1. History with weight loss:
2. History with Calorie Count:
3. Reason for joining this group:
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests:
And now just go ahead and make that first post!
1. My history with weight loss is hitting an all time high of 176 lbs. then losing back to 150 then gaining it all back and then some. My all time high is now 190. Currently, I've lost back to 182 but I'm on track and expect it to be lower every week!
2. I joined Calorie Count a few months ago. I tell everyone I know about it.
3. I created this group because I'd like to see other people from Oklahoma so I can connect with them.
4. I'm a single mother of a 12 year old working in accounting. I have a Corgi named Wrangler and my son has a cat that thinks she owns him, named Berlioz (from Artiocats). I LOVE TO READ!!!!
Welcome to the group!!!
1. I've been somewhat overweight since I was a teenager. I think my highest (other than pregnancy) weight was about 185. Currently at 155-153 and hoping to get down to about 135.
2. Joined CC in February of 2008 and have lost about 19 lbs. since then. Love the site and have told lots of people about it.
3. Live in Oklahoma, what more can I say :)
4. I'm a 44 year old grandma (of 4). I started building my family early and now have an empty nest. I have 3 cats (LOA, Skitz and Delilah) Skita likes to play fetch... yes a cat that plays fetch! I love to read, play poker and lift weights. How's that for diversity! I have been married to a wonderful man for 28 years.
Hi my name is Tiffany and I just moved to a little town named Vian on July 4, 2008.
1. I have been chubby my whole life and really over weight the past 15 years. I have PCOS and that trigger my first onset of weight. About 40 pounds in 2 1/2 months. That was back in 1994. My highest weight has been 197 and as of 08/27/08 it was 189.6. (I weighed at the doctors office) I don't own a scale and I guess I will buy one tomorrow.. lol
2. I joined yesterday!!!
3. Earlier I mentioned moving in July so I actually don't know a SOUL here in this town. I am looking to find people to help push me to try to lose weight. I have tried to do it alone in the past and that does not work for me.
4. I am married to a wonderful man. We will be married 10 years in Nov. I have 1 stepson who is 11. I have had him in my life since he was 11 months old and full custody of him since he was about 3 1/2. He is my light! He is my son and I hate that stepmom has a negative undertone. Yes I am a step mom but he is my son, maybe not thru my womb but from my heart and dreams.
My hubby works in the oilfield and I am a SAHM. We have 2 pets a rabbit named Smokey and a pug named Trixie. I love to crochet, read, go to football games and hang out with my old man! Oh I failed to mention FISHING. lol
I just found this Oklahoma group. I am from Cushing. I am a mom of 5, happily married. I am 33 yrs old, 5'5. I am trying to lose 40 lbs. My cw is 175, my sw 184, and my gw 135.
1. Ive always been a big guy and I use to be a Big healthy guy until i stopped playing sports and went to college. Eventually I got less active and bigger. When i graduated i was 6'2 250. Which at the time i thought i was the biggest thing walking and hated it but my doctor always told me that i was healthy as long as i stayed acted. Here i am almost 10 years later and im still 6'2 lol but 320 lbs. so i need to change my life and im only 27 so this is a better time than ever for me because i am finally ready to make that change.
2. I found calorie count by accident and glad that i did. like others i tell everyone i know about it. The Harsh reality for me was realizing how many calories i use to eat in a day. sometimes as much as 5000. That was unbelievable to me!
3. I have to represent oklahoma to the fullest always and forever. Oklahoma is one of the top fat states. and i feel im making an effort to change that one person at a time.
4. I work at a call center and basically i sit down for 10 hours. I work graveyard and use to rely on McDonalds and Quiktrip for food since everything was closed. Now i cook meals and control my portions. I love music and art. I use to draw alot but that was when i was depressed. i guess you can say that was my Anti-Depressant. anyways Lets get fit Oklahoma!
1. Howdy everyone. I have always had a wieght problem. In 2005 before my twins were born I was about 286 lbs so I weight to get healthy for the twins When they were born in Feb of 2006 I was down to 220 and then I had a umbelica hernia operation well I quit excersing after the operation and ofcourse my eating got out of control. We moved from Texas to Bartlesville OK in 2007 and ofcourse I left the scale behind. Dec of 2008 my security issue work pants popped a clasp and I was feeling miserable health wise anyway I told myself no more I want to be around a little longer to see my twins grow up So for 2009 resoultion was to lose wieght. I wieghed in on Jan 2 at 326 I was like omg I swore I would never go over 300 lbs 5' 10 at 326. My goal is to finally get down to my ideal weight of 175 and to keep it off. And I know I well do it because I am ready and my 3 yr old twins give me the inspiration.
2. I found calorie count by chance. I was searching the web for good calorie counters and nutrion guides to help balance my diet. Found it on the 28th of Jan. Was a shock to me just how much hidden sodium and fats and carbs are in the food we eat.
