Hi everyone.

I want to lose 16 pounds by December 25. Is anyone interested in being my "buddy" - as in, we'd be accountable to each other, send mail to each other's boxes, get advice, etc.?  I'll take any buddy.  :)  But, it might be best if it was a buddy with kids as the whole mom thing seems to be much of my issue (as in, I always have to prepare 3 meals a day plus snacks, spend far more time in the kitchen and around food than I ever thought I would and certainly than I ever wanted to, limited choices about alternatives to eating (I mean, I can't just leave the house ... ), etc.

1. History with weight loss: I have been "thin" most my life but gained substantial weight with pregnacies. After 2nd and last kid went to Weight Watchers, which I loved, and lost over 40 pounds and have more or less kept it off. I would like to get back to my pre-baby days.

2. History with Calorie Count: signed up today
3. Reason for joining this group: I joined Calorie Count because of a belief I've developed about needing a fresh "gimmick" or plan, or motivation, for weight loss. I loved Weight Watchers but it doesn't "work" for me any more, not because of the program but because of my own sort of blech feeling about the program. I joined this group hoping to find a "buddy."
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: Most of the time I feel there is very little about myself that is interesting. If I had to describe myself with one word it would be "overwhelmed"; I work full time, have two kids ages 6 and 9, and we have moved twice in the last two years. I feel very scattered and like everything I do is sort of half-a$$ed, excuse the language, but that is the best descriptor. I have a good job as a lawyer at a corporation but it is pretty boring and not at all inspiring, and mostly I feel like the job is a means to an end ... I have a "good" "flex" schedule wherein I work from home 2 hours a day and work at work 6 hours a day. That way I can be there when my kids get on and off the bus. I used to not have that schedule and it was bad. But, it seems like it is great for everyone but me - my husband who doesn't have to do drop-off at before-school care/day care anymore; my kids who are at home for breakfast and have mellow mornings ... but I end up hauling all my stuff around, my computer, etc., and it is a very scattered feeling; plus I don't get to go to lunch b/c of the need to get a full 8 hours in. I have to be organized in order to know what work to bring home ... and as you may have noticed from the preceding I am not very organized. Partly my own fault/personality; partly I am a victim of circumstance and a very busy and chaotic life.

Sorry for the catharsis.  :)

I used to have interests and I do still read and play the piano just a little, got a beautiful new piano last spring.

Something interesting/different about me is that I don't watch TV. Now, usually when I say that the person I'm talking with says, "Me neither. I just watch ... [insert weekly program, nightly news, etc.]" But I mean, I don't watch. I do TiVo movies and watch Netflix DVDs while I am on my treadmill/lifting weights. But truly, I have never seen "Lost" or "30 Rock" or whatever else, all these programs I hear about and am utterly clueless about.

Hi! my name is jen. please excuse spelling/punctuation etc as i am always typing with a kid on my lap!

i started at 180 in november 2007, and am down to 150-151. i have been on CC since last december. i got down to 154 in march, and have had a family crisis that caused me to stop losing weight, but i was lucky enough to maintain. things are finally settling down, and i am working on these last 10 lb.

i was 140 pre-kids, so that is my goal. i am vegetarian, and we eat pretty healthy. i buy myself crap food from time to time, but my issue is emotional eating, portion control and beer! i cut out beer 3 weeks ago, and went from 154 to 151.

i am a midwife by trade, but not currently practicing due to my family situation.  I work part time at a local women's clinic. I have an almost 5yo son and a 2yo daughter who was recently diagnosed with Ataxia Telangiectasia (hence the stress and crisis!).  My husband works at a health food store.

I also loosely follow (since april-ish of this year) an eating philosophy that is explained at http://www.fast-5.com some people find it crazy, and it certainly doesn't work for all, but it works for me.

i need to get back into my exercise routine!

Hi! My name is Amber and I just married the love of my life in January 2008. I am at a "healthy" weight but I would like to lose about 10 more pounds by December.

Also we were thinking about starting a family and I want to get my eating habits healthy and clear my body of toxins before we take that next step. Using Calorie Count doesn't just help me count calories but it also holds me accountable to myself so I can see exactly what I"m putting in my body.

Hi everyone!  My name is Kelly, I'm 22 5'2" medium build, 127 lbs down from 134 in May.  This summer I was not disciplined AT ALL.  Now I'm ready to lose this weight once and for all.  I have a GW of 112 by December and an overall GW of 110.

1. History with weight loss:

I got down to 115 lbs in May 2007 for my wedding, then moved to Germany with my husband and gained it ALL back.  I'm ready to lose it and keep it off forever!!

2. History with Calorie Count:

Started in May with inconsistent use (2 weeks on, X weeks off)

3. Reason for joining this group:

I need all the motivation and support I can get!  I really want to lose this weight by Thanksgiving, but December will do!

