tae Bo, and I'm with you...my arms always flail the wrong way...BUT!  I LOVE it.  I think it's so fun, so I think I am really gonna enjoy Kenpo...I hope?  LOL  There's gotta be ONE that just does it for me...lol.  Something to look forward to maybe?  Oh boy...lol.  <Sigh>  I'll get there...lol...slowly maybe...As Julie on one of the past The Biggest loser epis said...I may be the last little turtle across the line, but I'm gonna look GOOOOOD in my shell...hehehe.  Ok...so I will REALLY be the last little turtle across that line...but the bennies will be worth it Tongue out

Ok...so any newbies that come in...and hopefully join, although it seems I am being the worlds WORST group host...lol.  Give me time to respond and welcome ya.  I promise it might take me a day or two, but I will definately be responding!

So this is what I can tell ya after day one...ABS HURT!  LOL.  Not as bad as they did when I did Jillian Michaels, but I think by the time I got to the abs I was pooped from all the pushups and resistance band part of the pull ups, (so I didn't really do alot of it, just what I could)...cuz lets face it...264 lbs just starting to exercise...ain't happening on the pullups...LOL.  Resistance band works okey dokey for me right now!  LOL  Baby steps.  It will prolly take me a few times thru the 90 day proggy to get where I want to be and be able to do ALL of it.  But with each time thru I will get stronger...or die trying...prolly the latter...lol.

Did you get the recovery drink for after Carol?  I decided to get it cuz it came with three resistance bands and the p90x plus for after the 90 day shred.  Figured why not.  I was kind of leary of it, as it is orange flavored, and me and artificially tasting and smelling orange has a really weird affect on me.  I will get nauseated and feel really ill.  But...I figured I would take a sip of the hubby's that I mixed up for him.  Honestly?  Not really bad tasting...but...then there is me over here with weird aversions...One sip...stomach started rolling and I instantly wanted to be sick...so...guess that's out for me...Hubby loves it tho...lol.

Ok...really hate to cut this short...but...it's workout time...<grumble grumble groan>.  Hehehe...ok...not that bad...but remember...fatty over here...trying to do fit peoples workouts...GOOD LORD!  What the heck was I thinkin!  Hehehe...ok...it's for the greater good and all that...but...oh my...me be tuffin.

Ok!  Later my leige...lol

Hello I'm Mary I just order P90X this morning and will hopefully get started soon on this I'm really excited about it.

1. History with weight loss: I've been gaining and loosing my whole life so Im a yo-yoer.

2.Started with Calorie count mid june and love it, so far im down 7 lb would probably be more but I went on a two week vaca, and was good for the most part but did cheat a bit and worked out a little less.

3. Seemed like a good group to join concidering I'll be starting the p90x soon.

4. I work full time and have two kids 1 1/2 and 4 1/2 usually at the gym 5 days a week not all that interesting but thats me right now not a lot of time for much else.

hi everyone... i'm now on day 5 of the program, and I absolutely love it. I know that I will be committed to doing this for at least the 90 days. on top of the routines I'm also doing a lil extra cardio.

However... did people experience weight gain possibly muscle before loosing?..  i'm not sure. i'm monitoring my body fat weekly. but so far i'm up two lbs in the past 5 days. and i thought that i'd be loosing my now.

I do know that i've lost inches in my measurements, but i wanted to kknow what has happened with others.

thanks

Hey

I was 255 pounds in June of 2008 and decided to do something about it. I lost 55 pounds in the space of about 6 months and have managed to keep it off! A huge part of my success with weight loss was Calorie Count and actually committing to eating properly.

My spouse and I are just about done Phase 2 of P90X and WE LOVE IT!!!! Yes, the first week was the hardest - seriously, I've been working out for years and I couldn't walk properly after the end of the first week. I ran a 1/2 marathon at the end of May this year, but it sure didn't feel like I was fit before P90X. That said, what I love about the program is that it can benefit anyone and the results you see are the direct result of your own effort.

I saw results in the space of 3 weeks and I can't wait for what's in store at the end.
