1. History with weight loss:
2. History with Calorie Count:
3. Reason for joining this group:
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests:

And now just go ahead and make that first post!
24 Replies (last)

i am going to be the first to introduce my self on a bunch of these!

1. History with weight loss:  was active as a kid (judo from 6-16 yrs old), gained weight slowly after i quit ( due to knee injury), did ww for a while, arobics... started at the gym w/ a friend 3 summers ago, back to judo with daughter 2 summers ago,  knee surgery, started counting calories jan 08 ( had peaked at the site previously)  seriously back to judo this spring and summer.  Highest weight: 182, current weight:137, competitive weight as a teen:125-130, CC goal:119.5 ( i can't even imagine.)

2. History with Calorie Count: Kind of already covered that.  i don't always read ahead.  started counting this jan.  love it.  go through dependancy cycles with it.

3. Reason for joining this group: well, CC probably suggested this because based on my calorie coach ( and the last weight i actually logged) it thinks that will be where i am.   I do have a November/ October ish goal though... i want to be at a competitive weight for judo by the October tournament...  so i took the bait even though i think cc's goal for me of 119.5 is ridiculous, and i haven't logged weight since my lowest.  it was probably a fluke anyway (lowest 134... mostly i have been seeing 137 lately...)

4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests:  Play judo.  one sport girl unfortunately.  Married, 1 daughter, 1 dog, 1 cat, 1 hamster, 1 fish.  well, hamster and fish are technically daughter's. i work for the state.  desk job.

1. History with weight loss:

How about my history with weight gain :) I have never called myself "overweight" until recently. I am 25 and am just now starting to see the effects of my family genes..Boo! It doesn't help much that I am in a super comfy relationship of 3 1/2 years, of which, my boyfriend loves my softness. Anywho...I reached my highest Nov. of 2007 at 166 when I went to the doctors office. I was astonished! I recently went back in July and had lost 7 pounds! So I decided to set my goal for November..my yearly check-up at the doctor's office..and I would LOVE to weigh 140.
2. I have been a member for around a year. I love the new set-up too!!! I have had my down times where I didn't log as much..But now I am getting on track!!
3. I need a little push and people with the same deadline might be able to do that for me. Smile
4. I am a recent graduate with a bachelor's in accounting. Between working my job at a fitness center and waiting tables at Chili's, I am looking to find a job to get my career started. I love reading, working out, and socializing. I have the cutest yorkie ever, named Keo, after my boyfriends home town in Iowa.

Hello

I am 42 and am the mother of three children. My husband and I live very hectic lives and over the last eight years have not taken care of ourselves like we do for our children. During this time I managed to put on 24 pounds bringing my highest weight to 144 during the middle of June 2008. I decided at that time I didn't like the way I looked anymore and that it was really effecting how I was feeling about myself. I decided to join a gym.

About one week after joining the gym I found CC. I started tracking my calories and couldn't believe how much more food I was consuming than I needed. It wasn't that I ate alot of junk, (although I do eat some) it was the size of my portions that were killing me. Even down to my bowl of cereal in the morning. I started measuring everything and it was such an eye opening experience. I have currently lost 14 pounds total (13 since I started CC). I am pretty dedicated about going to the gym at 5 in the morning and working out for an hour. (mostly elliptical machine) I have been managing about 800 to 1000 calorie deficit between what I eat and what I burn.

One thing I really like about CC that I don't see mentioned often is the analysis section of what I am eating. I notice I am not consuming enough calcium. I still haven't done anything about this and I was hoping to hear from others on how they manage to maintain 100% of daily allowances.

I have been doing this on my own but I work in a school system and with the upcoming school year upon me, I am nervous that I will become less effortful with my exercise. My goal weight is 120 (my weight or just a little below eight years ago) and I aim to meet it before Thanksgiving. My biggest fear is that I will go back to bad habits and not take time for exercise.

Hello,

I am 29 years old and strangling with literaly 15 lbs.  I was always on a healthy weight until recently that I have gain about 10 lbs and don't know how to get rid of them.  Everyday I say to myself that I will do good and everyday I eat more than the day before.  I hate my body right now and I am miserable.  All day long I am thinking about what I could or couldn't eat and how much calories each item has and there's nothing i do that makes me not to thing about how fat I am and what I could eat but I always end up eating a lot more than I should and then I get upset and knowing that I already did "bad" for the day I eat even more.  Today I desided to start from the beginning and stop carring so much.  For the first time in about a year that I am on CC I haven't log my calories.  It drives me crazy.

Everybody in my job are carefull lately of their weights and almost everybody have lost weight except me.  I am the only one that have gained and is so obvious.  I hope this forum will help me with the support I need to feel better about myself and start losing.

