And now just go ahead and make that first post!

1. History with weight loss: 12 lbs VERY SLOWLY
2. History with Calorie Count: Have a hard time figuring out the system on here but I can stick to healthy food
3. Reason for joining this group: To get healthier recipes
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I have a 16 month old son (that is the reason I need to lose weight) I am married to a US soldier whom I love with every peice of me but he's no help to my eating habits.....He eats like he's aiming for high cholesterol.....I am 22 by the way....I am a stay at home mom and we have 2 dogs.....

Hello, i am a 27 year old female. I have been struggling with my weight for many years. In the past 3 years I had gained over 45lbs and was 193lbs at my highest weight.

I started exercising in November of 07 and found calorie count in December. Since then I have lost over 30lbs and have been holding at 158ish lbs for the past 3-4 months.

I have still been eating way better than I ever have before, but I eat a lot. So I am a fan of low calorie recipes. I love Hungry-Girl.com and try to lower calories in homemade dishes as much as possible.

I starting riding a bike to work because i'm a little inconsistent on the exercise these days. So that guarantees me at least 30mins of cardio right.

I have a dog and two cats. I live with my boyfriend of 2 years and I am a Graphic Designer: Marketing Assistant, Event planner, supervisor, and so many other things and I get paid very little and am currently looking for a more fulfilling-better job that pays a decent wage to it's hard working employees.

Hello Low-Cal Group!

Note: I'm posting the same "intro" on each group that I have joined rather than recreating the wheel each time, so I apologize if you see this more than once.

A funny thing happened yesterday...

I was doing research for a book I'm writing, when I stumbled upon CalorieCount.com. I watched the demo and poked around a bit and figured out this was a really great resource for recipes, nutritional information, and weight management. I began this project 6 weeks ago and this site was a real eye-opener for me! I found that many of the recipes that I've been preparing for my family for years are loaded with fat, carbs, and calories. Given this information, I am truly amazed that my whole family isn't dealing with serious weight issues--YIKES!

So, my primary motivation for joining this group is to find healthier alternatives for my meal planning that A) will cut back on our calorie intake, B) not take a whole lot of time to prepare and C) me, my kids and husband will actually eat. The last one is probably going to be the toughest because we absolutely LOVE to eat high-fat, high-carb comfort foods (can you say homemade macaroni and cheese?).  Even though mac 'n cheese is probably my most favorite thing in the whole world to eat, I also love sushi, salads, and just about anything that can be eaten raw. However, the rest of my family does *not* share my enthusiasm for these things, so they are pretty much non-existent in their diets.

Though I'm only about 15 pounds overweight and it really doesn't show because I'm fairly tall (5'8"), I really hate being a size 12 and want to get back to my pre-pregnancy size from 11 years ago. Actually, I was wearing a size 8 then (135 lbs), but that was a little too thin; I think I look best at a weight of around 150 or size 10.

WOW, this is getting really long--sorry about that! Just a couple more things about me if you care to keep reading:

I  live in the beautiful high desert of Central Oregon (where the sun shines something like 350 days a year) with my husband, 2 boys ages 9 & 11, 2 dogs (both lab/shepherd crosses that came from the local animal shelter), 1 Tennessee Walking Horse, and 4 dwarf hamsters. My husband and I have owned and operated a small garbage company serving about 1200 people here for the past 13 years.

In no particular order, I enjoy horseback riding, golfing, hiking, gardening, cooking, reading, photography (love to take pictures of food!), tent-camping, & volunteering at my kids' schools.

Thanks for reading and I look forward to being part of this community!

P.S. Can anyone tell me if including my website address in my signature is allowed? Would that be considered advertising?

Hi, I am Joe....a 36 year old computer professional who is 346 lbs with a BMI fo 46.1.  Yes, firmly in the "morbidly obese" category.  Anyway, I have tried Weight Watchers and do well on there, until I lose interest.  I have been as high as 375 and as low as 290.  Currently, my office is doing a biggest loser competition and some of the othere participants told me about this site.  I have logged my weight since Aug 25th and have been logging food since Sept 9th.  I am finding it pretty easy to keep in a 1400 to 1500 calorie range during the week, but I have a feeling that will be much harder on the weekends.  While trying to keep my diet fairly balanced, I am really only concentraiting on keeping my calorie count under 2000 each day and makeing sure that I don't go over 30% fat content.  I know there is more to it, but that is my starting point.

My initial goal is to lose 100 lbs in a year.  Again, I understand that is lofty, but I know from WW that I am able to lose 2-3 a week for quite some time before I plateau.

I joined this group to get some creative ideas to make good food.  I love cooking and I love eating, so anything new to try is always a bonus.

That is about it!  Feel free to ask if you have any questions--and I will be sure to share recipes as I find good ones!

hi! i'm 17 years old, and half live in my kitchen. no i'm just kidding. but my passion is cooking, and i want to become a culinary artist. my past has had alot of struggles with weight and i'm trying to find a friendly way to not fear food anymore...and i was hoping for some good insight and ideas in this group! im currantly in school so i dont have much time for a job, though i am a feeding assistant at a nursing home, and i was a secretary in a patient education department at our city's hospital. i dont want to bore anyone with myself though, so here goes!

