And now just go ahead and make that first post!
hey im amanda, 24yr old from new zealand
i found calorie counter the other day whilst trying to find a new way to help loose the last kilos. ive already lost 14kgs through weight watchers but due to the weekly costs was finding it hard to attend. this seems like a great way to keep track of calories and as i work from home can track all day.
i look after kids at home and also enjoy 6 days training a week for triathlons and cycling and running events, i have a half marathon in 5 weeks!!
would like to get to know someone who i can help and who can help me stay on track to my goal!!!
Hi, I'm Meagan. I live in the Detroit Michigan area. I found calorie count months and months ago. I stuck with it for a little while, lost ten pounds and then stopped being so dedicated. Which is when I gained my weight back and then some. This time around I'm trying to be much more conscious of what I eat and how much I work out. We even have a bet going at work to see who can lose the most weight in 2 months.
Good luck to everybody!
Hi. My name is Jackie. I am 36. I am a mother of a 16 month old son and an almost 18 year old step son I have been married for over 13 years. I hace struggled with my weight all my life and have found Calorie Count to be a great tool. I started in November of 07, but found since the holiday's were coming I should wait till after the new year. January 2 came and I started. I lost about 12 pounds in 2 months and then back slid and gained 6 of it back. Started over June 1 and have been relatively faithful ever since. I am a bit lax on the weekends, but have found that if I can at least log my calories, even if I don't stick to my goal, I feel better and am able to watch that sodium. I am joining this group because when I have the time, I love to chat. We should have a weekly weigh in thread so we can post our achievements. My starting weight back on January 1 was 198. I am now at 177.5. I am hoping to reach my goal weight of 135 by next March. I look forward to getting to know everyone here.
1. History with weight loss: My wieght tends to follow school cycles (i lose during first semester, and gain it all back second semester *__*) I want to lose it all forever!!O
2. History with Calorie Count: Have been cc-ing off and on for the past year...
3. Reason for joining this group: seeking some support; feel free to add and message ^^
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: umm... well, i'm looking to gain some self-confidence and independence before college... no idea what I'll study yet, but my interests run to the atristic and macabre ^^;;
Up until I hit my senior year of high school I never had any weight issues--I had always been very active in sports and, while I may not have been the most conscious of what I was putting it into my body, I was always sure to work it all off at my various practices and competitions. Deciding to forgo sports my senior year and work instead should have been accompanied by a shift in eating habits, but that never happened. So, here I am 4 years later with the same eating habits as when I was a very active teenager.
Last summer I decided to do something about it when I was 5'7", 175 lbs, and making my way out of a size 14. I used the weight watchers approach (without attending meetings) and lost 23lbs (152 at my smallest) in a little over 3 months. In exactly a year I managed to put almost all of that back on, to 171.
I had always used CC to look up the nutritional value of foods to keep track of my weight watchers points, but this year when I decided that I needed to lose weight again I thought I would try calorie counting instead of weight watchers.
So, 2 weeks ago I starting being very conscious of my calorie intake (not meticulous--I am fearful of becoming obsessed as I've seen it happen to some of my close friends), and working out fairly regularly. In 2 weeks I've lost 2.5 pounds. I'm losing at a slower rate than with WW, but I keep telling myself that last year I was only dieting and not building up any body mass through muscle development.
I've joined this group to keep myself honest with my March 6th goal to lose a total of 31lbs, for a goal weight of 140--12lbs less than I reached before. I am a full time student with a 17 credit hour semester, my honors thesis proposal, a part time job, and a currently stressful home environment. I'm looking forward to this challenge and hoping that I can keep on track!
Hello, I'm a 32yo mom of 2 kids, and put on about 50 pounds when I quit college/got a desk job. Even worse, I put on some more weight beyond that, slowly, in the past five years of marriage. This past spring I joined CC and have lost about ten pounds. It seems to go so much more slowly than some other members here, but I also do not work out 5 days a week like some of the others I've met (that's envy, not cricitism). So, my "calorie coach" on my home page keeps slipping away from March 2009, and I keep fighting to get it back there. Hopefully checking in with you all from time to time will keep me on track!
