Welcome to the Group
Welcome! We would love get to know you, so please tell us a little bit
about
yourself. You can choose any format you'd like, but most of us here
share some
or all of the following details:
1. History with weight loss:
2. History with Calorie Count:
3. Reason for joining this group:
4. Some interesting details about yourself,
such as
your job, your family, your pets and your interests.
I created this group for us WI folks who are looking for support and friends in the area. I will be running challenges (all voluntary, of course!) either monthly or weekly, depending on how many peeps from WI we get!
I'm Victoria, I live in Madison (although I'm from Milw originally).
1. I have had a lot of ups and downs with weight! I grew up the 'chunky' girl (with a super skinny older sister, fun!)...I graduated high school at 220 lbs, then quickly dropped down to about 145...which was unhealthy for me and they thought something was wrong since I wasn't dieting. Well, then I got prego at age 20, and gained a lot of weight back. After my daughter's birth I lost a lot...until my fiance and I split and I had to work full time, be a full time mom, AND try to get out and meet people.....so I went back up in weight, then back down, then back up when I dated my ex who loved ice cream (and beer, and fried foods, like most in WI).
2. I've been on cc for awhile now, and every time I work at it, I get SO CLOSE to my goal....then I stop logging and making sure I exercise. about 1 year ago I was 5 lbs, yes JUST 5 lbs from my goal...then I didn't log on for awhile. Now I WILL do it!
3. I started this group because I wanted to meet more people on CC that could possibly meet up and actually workout together...or at least meet people that know what it's like to always have beer, cheese curds, fried ANYTHING pushed in your face all the time! I am currently 179 lbs, and I would like to get to 155-160!
4. I'm 28, have 1 daughter who is amazing. At the moment I am dating a wonderful guy and hopefully that will become something more. He is about where I am in weightloss and health goals, so that helps. I love to sing, play the guitar and I DO love working out....I just also love beer and cheese, so I HAVE to workout! LOL
Sooooo, welcome! Let us know who you are, what part of the state you live in, and what your goals are!
Hello from South Central Wisconsin -
I was a stick as a kid - so thin that everyone was constantly shoving food in my direction, and telling me to hurry-up when I ate.
Puberty came, and weight was no longer a problem.
I was average through high school, and didn't put on a ton of weight until towards the end of my college career. A couple of years after college, I joined a gym and began making better choices. I was back to being around 170 - not thin, but not huge either - and then I met my husband, who was also at a very slimmed-down stage in his life. What can I say? We got comfortable with each other.
Here I am, close to 50 pounds later, almost 10 years after meeting him. And he has increased as well.
I just joined cc recently, but had been counting calories on my own for a few weeks prior. I'm 7/8 pounds down from starting, so I'm feeling encouraged.
At 34, I would like to be out of the plus sizes by the time I hit my 35th birthday in February. By next Christmas, I would like to be down to 160-170 - still not ideal, but putting me close to the time when I felt healthiest in my life.
My issues - I have two hours of a commute per day, work 40+ hours a week, and still need time to see my family. There is no time for the gym without cutting out time spent being mom.
Any working out has to be minimal, at the moment, with the exception of when I kick it up on the weekends by getting outside with my son during daylight hours for walks, visits to the playground, etc.
So, I'm primarily focusing on my eating and doing stretching and other small exercises between meetings and such at work.
That is me. More is in my profile...

Well I'm a married lady to a wonderful husband. Only 28 years old! That is my dog princess in the avatar!
Let's see with me.. when I was a kid I was the chunky girl. When I hit 14 years I wanted to drop the pounds and the summer of 1994 I lost close to forty pounds. It felt great!
I was happy with my appearance and felt like I shed of an old me off. As a teenager and as an adult, I struggled back with weight gain. I'd gain the weight, lose it, gain the weight, and lose it again unhealthy.
I see where this cycle has gotten me and now I sit with pounds gained. I need to be on a safe and healthy lifestyle that is right for me!
That is really why I like CC it encourages you to eat right and by doing so your body follows and loses the weight. Already I've lost 2 pounds in just the 5 days of being on.![]()
I have a pretty sedentary lifestyle. I have on-line courses and I work part time, which also sedentary too.
I've consider all avenues and realize encouragement is the best way to succeed!

Hi there from the Fox Valley! I'm 32 years old, and I have a problem. I just plain LIKE FOOD. I actually get enjoyment out of eating, so when my skinny friends say they "forgot to eat" I just don't get it!
