Welcome to the Group
1. History with weight loss:
2. History with Calorie Count:
3. Reason for joining this group:
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests:
And now just go ahead and make that first post!
My name is Crystal. I am 33 years old with a hubby and 4 year old daughter. We have 3 Great Danes: Maggie, Shilo, and Trego. They are absolutely great! We live in Kansas. I work in a hospital and my hubby drives a truck. I just joined calorie counter. I have always struggled with my weight and have several health conditions that make it harder for me to loose the weight as well. I continue trying even though it is hard as hell. I need to loose weight for my health and my own self esteem. I don't have alot of personal support. I have more antagonizing than anything. I am starting with small short goals. My first goal is to loose about 30 pounds my June... just in time for boating season. hehe. My fingers are crossed, dieting, my "new life" education is on, and the exercising (as much as I can do physically) is on...
Hi my husband and I live in rural Missouri and we have two children and 3 furry children. One Aussie mix (he is 8) and two puppies a Dachshund ( almost a year) and a Coton (small white fluffy dog) who is 10 weeks old. My goal is to be a healthy Mom for my kids.
Hi, I've just recently started back up with cc and hope to lose about 30ish (give or take 10) pounds before my anniversary in June. I've never "really" dieted but now that I'm about 50lbs overweight I'm gonna do my best to drop it the healthy way.
I'm married but don't have any kids yet so my dogs are my kids. I've got a toy fox terrier who's turning 6 on Valentine's Day and a basset hound who turned 9 yesterday. Needless to say I LOVE my pups!
: )
Hi, my name is Paulette. I have just started with Calorie Count, mainly because I want to lose weight and a group of people at work and I joined a 'Biggest Loser' internal-to-the-company competition. I have 7 grandchildren and 3 dogs (2 schnoodles, Augie and Sam, and a schnauzer, Gracie).
My name is Tina. I am 51, a school teacher of 15 years, a wife, a mother, and a grandmother. I have battled my weight since 1983---lost 65lbs in 1992-1994---165 to 119---I had gone back to college, got divorced and went dancing 4 nights a week. Then I had two drastic surgeries in 1994 and my mother died in 1999---and I watch my weight creep up to 192 over a period of the last 10 years. I have tried many diets, etc---but "stress" and just not taking care of me has led to this. I started working toward losing before Xmas---I am now at 179...my goal is 130 by September 30---my 52nd birthday.
My husband of 15 years has told me in the last week that he is unhappy and suffering from a mid-life crisis and I am not sure where this is headed. I am very sad and hurt but trying to take life one day at a time and concentrate on being the best "me" I can be considering the pain and uncertainity. I need all of the support and friends I can get at this point in my life.
I have four dogs (baby children)---an English Bulldog (Muffin). a long-haired Bassett (Lucy)---she is the drama queen, a white American Spitz (Max) and my new baby is a Great Pyrenees named Cowboy.
Thanks for listening and I need friends to join my page. You can contact me at penneyt@whitehouseisd.org or www.myspace.com/Lucy57
Sincerely with HOPE!
Tina Marie
My name is Missy. I am 30, married and have 3 dogs and a cat. They are my furry kids. My 3 Rots are from the same litter. We lost their mother Aug. 25 2008 to bone cancer. She was our life. She was a diva that only wanted to be glued to us. My 3 babies are more independent which kills me.
I have painted cars for the last 10 years. I lost my job in December and now I am considering a career change. My weight was climbing before I lost my job but now it is climbing faster. I am 5'7'' and 167lbs. My lowest was 130 in may of 07 and my highest was 185 in Jan of 07. I would be happy between 140 and 150 as long as I am working out and everything is tight. I don't care about the numbers as much as how I feel. Right now my 167 feels worse than my 185 ever did, which doesn't make sense. I have no excuse not to be in shape. I don't have a job and 3 dogs that would let me run around the back yard with them. I am not good at setting goals because I don't know what is reasonable and whats not. I just know that something has to happen and it has to happen now and I am the only one who can make it happen. My husband is skinny and wants to help but he doesn't like to exercise because he is scared he will lose a pound. He kills me...lol.
