Hello, my name is Monika.  I am new to Calorie Count but am hoping that it will help me succeed in my weight loss goals.  I am finding that I could use some extra motivation lately.  My day to day life just gets in the way to often.

I have a 14 month old little boy and I am still working on trying to lose some of the pregnancy weight.  He also tends to take up a lot of my time.

Hi, and welcome to Calorie Count!

Apparently there aren't many CCers from Southwest Virginia; I am in the area attending Virginia Tech =).

As far as motivation goes, there are plenty of people here to turn to for support!  I have been CCing for 6 months now and dieting for longer, so all I can tell you is keep with it because it is definitely a change for the better =D.

Hi, my name is Jennifer (Jenn) and I'm new to Calorie Count. I have been battling with weight issues for a while. I've gotten to the point where I know I have to lose the weight. I've tried so many diets in the past but I have to make this change now. I'm 31 years old and I am very unhappy with my life right now. I want to make the changes to my life so that hopefully, I will be able to find love again. I got married very young, and divorced within 2 years of getting married. Unfortunately I have been through some very traumatic experiences also that sent me into a tailspin so to speak and I lost myself along the way. I have been very unhappy with myself for quite a while now and I want it to change. I have two young nieces that I want to be there for, I want to be healthy and be able to do things with them and not feel that my weight is an issue.

I'm hoping CC will help me to finally break this vicious cycle that I have gotten myself into. I know that I will need plenty of support so I hope that this is the right place for that.

Hi, my name is Jennifer and I just registered w/Calorie Count today.  My weight has been an issue since high school.  About 5 years ago I lost 100 pounds on Weight Watchers, but have gained all of it back.  I've been to bariatric specialists and tried the South Beach.

I wanted to join this group because I live in SWVA and would love to know there are ppl nearby who are interested in becoming healthier and can share ideas, successes and frustrations with.

I am 39 years old, a single mom of a teenager, and a full time high school teacher.  I have the coolest cat in the world, love music and can't even imagine living anywhere but the Roanoke Valley.

Hope to hear from a few of you!   Jen

Hey Jennifer, my name is Jennifer as well but I go by Jenn. Welcome to CC. I must admist I haven't been journaling on here in a while because I just recently started a new job and with working out after work I don't have a lot of time to get on here and journal like I should. I just started my journey right before Christmas. I stopped drinking soda cold turkey on December 15th and so far I have not had any soda...YAY GO ME. That was a hard transition for me. I was used to drinking Dr. Pepper throughout the day. Now I drink water and occassionally on the weekends I splurge and I will have ginger ale. It's funny, I have noticed that I associate certain things with Dr. Pepper. For instance, when I have certain foods like pizza, I automatically want my Dr. Pepper. It is starting to get easier now that it has almost been two months but I still have my moments. Since the middle of December I have lost 25lbs. I still have alot left to go though. Luckily my bf is very supportive and for Christmas he bought me a year long membership to the Y. I workout 3-4 times a week for an hour each session. I have gotten up to walking 3+ miles a day when I go there. I feel so much better now that I'm exercising and honestly it has been a great outlet for getting rid of stress in my life. Anything that is bothering me I take it out at the gym.

Well, I hope to hear from you more since you have joined the group. Keep you chin up and know there will be good days and some not so great days but remember what you goal is and make yourself achieve it. One thing I have learned is if you want it bad enough, you can make it happen.

If you don't mind me asking, what part of VA are you from? I am from Halifax County, I'm 31 years old. I hope to hear from you soon. Take care.

Hey Jenn!  That is great that you can give up soda cold turkey.  I still drink them - but diet only.  But I'm like you, certain foods and certain drinks - for me it's popcorn and coke.

I actually joined a pay site about a week ago, then found this one.  Im curious to see which one I will like the best.  Since then - in the last week, I have lost 5 pounds.  Im sure most of it is water weight.

Luckily I have a very supportive boyfriend as well.  He bought us year long memberships to Golds.  We go about 3 times a week. If Im not there, I work out at home.  I have lots of videos and if the weather is nice I can walk.  That's what I did today, put in a mile and a half in about 40 min.

Halifax county?  Isn't that where South Boston is?  I am in Bedford County near Smith Mt. Lake.  I'm 39 years old.  THis year is the big 4-0. Yikes!

Thanks for the reply.  Keep up all the hard work.  Jen

Hi!  You can just call me Mimi.  I've never had a problem with weight loss until after I had my son two years ago.  I was an avid runner and I worked out a lot.  I am new to CC and I have great hope that I will find success and once again get back into shape through the support I aslo hope to get on CC.  I reside very near the VT campus.  Go Hokies! (dare I do that) I have a desk job where I sit from 7am - 5pm.  I have a 40 min **** to and from work.  I am married with a 2yr old son.  I am pretty good about what I eat, when and how much my problem is now that my life is sooo busy, I don't have time to breathe let alone exercise.  I have and do try different methods of working in some exercise when I can, but it's just not enough to make a difference.  I hope to perhaps find few common threads with others in the SW VA area to help and be helped with some weight loss issues and barriers.

Hi, everyone!!!  I just joined CC today!  I went online looking for a way to keep up with my calories and found this site and decided to give it a try.  I currently reside in Troutville which for those of you that my not know it is located in Botetourt County about 30 miles, if that far, North of Roanoke, VA.  I have been married for 9 years and have two beautiful children-boy age 8 3/4 and girl age 7 1/2.  I have always struggled with my weight but it seems that all I do now is gain weight which I am tired of doing because I am tired of being miserable.  I would like to loose 100lbs. and am going to try my best to do so but I will be happy at loosing down to what I was when I graduated before I had children which is about 70lbs less.  I have done several diets in the past and had some results but I gave up due to lack of willpower so I am going to try and stick with just watching what I eat and getting my big butt and doing something to help shed the pounds so wish me luck!!!   and please help me out!!!Embarassed
