I stumbled onto this site by accident so I decided to join last week.  I have struggled with a weight problem my whole life.  It's certainly been a learning process as well as an emotional one.

This will be the first time I count calories as a way to control my weight.  I've taken off about 55 pounds over the last 6 or 7 years.  It came off gradually with small but positive changes everyday but I have not exercised.

I was down to 152 lbs but I'm now back up to 165lbs.  I decided to try and stop losing weight when I got down to 152lbs to see if I could maintain my weight at around 155lbs.  I have a very hard time with weight maintenance.  I seem to be able to lose weight or gain weight but not maintain it.

I'm a 33 year old female, new restaurant owner (18 months now), boyfriend, no children and my first mini goal is 155lbs.  The calculator tells me that I can  weigh 139.4 by March.  My weigh in day is tomorrow and I'm excited!

Hi everyone,

I am 24 years old, pregnant with my first kid. I am about 32 weeks far and have already gained 30 pounds. I am using calorie counter as my doctor suggested.

I am also very anxious about losing my pregnancy weight aftermy baby is born, so I am gettnig into the habit of counting calories already.

I have never had problems watching my weight and now I find it hard to see myself so big. I know its the pregnancy weightbut I have gained more than I should have.

My target is tobe at 130 lbs by March 29.

Hi there,

I am 30 years old, my name is Dana and I discovered calorie counter today. I have a 10 year old son and am a hairstylist by trade, I currently weigh about 155 lbs and have gained 20lbs in the last 7 months or so.

I never had any problems with weight in the past, even the baby weight of my son shed quickly.....I come from an obese family tho, being the only member of my family under 200 lbs.

I work out roughly 3 times a week at a gym doing cardio, strength and some fitness classes as well, I also walk about 2 times a week.

I have tried dieting and a few of the supplements available to no avail, so I am hoping with the support of family, friends and this group I will reach my goal, I tend to say "screw it" and binge eat on occasion but I noticed today that using the calorie counter allowed me to see my intake and what calories I had remaining and managed to stay within my goal and I'm not hungry...yet!

I love to night eat which is terrible, I have been really trying the last few nights to refrain or at the very least only eat lean protein and veggies in snack size, with water....I would love any comments or help and support you can offer.

Dana

I've been heavy since jr. high school.  About 5 years ago I reached my heaviest of around 300lbs.  I went on a doctor supervised diet (along with my wife) and reached about 225. I was looking good and feeling good, but over the last few years, between stress and medical problems I put about 30lbs back on.

Just really started using Calorie Count.  Joined to get motivation.  Trying to become obsessive about checking my calories, what I weigh, how much I exercise, etc.  Some might think the word "obsessive" bad, but I've found when I'm in that state I get to my goals.

Right now I'm trying to eat 1650 cals per day, with no more than 550 at one sitting.  Get in at least a 30 minute walk everyday, with hopefully more.  Weight Train at least 3 times per week.  This is my first week.  Wish me luck. ;-)

Laughing Hi, thanks for letting me join this group. I have been overweight for the last 15 years and have tried everything to lose! Well, maybe not everything, lol. I just found this site tonight and thought I'd see what there is here that might help me.  I was just diagnosed with hypothyroid disease and high cholesterol. I am retired, love to cook, almost 60 yrs. old and enjoy walking. I would love to meet my goal in 6 months and look forward to meeting you along the way.

My 43rd birthday is in March of '09, so that is why this group appealed to me. I need to lose at least 80 pounds so I am not sure I can lose all the weight by then. Caloriecount.com sets my goal date at April '09 so we'll see. I use calorie count to make sure that I am getting all the nutrients I need and to check to see what "bad" ingredients are in tthe foods I eat (I just don't use it often enough!!) I am in a band and it just kills me to think that people are looking at me on stage. The other guys in the band are fit and handsome and I just feel like the Hindenburg up there. I saw a recent pic of myself and it looks like there is no discernable difference between my neck and my face...it looks like I have an ass turned sideways plopped up on my shoulders....i don't know whether to wash my face or WIPE it!! As you can see, I deal with my weight issues using humour, but there is more tradgedy in this than comedy....I have reached the end of the proverbial rope and I don't know what to do...If you wanna see more pics of me, go to foolingbetty.com or myspace.com/foolingbetty and you will see what I mean...I am the fat one in all of the pics...I am a kick-ass bass player, singer and songwriter though, so I got that goin' for me! Here is my obesity resume' by the way:

Weight: 272

High Cholesterol (I'm on Lipitor)

High Blood Pressure (On 3 BP medications)

Back, knee and various other joint issues due to weight

Goal Weight: 185 (If I could just break 200 we could have a party!!!)

Hey,

This is the first time I'm trying to lose weight. I am at my biggest weight now of 187l  I don't know how to count calories and really don't want to but I figure what I don't know can kill me. I have no health problems so that's an added bonus to try. Joined because my target is March 2009 and am doing this by myself.

I have no pets, a 13 year old daughter ( has no weight problems at all!) Thank God, am a Billling clerk and just learning about fitness and exercise. I'm new to it all in the gym!

Hello,

My history with weight loss hasn't been too exciting. When I was little I was scrawny and petite. I have a small frame hidden under 165 lbs. I'm also 5'7". In highschool I was always about 140-145. And in the past 2 years I have gained 20 lbs. I lose about 5 lbs then just put it back on.

I just joined calorie count because my friend told me about how cool it was. And it does seem to be pretty interesting. And very supportive. Oct 20 2008 join date.

Pretty much joined for the facts and support.

I work in an office 9 hrs. I get off work and go to the gym. Treadmill for 45 mins or so and then weight train for about 20 mins.  I eat about 1000 calories a day. Due to my hypothyroidism it makes it a tad hard to even consider losing weight. I love to be goofy as all get out and am always jumping around the office and being crazy. I graduated a year early and bought a house. I'm also happily engaged. And my 19th birthday is in 11 days. I'm just kind of down about my weight. It takes away from the sex appeal, and self esteem factors. I know my friends think I'm fat even if they won't say it. Not that I want them to. I have the most beautiful dog ever! I don't know what else to say other than I am disgusted with the way I look, I have a lovely family who loves me a lot, and I do somewhat have hope that I can do it. It'll just be a long hard road.

hi everyone:

Well Im 34 years old I currently weight 184lbs and I want to go doing to 150lb by march my ultimate goal is maybe 135-140 lbs.  Im married and have two beautiful kids.  Im a bookkeeper for a living so I sit all day which is not good.  Im currently working on building a home gym which I can't wait to finish so I can get the exercise part worked into my daily routine.

I have to say this: I would love to look hot and sexy, however I got to say I only lost 1! pound and I feel great! I feel energetic, full of life..it's awesome..how it started on how I wanted to look and eventually that will be my prize but for now it's about my energy!

Hi! My name is Carissa.

I've always had a probably managing my weight and have never been "skinny". I'm currently at 170 lbs. Within the last few months my weight has fluctuated from 155-170, but it always seems to find its way back up. I've tried various self-created diets and exercise plans, but have never been able to stick with them.

I just joined CC yesterday and so far have been doing pretty well. Just having CC as my home page every time I open my browser has been very motivating. :) Which is exactly what I need right now.

I joined this group because, just like many of you, it helps to have other people with the same goals as you to do this with.

I'm 19 and live in a little town below Santa Barbara called Ojai and absolutely love it. I'm a massage therapist. I absolutely love dancing, which is what I think will be my godsend with my exercise regimen. Without the enjoyment in my physical activity, my motivation dissipates. I'm an art and music fanatic. Sketching and charcoal being my specialty, but I'm longing to learn oil painting. Last of all, and above all, I live to travel. This next year, everything that I earn is being put away so that I can travel Europe and Northern Africa for a year. And it will be nice to be fit for that trip so I can comfortably to a lot of walking and hiking. Who knows maybe I'll backpack around one of the countries!