Hey there!! I'm Cindi, and here it all is in a nutshell: I'm 42 years old, 5'7", 191 pounds (down 25 so far - YIPPEE), a mom of 2 boys (8 & 11), a wife (13 years), a teacher (12 years - 1st grade for the past 3 years), and currently obsessed with making my goal of 160 pounds by March.
I've lived in sunny Southwest Florida for four years now - transplanted from Northwest Indiana, about 30 minutes from Chicago. I've been your classic yo-yo dieter for the past 24 years. I've lost anywhere from 8 to 34 pounds over a multitude of attempts, but I've never been successful in keeping it off. In fact, I usually put on an extra 10 or 15 just for good measure!! I stumbled across this website and joined CC back in the beginning of July. This website has truly been a Godsend for me!! I am one of those sickos who needs someone to be accountable to or I won't commit. I dropped 15 pounds in the first month like it was nothing, and now I'm averaging a measly 5 pounds a month. I try to get to the gym (or out for a walk) 2 or 3 times a week.
My account page recommended I join this group, so I did!! I hope to find friends here who are fun loving, inspirational, focused, honest and open, motivated, and have a great sense of humor. After all, if we can't laugh about the various phases of this journey, we'd all be crying!!
Hi..I'm myrsadie...yes, it's odd...it's two family names combined.
anyhow..the seasons change and I can't fit into any of my fall/winter clothes..and I'm pretty much retired and can't afford to buy new..so it's time to get seriousm, plus I'm sick of wearing large t-shirts to cover up. So..I'm celebrating another decade by getting healthy..need to lower the cholestral..lose weight..build up some muscle. I started gardening this summer and love it..and have some new muscles in my arms from lugging bags of dirt and mulch to and fro. I was at 164 earlier..but through gardening and a bit of walking am down to 158...according to charts if I am 'good' at eating, exercising, etc. by March I'll reach goal of 131. which would be wonderful..I was there once ... years back through WW....but then a desk job for the past nine years did me in..that, and a whole lot of office parties for just about any occasion..didn't help. So...time to get healthy in my past mid-life phase..
Hi, my name is Stephanie and I live in a very small town in Southern Illinois. I have been married for 11 years and I have 3 beautiful children ages 15, 10 and 8 years old. My husband and I made a decision after we married that I would become a homemaker. I have been up and down with my weight my entire life, and now at almost 35 years old I am having trouble losing any weight much less keeping it off. I am fairly active, not the type to sit in front of television and watch soap operas or anything. I am on my feet doing one thing or another most of the day. It's difficult to eat right when we are always running off to ball games for the kids and such. I just need some help, and don't know where else to turn.
Hi my name is Donna and I am a 5ft 3in 40 year old mother of two (12 and 8). Prior to having children I never worried about exercising or what I ate. I gained 60 pounds with my first child, lost the weight and gained back 65 pounds with my second child plus an additional 20 pounds over the past 8 years.
I started CC in mid 2007 at 202 pounds and lost 16 pounds but unfortunately I stopped visiting the website and gained it all back plus an additional 6.9 pounds. Anyway back in May of this year a group of us at work decided to start a biggest losers club and so I started back on CC at a grand old weight of 208.9lbs. As of today I’ve lost 20 pounds and the competition is schedule to end this Friday. I’ve decided to join this group because I know that if I plan to continue on to my goal weight of 132 lbs I will need motivation and I think that joining this group will help me to loose the 10 lbs per month needed to reach it. So thanks for allowing me to join and I look forward to talking to you.
Hey! I'm Emily, 20 yr old from Massachusetts, but currently studying abroad in Australia! I'm 5'4" and currently approximately 168 (I think). I'd really love to get to at least 127 and I think CC (and this group) can most definately help me in that.
I've been on CC for about the past 2 or so weeks and I love it. Unfortunately though, I'm unable to know exactly how much weight I'm losing because I don't have any access to a scale. It's hard not having that added bonus of encouragement from your scale every week. So until I get back to the States in December, I'm going to just have to go on the way my clothes fit and look I guess. It's also hard counting calories when you go to a dining hall for every meal...I never know exactly what I'm eating. Especially being in another country...sometimes I have to guess on what it is I'm eating
.
Something interesting about myself? Umm...oh back home I volunteer with seals, sea lions, and beluga whales. Best volunteer job EVER...I miss seeing/working with all the animals and trainers every week. But I'll be back there as soon as I'm home.