4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests:

I have my degree in paralegal studies, but it is impossible for me to find a job here.  In the mean time I am a part time nanny while I'm going back to school for a degree in Humanities.  My husband is in the US Air Force and we have two cats, Hobbes and The Phantom of the Opera.  I LOVE being active, jogging, biking, tae bo, walking, swimming.  The challenge for me is getting myself off my butt.  Once I get going I can't stop =)  I also love traveling, music, movies, reading, and blogging.  I have a weight loss blog on Xanga if anyone else is on there.

Hi :)  My name is Audrey.  I'm at a pretty healthy weight right now but would like to loose 10-15 lbs to feel a little better about myself.  I'm 5'7" and medium build.  I've been working on this myself but not very consistently so I need a little help!

1. History with weight loss:  It's a constant battle to stay at my "perfect" weight

2. History with Calorie Count:  Just signed up today :)

3. Reason for joining this group:  To have something to be accountable to.

4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests:  I'm a hairstylist and I have 3 adorable kitties!

Hello. I have been working on getting back down to 145 lbs for about a year now. I have been able to lose 12 lbs already but it seems that the rest just won't go. I just started Calorie Count yesterday and am loving it so far. I joined this group because I am hoping to reach my weight goal by Christmas. I was hoping that this would be the motivation that I needed to keep me going and my hopes up. I enjoy going for walks, riding bike with friends or alone, playing with my animals when I am at my parents house, and playing with my nephews and niece. You would think that since what I like to do is a lot of exercise that I would be in great shape, but I am also a student and spend a lot of my time sitting in class, infront of a computer, or studying. This, and the fact that I love food too much, has caused a problem with getting rid of this extra weight.

1. History with weight loss:  I have struggled with my weight my whole life. SW 135pd at H.S. graduation but started to have kids and from there it was all over. The short shorts, the bathing suit all gone...I'm now at 190pds and can't seen to lost it.  About 2 years ago, I lost 35 pds but as soon as I started putting the carbs back into my diet, BOOM 45pds gained :( and still gaining.  I am at my highest weight ever.

2. History with Calorie Count: I goined CC about a year ago and was on the site maybe twice.  I am very good about going support groups but I never stick to them.  I am serious this time.  I am up for any suggestions....

3. Reason for joining this group:  I am hoping by seeing everyone posting their GW and seeing them reach it will keep me going.  I am a cheerleading coach and we all know cheerleaders are known to be very fit.  The girls I coach are only 6-7 years old but I want to show them that I can be fit and heathly. I want to inspire them.  I have a couple of overweight girls on my squad and I want them to know they can also we fit and healthy too.  They do still have alot of baby fat on them but at 6 or 7 you shouldn't weight 95pds.

4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests:  I am 31 years old, 5'2 and weight 190.5.  I have 2 daughters ages 12 and 4. I am single but have been in the same relationship for 13 years with my girls father. Not sure why we haven't got married yet but I hope when he sees me at my GW, he will be ready cause he will not want to let me go Smile.  I am a medical assistant on my first job and a Transporter on my second job. Yes, I work seven days a week. Alot of my exercise comes from my second job as a Transporter.  I work in a very large hospital and I am required to transport partents from test areas.  It has been calculated that we walk anywhere from 18-20 miles in a average 12 hour work day.  Working seven days a week I really have no time for interest but I would say that my girls and my cheerleading squad is all I think about.  I also have one dog (jack russell).

hey,
the name is Taylor (:

SW: 125
CW: 123
GW: 110

im a whole 5' 4" tall and i wanna lose atleast 10 lbs by december. im not over weight at all and i know that but i really want to shape up my body again. i used to play soccer, field hockey, and run track all year but as a result of very bad joints i have gained weight and lost any body tone i once had. i want my old body back! which means i need to lose about ten lbs. i want to pace myself and not just eat healthier but find a way to work out in some way that wont hurt my knees. i just joined yesterday and hopefully this will help keep me motivated!

Hello Everyone!

I'm new to this group. I just started finding new groups to join. So here goes. I am a 32 old single mama of 2 wonderful boys.

I started my weight gain when I got pregnant with my first child. At that point I was 140 and a size 7. Now I don't want to get back to that really, but I would like to get to 160.

I started CC in 2005 I believe but didn't get a chance to do much because I ended up having my 2nd child. So technically I rejoined in August 2003. I started around 193 and as of today I am at 177. Not to shabby so far I think. I am just happy I am sticking to it so far. I hope to reach my goal around Christmas time.

I joined this group because I was recently tranfered to downtown st.louis for my job.  I work as a paralegal at a firm in one of them huge bank of america buildings. I do like that I have plenty of places to walk to. I have been either walking down around the river and the arch or walking all the way to union station. When I first started working downtown I was 193 and that is the heaviest Ive ever been. I am now 177 so I am less than 20 lbs to be at my goal weight. I want to be 159 before the year ends.