Thank you.

I was always thin until college. 2 years ago I started college and I weighed 118lbs. I know weight approx. 140lbs. Ahh! I graduated with my AA and decied after seeing my grad pics that I needed to lose a few pounds. I have a full face and I feel that is were all my weight goes! Ha! I started using CC on July 12. I had talked to my doctor about my weight and that for the past year I had been excerising. I have a history of depression so I am not eligilbe for perscription diet pills. He reccamended the site. I just joined this group because I have had a hard time finding friends on this site. I sign those buddy fourms but after a week the messages just end.

HI!!

Nice to meet everyone.  I enjoyed the posts and can RELATE!  My history with weight loss is an ALWAYS!  I'm 45 now and have had to always watch my weight.  during my 20s and 30s I had kept it pretty much in check around 5 - 10lbs but on 5"4' it shows and I don't like the constant worry about it.  I got married for the second time 7 years ago and I looked and felt great at 131.  I have a strong body so that weight worked for me.  So after MARRIAGE and turning 40 and alot of big personal life changes like having to sell our big beautiful home in CA and move to AZ to downsize I started to put on weight and my usual working out and eating right wasn't cutting it.  First I was hanging around 142 then I got to 150! and then... at the college (I'm finally finishing my AA degree and going into the nursing program here)we we're weighing ourselves for the nursing program and infront of a slim 21 year old I got on the scale and it said 156!!!! I went into shock/disbelief and embarassement.  So NOW I just finished doing the lemonade fast(maple syrup, lemon, cayenne) for 10 days and lost 5lbs on that plus I had lost 5lbs previous so now I am at 146 which I want to keep off and get back down to 131.  I am really freaked out about gaining weight especially at my age IT IS A LOT HARDER!  You have to be deligent.  I'm just looking at it as a way of life now and I'm hoping to keep the momentum and structure of CC going as I believe it is a great tool which I have used on and off for the last year or so.  It's the consistency and I know that it's the DOING.  I'm also scared of losing my focus/energy as classes start again next week and I am going to start a new job in a couple of weeks.  That is the real challenge for me when I start getting over worked and stressed.  So back to the questions.  This group looks like a good fit for me as the last 15lbs or so seem to be the toughest as I get complacent and the weight comes off a lot slower.  My goal is to lose a lb a week which is extremely slow but I am hoping it will be a life change to keep it off so I am focusing on the way I live not on the losing the weight part that seems to be less burdensome to me.  I have 2 pugs: Mercedes and Chevy, 1 German Shepherd: Talus, one adopted stray black cat: Notte (night in Italian) 1 husband and 1 daughter 17!! SENIOR I am a very proud mom! :)  Thanks for listening!  I'm looking forward to more great conversations!  LET'S STAY MOTIVATED!!

Hello all.

My name is Raquel i am a graphic designer. I love design. I have a boston terrier named feather. I am in a relationship and think that it is healthy - hard to tell since I am often unhappy with myself. My boyfriend is patient with me through my struggles.

My weight has fluctuated for about 5-10 years. I go in and out of emotional eating - I have learned to cope with it since I first recognized I had a problem. Good days and growing days. I would like to learn healthy eating habits that can last forever and be cured of this at times vicious cycle. I feel like I have been cured but things go wrong in my life and the inhaling of the food begins.

i am 5'2" at 125 pounds. I know that this is not my natural weight - i eat a lot for my small frame and am extremely curvy. I love fashion and feel like I can not embrace it because I am constantly trying to cover up. i have been thin and it feels great - but also makes me uncomfortable and out of my comfort zone and that is when the eating begins

i am tying to branch out and hope that this group will help me reach my goals. i have a sweet tooth as well. i am hoping to learn a balanced way of life.

Hello all!

Well my history with weight lost goes back as far as childhood, but I won't bore you with that. My most significant weight-loss history started with the birth of my daughter who is now 11 years old. I was 140 bp(before pregnancy) and 210 pb(post-birth). I worked hard to reach my pp weight and was successful at keeping it off for 8 years. Then came my son, 141 bp, 196 pb and 137 return. Here's the kicker, I got pregnant soon after, miscarried gained 15 pounds and got pregnant again.

So, here I am again with new tools, calorie count plus and a fitness ministry, and I am a new mother of twins, boy and girl, and am struggling to get back to my 130 pound days. I was 210 pb and am now 154. My goal is 130 for my birthday. My husband is no help. He's not interested in not being a bad influence and my kids don't care. They love me for me.

I joined the group for support, tips, and fellowship with like minded individuals. I'm a stay at home mom working on my weight-loss story and my experiences here would definitely add color. I look forward to hearing wisdom from you all. God bless!