Hello,
This is actually the first group that I've joined, but I've been on Calorie Count for about a year.
I'm looking for some support.
Last year I lost 10lbs, and over the holiday months and in January, I gained it all back. I have been very disappointed with myself and that has prevented me from starting my diet again. But I think I'm ready to try again!
Hi, I'm Shannon. I'm a 33 year old mother of 3: 3yr old, 6yr old and 15yr old. The newest addition to our family is actually the 15 yr old. This has caused this summer to be very hectic and stressful. Not only have I not lost the weight I wanted to this summer but I have gained weight. When I was young I was very thin (95 lbs). I leveled out to a normal weight in college but then continued to gain significant weight (165 lbs). After my first child was born I was somehow able to lose all of the excess weight very easily (watched what I ate to some extent and walked my treadmill everyday). I got myself down to 130lb and felt great. However after my second child was born I couldn't lose the weight on my own. I did WW with some success. Somehow over the last 2 years I have gained all of it back and no matter what I do I can't seem to lose anything. I eat fairly healthly and exercise at least 5 days a week (including training in martial arts) and can't lose the weight. If you can't tell I'm a bit frustrated about it. I thought I'd give CC a try and ask for support from you all.
Welcome! We would love get to know you, so please tell us a little bit about yourself. You can choose any format you'd like, but most of us here share some or all of the following details:
1. History with weight loss:
2. History with Calorie Count:
3. Reason for joining this group:
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests:
And now just go ahead and make that first post!
i am jessica, 28,
1. highest weight was 2yrs ago at 230, current weight is 177
2. started to use this site this past week, been a meber for a year
3. March 2009 is my goal wight timeframe, support
4. love music, rock and country, love hanging out with friends, I am a social worker
1. I was at about 230lbs (5'10", 42, male) when I went in to see my Dr. in April. She said I needed to lose many pounds. I am currently around 200lbs. I have really gotten into running lately. I ran a 5K on July 4th and am planning on running a 15K in late October.
2. My daughter introduced me to Calorie-Count about a month later. It works great for me. I can plan my eating better. I really like the trend line on the weight chart. I think that helps me more than anything. Each day, you may go up or down a bit, but as long as the trend line doesn't move in the upward direction for too long, I know I'm doing OK.
3. I don't know why I joined this group. I usually don't engage in message boards. I find them overwhelming. My birthday is in March and I want to weigh between 165 and 175 by then. (Then my family can buy me new clothes for my birthday.)
4. I teach English as a second language at the local community college. It's a great job. I'm married and have two daughters. The dog and I are the only two males in the house. (We're not sure what the hamster is.) I like to read and listen to audio books while I walk. I love 80's music. I am learning to play the guitar. My daugter recently gave me a compliment saying "Daddy, you don't play as bad as you used to."
Hi, my name is Traci, I am 27 and I am from Minnesota. I have just recently started counting calories within the last month in a serious effort to lose weight and get my self esteem back! I had a baby in March of this year and want to get to my pre baby weight and then to my pre marriage weight! I am currently at 207 pounds (5'5") and want to be 150 pounds again by March 30th (my husband's birthday).
I have found this site to be very motivational and have enjoyed seeing what actually goes into my mouth! I have been working out almost daily and sticking to 1200 calories or a little less per day. Any suggestions on foods, exercise or anything else....please let me know! I wish everyone the best of luck in this battle!
Hi,
I am a 24 year old female with about 25lbs to lose. I recently started a new job and with that came a 10lb weight lose. That really got me pumped up to lose the weight and look good again. I am currently staying around 157 and 158, I should be around 135. I hope to reach this goal very soon. I am a foods and fitness teacher so I need to be in shape and at a very healthy weight, and 158 is not a healthy weight for me. Wish me luck!!
Hi,
I am Kathy a 49 year old from central Louisiana. I have never joined any kind of support group before internet or otherwise. But I weigh 215 lbs. and I am 5'4".
Like you I eat for comfort or to cheer myself up and it works while I am doing it but then I have to face that mirror and well you know... Something has to change in my life or I feel like I will die soon. My mom died at 50 and my dad at 56. Longevity doesn't run in our family . Write back and maybe you and I can help each other. Thanks,