3. I live in Oklahoma and want to be with fellow brothers and sisters going through the same thing.
4. I work at Sunoco Oil Refinery in Tulsa as a security guard. I am sitting down for about 8 hours a shift which I am sure contributed to my wieght gain.
I love my wife and twins boy and girl. THey are my world and not only for myself they are the reasons I am doing this. It makes me feel good everytime I workout and I look down and see my 3 yr old son mimicking dad and working out to.
Hello fellow Okies. I am actually a transplanted Okie. I was raised mostly in Alabama but we have lived here since 1982 so I guess we are Okies now. I was normal weight until I had my first child in 1974 and gained 75 pounds to 202 pounds. I have probably lost at least 600 pounds in my 56 years and gained them all back with change to spare. My husband and I just quit smoking in December and I am at an all time high of 285.6 and I am only 5'3". Needless to say I have back, knee and heart problems and that puts a kink in my exercise plans but I found this site a few days ago and have been trying to rid my house of 'bad' foods. My husband is tall and thin and he does the grocery shopping soI am going to have to make some changes there. I am a registered nurse working in a small psychiatric hospital in Tulsa.I feel better already. You are the people besides me who know how much I weigh, besides my doc.Thank God we have access to so much wonderful information. And the tools are wonderful. I am here for any who need a supporting hand in your weight loss battle and I hope some of you will do the same for me.
I will start by saying - Hi yall! I was raised an Okie and still here. I have always had problems with my weight and fought it most of my life. Over the last two years, I was able to maintain (to a point), but I recently had surgery on my arm and sat at home for three weeks ... grazing! I am still not able to get into a good cardio excercise and probably will not for another month or so. I was wearing size 8 or 10 and now my 12's are too small. I am 5'6" and need to lose about 35 pounds. I am looking for any support that I get from everywhere and I found this web site and thought that I would give it a try. I have lost 2 pounds in my first week and I consider that great!
Hi, I am Rosa and am currently going to college for pre-law and am a freelance writer at the moment. I have four children and love my husband. I am currently wanting to maintain my weight and eat healthier. I recently had some blood work done for our insurance company and found out that my colestrol was high and my blood count was low along with some other issues. I am in my twenties and realize that I need to take care of these before it is too late.
I have lived in Oklahoma off and on for almost my entire life. I am originally from around Durant but currently live in OKC.
Hi, all. My name is Brooke, and I'm trying to lose some baby weight. I had twins 10 months ago, and its been a lot harder to lose the weight than it was after my other kids were born (I have 5). I got up to about 200 pounds right before I gave birth, some of that was water weight as I was on complete bedrest. After I had my 3rd child, I joined weight watchers and Jazzercise, and got back down to 125 pounds. I'm really hoping to get down to at least 130 lbs this time. I'm only 5ft 3 1/2 inches, and tend to carry all my weight in my abdomen, butt and thighs. I turned 31 this year, and I know the older I get, the harder it will be to get the weight off. I just joined Calorie Count today, and I'm really hoping it will help me get a handle on the amount of calories I'm eating.
I have a husband, 5 kids (3 boys, 2 girls), 4 dogs, several fish, and I live in a suburb of Tulsa.
Hi my name is Bill, and I am always needing to keep and eye on my eating and weight gains. I am 52 yrs old, 5'8", today I weigh 169lbs. I really have to pay attention or my weight goes up to around 180 which has been my heaviest so far. I love to eat . But I want to stay as trim and healthy as possible. I found calorie count, looking for information about food calorie information. I am joining this group because I might be able to meet other Oklahomans, and support each other in our weight loss issues. I live in Oklahoma City, and work for Dept. Of Human Services, for the last 29 years. I have one son who is 29 and one grandchild that is 5 months old. I have been dating the same girlfriend for 18 years and we like it that way just fine, thanks. We both fight the battle of the bulge. I enjoy exercise and fitness activities. I am looking forward to spring and summer.
Hi, I have been using this sight for about 2 years, but I have always quit before I reached my goal. I just turned 50 yesterday and I am determine to be at my healthy weight of 130 pounds by this time next year. I am currently at 187, but have been as heavy as 198 pounds. I am 5 ft. 2 in so being overweight is very noticeable. I sliped and hit my head on a patch of ice several years ago. Now I have daily headaches, some very bad and others are not as bad. So I am no longer able to work. I have a wonderful husband who is disabled with arthritis, degenerative bone desease in his back diabetes and fibromyalgia and spends most of his time in bed. I have 3 grown children. The oldest, a son got married and moved aways about 7 years ago. The next one is also a son, but he is single and still living with us for financial reasons. The last one is our daughter. She, her husband and 9 month old girl are also living with us for financial reasons. We also have 3 cats and tow large dogs. My house is not real big, but it is very full. I have to admit I enjoy having my kids around because life with my husband only is not a lot of fun. I enjoy sewing and quilting, and I like to read.