My boys are 3 and 10 in 11 days.  They are certainly a wild couple of kiddos. So I am trying to lose this weight so I can keep up with them. I don't get to do much else other than work and then I have my kids any other time I'm not at work. So I thought coming on here would really help keep me motivated to get that weight off. Okay...enough blabbing for me. Nice to meet you all.

Hi everyone I am new to the group and am hoping to lose 20 lbs. by December.  I gained about 15 lbs during my last pregnancy and would like to lose it before my daughter turns one.  I am currently 5'8" and 150 lbs. and would like to weigh 130 by December.  I think these groups are very helpful as I do not have much motivation myself.

Hi everyone, I'm 28 years old and I'm want to lose 8-10lbs by December.  I workout quite a bit, but I also study alot so the munchees creep up. I am currently 162lbs and would be happy weighing 152, I'm tall 5'8''so that would be plenty thin for ME and my BMI. I thought if I joined a group it would be more motivating, I don't have any friends who are serious about taking care of their health. Everyone says I look fine, but my goal weight is for health reasons, and as I age my metabolism will slow down as well. So I would like to nip this in the bud. I quit smoking a year and a half ago. Now I only drink once a week, so I'm hoping to see more changes as I tweek my diet, and get advice from my newly joined group.

1. History with wight loss: I started the year at 338 lbs on Jan 12th and I'm currently at 240.5lbs.  My goal is by the end of December to be 193lbs because that's what the BMI charts says is normal. I'm still in the Obese Range at 30 BMI.

2. History with Calorie Count: I have been using calorie count for the last year off and on for food information. Just started using the groups.

3. My reason for joining this group: I need to stay motivated to reach my final weight loss goal by December.

4.  I work in front of a computer all day which probably explains a lot of the weight gain. I'm 38 years old and married with 2 young boys and 1 little girl. I'm also a Ex college athlete that stopped working out but kept eating like I did.

Hobbies: Playing with my kids and watching sports with whatever time is left.

I started in August of 2007 at 215 lbs. I now weigh 127 lbs. (small frame, 5' 2"). I weighed around 105 for most of my 30's and into my 40's until I "lost my focus" and allowed stress and other factors to derail me. I am 60 now. I am finally in a healthy range and I'm ready to go all the way and stay there. I do count calories, but in addition to that, I've developed some tricks that work for me to keep my head in the right place.

Started with Calorie Count about a year ago, but was embarrassed to post--and fearful I wouldn't succeed. I'm here to stay motivated and to go into 2009 at my ideal weight.

Hii :)

I'm Tamara.

History with weight loss : I've never really considered loosing weight until this year, when in march i was 136 pounds. this isn't huge, but as a professional dancer, its simply too big. So didn't eat for around six months and dropped to 112 pounds, but my entire life was affected by it and after about six months people started watching what i was eating and sending me off to see a counsellor.

And as a result of their food stalking, i've now gone back up to 125 and i hate it immensly. so my aim is to get back to around 116 pounds, by the 6th of december, but i'm trying to do it the healthy way, because in the middle of my VCE exams (the most important exams in australia- they determine what university course you get into) i can't afford to have no energy and lacking concentration.

So i joined this site.

Sweet. that sums up the next two points.

My hobbies : Dancing and performing, its basically my life. Currently i'm a performer with showtime attractions, where i do character work (well known characters like the scooby doo characters, the banana's in pjama's and variety of other childrens shows) as well as being a dancer for company functions. Once i turn 18, i will be able to host shows as well, meaning getting to sing as well as dancing and acting.

Tell me about yourself, i truly am interested to hear you success and not so successful stories - the past does not matter as long as you're making an attempt to better the future!

xx

I am 38 and have always been average weight. 5'7" so I was able to hide the weight very well. FOr instance, at my best, I am 155-160 and friends jokingly refer to me as a size zero and tell me I need to gain. While I know this is not true, I do agree that I appear much thinner than I weigh. Satisfied with 155, over the past few years I have started eating much more sweets and exercising much less. This equated to a weight gain of over 25 pounds, something I NEVER thought I would reach.  So, reality has set in and I now know I must take this weight thing seriously and that my days of resting fast metabolism are OVER. Hence, I paid $80 and did 2 months of WEIGHT WATCHERS and lost 18 pounds in 2 months. I still have 11 or so to go and these my friends are the toughest EVER. However, I refuse to pay another cent for someone to weigh me when I know I can do this on my own with the power of a thing called the Web. So I am here to party, and motivate and be motivated!!!

Hi, my name is Sonja.  I recently turned 27.  I have 13 lbs to lose and look forward to reaching my goal in time to see my family for the first time in 2 years.  I have made a lot of progress so far.  5 years ago I was 288 lbs and at 5'2", that's a lot!!!