Hi everybody!

I am a 53 year old woman who lives in northern Michigan. I am recovering from a disease called Cushing's disease. Mine was caused by a pituitary tumor. The tumor made my adrenals kick out lots of cortisol, the fight or flight hormone, but also the hormone that causes us to pack on lots of fat. I gained about 80 pounds with this disease. I tried every diet on earth and nothing worked to lose more than a couple of pounds.

I had surgery to remove the pituitary tumor in Jan. 2007. I started losing weight right away. I've lost 54 pounds easily and now it's time for me to get serious about losing the rest. I want to get healthy, and I need to build my muscles again because Cushing's also wastes muscle. I'm walking 3 miles at least 5 days a week, and hiking some in addition to that. I need to keep better track of what I am eating, and that's why I joined here. I am impressed with all the options to help us lose weight on this site!

I'm married, live in the woods, and have 4 grown children - 3 girls and a boy. I'm also a gramma to 4 girls and one boy. I have a funny little cockapoo who is a big baby!

My husband and I both lost our jobs earlier this year. We worked at the same place, and unfortunately Michigan is losing lots of jobs these days. We are working on getting specific jobs now, and feel that it will work out. My biggest worry is no health insurance!

Sorry - I wrote a book!

Hi, I''m 29 years old and what can i say I love food. I love preparing and eating new and comfort cusine. My favorite channel is the Food Network and I make my own version of what I watch most of the time.

I'm currently 117lbs and for my height (all 5 feet of me) my doctor says that its a healthy weight and not to loose a single pound before my next check-up. But reality crashed in when she told me that my cholesterol is way over the limit and I need to bring it down in the next few months.

I'm here to watch what I eat especially the calories and fat intake but I don't want to lose the flavour of what I eat. I have a couple of receipes that I found and tried that highlight those two things (low cal and low fat) and they taste amazing, but I'm always open to new ideas.

Thanks for having me. =D

Hello Everyone !

My name is Melissa. I live in Southern California my current weight today is 194 which is considered "obese" ( I can not get over that !). I'm pretty good at maintaining a weight or size.  I've been a size 14 since I was a senior in H.S ( a million years ago! ha ha) After the birth of my first child who is now 13 my weight went a bit higher, higher, higher until I was a size 22! At that point I KNEW I had to drop weight...and I did ! I went back to size 14 jeans again and was happy to stop there and maintain.  Since then I've had another child who is now 6 and my size is the same....I do notice it "moving" and I think that is an age thing ! I will be 40 next month and I want to be on my way to a much healthier lifestyle by then.  I quit smoking after 25 years (YAY!).  Now it is time to get this weight off~ I don't ever want to be considered obese! I truly have the BEST husband who knows when to support me and when to say nothing :x

I know I can do this ~ I tend to get bored as it looks like most people do and I tend to feel "alone" when doing this ~ making a few friends would be a wonderful bonus along the way !

Hi from jobelize...I am a canadian who spends winters in belize...I hate the cold...I will be 50 very soon and have struggled with my weight all my life..I yoyo alot...but raised alot by my granny she wasnt happy unless I had a cookie in each hand...overall I eat fairly healthy as I am not a junk eater but I would only eat once a day ..and my body was always in starvation mode so would save up not knowing when it would get food again..."wrong"...I am changing this thanks to cc .I joined 2 months ago which has helped big time..being a nurse I should know better ..with working shift work weight has been a hard thing to manage..always bouncing all over the board with sleep, eat daily routines.  I tend to gain weight slowly over time ...it inches on and before you realize it the weight you worked so hard to get off has creapt back on and then some. So its like starting from scratch after awhile. Thus the yoyo affect. Always looking for healthy ways to mix up the meals...invent a cook always...can always teach an older dog new tricks Cool

a good way to lower your cholesterol...ground flax...i recomended to my g/f who also was threatened with medication for high colesterol...after 3 months of adding one tablespoon to her morning cereal her col was almost back to normal...no pills...but use the ground flax not the seeded flax...and you can add it to foods while cooking you cant even taste it in there...good luck

I am a stay-at-home mom with 3 boys ages 3, 5, & 7.  I'm 43 and had 3 C-sections.  My history is that I was always the skinny girl who could eat anything and never gained weight, but I was always very active.  Now, my life is sedintary and I weigh 171 lbs.  I'd like to lose 25lbs.  and need to eat right, but I don't like to because I never had to. So, I'm hoping that I can find some tasty food that will help me reach my goal.  I have a treadmill so that will help with the exercise.  I like to walk on it while I watch the Biggest Loser.  I find that show inspirational.  I need to walk on it more than once a week. Laughing

I have been overweight most of my adult life.

I joined CC+ earlier this month and I just love it!

I am here to find some other foods that I can combine and make new recipes.

I am single mother of 2. They live with their father and I see my youngest about 3 times a month. I am sedentary so I cannot do exercise. I have many health problems some related to the weight and some not; ie, brain tumor, MS.

