Welcome! We would love get to know you, so please tell us a little bit about yourself. You can choose any format you'd like, but most of us here share some or all of the following details:

1. History with weight loss:
2. History with Calorie Count:
3. Reason for joining this group:
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests:

And now just go ahead and make that first post!

Hi airstreamline!

I too am a yogi foodie! Also love to do things with friends...as my journals attest LOL!

There are a number of very good recipes at CC, so let the search engines help you find good stuff. One nice feature here is that you can have your own recipes analyzed and when they are as you like them nutrition wise you can upload them to the database.

Let everyone know if you post something new.

I recently added two very flavorful dishes. A white chili under 400 for a very large serving and a black-eyed pea turkey Italian sausage recipe well under 300 calories!

It's rather fun to play with your recipe and alter its nutritional grading while keeping the emotional and taste satisfaction levels high. For a foodie, this is critical in happy weight loss. Have fun!

Hi there!

My name is Wendy.  I'm a writer, filmmaker, teacher, and animal enthusiast! ;)

I've been vegetarian for 5 1/2 years.  I currently weight 155 and I'm 5'8".  My goal is to be 130 - 135 lbs and be very fit and healthy!

My living room elliptical machine, my free weights, this website, and my cooking are my tools for success right now.  Looking for great vegetarian recipes and weight loss support and encouragement!

Thanks.

Hi wwegner!

There's tons of great vege recipes here. Some are posted to forums, some are already in recipe form in the database. I found some terrific bean dishes. Even the recipes I listed above are easily made vege w/morningstar crumbles (it already calls for vege broth) and in the case of the black-eyed pea dish you should add an assortment of Italian spices including fennel w/the crumbles to replace the turkey sausage. But then, you may like vege sausage and could just use that. I love vege "burgers", "chicken", and breakfast patties, but there's something about the hot dogs and sausages that I find off-putting. Maybe I just haven't tried the right brands. I am not a vegetarian, I am a sometimesatarian that would, for health reasons, like to gradually shift more towards ovo-lacto.

If you find any great recipes, please post them or the links.

Have fun at CC.

Hello.

I just joined the site today after weighing myself at the gym and seeing that I've gained weight again. I've not weighed this much since I was on Prednisone. T_T I've been chubby/fat all my life and I've struggled with the confidence issues that come with it. During my middle school and high school years I had to endure the tomentuous comments regarding my weight from my stepfather who deemed it appropriate to force me to run a mile nonstop and also to do PT grass drills.

Despite the ridicule he nor my mother never really taught me portion control or made it clear that large fries in my McDonalds combo at 15 years old contributed to being fat. So now that I'm 23 and being educated by friends, school, and my doctors, I know what to look for. But damn those cookies for looking so good! OH GOD! And they're on SALE!!!!

om nom nom nom followed by guilt. Hooray.

I need advice on how to eat healthy to lose weight. But I have a liver disease so anything high protein is a no go. I really want to start eating better at home and avoiding eating out since I always lose my momentum there. =(

Hey Everybody,

Im an Irish lad and I'm from Co.Kerry in Ireland.

Always had trouble with my weight, peaked at 323 lbs in 2007 but lost a good bit and got down to 205lbs at one stage. Now I'm 238 and have yo yoed up and down for the last year....its a constant battle.

I joined to get low calorie cooking suggestions and ideas how to maintain weight.

Ill be honest, Im not super active so my battleground is with portion control and calories.

Regards

J

I was born fat. I was a fat kid, teenager, 20 something, 30 something. At 40 yrs old, I dropped 90lbs by walking and dieting. At 43 I got crazy sick with allergies and took steroids for the better part of a year. I also gained back all those pounds. I have not had the heart to try again until now. I joined calorie count a couple years ago, but found it very cumbersome...not user friendly.

I am really lazy. The kitchen is my least favorite place to be. I eat out alot. When confronted with dieting, I am not too creative, and I'm growing tired of turkey sandwiches. I freaking hate lettuce and don't really see the point of salads...except maybe for fiber...

Although I've always watched 'Biggest Loser', this past season was the first time I could really identify with the contestants. Early this week I watched, as a 48 yr old woman ran a marathon in less than 6 hours...amazing...and she started out as big, if not bigger than me! She gave me the motivation I needed to commit to a sensible lifestyle.

I'm 47 and have been a yo-yo dieter all of my adult life. To counteract that I've tried not to diet but eat more healthy foods. I lost 10 kilos two years ago through a 'challenge' with a group of like minded people. We exercised every day bar one and were careful how much we ate and limited carbs to early in the day. We also lifted weights. It was great, but once we'd finished I'd not reached my goal weight. It was harder when the group finished but I kept on exercising and trying to eat better. Then I went back to work full time, with my husband and daughter to look after. It was very stressful and I started to slowly put that weight back on. Now, I'm nearly back to the weight I was 2 years ago and I need that extra motivation to get my eating right.

I enjoy exercise and do aerobics twice a week, tap-dance once a week and play social tennis once a week. I also go for hour long walk 2 to 3 times a week.

