Welcome to the Group
Welcome! We would love get to know you, so please tell us a little bit
about
yourself. You can choose any format you'd like, but most of us here
share some
or all of the following details:
1. History with weight loss:
2. History with Calorie Count and P90X:
3. Reason for joining this group:
4. Some interesting details about yourself,
such as
your job, your family, your pets and your interests:
And now just go ahead and make that first post!
Hey guys!
You all can just call me Amy! Sorry it took so long to create this group but we're here now right?
So most of you know I started P90X last Monday. But I've been using Calorie Count (this website) for over a year now. But I got pregnant last June and went on sabatical until my baby was born. She's now two months old and it's time for me to get busy again! I wanted to start P90X because the results were fast even if it did mean working way harder in that time. I'm not scared of hard work, but I am an instant-gratification kind of person - much like many people. I want results and I don't want to wait a long time for them!
Otherwise about me? I'm a 35 yo stay-at-home-mom to two beautiful girls, a nearly 5 year old and then of course my 2-mo old. I've been married 9 years and live in Utah. I have a master's degree in occupational therapy and if I do work, do so around my husband's schedule. I love to read, watch movies, garden, hang with friends, play on my computer and do things with my hands. Most of my activities are sedentary but in the past 5 years, I've learned the value of exercise in my life and have since, participated in many running races, as well as a mini-triathlon. I was even signed up for another one when I got pregnant and I couldn't go through with it much to my disappointment. But, the baby was more important!
My goals for this program will be to at least lose the weight I gained with my pregnancy. So far I've lost 4 lbs. and 20 to go. Daunting, yes - doable, absolutely. What would even be better would be if I could lose the other 20 lbs I never lost from my first pregnancy. That would be a total of 40 more lbs. But I'll start with the 20 and see how it goes!
That's enough about me! Tell us all about you and what your goals are!
Hey! thanks for the add...
I was on vacation traveling home when i made a stop at a gas
station...I thought it was funny that they had a fortune teller scale
in the restroom oh i was so surprise when i step on the scale and saw
150 lbs...i couldnt believe my eyes..so after that i went on a diet
(never been on one before) listen to everything anyone said worked for
them. I lost 8lbs last year and stop. So now i am here and doing what
I think will work for me. Ive only been with CC for about month or
so...I join the group because i wanted to have a buddy that is as new to
P90x as I am. To be in an active Group that supports and motivate each other!!!!
I'm happily married 40 yr young sahm with no small children but 3 grown sons..my youngest son goes off to college in July. So now is a great time for me to focus on me. Two sons in airforce one tryin to find himself and youngest still in high school.

Hi Amy,
Thanks for getting this organized, I think there will be a great turn out.
I am 47 and have steadily gained weight since I got married.
I joined Calorie Count a couple years ago but never really stayed with it. Each time I would revisit, my weight was more.
I then quit smoking and gained even more weight! ![]()
Finally, I realized enough is enough. At 258 lbs I decided to do something but wasn't sure what. Then a co-worker approached me asking if I wanted to joing the P90x workout group after work. I agreed.
The first day I realized how out of shape I really was, I was pathetic. We all were, a bunch of sweaty overweight people rolling around on the floor. LOL
But things changed and they happened fast, my first week I lost 8 lbs, probably a lot of water weight, then it plateau'd on my second week then started falling off from then off day by day. I have lost 15 lbs so far. Yesterday as I was putting the dumbells away I had to laugh realizing that I was working out with the same amount of weight I lost!
I am now completing my 4th week so we will be doing day 30 photos tonight.
I use the recovery drink and do maintain a low fat diet.
I have a long way to go, my long term target weight is 170 lbs so I will be around for a while.
:-)
Thanks for adding me Amy! This is exactly what I needed today ... I'm having a bad week! I started P90X March 1 along with an 18 week half ironman training program. I hurt my back doing plyo day 2 so my first few weeks weren't as intense as I would have liked (no abs
) so I skipped the first recovery week.
I'm doing P90X for 2 reasons, first I need the strength training, specifically targeted on core. Second, I'd like to lose about 20 lbs before my race in July.
Last week was my first actual recovery week and I lost 4 lbs. Now I've gained back 2 of them. Easter seems to have thrown off my eating and when I eat junk I feel like junk!
My biggest challenge is finding the time to do all my workouts since I also have 3 bikes, 3 runs and 2 or 3 swims each week to add to the P90X. I love John's idea of having a P90X workout group! I'm going to have to get my creative mind working on how I can make that happen - I sometimes get very bored during the workouts because everything is by myself.