I look forward to meeting new people and sharing recipe

Hi, My name is Stacia and I am 33 yrs old. As a child and a teen I was very skinny and could eat anything. Then I had my oldest daughter and got on the Depo-provera shot. I gained 75 lbs within a couple months. Then with each of the next 2 kids I gained a few more pounds. Last year around this time I decided I wanted to do something about it, so I changed the way I was eating and began exercising. I also had a friend tell me about this site. I did very well, I lost 55 lbs.

In May I started having alot of pain in my tummy, so me being the procrastinator that I am, didn't do anything about it until my hubby forced me to call my DR. When I finally got in to see her, she said I had a hernia so she sent me to a surgeon. It took a few weeks to be able to see him and he scheduled me for surgery. I had the surgery on Aug 11th 2008. While I was out I gained back about 15 lbs of what I had lost.  Now I am going to get back into my dieting routine and lose the last 38 pounds I still have left.  I still am not able to do as much exercise as I would like to, so I am sure this time my weight loss will go a little slower. Dr says I still must take it easy.

I am married to a wonderful man named Mike, we are coming up on our 10th anniversary in March. We have 3 beautiful children. I am a SAHM who sells Avon. I love to meet new people and I hope I can find a dieting buddy to be accountable to. I love to cook and bake!

I am in college getting my four year degree and being a college kid, every where I look is food that is bad for me. Plus, I spend a lot of my time sitting. Add this all together and you have me wanting to look and feel better so i would like to loose about 15 lbs by christmas. One of my main problems is that I eat what is handy and what I have time for. Most of the time I make good choices but at the end of the day I always eat more than I should. I am looking for healthy and CHEAP foods to eat that will help me reach my 145 lbs goal by christmas. I enjoy exercise and taking walks but time is not always on my side.

I am a 26 year old SAHM of 4 beautiful children.  I have been married to my high school sweet heart for over 6 years now.  As the years have gone by I have suffered several physical, mental, and emotional let downs and I am an emotional eater.  When I am mad I eat and when I am happy I eat.  I am home all day and sadly most of it is spent on the computer trying to run my jewelry business.  I do well most of the day but once the kids and my husband get home I end up eating more for dinner than I ate the whole day!  I like walking but I either don't have the energy or there is no time.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hi everyone!

I am 28,I'm a stay-at-home mom to 4 kids,3 are in school,I've been married for 11 years...I've never had such a hard time losing weight before, all it used to take was excersice and diet pills(they don't work anymore without the ephedra)so now I'm trying to lose it the healthy way,the problem is pms time which for me is almost 2 weeks out of the month,I get sugar cravings like u wouldn't believe and I have been craving a Big Mac lately( I hate McDonalds)where did that craving come from?lol anyways,I'm hoping that there will be some low cal recipes on here to help with cravings so far the only low cal things I know how to make is chicken and veggies(thats my normal dinner) everything else I make with lower calories seems to be loaded with sodium and I swell up like a balloon the next day.Oh,one more thing has anyone tried Yoga Booty Ballet? It is sooo fun!!!I get bored with workouts pretty quick so I always switch it up and I've been doing YBB for a couple of weeks now and am seeing results, plus it's really fun...

Hi my name is Maryanne, I am 57 and have been steadily gaining weight since having my two daughters, now I am a grammy of 4. I am married for 35 years to same great guy.   I am very busy I have a full time job in accounting and a part time job waitressing at a very nice restaurant the Blackdog cafe.  great food it shows. Plus spending time going to games to see the 4 grandchildren play soccer.

I joined CC a while back but never got fully focused on it. Now my knees hurt and starting to affect my ankles.  I have diabetes as of 01/05/08 so this is another reason to get motivated and lose weight. I picked this group for inspiration on cooking better and some great feedback on how to stay on track.

I like to knit, read and watch Nascar.

Hi everyone.  My name is Melissa and I have been counting calories for over a month now.  I have always struggled with the 20 pounds of weight.  I have done every diet there is out there.  The Atkins worked for a couple of years but I love fruit and bread and this caused me to suffer way to much.  I have an office manager job and it is slow slow slow.  I have a very difficult time with 8 hours at my desk because I eat when I am bored.  Hence, I found Calorie Count! Yeah.  I have told everyone at Curves about it and we added the website to our last newsletter.

My current stats are 5'2", 130.50, goal 125 or less, started at 138.  I go to curves 4x per week, ride my airdyne bike 13-17 miles every day and walk 30-60 mins when I can.  My short term goal is to see 129.  My husband and I quit smoking 2 years ago and since then I have not seen the 120's!  I can't wait!

Hi, my name is Diana. I'm 28 and extremely over weight. This is the first time I decided to go on a diet, although I prefer to say life style change. I would like to loose 100 pounds minimum. I really like this web site but I joined this group to look for some good low cal. recipies. I'm a stay at home mom with 3 girls and am married. My husband is a very picky eater and it is hard to prepare a meal that the whole family will like. It is very nice to meet you all and I look forward to talk to you and recieving and sharing recipies.Laughing