I sing in the local choir, and play guitar for them as well. I am currently completing my second mosaic piece and I'm enjoying that greatly at the moment.

My Name is Cindy. Im 29, 5'1 159lbs. My goal is 145 by the end of 2009 so i can take NICE xmas pictures with my family.

Hi Everyone,

I am 20 years old and a soon-to-be senior at a large university. I do not have many interests since school consumes my life, but I definitely love too relax (watching TV or by walking) whenever I can.

I have always had weight problems. As a sophomore in high school, I first lost plenty of weight (30lbs. in 3 months) and maintained a low weight between 105-120 lbs since then.....up til a few months ago!

I'm 5'7" now, weighing in around 130, it is humiliating!! I don't even bother putting on jeans! I feel like I have lost "it," along with my self-esteem. That is why I am here. Trying to get back to how I once was, having more control over what goes into my big mouth!!

Frequent, and awful, panic attacks I have had since high school helped me with weight loss/maintenance, but I have had my fair share of eating disorders too.

Too avoid this, I always eat healthy and portion control is key for me (which I have been lacking now). I will share a few low-calorie recipes here which I never get sick of and that I find are easy to cook.

Good luck everyone!!! YOU CAN DO IT!

Hi everyone i am a 21 year old from Scotland and iv just finished university with an honours degree in Business.  Iv always had a constant battle with my weight and i lost 3 and a half stone (49lbs) around two years ago iv since put back on 1 and half stone (21lbs) and currently started a new diet last wednesday and cut to 1000 calories and lost 4lbs this week. Hi I's new to Calorie Count and decided that I needed support from other people who battle the desire to eat.  I love baking and that has been one of my downfalls in my up and down weight gain fight.  I'm hoping to find recipes that are low in calories, but do not require expensive ingredients and lots of time to make. (Is there even such a thing!)  Although I like to cook, I'm not a gourmet cook by any means.  I have started an herb garden so that I can use fresh herbs in my cooking so I'm learning about that now.  I am a retired school administrator who is currently working as a part-time nanny for my grandkids and I love it.

Hi! I'm new to Calorie Count, been keeping up with it for about a week and a half now. I just graduated from JMU with my Master's degree in education and will start working full time as a teacher this coming August. I'll be moving out on my own and cooking for myself for the first time - no meal plan! Over the past year, I've really felt myself feeling bad about my body, not wanting to wear certain outfits and CERTAINLY not ready to head to the beach this summer for a family reunion. I joined this group in order to get some recipes that are low-calorie and still taste good - I'm getting sick of eating the same thing over and over!

Hi everyone... I am 29 years of age. I live in Jamaica. For most of my life i have been very active however of late I only want to eat junk food and relax at the computer. My favourite sports are kickboxing, swimming and soccer.

Hello,

My name is Leigha, I joined calorie count so I can learn to eat healthy.  I never used to have to watch what I eat but I have noticed lately that working out just isn't enough, I want to regain control of my eating habits.

Hi Everyone,  I'm Kassie.

I joined CC cause my Dr. wants me to start counting calories.  I have been  fighting with trying to lose weight for years and I have tried everything.  I'm a constant yo-yo.    I love to cook so I'm hoping I can find so new and healthy recipes.

i am 17 yrs old and i jsut had my first baby in january and i was 170 to begin with but at the end of my pregnancy i was 200 and and lost about 20 pounds afte giving birth but then basically gained it all back cause now i am 192 and not loving it that is to much for a 17 yr old to weigh and cc makes it so i can eat what i want just less of it

Hey Everyone! I am 24 soon to be 25 in about a week and half. I had my first (and only so far) baby at 22 and was extremely sick in the beginning and then once I got over it, gained A LOT of weight. I really started to watch my weight after I stopped breast feeding when my daughter was about 5-6 months old. I don't diet well so I just watched what I ate and how much of it I ate. I got married in November and did a great job of taking off the baby weight and now that life has slowed down a bit, my eating habits have gone down the drain. My sister in law is really trying  to lose weight and I just want to get back to my wedding weight and get healthy. I love to bake and cook and the recipe analyzer was one of the big reasons I joined CC. I am also hoping to find a few new recipes to try out on my husband and daughter!!

1- i lost about 10 pounds just by changing my diet from junk food to healthy food

2-um, i have no history on calorie count besides the last two days...

3- to lose 10 more pounds!

4- i'm 14 and plan on losing those pounds before starting grade 9. i'm a pescitarian ( a vegetarian who eats fish) and currently don't intake any junk food except on special occations (such as today when i had a moolatte with friends after our basketball tournament)

yup, that's pretty much it about me.

Hey there!

I am a 19 year old physical education student who recently moved out with my boyfriend of three years. I have been maintaining a weight of 134lbs for my 5'5" stature. I recently got a body composition test done which indicated that I have a body fat percentage of 19%. My personal trainer gave me some weight programs and I am currently trying to drop my body fat to only essential body fat (12-16%), reducing my weight to 129-125lbs. I'm hoping to reach at least 129 by August third.

I really enjoy cooking/baking and am begining to try out new recipes so this seems like the perfect place to snag some great ideas!
