Hiya everyone,
I joined this group just for a bit of support and fresh ideas to help me along. I recently finished my Primary Care Paramedic courses and I found that I was the weakest person in my class. I'm looking forward to dropping a bit of fat and gaining some muscle so I don't injure myself at work.
I was doing well going to the gym for about 2 months a while back and once I got into the groove it became easier and easier to go. I ended up going quading with a friend and got in an accident where I bruised my ribcage (doesnt sound that bad but it's very painful) so I could'nt go to the gym for 3 weeks. After that I kind of gave up :(
I live with my sister and her best friend and my house is a horrible mess right now because of it. I havent cooked anything for 1 1/2 months and have been eating out everyday. I try to pick healthier choices at work, but it turns out I HATE salad. I'm also addicted to Sausage McMuffins.
Ok, I've talked your ear off enough :) Have a great day everyone!
Welcome to the group Paramedicgirl. I think your career choice and health choice compliment each other wonderfully.
I am in the same boat as you, I too was going to the gym without fail. I then had an illness that derailed me. Now I need to get back to basics.
Together we can get each other over this hurdle.
Hi everyone, I started out at 144 and got down to 126 which was close to my goal then I gained and am back to 132. I would love to be around 125 but my body is reluctant to give that weight up. I run, bike, swim, lift weights and am generally very active although I am fairly sedentary at work (I am a teacher). I upped my calories this summer so I could compete in some triathlons and other races as I wanted to perform at my best and now I have dropped them again to around 1600. I would love to lose that last 10 and then maintain but the last ten is a real pain in the rear!! Good to meet you guys!
Hi there!
Thanks for organizing this group ismile67!
I'm 5.0" and right now at 117lb. I've been dealing with weight issues for a long time. Sadly I have not been working out due to injuries and work-overload. I joined this group because I do need to motivation to continue using CC. also, I can't wait to go back to the gym and drop those extra-lbs. Good luck to all of you.
Hey everyone! It is nice to see everyone wanting to help each other out.
I have started by making sure I log my calories every day without fail. I have made it one week so far. Baby steps.
My next goal is to get back into the gym. I hope to make it soon. Right now I am walking and doing home exercises.
I have more than 10 pounds to lose but plan on doing in stages.
Lets have fun doing it!
Hey guys!
I find it very intimidating to go to the gym. I have social anxiety problems and it makes me very uncomfortable to do physically demanding things infront of other people. It probably doesnt help that there are all these gorgeous people at the gym... Anyone else have this problem or have any ideas what I can do? It helps if I go with a friend but no one else is interested except my one friend but she works and has two children and no time to come with me.
The best gym we found is a small circuit training gym. We (my husband, daughter and I) are all members of Ray Wilson Fitness Center. It is large enough to have enough machines, but small enough that to be a serious place. This is definately not a pick up gym life 24 Hour Fitness and the like.
Check to see if you have this chain in your area. I bet you would like it.
Hi there everyone!!!
I am a competetive swimmer and I am 14/ 5foot 6....I weigh 143....most of my body is muscle mass from all the swimming and dry land training...now that its summer I have a break and ive been eating non stop!!! I recently decided that I should join this group and loose weight fast!!!! my average weight last year was about 135-137 so I need to go back down to at least my old average weight...I mostly have muffin fat tops the rest of my body is pretty toned...im just having a lot of trouble getting rid of it it really sucks because its hard to cover it from jeans if you know what I mean I have a gym downstairs and I recently lost 600 cal from being on the treadmill for 30 min....I also did some weightlifting but it was not too heavy for I have tendonitis on both shoulders its great to see that there a lot of people willing to help! good luck guys!
Hello everyone!
I have just started jogging this summer. I do not have a scale, but at a doctor's visit I found out I weigh 140 lbs.... which is the same weight I was in February. I have been making healthy choices and jogging for two months now, so I was surprised that number was the same. One thing I will say though, is that I could not fit (I mean not even over my hips) in some of my old summer clothes, but now they fit perfectly. So, something is shifting. :) I do want to get back to 130, and I need help with that. I really want to lose that belly fat, and I am not sure what the secret is to that...
I am mom of three, and I will be going back to work full-time at a school in September. I also just starting going back to school full-time at night this week for my degree. I am very busy with carpools and studying, so my jogging moved to 5:45 am this week. :( I need motivation!!!!
Hi there! I'm Emily, 15, and roughly 5'6". I go to a boarding school with pretty bad food. (typical!) My freshman year, I lost fifteen pounds (putting me at 105 lbs) and when I returned home, I began eating three meals, rather than skipping like I did when the food sucked at school. I gained back all of the weight, plus more, landing me at 127 lbs. I had hardly any muscle and almost all physical activities were pretty hard for me.