Hi everyone, it's great to read others stories - very motiviating.  I'm 32 with 2 children. I have never had a weight issue but since having my beaulitful children, I haven't lost the weight I gain during my pregancnies which were close togther.  I am really enjoying using the calorie counter. I didn't realise how many calories I was eating - yuk.  My husband gave me an incentive about 2 months ago - telling me I could go to Bali with my girlfriends in November so I decided I needed to get into shape - and no round isn't the shape I mean - and fit back into my bikini i bought pre kids.  So far I have lost about 8 kg and have another 8 to go. I hope I make it or get close to my goal. I joined the gym but find it really hard to get there with work and the children. What excerise do you do. Please let me know.  I love teams sports and currently play netball twice a week.  Thanks for your stories

Hi everyone :)

My name is Alex.  I used to be a dancer (my whole life).  I stopped dancing roughly 2 years ago and have since been working for the government (a normal 9-6 schedule).  My job is exponentially more sedentary than dancing all day.  I am 23 years old and I feel completely repressed by my almost 50lb weight gain.  I have always had a small frame and a J-lo booty.  I want to get back to 115 lbs before November 18th.  I am currently 139 and work out once a week.

My goal is to lay off sugars and fat and go to the gym at LEAST twice a week.  When I do go to the gym, I usually end up burning off 300+ calories walking on a 5 incline and at 4.0 speed (treadmill) for at least 15 min.  I also hop on the stationary bike as a warm-up for at least 10 min.  I worked with a trainer once and got a work out plan involving upper body toning and strengthening.  It involved 5 machines and 3 rep sets (of 10) on each machine.  The core of the work-out is centralized around speed circuit training.  Really wears you out if you aren't used to using those muscles all the time.

I got a complete wake-up call that I was out of shape when I started to notice I was developing stretch marks.  I had noted that my clothes had stopped fitting and I gained 2 cup sizes (I am currently a 34C- used to be an A!).  The stretch marks though were devastating to me.  It was something I never thought I would have to cope with, and all due to my own negligence.  Hopefully this site in conjunction with a change of attitude will help me reach the goal I so desperately want...

Hello,

I've never been on an official diet before I've always been a good weight but this summer I've gained 10 lbs and I'm 44 years old so I can't let this trend continue.  Therefore I've decided to try something I've never done before an official diet with actual recording.

So far so good it's been only three days. I like knowing exacting what I've eaten and how many calories I'm sure the visiual charts will be nice also. Let's see how long I can last.  I need to take it one day at a time.

I'll keep you posted.

DP

Howdy! I'm Jessica, and other than keeping track of my weight, I'm really no good at updating my stats on this website, but I am keeping mental and paper track of my calorie intake and I try to eat fairly well (limiting the sweets and carbs unless my body has a legitimate reason for requiring those things).

1. My history is this: always had a BMI of 25.5% or more for my age group, always the girl who gets included in group photos not because she's obese, but just overweight enough to make everyone else look better. Right before this summer I hit my highest weight ever: 150 pounds (I'm 5'3, just turned 18, and by my name I guess you can deduce that I'm female). Then over the summer I went on an extreme 2 month road trip, which took off all the extra pounds I'd put on in senior year, and more. I came back at 138. Since then I've lost and gained and lost again, and right now my plateau seems to be at 136 pounds. I'm looking to someday become 120 pounds, but realistically I think 125 is possible if I keep up good lifestyle changes: not overworking myself with too much physical exercise (which has backfired on me more than once now), and eating more consistently. Health wise I'm good, I just have to be careful with the amount of cookies and sweets and pizza that are at college. I mostly go vegetarian with my college cuisine. It's good. :)

2. History with this site? I joined because I wanted a place to track the gains and losses, so I could learn more about myself and read about others like me. So far, I've gotten all I've wanted out of this website, and thus, I enjoy it!

3. I joined this group because my modified weight goal says  can make it by Nov. 17th, if I stay steady and lose a pound a week. I don't think this is unreasonable; I've hit 131 already, so I think it's completely possible. My real moment of excitement will be when I'm in the 20's; I can't wait to see that kind of number!

4. I'm a college student, first time freshman, my dad's a major outdoorsman carved from muscle and steel, and my birthmother's an obese woman who doesn't work and has horrible social skills. It's a strange balance inside me, biologically. :) I come from my Dad's side, and needless to say, I have nothing to do with my mother. She's not a good woman anyway. No pets, and my interests are succeeding in college and getting great grades so I can prepare myself to be whatever I want to be!

It's so funny you should say your breast grew.  I'm 44 the mother of 4 and never had boobs, now I'm the heaviest I've ever been and here they are.  All my life I've waited during pregnancy, after birth, etc all I needed to do was gain weight.