Hi, I am Brenda, age 45, living in Indiana. Have been a CC member for 2 years. Have been away the past few months and gained but back on track again and using the food logs. I had a dog, Benson, a golden. He is 7 years old now and living with some friends who took him in when I was sick. I still get to see him about once a month and take him for a walk. I had dogs as a child but then went 20 years as an adult with cats only. Got Benson 7 years ago and quickly became a dog (and cat) person!! I am currently living with a friend so can't have a dog but in a year or two I hope to have my own place and get a dog again. I am partial to goldens though I had other breeds growing up (Border collie, English Bull dog, terrier mix, Irish setter mix). I love dogs. The relationship is one of a kind. They are much more exasperating than cats but make up for with their unconditional love!!
Hi I'm Roberta. I also lost my job in Jan 08. I was in banking for 25+ years. It worked well with raising kids and having a self employed husband. However when I lost my job I wanted to do something I love. So at 51 I went to school for dog grooming (of which was a hobby for me anyway) and now have a mobile pet grooming business. Because it's new a had an OK year in 08. Now in 09 things are looking brighter. Whats even better is I finally LOVE what I do. My customers give me licks and love while I'm grooming them. And I get to set my own hours. With my family number one in my life (four grand kids) this has worked out super!! I have two dogs, a Yorkie and a Maltese, two cats and a salt water fish tank.
Missystill, maybe you loved what you did but if not you might want to think about a career change that involves animals. Just a thought.
I've been with CC about 3+ weeks. I love it. I'm a past WW but in order to cut back money wise I went looking on line and found this site. I've lost 8 lbs so far.
Thanks for having this group. I enjoy animal loving people very much.
It is a real possibility. I worked for a dog groomer/ kennel in high school and I loved it. It was my first experience with pure blood dogs. They had westies and I always wondered how people could have 5 of the same dog and know which one was which. After a month I knew them by their bark. I have to laugh now, how can you not tell the difference in your furry kids....lol. Hope your business turns out to be exactly what you want it to be.:)
Thank you so much. It makes me smile and enjoy the day like nothing I've ever done before. I'm very happy to find a group with the same interest I have. Hope you all have a dog-gone-good day!
Hey Everyone,
So this is my first week on CC. I started using it just for the food log but am starting to get pretty interested in all these groups! So about me real quick:
27/M, 5'10, 195lbs, Goal Weight 175 lbs, increased running to cut fat, continued weight training, Goal Date is June 30th.
Now for the best part...my dog! I have a soon-to-be four year old Australlian Cattle Dog (i.e. Kelpie or Aussie) named Mikey. He is the best dog I have ever had. Seriously...he is so smart, loving, energetic, kind, etc etc...the list could go on! Basically, he is the man. He was adopted from an amazing rescue league in South Carolina. Linda, if by any chance you read this...you guys are awesome!! So if you have questions on adoption please let me know.
I am from New England where Lyme is very high. Mikey testing positive last year but his levels were so low this year that he didn't even show up positive. However, he did test slightly positive for anaplasmosis which he is currently being treated for.
I have a great vet and have learned a lot. So if you have any questions or concerns about New England dogs or adoption please ask away!!
Hi
My name is Julie or JC for short, and this is my first day on CC. I intended to use this site for counting calories and monitoring my weight only, but having discovered this group I couldn't resist joining in!
I am a seriously overweight person finally determined to do something about it once and for all. Ofcourse it's not the first time. I am 42 and seem to have spent the whole of my life either losing or (more often) gaining weight. I just want to be normal!!!!
Anyway that apart, I am a massive dog lover. I have two in my life just now. A feisty little Patterdale Terrier named Cassie and a Boerboel or South African Mastiff named Banquo. Cassie is a rescue dog I've had since she was 5. She's 14 now but still fit as a fiddle, just a little deaf, and Banquo is 4, and a gorgeous, big, soft handsome beast.
I live in Blackpool, Lancashire, England where I run a B&B with my brother. We have seven miles of sandy beach and a fantastic dune system right on our doorstep and the dogs love it. This morning I was up at sunrise walking with them and it was glorious. What better way to start the day?