I decided I needed a change, so I started CC a few weeks ago. I've been pretty good at logging in my food/exercise so far and I hope I don't jinx it. My goal is pretty simple: get fit. I play field hockey so I don't want to die during practice, haha. :] I'm hoping to get back down to 115-118 lbs sometime in September. I'm also trying to do at least 60 minutes of exercise a day to help my journey.
Hey Everyone!
I'm 25 years old and always had about 10 lbs more than I wanted. This time, I want to lose them for good. I'm 5"4 and 130lbs and would like to be 122lbs. I already lost a couple of pounds but find that due to my life style (I'm single and like to go out on week-ends), I tend to eat out a lot! I find it a long process to lose those 10 lbs especially since I've always had a bad case of emotional eating habit. Hopefully, this website will help me change my eating habits!
Ciao,
Sabrina
Hello!
I'm 17 years old (almost 18), 5'5 and probably around 125 pounds (I'm still a little afraid to step on the scale), and I've been struggling with my weight ever since middle school. I used to be a really thin kid, and even now I have a really small frame; my arms are still really thin and if I'm wearing a dress I look pretty slender-- but my problem is my hips and butt area. I can't wear pants without looking like a pear, and I've always wanted to do something about it. I could never find the time because I'm such a studious person... if reading and writing was like taking a jog, I'd be loosing weight like a maniac!
I just joined calorie count yesterday as added motivation. Throughout the past 3 years, my weight has been going up and down because I can't seem to get in the habit of going to the gym-- after about a month my attendance wavers. The fact that I'm an emotional eater doesn't help either :/
I'm joining this group of motivation!! :)
Hi everyone,
Some of your stories sound very similar to mine...I am 5'4" and have hovered between 126 and 132 for a few years. I'm fairly active but go through slumps where I don't go to the gym for a few weeks b/c I get busy or travel a lot. I've always been a runner and love doing that in the mornings about 3X a week. I have used Calorie Count on and off for a few years and when I make the effort to enter my food and activities it does make a difference and I'm more aware of what I'm putting in my mouth! I believe I am an overeater b/c many times I'm aware I am eating for no reason, but can't stop. If it's in front of me, I'll eat it!
I would really love to break the 125 mark and am really curious at what I'd look like at 120lbs! Earlier this summer I started working out with a trainer and got great results, down to 126 with nice toned muscles, but then my sessions ended and I went to the gym less and...well I crept back up to 130 and it's crazy how fast you can go downhill. These 5 lbs are killing me! The first place I see it is in my stomach and I'd really like to enjoy the last few weeks of summer and feel confident in my bathing suit...unfortunately living in a big city I eat out a lot and also go out a lot/drink (several times per week) so it's hard to stay on track.
I made a super ambitious goal of 120lbs and want to see how that goes. I think if I really put my mind to it, I could reach it...just need the extra motivation!! Good luck everyone with your own goals...
-Karen
Hello all,
Well I pretty much started putting on weight which was new for me when I got out of high school and went to college. I've always been thin so at first gaining a few pounds wasn't anything but over the last ten years I've been putting on a couple of pounds every few years. In that time I've gone up some pant sizes and after tossing some high school pants that are out of style and that I cannot fool myself into thinking I'd fit in again I decided to work on losing some weight again.
I made half efforts mostly to exercise more without changing my diet over the years and not had any results and a few months ago tried monitoring/counting my calories on a pay site. It didn't help that I really only managed to keep at it one time but somewhere between changing jobs I slacked off and then just quit working out regularly.
I joined the group to see what ideas/hints etc I might be able to get from others in a similar situation.
My interests are all over the place, cars, movies, music, paintball, electronics, reading/writing stories making/building/fixing things.
Hi everyone,
I have always maintained my weight at around 104kg (229pounds) for rugby; which is our religion here in New Zealand. But just over a month ago a friend of mine challenged me to a diet and since i have never actually been on one before I decided to test myself; basically because diet stories has always been very fascinating to me. Furthermore, I wanted to see the strength of my mind and body.
In 29 days i lost 12kgs! i was 104kgs(229lbs) and now im 92kgs (202lbs). I plan to get to 85kgs (187lbs) by October 5th. I never really counted calories but rather just stuck to a diet plan and regular exercise. Now thanks to caloriecount i am able to know exactly how many calories I need to consume a day in order to reach my target.
I joined this group because I am interested in the various ways other people go about burning calories and losing weight and to maybe help out.
I am 23yrs old, 6'3 in height and I am a graduate tax lawyer for Deloitte (one of two laywers in the tax department). I love exercising, movies, family and going out with friends now and then.
oh the pic isnt me (obviously its usain bolt, but i will post one up soon)
cheers
Hey all,
I joined CC on July 27th and have been trying to lose 7KG, only dropped 1KG over the past month, which sucks!