When I was pregnant with my daughter, I put on 47 pounds, mostly in corn dogs. Seven years later, I'm still calling it my "baby weight" and have no idea how to get it off. I work with some very encouraging people though, and one of the girls at work got me started on here. My problem is discipline - I haven't stuck with any one program for long. I did Weight Watchers once and got below 200 pounds, which was AMAZING, but since then I've put it all back on again and am currently at 242 pounds. Ideally I'd like to be at 160 - I'm a tall person, and I'd certainly be happy with that weight.
I work full time as a nurse, and our thoughtful patients are always bringing us goodies to eat. I have NO willpower - if it's around, I eat it. That's why my friend at work has been my rock when it comes to doing this. Although I haven't seen any change in my weight, I HAVE been doing well at staying below my calories and exercising almost every night. It's just discouraging because I'm not seeing any results yet!!
Nights and weekends are spent either helping my 2 children (ages 10 and 7) with homework or running them to karate class, where I spend approximately 3 nights per week. In order to exercise, I've made myself come home from work and go straight to my exercise bike. It's getting to the point now where I a.) really enjoy biking and b.) feel very guilty if I think about skipping a night.
My biggest motivation is my daughter. A couple weeks ago, she told me that she was glad I wasn't skinny because my stomach made a good pillow. I know she meant it as a compliment, but I heard what she was saying and it really hit me. I don't want my kids to be ashamed of me. And I want to be here for a LONG TIME, and that isn't going to happen if I don't lose some weight.
Anyway, that's me in a nutshell.
Ok, My name is Dan and I'm a 37 yr old male 5'9" weighing 191 lbs from Madison WI. I used to be a sprinter, basketball (star) lol, and jumper (triple and long). I haven't worked out regularly since college waaay back in 1993!
My goal is to lose another 16 lbs and so far (in the last 1.5 months) I have lost quite a few inches from my waist and 11 lbs. My goal is to be a healthy 170-175.
My workouts consist of weight lifting, an exercise bike, an exercise ball, and an elliptical. I've mounted a tv on the wall (so I can watch Brewer games while working out...WOOT!) I joined CC because I was interested in tracking exactly what I ate--and changing some of my (unhealthy) eating habits.
Nice to meet you all and GO BADGERS!!
Hi everyone! Welcome!
rcrc...I know what you mean about trying to find the time to workout. It's REALLY hard to argue that hour a few times a week over sleep or time with the kids! I do a lot of what I call 'desk exercises' at my desk...butt and ab crunches...just weird stuff you can do at your desk!
Faith_ you have only been on here 5 days?? Well, welcome! You seem to have a super positive outlook, so that is good! :)
lekililina....I hear ya, I LOVE food too. I think some days I workout just so I can eat what I want w/o feeling guilty. So I'm trying to teach myself to love the healthy stuff...not so easy! I'm getting that way about working out now, too. I feel like crap if I don't some times! And I also have to do it right when I get home, or it doesn't get done! LOL
dan....go Brew Crew! I actually was SUPPOSED to go to a game yesterday, but it didn't happen, my friend had to go in to work. Not fair, but o well! We lost anyway!
hah yea, I'm a WI fan to the end, so it seemed appropriate! Plus, not many other states have a cool thing like CheeseHeads!
I would like to join this cheesehead group. I am actually from the Green Bay area. I am a stay at home mom of 2. My son is 5 and my daughter is 3. I have been over weight most of my life. After I had my kids is when most of it really came on. During hunting season 05, right after my daughter was born, my mom took a picture of me with my deer. I could not believe what I was seeing. I was huge. I knew I was fat but i guess I don't really admit it until then. At my heaviest I was 252, today I am at 150 (5'5"'). I still have 5 pounds to go to get to my goal weight. These last few pounds are taking me forever. It feels like they will never come off but I know they will, someday. I love to work out now. I will usually go for a 3 mile walk and then a 7 mile bike ride 5 days a week. I have also started doing Taebo and lifting weights again after a 8 month break. I am really hopeing it will help with the last 5 pounds and tighten me up.
vicki8seekers, I am so glad there is a group for us cheeseheads out there. Thank you for staring one.
