6. Who are your favorite male and female actor(s) that frequently do these films?
7. How do you feel about the bigger blockbuster films?

1. I like both Indies and Foreigns! Ive not watched a DVD on TV in ages - its all the computer and with as many Netflix I go through, usually when surfing but not so much with Foreigns (subtitles dont allow it).

2. I'd guess about 10+ years now.

3. I feel like I'd have to pay anyone I know to sit through them.  Ive tried them out but they get bored ("Nothings happening", "Its too slow") while I feel they provide more throrough character development so I believe and relate to them better.  Ive accepted they dont like mine' and I usually dont like theirs.

4. I particularly enjoy dramas and coming of age storylines.  I dont normally think comedies are funny but have had luck with Indies.  Im open with foreign films but have had a preference for Asian films.

5. Im not a fan of action films.  Also not as big on the scary or the detective type films but there have been exceptions.

6. I almost didnt post the actor/actress question because so many Indies and Foreigns have little known performers.  I'd have to say female Patricia Clarkson and male Steve Buscemi.

7. I am skeptical and am usually disappointed with the well promoted movies but there have been big stars in Indie like films Ive enjoyed.  The exception is I usually try to see all those nominated for Best Picture, Best Actor /Actress as they tend to be cream of the crop.

Mostly into foreign films (subtitles not dubbed). Can do without the action/gratuitous violence ones. I don't enjoy the computer generated movies as I like to see "real acting/stunts." I prefer Asian (Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese, Japanese & Indian) ones. I find it fascinating how different cultures have their own versions of the same story. The music and cinematography are beautiful. My second choice is the "black & white" movies of my childhood (my parents' friends owned the movie theatre in the small town that I grew up in.

1.  Both, of course.  The most recent foreign language film I watched was The Orphanage.  I’m in love with Guillermo del Toro’s style.

2.  I guess since Middle School (14 years old-ish).

3.  Husband likes the same type of films I do (thank goodness).  I have a few friends that are sorta into them, but not quite as much as I.

4.  I don’t think I like any particular genre over another one.  I like dark or oddball films.  Does that make sense?

5.  The only films I try to avoid are Romance what-have-yous.  I’m not into “chick flicks.”

6.  Steve Buscemi, William H. Macy, Roberto Benigni, John C. Riley (before he got popular), Philip Seymour Hoffman, Gael García Bernal.  I don’t pay much attention to chicks, but I’ve got a thing for Parker Posey.

7.  There is a time and place for them.  They are good to veg to.  I do have a beef with Hollywood though.

I freakin’ hate CG effects.  It looks terrible, really.

Screw you Michael Bay!

STOP REMAKING CLASSIC FILMS FOR CRYIN’ OUT LOUD!  ENOUGH!

Stop hiring music video directors to direct movies.  Just stop it.  It’s driving me nuts.

1. Do you like Indies, Foreigns or both?      I like them both. I have to be honest though... if an Indie doesn't look polished and professional, I will probably ignore it. I usually go for films that have great cinematography. I'm an artist, and certain styles pull me in while others don't.

2. How long have you been into them?      &nbs p;  I haven't only been particularly  interested in these types of films. I love cinema in general, and have seriously devoted time towards watching movies and becoming an expert on them ever since the 7th grade.

3. Are friends and/or  or family also interested or is this a solo interest for you?        ;   My family doesn't really care. Most of my friends only watch romantic comedies *sigh*. Recently, I met a guy who loves movies just as much as myself. He, however, is only into movies that are very masculine. He likes classics, as do I, so we get along well.

4. What particular genre(s) do you prefer?      &n bsp;    I love comedies. I'm pretty much a fan of anything other than what is my answer to #5.

5. What particular genre(s) do you avoid?      &nb sp;     Romances. Ew

6. Who are your favorite male and female actor(s) that frequently do these films?      &nb sp;      Jason Schwartzman. I will never forget his performance in Rushmore. As far as women.. Catherine Keener is remarkable.

7. How do you feel about the bigger blockbuster films?      &nb sp;     It depends on which ones. Some of them are amazing works of art, such as The Dark Knight and Titanic. Others are horrible. They typically don't have much substance though, so I tend to stay away from them.

Just recently saw The Dark Knight.  I was very impressed!Laughing

1. Do you like Indies, Foreigns or both? Both, but mostly foreign.

2. How long have you been into them? About 3 years.

3. Are friends and/or family also interested or is this a solo interest for you? My sister and brother like the same films as me.

4. What particular genre(s) do you prefer? Historical, horror, action, fantasy & drama.

5. What particular genre(s) do you avoid? Comedy and romance for the most part.

6. Who are your favorite male and female actor(s) that frequently do these films? Tadanobu Asano, Ken'ichi Matsuyama, Takeshi Kitano, Masanobu Ando

7. How do you feel about the bigger blockbuster films? Some of them are great but often times they lack the feeling and artistic freedom that the smaller films have. I understand that they want to appeal to a much larger and casual audience, but it can lose a lot in the process.