Hello everyone! 1. History with weight loss: From the time I was about 10yrs old I have struggled with my weight but I finally hit rock bottom about 2 yrs ago I'm 4'11" and weighed 199!!!yikes since then I have lost 55lbs and have been keeping it off. I have about 20lbs to go!!
2. History with Calorie Count: A friend of mine emailed me the link when I mentioned I was starting to count my calories and little did she know she has completely saved my life!!!
3. Reason for joining this group:My 30th birthday is in March of 09 and I would really like to be at my target weight by then.
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: Well let's see I work a 9-5 mon-fri and i got to school in the evenings which leaves very little time to make it to the gym but I try to go whenever I can. I'm studying to be a licensed Esthetician and I love it. I can't wait to finish school. It was great to read all the posts. It's ggood to know I'm not alone in this struggle. Good luck to all hope to hear from you soon!!!

Hi all! I'm Jamie.

1. History with weight loss: Don't have much of one. I've generally been thin my whole life, until right after college when I started putting on weight.  I'm still a "healthy weight" for my height, but because I have a smaller frame, the weight shows on me in ways I don't like, which is why I'm here. You can't see it through clothes, but the skin around my rib cage, hips, and stomach is bumpy from the additional weight I'm carrying. I have a short torso and long legs as it it so it makes me look like an apple on stilts. It needs to go!!!!
2. History with Calorie Count: I've been a member for awhile, but I used to only use it to look up the nutritional value of things. Now I've started using it to track my weight and food.
3. Reason for joining this group: I'm getting married in March of 2009 so that is my goal date for the weight to be GONE!
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I'm 27, about to be married, and work as a tech writer for a software company. I've always been an athlete and love sports - I ran the high hurdles in HS and played basketball for 12 years. Now, I'm a dancer, and I love all ballroom, especially east coast swing, west coast swing, and two step. I'm also a country line dancer, and am part of a professional line dancing/couples swing dance exhibition team.

Hello!

I'm Camie.  I'll be 25 in March, which is why March is my weight loss goal!  I'd say that I've never really paid much attention to my weight, but I've slowly gained weight through college and never really tried to get it off.  I'm an Interior Designer, married for almost 3 years.  Thanks for letting me join the group!

Hullo there!

I'm Hong and I've just joined CC (found the link somewhere at about.com's articles on yoga). I'm eighteen and currently doing my first year of psychology. Just like Camie, my birthday's in March so that's why that particular month is my goal. I've often pondered about dieting and the likes, but have never actually started doing anything about my body up till now (the difference is that I now have a steady relationship and I don't fancy scaring the boyfriend away).

That's about it!

:]

Hello,

I live north of Detroit, I joined awhile back lost 15 pounds. But stopped watching what I ate and have gained it back. I would like to lose 25 all together and have started again. I would like to have it off by the end of March, so here goes again, hopefully this time I'll do it.

Hi, I'm Nick.  I'm 38, 5'8", married, no kids, two dogs.  For the last 1 1/2 years, I've made an effort to exercise consistantly and change my eating habits.  My heaviest weight was 210lbs.  My lowest was 157lbs.  I'm currently at 165lbs and wanting to lose between 10 to 15 lbs.

I'm hoping that by tracking what I eat, and talking with others about their successes and difficulties will keep me a little more accountable.  As it is right now, I'm in this pretty much by myself as my wife is not really interested in dieting or exercising.

Anyway, hope to see you online.

Hey!

I'm Penny.  I've been a follower of exercise and healthy eating my whole life.  It's my hobby!

I'm 5'11" and weigh 158.  I'm working toward 145 by March 2009.  I have used CC in the past to track food from a health standpoint.  Now I'm on a fat-burning resistance training plan where the eating has to be pretty strict to see results.  This is an easy way for me to track where I am on a daily-weekly-monthly basis as I go along.  My real goal is to change my body fat % so I'm not as concerned with the number on the scale.  Hoping to get to 22% body fat.  I'm currently at 30%.

My high weight was 185 (right after baby #3) and my low was 139 after a stressful incident in my life.  I don't want to get all the way back to that, but I did like how I looked and felt at 145.  So that's the goal.
