Hi, I'm 25 years old and I'm an art historian. I was a very, very skinny kid. Since I'm an emotional eater, I tend to gain a lot of weight when I'm miserable. I was pretty down during my last years in college. In 2006 I went to the doctor to check on some gastric problems. I hadn't weighed myself in years; at the appointment the doctor said, "You know weigh 90kg (I guess 200lbs). What to you think of this?" He didn't say anything else, and for the rest of the year I decided to lose weight. I counted calories on my own, started going to the gym and taking daily walks. Now I weigh 59,5kg (around 131lbs?) and I want to get to 55kg (120lbs?) before I go on vacation next February. Oh, I'm 160cm tall (5'3" I guess)
I found this website by acident and I think it's the perfect tool to help geeks on weight loss! I recomended it to a friend, but she hasn't started using it.
Hey I just joined CC today, after trying (and hating) another calorie counting website because it never had the foods I ate. I never cared much about my weight growing up until high school when I lost about 30-40lbs and everyone kept telling me how awesome I looked, SO much better than my fat self before.
I was fat?? That was a revelation to me, and I did my research all through high school to make sure that I never gained that weight back, unfortunately resulting in eating a few nutrient deficient high-calorie foods a day or just a salad or two. Looking back, I realize this was probably an early case of anorexia but thankfully I went to college and gained about 10-15 lbs due to hanging out with people who enjoyed a lot of social eating. Then I met my husband, got married and a year into our marriage realized I wasn't happy gaining weight and set out to exercise at least 5 times a week, which was two years ago in January and I am so glad that I did. I lost the weight, but not as much as I want to... I still have about 10 lbs to go.
I need to work on what I eat because most of what I eat is back to the high-calorie low-nutrient habits of high school. I want to be able to say no to treats, especially chocolate. And I especially want to have my eating habits under control before I start having children, because it scares me to think about gaining weight and not being able to exercise as vigorously as I want to.
I want to lose those 10 lbs by my hubby's birthday, as his bday present. I know it won't be easy because we go out to get dessert way more often than we should but I think it will be worth it! I hope this group helps keep me motivated!

I have been married for 3 years in April, have a cat who thinks hes a dog, am in school to be an Art Teacher and will graduate in April 2009, the same month I hope to run my first half marathon. I love pilates, yoga, running, and working out in general. I love my family, art, politics, cooking and working out.
Hi everyone out there!
I am 35, ran two marathons in two years and was looking very fit at 115 for 5'5"...Then, I stopped running as much but kept eating. I am now at 126 and just started the volumetrics diet. I love to eat. I had two kids in a row and got used to inhaling food. I am now in the process of eating slower and actually enjoying it. Major problems: If it is in my house, I will eat it.....Great if it is veggies and fruit, bad if it is cookies, candy.....
I feel at the moment that I am really at that point to do this and this website is really keeping me on task. It is like a checking acct....O.k. so I ate 1000 calories already - no extra whatever at dinner etc.....
Try Volumetrics....it's really easy...you eat massive amounts of salad, fruits, veggies before eating say dinner so by the time you eat dinner, your tummy has something in it and you eat less of the rice, bread, potato etc.... I have been on it only a short ammount of time but I feel very full and not hungry at all. I also feel like I actually get to eat because I am....
Well um...Hi! i'm a teen who's battled with being overweight basically since i was born. I think i was slightly obese when i was 6-10. And i dont blame my parents or anything. I just think thats the way i was built. or just the way my body works. Now i'm older. In high school. And i realise that i need to take care of my body. And i should start now. And i want to do it the right way. and not do what my friends do and just eat tilll i throw up, or not eat at all. And i know i will never be the skinny one, but all i want to be healthy. Not skinny. Just healthy. yet i find it excrusiatingly frustrating when I am 5' even and i weigh more than my friend who is 5'7.
Well a few things about me...I am horrible at most sports. haha thats just how its always been. But i'm good at dancing, and running. and those are my activities of choice. Mostly because they are one person sports. as far as eathing a calories, i've had a past with emotional eating. Somtimes i just eat cause i'm bored or listening to music. Or reading. Then sometimes i dont eat because i dont have time. Its hard juggling school, work, and everything else in my life. Then put on the aspect of being a overweight teen girl. Lets just say things can be a little stressful.
I joined this group because i want to reach my goal, wieght in febuary. I think its partly because of the dance that comes up that month. And i know that i want to look and FEEL good for that dance. I joined around the christmas season because i realise that this will be the hardest time for me with all of the great, fatty foods outhere. I'm not going to abstane from all of this, but i want to be able to stop myself. and i think its about time i get used to talking about my problem and not just buying bigger jeans or hidding behind sweatshirts. so i guess thats all i really want to say!! O and good luck to all of you outhere. I know its hard right now, but hey since youre on this site, it means your actually trying to change. and thats all you can really do!
Happy Holidays!!
Hi, I'm Adrea. I joined a group in October called "Reaching Your Goal in November 2008" So I'm a little embarassed that it is now almost January and I'm only a couple of pounds closer to my goal. :[ Oh, well, today is a new day. I joined CC in October at 132lbs and now weigh 129.
