Hello All:
I have just joined today and I really need some help to get me on track. I can't say I have been dieting, as now I am 90 lbs overweight. What Happened????
I am 53 now. I still think I am in my 20's., except when I look in the mirror. I have been very lucky as I am a healthy person, now just obese. I like to walk, and golf, swim and can do just about any sport or excersise. I also enjoy eating, and drinking. I enjoy a cold beer or two in the summer, and a nice bottle of red wine, on a cold winter night(do you think this is my problem?) I enjoy cooking as well, and am pretty good at it. I know I need to do a major life style change. I want to lose about 90 lbs. It seems like so much - almost another person.
I have alot more to say, however I am short on time at the moment. Look forward to continuing this journey, and hope to meet others to share it with.

Hello all,
I have recently found and joined the site. My name is Karen, I am 49 y/o, and after being in 4 accidents over the years,(not due to my own driving- lol) and not completely rehabilitating after the second one, the weight has just crept up on me over the last 12 years. Now I am told I need to lose 91 lbs.
This is unbelivable to me,as it is almost double what I should weigh.
I am an RN by profession, and obviously not working in the field. I love dogs, especially my German Shepherd.
I would like to make some friends for support, perhaps activities too!
I live in the Barrie Ont area, previously T.O. I enjoy nature, gardening, and being outdoors.
I've never attempted anything like this before, but now it is a life or death situation for me, as I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, and have not quit smoking yet.
I also love music, all kinds except for C&W, my fav is Reggae, souls, smooth jazz. Back in the day, I also loved to dance, and my goal is to rehab to the point where I am able to do so again.
All the best to everyone,
Karen
1. History with weight loss: from 2004 to 2007 I managed to lose about 90 lbs. dropping from 265 to 178. Then I got pregnant, and after my daughter was born I continued the unhealthy eating habits I had re-established while in my final trimester.
2. History with Calorie Count: I guess I joined this site back in the summer of 2008, but I never really got much use out of it, never joined any groups or posted on the forums... I am hoping to use it as a motivational tool this time around, and that I will see real results and real efforts from myself.
3. Reason for joining this group: I live in Ontario, of course! It's always nice to find people you share some common grounds with.
4. Some interesting details about yourself,
such as
your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I'm 24, I'm not working atm, I have an 11 month old daughter, am recently separated from my partner, and am diagnosed Bipolar II with generalized anxiety disorder and social anxiety disorder. I am also "high functioning" *grimaces*.
1. History with weight loss: i self diagnosed myself with anorexia in 2003/2004, although my psychiatrist weighed me everytime i went to see him. he never confirmed i had it. i've been skinny all my life, until i had to take meds, then the weight problems started. darn meds! i gained about 30 lbs while on one med. eventually i went up to around 158 or 160. my lowest was eighty something. that was because i have ocd and was scared to eat a lot of foods.
2. History with Calorie Count: just started recently
3. Reason for joining this group: i'm from ontario...and it would be nice to make some friends on here that are also from ontario.
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: i am on ODSP, i don't have a job, i only get along w/ my mom (most of the time), i just lost my baby (cat) on feb 27th, so it's just my rabbit now, and my interests are listed on my "about me" page. i guess i'll list them here anyways.
i like: cats, rabbits, photography, music, concerts, shopping, singing, hip hop dance, cupcakes, piano/keyboard, webcaming, msn, texting, penpaling. sometimes reading.
Hello fellow Ontarians. I have come to introduce myself and look for someone to help me keep on track.
1. History with weight loss: When I look back at pictures of me as a child, I wasn't fat, but I was bigger than all the extremely skinny girls around me, so I thought I was. I was 130 pounds at 5'5" in high school, which looking back isn't that bad, but at the time I thought I was enormous. I have been watching my weight ever since I can remember, but never really having any lasting success because I only followed a plan until the weight was lost, and then I went back to eating the way that put the extra pounds on in the first place. I started running after my 3 children were born, and combined with vitually starving myself, got myself down to 130 pounds again (I was hovering around 145-150). I thought I looked great! But then I got a bunch of injuries from playing sports, and I had to stop exercising so much, and combined with eating because I was feeling sorry for myself, gained a lot of weight. I had surgery last year and I can run and work out again, so I'm hoping I can get myself into a routine that is forever, and not just until the weight is off.
2. History with Calorie Count: I started last month. I love all the features for keeping the food diary, it really keeps me honest. I record everything on the site every day and I can see how I'm making progress. It's a great visual aid!
3. Reason for joining this group: Because I, too, live in beautifu SW Ontario, which is the greatest place on earth to live and raise a family.
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I'm married, my kids are 20, 18 and 15, I'm 46 years old. I am getting excited about wearing a bathing suit and not feeling so horrible in it this year!
If anyone is interested in a motivation buddy, someone to check in with to see how the other is doing, I would love it. I find by being accountable in some way, I am more likely to stick with it!
Hello Everyone
New to Calorie Count. For the last 3 months I've been on a fitness kick and lifestyle change program to better myself.
1. Hstory with weight loss - I am male, 6ft6, 248lbs. Used to be thin but domestic lifestyle and kids changed all that. Got very lazy and smoked like a chimney.
2. History with Calorie Count - Joined in January but have not used this site to its full potential... until now.
3. Reason for joining - I live in Kitchener.
4. About me - I work in an office. I gave up smoking in January as part of this "new lifestyle". I go to the gym almost every day and although I have not lost much weight, I am noticing results from the weight training. I have read that I need to focus on the weight loss first and then on the weight training after so that is what I am doing.
Look forward to chatting!