Hi, I am Carol, a 55 year old woman who is about 40 pounds overweight. I started P90X with my husband who is even more overweight and out-fo-shape than I am. So far we are in week 2. I find the exercises hard, some of the workouts we can't finish completely, but we keep trying.
My biggest problem is with the diet. I don't have time during the day to follow the meal plan exactly. I started out planning on following a 1500 calorie a day diet with the fat/protein/carb percentages that were recommended in the program. By the end of the week, I was feeling weak and dizzy. So I am now a little less strict on the carbs and shooting for 1600 a day. The first week I lost 2 pounds. This week I gained 3 ![]()

I find the only way I can eat properly is to prepare 3 or 4 mini meals the night before so they are ready to go - today is snapper with veggies - yum!
Hi i am new to this weight loss thing. I am 5'3 and weigh 150. I am very small framed. I have always been one of those girls everyone loves to hate. Eating anything i want and never gaining a pound. I have never weighed over 100 pounds unless i was pregnant. And i lost it really quick. I went through a bad divorce and had to get on anti depressants. I don't know exactly what happened. In over a course of 3 months i started noticing my pants where getting tight. No worrys I thought i could gain a pound or two. Next thing i knew i went from a size 2 to barely fitting into a 10. I am so devastated. I have no energy. I want to hide from all my friends.
I have been counting calories but i don't really understand how to break it up so i eat between 1200-1800 daily and when i reach that point i am through eating. I have quit drinking Dr Peppers. I have only drank water now for 3 weeks.
I would like to weigh about 115.
I started P90X Lean on the 4/15. Two days in and very very sore. I am hoping this will help me loose weight quickly.
Hi Amy!! Thanks for the add. ![]()
My name is Jessica.
The heaviest I've been is 225 pounds, I am currently at 140. I lost the weight with dieting and exercise, I learned how to eat better and move more. I love to run now, I'm usually up and running by 6am and I like to do at least 3 miles but I'm working up to 5 a day.
I love CC. I've been using this site for awhile. I like giving advice and accepting it, I think it's awesome to have a place I can come and talk to like minded people because not very many other people in my life are so dedicated to their health.
I'm finishing up my third week of P90X. It is so awesome. I'm already seeing a difference in my body. I have little abs popping out!! Woo Hoo! I'm following the nutrition plan to a T. I haven't had chocolate in almost 3 weeks! I want maximum results. My boyfriend is also doing the program with me.
So My stats are: I'm 5'4"
SW 146
CW: Not sure I'll weigh in again before phase two
GW: 120's
Ultimate Goal: To have a nicely toned body, I'm talking bikini ready.
Hi all,
I joined CC about a month ago because I realized having support makes a difference and it definitely has. In one month I've lost about 11 lbs with exercise and tracking what I eat here. I'm 5'2" and have a small frame so any sort of weight gain looks like a lot. I started at 140 lbs and now I'm 129 lbs. My goal weight is 123ish. Most importantly I want to really tone and shape my body because my 30th birthday is in August and I owe it to myself to look better at 30 than I did in my 20's.
I'm currently an account manager by day but I love drama/music theatre, writing, going out to eat and hanging out with my friends and family.
I look forward to starting p90x hopefully this weekend or coming week.
Hi Amy,
Thanks for creating the group!
I am 33 years old and have always been a little heavy. Over the last 5-8 years I've seen my weight steadily go up. Last summer I was just over 240 pounds and decided to do something about it. I lost 25 pounds with a lot of hard work (doing projects around the house) and lowering my calories. Once the work was done and winter hit I did what a lot of people do, I sat around the house... Two weeks ago, I was back up to 235.
Pretty much the only good that came from sitting around was watching the X infomercial about 20 times. Right away I realized this was a pretty intense program. Over time I became obsessed with the program and began researching it onlinebut didn't want to fork out the money. I eventually found someone selling just the DVD series w/out the nutrition guide, calendar, or activity sheets for a substantially less and I bought it. I was able to find the calendar and activity sheets online however have not been able to find the full detail on the nutrition guide (if anyone knows where to find this, please let me know!).
Last week was week one. I feel like I've been kicked around pretty badly but I hung in there and did as much as possible and pushed myself more than I have with anything else out there... Today I weighed in at 229! I know there is still a long way to go to get to my goal weight of 180-195 (I'm okay w/ 195 if I am rock solid) but I also still have another 11 weeks to go!
I joined this group for support and to hear the stories, struggles, and suggestions others having while going through the program.
As motivation to keep going, I want to be ready for the lake this summer (I've got an uncle who lover to drag me around on a tube all day ~ if you've never gone tubing, the day after is just a little more painful than the first time you do the Abs X DVD
). I also have a guy on my softball team who thinks he's big stuff because he hits home runs every once in a while... I would love to shut him up a bit.
I am happily married with a one year old little girl.
Again, Thanks for creating this group! Bring it!

