Here's a little bit about me!

1. History with weight loss: Always struggled with weight. In 2003/2004 I lost 40lbs through unhealthy means (borderline bulimic though not diagnosed by a doctor). Kept the weight off until the end of 2005. I emigrated to the USA in 2006 and was 153lbs when I got married that June. Since then I've gained 40lbs and am now 190lbs. My goal this time around is to lose the weight in a healthier way. I'm happy to say that my days of purging are few and far between (not gone totally yet, but I'm making progress).

2. History with Calorie Count: Just joined!

3. Reason for joining this group: To find inspiration for exercising.

4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I'm married to an older man who has 4 kids (who live elsewhere). We're currently trying for kids of our own. I work as an admin assistant in the safety dept of a chemical manufacturing plant. I have 3 cats. My interests are belly dancing (I dance up to 3 times a week), going to renaissance festivals, listenign to music, working out, reading, cooking, travelling.

I too have a history of losing weight, 40 pounds about 6 years ago.  I was doing it the healthy way and working out but I had a back injury and never got back into the good habits after my surgery 4 years ago.  I have gained it all back and now am ready to get serious.  I am a mother of 3 girls ages 15, 18 and 21.  I work as an LPN and back in school working on my RN (also another reason for my lack of dedication to my diet and exercise regimen).  Not alot of free time but I enjoy hiking, fishing, movies, and just being with my family.

I look forward to supporting all of you and hope for us all to be successful in this endeavor.

My weight has been up and down over the last 18 years between 100 and 118 kg.  I recently became aware that I had severe Osteoarthritis in my right knee and moderate in my left knee.  I had an arthroscopy on my right to clean the gravel and bony bits out.  And after listening to my surgeon agreed that it might be a good idea to loose around 30 Kg (66Lb).  To date I have lost 7 kg and already the effect of the osteo in my right knee has reduced to moderate.

My main exercise routine is steps, elliptical cross trainer, walking with handweights and walking the dog.

With my exercise routine I wear a heqart rate monitor and try to keep my activity between 80 and 90% of max heart rate.  However waling the dog is for R&R now weight loss.

I can get just as good a cardio workout on the steps into my house from the garage as I can from an exercise machine.

With my level of activity I have averaged my daily calorie burn at 3750KCal which gives me a pretty good deficit.  At this stage I think that my weight loss has halted temporarily as the wasted muscles in my legs get back to normal.

As an aside I stopped smoking about 42469 cigarettes ago

Barry, NSW, Australia

Well, I just turned 50 in January and decided to get on the scale after being in denial for about the last six months. I thought it was bad, but wasn't prepared for the shock of hitting 200 lbs. and being only a 5'5" woman.  After I caught my breath, I decided to take control and do something serious about it before I started to develop health problems.  So here is my plan of action.  I have always battle my weight, but lost 50 lbs. and keept it off for 5 years, it slowly crept back on and now I am on a mission.

I joined CC and am sticking to a 1300-1500 cal/day food plan.  I also joined a gym, which I am really proud of myself for doing.  I try to get in at least 40 minutes of cardio 5-6 days a week. and work out on weight machines for toning and definition.

Since my husband and I love to travel, the Carribean is our favorite, I want to feel comfortable in a bathing suit and shorts, so that is a part of my motivation.  I also enjoy playing with my pitbull, Duchess, who is very mild mannered and gentle.  I also really love to cook, one of my downfalls, but have gotten creative with healthier meals, and have founds some good recipes.

The reason I have joined this group is to participate in a supportive group to get motivated and help motivate others.

I look forward to chating with you all.  Thanks.

Hi

1. Not really any history, besides the fact that i feel gross and have for a while and i want to... not feel gross anymore :)

2. I just joined today, it's been really good!!

3. I do no exercise. i'm in high school and i don't do a sport or any thing extra curricular. i uses to be able to use the excuse "hey man i'm a musician i don't need to play sport" but i had to stop getting guitar lessons for the hsc... so i'm stuck

4. i work at a photographic studio, i have 2 sisters, and a dog (but there's a good chance he'll die soon... he's kinda old)

and that's just about it

I have tried other diets and programs but never really stuck to anything.  I just recently joined Calorie Count on 7/22.  In 14 days I lost 8 pounds, which made me very happy and motivated me to stick with Calorie Count.  My daughter and I joined together; she recently gave birth and is trying to get rid of the baby weight.  So we basically keep each other motivated.  We walk in the evenings and I do the treadmill about 3-4 times a week and aerobics twice a week.  We are both are having a good time.

I think the biggest motivator with Calorie Count is that I can actually see the amount of calories I'm consuming  and this deters me from going over my limit.  I enter my calorie count after each meal which, I look forward to doing.

I have about 19 pounds to go.
