And now just go ahead and make that first post!
I am a 35 yr old SAHM of two beautiful boys one 6 the other 7 months. I have been on a roller coaster ride with my weight as long as I can remember. I just joined CC the 4th of August, so I am very new. But loving it already. The reason I've joined CC is I absolutely love food and couldn't control my portion sizes. I told myself I will not go up another pant size. I have a wonderful supportive husband, I love to read, walk, play with my kids. Im currently trying to teach myself to sew. Thats me in a nut shell. (See always thinking food)
Hi! I'm Suzan! I have been a CC member for about a year and a half now. I reached my goal about a year ago and have since been focusing on maintaining. But I have not used CC much over the past few months and I have realized how much of a difference not counting my calories can make in a short amount of time... so I'm back and I would love to find some great new recipes and also share a few of my favorites.
Hello, my name is Melissa. I just joined CC today because I need serious help losing weight. I had lower back surgery in November and since then I have ballooned up to 174 pounds. I have lost 4 pounds by trying to eat right. In my younger years I had a big problem with anorexia, so I don't want to fall into that again. I need advice on how to lose weight the healthy way. I also need ways to excercise without hurting my back. Right now I am walking, but at times even that hurts me. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Hello, my name is Janelle! I'm 24 and have been a member of CC since February of this year (08.) So far I've lost 25 lbs and I would like to lose 8 more. The first 20 or so pounds were fairly easy because I was losing so fast that it helped to motivate me! I was SO careful about what I ate. Now the weight loss has slowed down and I'm finding myself "maintaining" rather than trying real hard to keep losing! It's just so nice to eat "non-diet food"!
My goal weight is 140 and I've been sitting at 148 for a couple of months! I'm ready to get back into it 100%, but not ready to give up yummy foods, so I need some exciting, creative recipes!
My name is Kathy, but here in Japan people have a hard time pronouncing 'th,' so it comes out as kya-she-ee. I have been gaining weight over the last twenty years. I think it started when my work changed from being on my feet and teaching to a desk job in city hall. I gained 20 lbs over three years at that job, and I have never successfully gotten my weight down since that time. I now have an English school, and at age 57, I am looking down the road to retirement in a few years.
I have tried all kinds of diets, and I had the most success with the Zone diet. When I was in my early twenties, I starved myself into an anorexic state and ended up in the hospital and nearly died. I never want to do that again - it is so painful, the pain lasts a long time, and recovery took me more the two years. So, I avoid strange diets even though the easiest "diet" is just to stop eating.
I signed up with CC+ on June 23, 2008. I have only weighed myself once and showed a loss of about 5 lbs. My goal weight is about 103 lbs (I'm 5 ft tall.) or under. By Japanese standards, that would still be about 10 lbs over my ideal weight. I am muscular in build, so 98 to 103 lbs will be ideal for me I think.
I joined this group because I need all the motivation I can get. Since I am short, my losing weight caloric needs are 1,050 cals. I have learned from CC+ information that I shouldn't go under 1,200 cals a day, so that's what I do most of the time. My burn rate is 1640 without exercise, so that means my weight loss to reach my goal would take about two years without exercise. It's too slow to keep myself motivated, so I have been exercising more.
I have a lot of hobbies/interests. Right now, I am doing the "couch potato to 5K race" training program. I am able to jog for 8 minutes at a time, but I can't sustain that pace yet.
I am a certified guide on the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage route which is a World Heritage site. Over the last 4 years, I have naturally lost about 20 lbs from walking and hiking. That has inspired me to get serious about losing weight. I like cooking, reading, traveling, computers and the list goes on... I'm a curious sort.
Hi I'm asta. I'm 33 years old. i have 15 month old girl. I was always over weight as i can remember. And after i had my girl I decided to do EVERYTHING to lose weight and be a good example for her and finally feel good about myself. I joined CC about 10 month ago. since then i lost 24lb. I'm half way through. but it was a VERY HARD journey for me. but i hope with CC i will achieve my goal. I just have to. no matter what. Hi, I'm Jen. I am 23 years old and recently moved to New York City from St. Louis, MO. I'm not sure my eating habits changed terribly much or if it was the stress from the move, but I put on about 8 lbs when I was already a little heavier than I would like to be. (BMI just barely in the healthy range). I have always been a healthy eater, but I had become more relaxed about calories and fat as of late and need to get back to my healthy eating with a diet-jumpstart. I just joined calorie count a few weeks ago but have really only been strictly counting for the past 2 weeks. I am hoping to lose 13 lbs so I can get back to being happy and comfortable with myself instead of always feeling like the chubby-ish friend. My family, friends, and boyfriend are all in St. Louis so I am really on my own, hoping for a little support in my weight loss journey. I cook all the time (love it!) and can't wait to share recipes with everyone!
Hi, I,m Joan. I live in South Africa, I am 24. I have just had a little baby boy on the 31 May 2008. My first, and it wonderful. I managed to pick up 34kg through my pregnancy, i have lost 15kg but need to lose 10kg. My hubby is a bodybulider, so the pressure to look good is quite a bit. I have always watched what I eat, its so important, but I seem to be standing still at the moment. Cant wait to see all the different recipes
Hi, my name is Stephanie and I live in a very small town in Southern Illinois. I have been married for 11 years and I have 3 beautiful children ages 15, 10 and 8 years old. My husband and I made a decision after we married that I would become a homemaker. I have been up and down with my weight my entire life, and now at almost 35 years old I am having trouble losing any weight much less keeping it off. I am fairly active, not the type to sit in front of television and watch soap operas or anything. I am on my feet doing one thing or another most of the day. It's difficult to eat right when we are always running off to ball games for the kids and such. I just need some help, and don't know where else to turn.
Hi all, my name is Manasee, 30yrs old and I live in Los Angeles. Both my husband and I love cooking and are converting speedily into good healthy low cal cooks And any extra tips are always appreciated and so I joined the group! :)