Sybil - lol, well it doesn't sound like you lack ambition nor motivation! keep up the awesome work! I hope to be in triathlete shape after P90X too in time for summer race season. I want to do a couple running races and maybe even 1 or 2 triathlons late summer. let us know how it's going!
Thanks to droppinlbs for recomending this group. I just finished week 2 of P90X and have lost 4 pounds so far. I'm finding it easier all ready to do the dvd's. I have always been pretty active. I started lifting weights when I was 15 and never stopped, I'm now 32. However, 3 kids later, finding the time to spend in a gym is getting difficult. My kids are 9, 5 and 2 months. Amy, when was your youngest born, mine was Feb 13th.
I saw the info-mercial for P90X while working night shift before I went on mat leave. My goal is to get to 125 but prior efforts usually stall at around 132. I am currently 151, down 17 pounds from after I gave birth. I have been using calorie count for about 1.5 years but not so much when I was pregnant. Apparently I should have as I gained a wee bit too much weight and need to lose it all before August when I'm getting married.
I live in Northern Brithish Columbia and can't wait until the trails open up for running. They are still closed due to snow and those darn pesty bears waking up. I have done 2 triathlons in the past 3 years and absolutely loved them even though I came in last and second to last. I am a horrible swimmer and scared of open water (too many Jaws movies). I love running and hopping on my racing bike and flying down and highway as fast as I can.
I'm following and strict 50/30/20 diet and am starting to feel like a carnivoire. But the sugar cravings are diminishing:) I'm so glad this group was started. It's nice to have poeple to go through this with, my boyfriend's version of excercise is playing PG09 on the Wii.![]()
Okay, so here I am finally! I joined the group a while ago, but have just gotten too distracted each time I got on here to post. Anyway, here goes:
My name is Ellen and I started P90X 2 weeks ago. I've lost about 5 pounds and I've been pretty consistent with the workouts. I have about 55 pounds to lose so this should be interesting. I've had a hard time with the diet, switching between the protein diet, and Weight Watchers (done that before so I'm comfortable with it). But recently I've been convinced to try harder at the X diet, working with CC so I can pull it all together. It's HARD, but I'm gonna try for the next 2 weeks and see how it goes.
Anyway, about me: I'm a 31 year old stay-at-home-mom. I have 3 beatufiul children, all 3 or under. I also have a fabulous husband whom I hope so inspire with my own weight loss. I'm doing this P90X thing with my sister, so there's good incentive for me. She keeps me on my toes.
So, P90X is awesome, as far as I'm concerned. I love feeling stronger every day, and I love seeing the progress from one week to another. Kenpo is probably my favorite workout, but they all kick my butt, so ask me in a month or two how I'm doing.
Well, I guess that's it for now. Glad to be in the group. BRING IT! (*cheesy grin and "X" arm sign*)

Hey! I just read your welcome post! My daughter was born February 18th so they're only 5 days apart! Awesome!
I too gained way too much weight while pregnant but hysterically enough, I've already lost 40 lbs of it which should give you an idea of how much I actually gained. That was ALL water and it came off within about 3 weeks! Now i've got the other twenty to go and I have a feeling it's going to be very slow.
I like the diet portion of this program because like you, the sugar cravings are way down! When I drink a ton of water then even the salty cravings go away too but it's been really REALLY hard for me to give up diet soda. And although diet soda is giving me the one "treat" i feel I need, it's also keeping some of my cravings around a little. if I could just kick that I'd probably be in way better shape but then I'd feel like I wasn't having ANYTHING good.
I think i was talking to you in another post about triathlons. I'm excited for your wedding!
Amy: I'm not a big soda person but I do like crystal light. I have it in the evenings when I'm more prone to craving sugars. Its probably not much better than diet pop but it does the trick. Do you find it hard to get enough calories. I'm eating all day and forcing myself sometimes and still only get around 1200/day. Maybe thats why I'm not losing that much weight. I'm thinking of maybe going into the second phase of the diet with 40/40/20 split. What phase are you doing?
I'm starting to get into panic mode about not fitting into my weddinng dress!
I'm doing a 50/30/20 ratio and it is really hard to get that much food for the calories. Because I'm still nursing I added about 300 calories on top of the 1500 CC told me to eat. There's NO WAY I can eat 1700 calories and stick to this ratio although I did for the first three days and that's when my first weight loss happened. But I felt like I was always eating, sometimes to the point of being sick...and then I'd have to eat some more. And with that kind of eating, it's not yummy eating - it's things like fish and chicken breasts just to get the protein up! I have 1 1/2 weeks left of this high percentage and then I'll be doing that 40/40/20 split like you too...at least I think so. My sister's in charge of telling me what we're doing next, lol. She read it all much more thorough than I did.
I can imagine being stressed about your gown. That would be awful! Did you already buy it? All you can do is your best, and I think with the combination of this diet and exercise program...your really are doing your best. It's hard enough having a new baby, let alone all else that you're trying to do to get ready for a wedding. You poor girl...my life is probably boring compared to what you're up against! Good luck!

Emilyln is my sister!!! Yay Ellen - Bring it Sister!
That's cute. My sister and I will be starting p90X together starting May 1st. It's always nice to have support from someone close to you. I should tell her about this group.
Thanks Droppinlbs for adding me to the group!
Did you find that your breast milk changed with the low carb diet? Mine isn't doing so well, I don't have enough. I'm not sure if thats from the ratio or from not taking in enough calories. I've been giving baby formula and now I'm worried I won't get my milk back. Just to add to the stress, but its nothing I can't handle. I have a public health nurse helping me and I'm supposed to nurse or pump all day to build my supply back up. Maybe that's why my weight loss stopped, it's not going to milk.