Hello!
My name is Mary and I am from southwestern Ontario. I have ben using Calorie count off and on for a few months now. When I first started I actualy saw some good results, so I'm going to try to push myself to make this a constant habbit. My goal is just to lose a few pounds. 30 is creeping up on me at an uncomfortably fast pace, and I feel like I need to get in beter shape before then, or it will never happen!
I dont know very many people who use this website, so I joined this group to meet some people. It is always good to have people supporting you and keeping an eye on you and your progress. I'm hoping if i start to slip, someone will call me out and tell me to "stop slacking and get your but back in gear"!
2 weeks ago, I was doing great, I had lost some weight, and I was really getting into running again. I was running with my dog one day when she tripped me up and we both took a major wipe out, and I havent been able to do much with a bum ankle for about 2 weeks. This put me right back to where I started, and I'm a little discouraged about it. I was doing soo good! I weighed 155 starting out, got down to 150, and now I'm back at 155 again :( My biggest problem is that when I slack off, I slack off hard! Not only was I sitting around with my sprained ankle not able to walk to much, but I went crazy on the junk food too! I guess I'm just like that though, I have to keep to my routine or it all goes to hell.
If anyone has some tips on how to train a dog to run properly and safely beside you, send em through!
Hi Ontarians :) I was born in Belleville but have lived in Georgetown since 1965. (Milton isn't so small anymore)
1. History with weight loss: Child of 2 overweight parents. Am what they affectionately call morbidly obese (such an uplifting term) at 370 lbs now. Severe asthma started at age 5 but got bad when I hit puberty and that is when they started the steroids. Yo Yo dieted trying to loose the weight after an attack and would just get rid of most of it and another asthma attack would hit and back up the scales I'd go. I remember once in August we had all my new clothes ready for school in the fall and I had a bad attack. By the time I got out of the hospital I was up 40 lbs. None of my nice new clothes fit and well you know how that feels. More of the story on my profile.
2. History with Calorie Count:A friend I met on FarmTown in FaceBook hooked me up with this website Saturday so I don't have much history on it. I have been doing well with the journaling but really like the activity tracker the most.
3. Reason for joining this group: I'm in Ontario and thought I might meet other like minded people in the area.
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I'm 48, single and I work for myself in my home office doing print and website design. In 2004 I lost both my parents (my brother having passed 25 yrs prior to that), had to sell their home, bought a home, moved and the Sept prior had lost my job. If you look on those stress charts I nailed nearly all of the top 5 stressors. I lost about 75 lbs while all that was going on but after things quieted down again I found myself alone with my pet Apollo (chinchilla) and severely depressed. Food being a consistant comfort drug of choice. I put back on the 75 lbs and mobility got hard with knee pain etc. In June I had to make the hard desision to free Apollo as he had gotten very ill. I'm working thru the pain of loosing my companion and am back to the gym and on the road to getting healthy again.
I look forward to sharing lots of laughs here on CC while working my way on my journey :)
Hello,
My name is Sara and I live in beautiful Ottawa, Ontario.
I have lost weight before but was unsuccessful in keeping it off due to the fact it was such a strict diet.
Ive just joined calorie count 1 week ago about and I'm eager to do this and do it for life!
I've joined this group because it makes me feel confident that my neighbours have the same goals in life and it drives me to know that succeeding isn't out of reach.
I have a cat named Simon. I work for a Canadian telecommunications company and enjoy snowboarding, long boarding, coffee...![]()

Figure out what type of eater you are and you might just find the answer to permanent weight loss.
Take the Diet Profile Test and learn to avoid the pitfalls and self-sabotage that often come with your personal profile.