So here I am trying to lose the weight and probably the boobs.

They always say watch what  you wish for.Smile

Hi.  My name is Kelly, and this is my second day on this website.

1.  My history is not too interesting.  I have been called skinny all my life until about the age of 20.  At that time I became "healthy" at a weight of 145-150ish (I credit this to converting from a vegitarian to a meat-eater).  I moved to Los Angeles about two years ago after separating from the military and since then my regular workout schedule has dwindled down to non-existance.  I have gained +/- 20lbs and I'm now at my heaviest weight of 166.  I am very upset that my clothes don't fit anymore and I find myself uncomfortable as I have never experienced.  Suddenly, I even hate shopping for new clothes.  This is my first EVER attempt at losing weight.

2.  Calorie count history: 2 days...

3.  Reason for joining:  I want to make a commitment and find motivation in seeing results, peer support, and myself.  I want to be happy with my body once again... I don't care how other people percieve me, I just want to be comfortable again, feel sexy again, and feel the confidence that I once knew!

Thanks to everyone for helping.  And thanks for letting me know there are lots of people out there like me!

This is my first serious effort at weight loss.  I haven't really ever counted calories.  I'm joining this group to get insight into why what I'm doing is or is not working.

1. History with weight loss: Ugh  up and down for the last 10 years
2. History with Calorie Count: my first Consistent time which is now
3. Reason for joining this group: Support
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I am a nurse working in an Early Head Start program Studying to become a lactation consultant I also am a warm line responder kind of like a Crisis line but more of a listener on the phone, and if a Crisis arises I call in the troops. I also need to be down to 175 by November 25th or Dr will put me on Cholesterol Meds  it was high 235, so here I am I weigh 195 and am trying to burn 400 or more calories a day with excercise.I am also on a 1200 cal 180 carb a day diet from my DR.  Thanks Chri

1. History with weight loss:  I have had varying levels of success with weight loss.  I was overweight a 8 years ago, and was successful in losing 40lbs, following the Body for Life program.  I even kept it off for 2 years, until i got married, then my diet changed a bit, because i was not doing the grocery shopping anymore, or whatever.   Now I am in need of losing about 50lbs and have found it much more difficult because I work long hours, commute 2.5 hours a day, and then have other responsibilities.  But i am going to try again.

2. History with Calorie Count:  I have been using calorie count on and off for about 9 months. I find it very useful, when i use it, because it makes me very cognizant of how much i am eating.

3. Reason for joining this group: I am trying to lose 15lbs before my wife and I go to South Carolina for Thanksgiving.  I feel like this is a reasonable goal and that after i achieve this goal, I will be able to make another similar goal, and thus whittle away my weight, instead of making some huge goal, that will take longer than my attention span can manage.

4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests:  I am 35 years of age, and work as a  Software Developer in Indianapolis, IN. I have a Wife and 3 German Shepherd Dogs. I enjoy cycling and soccer, but have not enough time for either on a regular basis.  My Ultimate goal is to get down to 180 before cycling season next year, so that I can begin training for my first Century ride.

Hi Everyone. This is my first week using the website so I am fairly new at this.

1. My history with weight loss: Well, I have always been very satisfied with my weight until very recently. I am 20 years old and a college athlete. I guess i just figured that since I was an athlete I could eat anything and everything. Now I am paying for it because I no longer fit into pants and am the heaviest I have ever been. So now I am on a mission to lose 15 pounds. I must lose the weight before I go home for Thanksgiving.

2. Calorie Count History: 1 week. I am shocked at how oblivious I was to the amount of calories in some of the things I eat daily.

3. Reason for joining: I have to lose the weight before I return home for Thanksgiving.

4. As I stated before, I am a college student majoring in Healthcare Policy. I  have no pets and am a vegetarian. Looking forward to getting back into my old clothes!

Hi,

I know I am a little late for intro's, but I do want to meet my Goal by Mid- November.

I started my weight loss journey in July of this year at 162.9 lbs, as of today I am at 148.9 lbs (14 lbs and 3% fat down).  It has been a little slow, but I am back on track after a month of weekend binges.  My ideal weight is 138lb, which should land me some where at about 22% body fat.

I was always the big girl, even though I'm only 5'5". I never carried a lot of fat, but with playing sports I bulked up.  I have the ideal guys body ;-).  I have found that swimming has helped me to trim down, without bulking up.  Which I love. I always used to run to stay in shape so swimming is a nice change.

I want to loose weight to get healthy. I have been nursing injuries for the last few years and have gained about 20lbs in the process.  The added weight doens't help the injuries nor my mood, so I figured it was time to end the pity party and step up.

I have been loosing the weight, by eating healthy, tracking my calories, and being active almost every day.