I have 4 jobs and am never bored!  I sell insurance, pour wine for a local tasting, wait tables and bartend at a very cool local sports bar and I help out with whatever job at a restraunt/ inn by my house.  I have a lot of fun with life and enjoy everything that I do.  In my free time I shoot pool in a couple of leagues.

I have a favorite quote to share...

"People often say that motivation doesn't last.  Well, neither does bathing- that's why we recommend it daily."  Zig Ziglar

History with weight loss: I used to be very fat in the past but, in last 2 yrs I reduced myself to 14% bf level. Everything was going well, but the I have to leave home for further studies and I became a victim of "freshie fifteen"...not fifteen though but, my bf level went upto 16%. Now, I am trying to get back on track.

History with CC: Very recently started. At home, I never counted calories because, I prepared my food myself and knew what I was eating. But, in college I have to eat what I am served in mess. So, I have to start counting calories. My metabolism was very fast with 6 meals a day, each with high amount of lean proteins and moderate complex carbs but now, everything seems to be screwed up. Anyways, I have to cope up and still keep moving.

Reason: This dec I'll be going home and want six-packs. I am now going on a crash diet. I know it is unhealthy but, to be in shape till dec, I have to reduce my calories a lot. I do cardio 3 times a day or 2 times a day+weight lifting(I mean olympic-style weightlifting...)

About me: I am a student in IIT Madras, one of the most prestigeous colleges in the world and top college in India. I am studying for my B.Tech. degree. I was once very much interested in modeling and will try if I happen to get a chance. I am 18 yrs old with 62kg spread over a 5' 7" tall figure.

Hello everyone :) Here are my answers..

History with weight loss: Well I had always been very small as a teenager, and in my last year of school I weighed 48kg. After school I started waitressing and maintained a weight of 52kg, but then I got an office job, and since then I have put on 8 kg. This is not exactly a confidence booster to say the least, having put on 12 kgs (about 26 lbs) since school .. I just want to get down to 55kg, I think then I will be happy with how I look.

History with Calorie Count: A friend told me about what amazing success she had with counting calories so I did a google search and this site is the first that came up. I went a bit wayward for a while but I now stick to my calorie allowance and I'm doing the weight loss in 12 weeks exercise program.

Reason for joining this group: I noticed the forum post about monday check ins, and thought it would be a good idea, to actually have to post my progress for everyone to see.

About me: Lol.. what can I say. Im almost 22, a bookkeeper / PA, I was born and live in South Africa, but Im moving to England at the end of the year. Family.. well I dont have much of that :P I do however have a boyfriend who is a huge inspiration as he lost around 50 kgs a while ago; he just decided that enough was enough and started eating salad and exercising like a maniac :P Which I might ad, gave him kidney stones but hell, he lost the weight and is much happier now. And I weigh 60kgs, and am 162 cm / 5'4. An unfortunate pear shape with tiny shoulders, not much on my chest, and a big butt, bit of a tummy and ever growing thighs. lol :)

1. History with weight loss

I've been overweight by some degree since I was a teenager.  I've had Type 1 diabetes since I was 21 (I'm 44 almost 45 now). I've always been active but since January I decided to make a life change.  The only way I've been able to lose weight is by exercizing at least 90 min a day 6x a week (my off day I work out 60 min).  I gave up my car & bike to & from work about 10 miles round trip. A friend & I power walk & do 40 flights of stairs at work Monday - Friday. I eat sensibly, but do no deprive myself of anything.  On Jan 11th, I weighed in at 226.50 & am now 177.  I went from a size 16 to a size 10.  The only thing that bothers me is my BMI is 31.4 & accordling I am still considered obese!  I do have a large frame & a large amount of muscle tone.  I mean how can a size 10 be obese?

2. Hostory with Calorie Count

I found calorie count just this past January.  It's helped me alot.

3. Reason for Joining Group

I haven't joined any groups, this is my first one!

4. Intersting things about me

I'm a retired NYC Police Officer living in SW Florida.  I currently work in an Elementary School as a Health Aide.  I have 3 kids (21, 17,16),3 dogs (1 black lab & 2 Golden retrievers) & a husband.

Hi! My name is Anne and I just joined this site yesterday, Nov 18th. I joined this group because I am detrmined to meet my weight loss goal by december 31st, 2008.

I have struggled with my weight all my life and last December 26th I cried when I stepped on the scale. In April of this year I made a commitment to myself and I have lost 41 pounds with the hopes of losing 8-10 more.

I am a Health clerk at a high school and love my job except that it is sedentary. I have two minitaure Dachshunds. Frankie and Jack and a domestic short hair cat, "The Queen."

I love to hike, fish, read, bake, cook, work soduko puzzles, watch college football and write poetry...Thanksgiving is my favorite time of year.