I am looking forward to getting to know all of you and cheer you on. We can do this together.
Hi, I'm only 16 and i'm not too much over weight but all my friends are very very skinny. And my boyfriend is skinnier than me, but he didn't used to be. His older brother who is 21 recently told him that he thought i was fat and for some reason my boyfriends decided to tell me. That is my motivation for losing weight. I don't want people talking behind my back. And I want to feel good about myself, not ashamed. I just joined Calorie Count today in hopes that it will help me stay on track. I live in OKC with my mom, dad, 2 sisters, 2 cats, and a dog. My other sister got married a couple years ago and they live on the South side of the city. I'm about to turn 17 next month and will be a Senior. I'm going to live at home my freshman year of college and hopefully be able to get an apartment the next year so I can live in Norman and go to OU for physical therapy. I've had problems with weight since about the 4th grade and am becoming more and more driven to do something about it before I graduate. I hope to also be able to encourage others and help them to also become more driven.
Hi, My name is Caroline. I joined calerie count looking for support. I am a stay at home mom right now. My husband and I have six children, all young. My youngest daughter was born with a cronic disability, that requires full care and for the past three years could not be put into any type of child care. It has been a long road. She is 3 and half now, and is fixing to have her fourth heart surgery. Before this surprising twist, she had had, what was suppose to be her last surgery a year ago. We were hoping to start her in school this year. And I was going to get back on track with becoming a police officer. I am fixing to be 30 and have barely done anything of what I want to do in life. Right now I am trying to stay in shape, for my Cleet Training. But it has been challanging. Plus I have no real support from my family. My husband is working and going to school. He has three years left. He has no time to help me out with the kids. And my mom is completely against me being a police officer, so she tends to critizise me and make me feel like trying is a waist of time. All the stress tends to throw me into a depression. I was doing really good, and was keeping weight off and working on me mucsle tone. But after this long last visit with my mom, my goals went out the window and I gained some weight back. My sleeping pattern is off, and I just don't seem to have the will to really try. And my husband is not of any enguragement. So here I am. On here in the hopes that I can find some support in getting through all this. To not let my mom get the best of me, and to get through this coming up surgery with my daughter. Thank you for your time.
Hi Caroline. It must be karma that caused me to take a look in here today. This group is usually pretty quiet so it's I don't check it often.
I wanted to send my heartfelt best wishes for your little one. I have a granddaughter who is a heart baby as well. She is going for a (heart cath) procedure tomorrow in fact (her 5th I think). She had open heart surgery for her 1st Christmas. She is going to be 3 in August.
I hope your little one is doing well and will send lots of good wishes for her.
May I ask what her defects are? My daughter Caden, we found out at a six month ultra sound, had a syndrome called "Ivemark Syndrome" She just had her fourth heart surgery yesterday. So far everything is going really well. She too, has had lots of heart caths. I lost count. Her last one, two months ago, they put in a occluder, blocking the flow through a vessel that was dumping a lot of blue blood into her liver. It has been a long road. She also had tummy surgery, for malrotation, and has had her tonsils and admoids removed. She is a fighter. She has a very independantness to her and a mean streak. I love her.
I hope her heart cath went well, and they had only good news.
Hi, I just joined your group today. My name is Peggy and I am 60 years young. I live in Burns Flat, Oklahoma and work at the VoTech school there. I am happily married; I have 2 grown Children aged 44 and 41; I have 5 granddaughters and 1 grandson; I have 1 great grandson. My daughter lives about 50 miles away and my son lives in Falls Church, Virginia. We have 2 indoor cats, and a few fish.
I gained about 30 pounds due to hypothyroidism and menopause. I am on thyroid medication but the weight was not comeing off. I joined cc on July 7. I am counting my calories (1200 per day) and walking 30min (1 mile) per day. Since joining I have lost 3 pounds.
My husband has been in ICU for 3 days due to dehydration and acute renal failure. I brought him home last evening (his kidney function returned). So I have not been able to count calories on those days. I hope to get back on the diet track next Monday.
Thank you all for shareing! Peg
Welcome!!!! We're so glad that you're here!!!
I'm glad you've joined our group!
I hope your husband is feeling better! Keep you're chin up and keep doing what you can to watch those calories AND take care of hubby. It's not about a strict regime but about doing what you can. A small success is still a success!
GREAT job on the 3 pounds. Everyone starts some where!!!
Have you lived in Burns Flat for very many years? I have a brother and 2 sisters that are the age of your children. They might have went to school together years ago.
Hi Peggy. My name is Caroline. I am from Sayre. That is so cool that you are from Burns Flat. Congrats on the pounds lost. I hope your Husband continues to feel better.