I had already achieved most of my weightloss by diligently watching what I was eating. However, I was stuck in the 155 + zone for almost all of last year. Early this year, I started working out at least 3 times a week and within 7 months, I have lost 30 lbs. I mainly use calorie count to just reassure myself that I am following a healthy lifestyle and that I do not psychiatric attention as a patient of OCD for tracking everything that goes in my mouth :)
Hi Everyone,
I'm 19 years old, and I'm getting married very soon (Yay!) I joined calorie count because I've been overweight all my life, but I'd ballooned a lot over the last couple of years. I'm 5'6" and weigh about 220lbs. My goal is to get healthy of couorse, but I also have the vanity reason of wanting to fit into a pretty dress (The legal wedding is next week, but because of money issues, we're having our ceremony on our first anniversary.)
My weight is embarrassing, and even perfect strangers are making rude comments when I walk by, which is disheartening because I thought that with my recent move to Canada to live with my fiancee I'd have a fresh start and be able to meet adults who would get to know me for who I am rather than avoid me because of my weight. Ha, I guess adults are really just overgrown elementary school children. *Mutters to self*
Anyway, I've done one year of nursing school in Ohio, and I plan to go back to nursing school here in Victoria as soon as I have my paperwork finished. being helathy is important to me because of that, too, because I know I will be able to take better care of my patients if I am healthy and happy myself!
I've a little weight since coming here but we're shopping on a budget, and thanks to a number of issues I can't get out much. Though I am finding ways to add more activity to my day (Did you know that dance dance revolution has a workout mode? I didn't!)
Oh, and I'm very accident prone, currently my usual lightly active lifestyle has been downgraded to sedentary thanks to a severely burned foot, which I really should see a doctor for...but my new fear of cooking with oil will help out my weight loss plans I guess lol
Bad, self-destructive jokes aside, I'm glad to have found this place and I hope I will finally be able to get to a reasonable weight!

Hi! I'm Kara and I'm 19. I'm in college and am now out of the dorms and in my own apartment! No more unhealthy commons food...only I don't know how to cook, and I have no receipes. This group seems like a good opportunity to get some healthy, tasty meals together!
I joined CC a few months ago and then stopped logging on for awhile. Then I go invited to go to Mexico with my boyfriend and his family next summer. I want to look good on the beach in a bikini! I got a gym membership here at school and intend to use it extensively, whenever I am not studying.
I'm 5'8" and weigh about 160. I would like to get down to 140. Just gonna take it one pound at a time!
HI everyone, I'm Susan.
I joined CC a while ago, dropped off for a while, and have picked back up again about 3 months ago. But there is a difference now... I don't focus on the weight so much as the health aspect....and even though my weight may not fluctuate I get more notice that I'm losing weight than I was getting when the scale said I weighed less...go figure.
I'm currently on week 5 of the Couch to 5K training program, which I would highly recommend to anyone. And I'm dedicated to becoming a more active person. Never again do I want to check the "Sedentary" pick for my activity level.