I'm an 18 college student. I'm 5'4-5'5 I'm not sure, lol. I weigh 129lbs, and my goal is 110-120. If I could get down to 115 by Feb. 30th that would be awesome. But mostly I just want to shoot for making lifestyle changes, rather than being on a "diet."
I joined this group because I find that if I have support it is much easier to stay motivated. :]
Some interesting facts about me: I have a wonderful boyfriend of almost 3 years who I love very much. I enjoy scrapbooking, my favorite movie is The Breakfast Club, my favorite TV Show is The Office, and I'm majoring in Legal Studies minoring in Criminal Justice with hopes to become a lawyer. :]
Thanks for making this group! We can do it!

I'm 19 and currently attending art school in canada... love photography and painting :)
When I graduated highschool I weighed more than I ever had - my guess is somewhere around 180 pounds (im 5'8), though I never weighed myself at my highest weight. I did the self challenge starting at 168 pounds, and finished at 151 pounds, 3 months later. I spent my summer traveling europe, and while I dont know what I weighed while I was there, I dropped at least 5 pounds. Since I have come home I have started university, live on my own, christmas has hit, and I have agained. I have been steady at 156-157 since arriving home back to my scale. I am at the point where i feel it showing that I am gaining - in pictures, the tightness of my pants... My first goal is to lose 5 pounds (weighing what I weighed in june, 151) by february 1st. final goal is to lose 15 pounds in total.
Hi, everyone! My name's Ditte. I just joined CC today! I'm 41 years old. Two years ago, I joined our local gym, got a personal trainer and nutritionist, lost about 20 lbs., and lowered my BMI to about 21. Then, my personal trainer resigned from the gym, I got too busy with work, and, eventually, lost the time to go to the gym even on weekends. I now weigh 15 lbs. heavier since I stopped going to the gym, I feel sluggish, and, basically, fed up with how I look in the mirror.
This new year, I want to lose those extra pounds, maintain the eventual weight loss, and, with this group, keep me focused on my goals and objectives and keep me motivated.
Hey everyone! It was great reading about everyone's history with their weight.
My name is Steph. I'm 21 and I'm 133 pounds looking to be 125 pds in Februrary!
1. History with weight loss: Ever since middle school, I've always been trying to lose weight but I just loved food so much I just ate. I've been dieting a lot, and whenever I reach my goal or close to it, I just eat more afterwards and gain all the weight back. I hope that if I use CC it will help me control what I'm eating.
2. History with Calorie Count: Well, I was just googling how much calories are in a tbsp of light mayo when google sent me here. I decided it couldn't hurt to join!
3. Reason for joining this group: I want to lose weight in time for Reading Week which is in February.
4. Some interesting details about yourself,
such as
your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I'm a vegetarian and I care about the environment and human rights. I'm a student, I live with my family, and we have a family dog named Sparkles. I really want to eat healthier and exercise more, and I hope that CC can provide me with motivation to reach my goal!
And now just go ahead and make that first post!
Hi, I'm very new to CC matter of fact I joined today. I have been dealing with weight since I can remember. I'm definitely a yoyoer. Last year I weighed in about 248 lbs but have been walking almost everyday for the past year and have lost about 20 lbs but have so much more to go. I would like to get down to 160 so I know its not an impossible goal. I'm hoping this forum and CC will give me what I need to keep track of my food and exercise. I appreciate any tips, motivation and postings any one can give. My friend told me about the website and I think its great. I joined this forum because I need the motivation and encouragement from others. I'm single/divorced, 2 grown children, live with my 2 dogs and hoping this is a forum that will help me and hopefully I can help someone out there as well.
Hi, I am not new to weight loss, but new to CC. I am switching from the Nutrisystem tracking site, which I found to be too cumbersome. And I am intrigued by the eat and burn meters on CC (makes me want to do an extra workout late in the evening)
For the past two months, I have been losing weight relying in part on Nutrisystem, Lean Cuisine and Weight Watchers frozen foods as well as my own fruit and vegetable concoctions. I have also been working out a couple of times a week (mainly 3 mile runs, tons of pilates and the Leg Magic 13 minute program; a mini trampoline is on order). Nine pounds are gone so far (could have been more if I had not had that much red wine and champagne during the holiday season).
On Thursday (Jan 22), I will turn 40, and I can say that I am quite pleased with my pear-esque hourglass-shaped body. I am 5'3, weigh 136 and measure 35-26-38. I want to lose a couple more inches, preferably in my hip and thigh area, which I guestimate to translate into about 6 pounds (although I try to gauge myself by measurements, not pounds).
I have quite a few questions, which I will post in the next couple of days (e.g., how much water to drink how long before a workout; or how can it be that my organic low-fat plain yoghurt got a C- rating, etc.) Anyway, it is good to be here and climb Mount Weight Loss with so many inspirational and like-minded people.
How many times a week can I eat tilapia?
There is no limit on tilapia. Certain oily fishes and regional fishes may limited due to their risk of contamination with mercury and other substances... Read more