My name is Meredith (or Merrie) - I live in Oregon & work in public safety - which means I have a sedentary life-style & spend a lot of time sitting on my rump with occasional flurries of frenetic activity when I try to save the world (or at least help someone along the way). I turned 39 in April & suddenly realized "hey, I've spent the first half of my life being fat - do I really want to spend the second half being fat?" Of course not!
I've only been on the CC site since May 15 & joined for the ability to log my food & tally my calories more easily. My goal is to lose the excess baggage by my 40th. I have lost 13 lbs so far but have been sitting at the same weight for several days, which has been frustrating.
Enough about that - let's get to the REAL reason I joined this group - talking about my favorite things in all the world - my fuzzy children! I have two - my "oldest" is a sweet tempered Great Pyrenees/Maremma Shepherd with a stubborn streak (I'm sure she would prefer to call it "independent"). My youngest is a bouncy, active Springer Spaniel/St Bernard - he looks like a black & white St Bernard puppy, even though he is full grown. Both are rescue dogs.
I can't imagine my life without them! I look forward to coming home to be with them at the end of each shift. I have a very close, supportive family - I just don't get to see them every day, nor do they greet me at the door after each shift with smiles on their faces & tails a'wagging (that would just be weird).
The Fuzzies are very excited about me joining CC because it means MORE WALKS for them! (Ok, so they really don't give a hoot that I've joined CC - they just want the walks.)
And JC, you're right - I can't imagine anything more glorious than having a beach right outside the door each morning! How lovely! My hounds would think they were in heaven if we started each morning with a walk on the beach. We're about an hour's drive from the coast, so they do get to go occasionally, but not every day. Walking/running on the beach is tops in their world!
Hello all! I'm Andrea and I've had challenges with my weight and the way I see myself all of my life. I'm a curvy person and it hasn't always sat well with me.
I just recently got engaged and I figured now is the best time for me to work on the things that bother me about the way I look and feel. My plan is to not only lose weight, but tone my big booty so I won't be ashamed to walk on the beach in a bathing suit.
Now, my extra motivation are my two balls of energy! Guinness is 5 year old black lab, and Diego is a German Shepard- Rottweiler who is 2. We've already started bike riding and everyone is loving it! My fiance is riding with me and supports me with whatever I do.
Hey,
I'm Holly, I just recently started with the website a couple weeks ago. I'm trying to get in the habit of visiting everyday to log food and excercise. I'm determined to lose the weight this time, I let it get out of control and now I have 43 lbs to lose.
I just got married about a year ago and I have a 3yrd old German Shephard, Payton, the biggest baby ever that tries to act tough :)
Hi my name is Sarah,
1) I pretty much gave up on weight loss until recently. I never was very active but I like skateing and I have knee prob. so thats hard for me. I also love food and I have the biggest sweet tooth, I also drink way too much soda.
2) I joined cc on july 1 and I never counted caliories before. I looked up the site after seeing a story about weight loss in a issue of family circle. when I joined I weighed 218 I now weigh 213 lbs and by june of next year I would love to weigh 165.
3) I joined this group because I love animals and I have a black lab named brusier, he's getting old, and kinda lazy and chubby but I LOVE him to death. He's sweet, friendy and loves to run around. He's my main exercise takeing him for walks he loves it.
4) I'm from Illinois and I'm about 5'11 and 18. and I have 1 sister (23) and both my parents. I will be attending a community college in the fall.
Hi everyone! I joined CC this year, March 21. I'm a mother of 5, grandmother of 8 and great-grandmother of 2. Everyone calls me Honey or Hon. Even grandkids. Weight loss is not new to me. I've been losing and gaining for over 50 years. I've never been hindered from doing anything but it has finally caught up with me, healthwise.
I love the CC site. Logging every bite is both helpful and eye opening. The friends I've met here are caring and supporting, they make it easier to get healthy.
I joined this group because I have loved animals, especially dogs my whole life. Our dog, Pumpkin, is a mini dachshund. She will be 3 this August and is the love of our lives. (besides, of course, the family, the unfurry ones.) We thought we were too old to raise another dog but she has been an absolute joy from day one.