I do not appear to be overweight but my BMI shows it. Plus, I am getting married in December, and already bought my dress when I was 2 KG lighter. I also bought it perfectly fitted with the idea that I want to drop to 63KG by the wedding. (I now weight 69KG). Point is, my dress isn't zipping up, and it's frustrating me. I have altered the way I eat, (I am eating more than 500calories less than what I used to); however, still haven't started any major exercising. My problem is that we are renovating an apartment we just bought and planning for the wedding and honeymoon. I also work 9 hours on 6 days a week. So I am hardly finding any time to even scratch my head. It's hard enough just trying to get a good meal in.
I finally decided to join groups because maybe I will get more motivated. I am losing motivation just looking at the graphical trend of my weight loss/gain over the last month. It's pathetic losing only 1KG in a month. As far as I know I should have lost at least 2KG by now.
Anyway, as for me, I work... as I already mentioned. I am handling the Hotels and Restaurants Supplies Division of the family business. Been engaged since last December. My fiance just got me a pet puppy, which I am absolutely in love with. In general, I love to travel, I just haven't been finding much time to do that lately. I can't wait till January when I am married, settled in my new home and getting back to a specific routine. I am stressed out like crazy, and my face is breaking out as a result of that.
Well, any advice, tips, motivational speaches are all welcome. I just need to lose the weight.

Hi, i joined today (Aug 27) for the third time. this time i have to be serious. im 22 years old, and i am 5'7" and 140 lbs which puts me at a bmi of around 21: completely within the healthy range. unfortunately, my doctor has told me that i have to lose about 10lbs because i have gained 20 in a year. furthermore, i have gone through two horrible bouts of gastro enteritis which has left me intestines and stomach bereft of helpful bacteria. finally, my doctor is suspicious that my love affair with junk food is to thank for my exhaustion and depression.
i have tried dieting several times. i have done weight watchers (lost 25 lbs and was within a dangerously underweight bmi range), Body For Life (lost 15lbs before putting my body into shock when my blood pressure dropped significantly), and most recently P90X which is inhumanly difficult to stick to...i last 5 weeks and the only real difference i had noticed was that my flexibility was definitely improved.
I have been working in the service industry as a hostess, server and bartender for the last 7 years and have just received my education degree. now that i have quit my job at the restaurant i am hoping that i can start taking this healthier lifestyle a little more seriously.
i find that my biggest problem is that food is my only real vice. i dont smoke, drink, do drugs or indulge in any other unhealthy pastime. i reward myself with food and when im sad, it's a comfort for me. i actually cannot picture my life without delicious fatty food in it. healthy food makes me cringe lol.
anyone who has any advice for me to help me with my willpower, which is horrible, or with suggestions about how to deal with sugar addiction please let me know. in exchange, anyone with questions about the three diets that i have used should feel free to ask me, i will answer any questions that i can with as much honesty as possible.

Hi, my name is Heather, I've been a weight roller coaster through my life but usually within a 15 - 20 pound range. I have about 6 pounds to go to meet my goal and the rollercoaster has flattened out. I joined Calorie count because I started educating myself about my food choices and calories. I think Calorie Count is a great tool and has helped me also look at protien, vitamin and mineral intake, exercise and all of the components that go into healthy weight loss and maintaining a good healthy weight. I have been successfully withing 5 to 10 pounds from my goal for the past 6 months. I joined this group because my profile matched it, and my friend who recently joined CC was telling me about groups and the support and common threads that are found among members of the groups she joined.
I have a sedentary office job but go to the gym before work and try to be active on the weekends. I live alone but have a BF who is very healthy and has been a good support. I have a cat named Marcus and am also going back to school to pursue business administration.
Hi, my name is Amy and I've never really had a weight problem, but the last few years (I just turned 46) it has been slowly creeping up. At 135 lbs, I decided it was time for a change. And not only because of the weight, but I've also realized it's time to eat healthier. Up until recently, I could eat chocolate, ice cream, etc., and not have a problem, but now I'm sure those are the things that have made the scale inch upwards. I've also noticed that my stomach can't handle those types of foods anymore, along with fatty foods. I started with CC a month ago, and am down to 129 and feeling much better. I'd like to get back to 125, and stay around there, but I'm already a little worried about maintaining once I reach my goal. I guess I'll cross that bridge when I get there.... I have noticed that I really think about what I put in my mouth now that I know I'm going to log whatever I eat, so it has really helped being a member. I've tried a few times before to eat healthier, but it would only last a few days, so this is a really good thing for me!
I am Stacey and other than a small tire in the wrong place I am quite OK with my wieght. I would like to tone up and get a bit healthier so here I am. Any advice you have would be great.