I'm 38, (39 in March) and enjoying good food with good taste but less calories. I find enjoyment in making "old favorites" new by creating a fresher, low fat, low calorie alternative. And I joined this forum so I wouldn't have to do that to all the great recipes out there by myself. I'm looking forward to hearing some great suggestions!
Hi,
I have been dieting all my life. Calories do count, and I have lost 50# doing calorie counters since 11-2-07 This works if you do the work and log your calories and exersize. I am 60 and low thyroid so loosing is said to be harder. I started a group for my age group called Hot Mama's 60+ for our special needs and encouragment.
I joined this group to get some good low cal recipes and to share some too.
I have been married for 44 years, we have 4 daughters, 9 grandchildren, one cat.
Love to quilt, garden, walking, hiking, being out side in the sunshine, cooking, sewing, the beach, & travel.
Quilting is my passion, I like vintage quilts and collecting vintage fabric, also sell on-line though EBay.
Are there any quilters out there? Contact me if you are here!

hi im Mia. I live in Tokyo studyin.
I used to be 160 pounds at a height of 5'2, in other words, i was round. I started to jog everyday and eat only healthy. I lost everything down to 115 pounds. I had never been happier. A lot of people would say that 115 was to much but with my small frame, I had never been healthier looking and feeling. After I peeked I began a slow decline that took just over a year. I eat very unhealthy now, and have stoped jogging. I put on 10 pounds to top it off. So I feel heavy, unhealthy and my self-esteem is suffering
This is my first experience with calorie count.
I have joined this group to gain motivation.
I work a lot. I have just started school again. Hopefully I can get more time for myself.
Hi my name is Kathy
I have had much trouble with my weight for quite some time now. At times I can be very motivated and disciplined and then there are times when I just can't stop eating. Two years ago I was down to 115 and feeling good I excercised every day. I was toned and strong and really felt good about myself. Now I am 15 pounds heavier and have no motivation or energy. All I want to do is eat. I look at the fat on my legs and the cellulite and I get depressed. I want to break this cycle and make healthy eating a way of life not just a temporary thing. I am hoping this website will help me with this.
Hi! I am 28, 5 ft 3, and currently sitting at about 162 pounds. I have an awful time staying motivated. If I don't see quick results I lose intrest. I LOVE food and enjoy eating out (probably my biggest problem!) I started CC back at the end of May weighing in at 173.5 at my heaviest. I dropped down to 157, but then my husband and I went on vacation to Hawaii. Needless to say, I didn't make the best choices there and have not been since I got back. I really need to get back on track!!
I think one of the hardest things for me since I love food so much is running out of new dinner ideas at home. I tend to get stuck in a rut, cooking the same meals over and over, and then I get bored and talk myself into going out to eat (and I don't mean just one meal - I mean EVERY meal!)
So anyway, I'm just thinking if I can find some others who have the same problems with motivation and food-love that I do, it may be a little easier on me! I definitely need the help!

I have the same problem. I LOVE food and cooking. When I get stressed, I cook everything in my fridge - then I have it all lying around just begging me to eat it :)
Last year I got a subscription to Cooking Light - it is amazing. All of the recipes are low cal and in each issue they modify several "bad for you" recipes (i.e. chocolate chip cookies) to make them lower in fat and calories.
You can get most of the recipes on the website www.cookinglight.com
Another great cook book is "the vegetable dishes I can't live without" by Mollie Katzen - she does amazing things with vegetables...
For date night, my fiance and I prepare dinner together using recipes from the magazine. If we do go out (which is not often b/c we are both in graduate school and poor) we usually split an appetizer and entree. When I'm in "serious" diet mode, I avoid restaurants all together - most of the time there are healthy options, but I usually don't have the will power to get a salad, before I know it I've eaten an entire bacon cheese burger with fries and onion rings.
Good Luck!!!
Hi! I'm SiMi and I've been on CC since Jan or Feb of this year. It's been a great motivational tool for me so far. I'm 23 (I'll be 24 in one week!) and I live in the South Eastern USA. I'm 5'7" and as of this morning 130. I'm pretty pleased with this weight but I need recipe ideas. I also have a problem of getting stuck in a rut. It seems my husband and I have been eating the same stir-fry veggies for months. I really like to eat the same things, I don't get bored easily, but my husband is about to go crazy. :) I want to be a natural cook, and I usually do a good job, I just need some ideas :)
Hi! I'm Algrette. I'm 37 w/ 2 girls, 12 & 9, a husband, 2 rats, assorted fish, & a greyhound. I work part time in a virtual call center for a national florist as well as having my own small floral shop, as well as being taxi driver to my kids who are very involved in assorted activities.
I've struggled with my weight most of my life, being overweight in highschool, loosing it in college & gaining it back after children. I've been on cc for the better part of 6 months though only became a member in June '08. Today I weighed in @ 175lbs, & am 5'5" tall. I have recommitted myself to becoming healthier, not so much as loosing weight, though at this point they go hand in hand.
I joined this group because I need help in getting out of the rut I'm in with cooking. I love to cook & eat, I just have very picky eaters in my house. If my husband had his way we would dine on take out pizza & wings every night. I f my oldest daughter had her way we would be eatting steak & potatoes every night. And if my youngest had her way we would be eating ceral every night. So i need help with awesome tasting foods that won't undo all my hard work. I would also prefer not having to go grocery shopping everyday for items I just don't stock.