Hi from Mt. Sterling population 200? About 1 hour south of Lacrosse near Prairie du Chein, also about 4 miles away from Gays Mills which is Wisconsins apple capital. I am also a stay at home mother of 2. I am almost 31-married-daughter-9,son-5.I have always struggled with weight issues.Big in grade school, then anorexic in highshool (although still not skinny) then good until my daughter was born when I was 22. THEN I was diagnosed with minimal change-steroid dependant nephrotic syndrome, which means my kidneys would not filter out the protein in my body. I had to take massive doses of steroids for like 2 years and my weight went up to 310lbs. After 2 years I went into remission and got pregnant with my son (2003). After he was born I had congestive heart failure which resolved on it's own after a few weeks. Then around 280lbs. I yo-yo'd after that and in 2007 was down to 230. Was then diagnosed with hypothyroidism and degenerative disk disease in my lower back. That ended my career as a nursing assistant and I have been home ever since. I went to school for a Health Unit Coordinator/Med secretary and am still looking for a job, except no one wants to hire an overweight person with my health history. I was up to 310 in jan of this year and am now at 287. I know once I get out of the house it will be a lot easier to lose weight, but right now it's hard because I'm bored!! I walk on my treadmill everyday and try not to eat all the time which is no problem when someone is here or I'm not home. Well I'll quit rambling now-good luck to all of you!
Hello!! I live in the beautiful area between Montello & Pardeeville (we live in the country). I'm happily married with 2 children (1 almost 16 & an 8 year old).
A bit about me: Well, I think being a mother is the only thing I have done well. I'm a great friend & wife but my children are my treasures!! Now, before you feel like you're ready to vomit, I'm also the 1st to realize they aren't angels either!! I work FT and also represent lia sophia Jewelry and I love it!!
I have joined CC because I am simply impressed by the way I can actually detail & journal my information and I like to camaraderie I see here. My weight loss history was better before my second child...seems I don't have motivation anymore but I sure know how to complain about it! So, I am really here to get motivation and inspiration and to achieve success by losing the weight!
Hi I'm in Sheboygan.
Before joining calorie count I never really tried to lose weight Before I had my youngest son I hovered at around 170 for 8 years or so, my entire adult life. After I had my youngest son I went on depo provera and started to gain a pound a month, steadily for 5 years...that put me at 230 pounds...then I got remarried and we started "nesting" and well my highest weight was somewhere in the 260's. I was a size 24 and decided that going to a size 26 was out of the question. I would not get any bigger. I started counting calories and looking for the calories in a certain food I stumbled onto CC about a month into my "diet". That was Feb. 2007. Since then I have lost 61 lbs. I still have 72 lbs to lose. I am happy to at least be on the way down.
I'm a WI transplant and don't really know very many people in Wisconsin so I'm hoping to get to know some people.
I am a part time courier driver. It gives me the time I need to take care of my kids, my husband and myself...it also pays more than my full-time job was doing.
Hi! I'm Kristi from Ixonia, WI! And I won't feel bad if you have no idea where Ixonia is ![]()
Here's my story.....
1. History with weight loss: I'm 5'3" and have been "chunky" my whole life. All through highschool I was never below a size 10 and 140 lbs. Then I met my significant other, started taking birthcontrol, and the fat just kept sticking to me. I'm now 23, still with the same man, and 209 lbs. I never really cared about my weight since my boyfriend kept saying he loved me no matter how big or small I was and I was confident in my self worth without being a size 2, but when I could feel I was losing strength and endurance (like getting winded walking from my car to work) I knew it was time for a change. I've been trying to eat right and work out for a month now. Although I am not sure what weight I started out at- I didn't own a scale and never measured myself. I know I have lost because my pants are loose and I needed to add notches to my belt so they wouldn't be loose. I am hoping to at least get down to the 140 I was back in the day. I am working out 3-4 times a week for an hour, and eating right (although I have a tendancy to slip on the weekends!). This is my first real try at getting healthier!
2. History with Calorie Count: I've only been a member of Calorie Count for about a week. So far so good! I'm diligently keeping track of everything I eat and drink, and updating my activity log daily. It helps me to see what I'm putting in my body and what my exercise is taking out. However, I'm still having issues with the right Caloric intake that CC is giving me. 2,000 something calories each day???? I'm trying to keep it more around 1,000.. or 1,200 when I have a real grueling workout.
3. Reason for joining this group: I wanted to find some tips and advice on getting to and maintaining a healthy size. I'm not necessarily concerned with weight so long as my measurements are healthy. However, since I have NEVER paid attention to any of the exercise and healthy eating stuff before, I am pretty new and wide-eyed to the whole thing. I'm not sure what good fats and bad fats are, I don't know what a healthy caloric intake for me really should be, and I don't know how much weight loss I should see compared to the muscle I gain or what a healthy pace is for weight loss/measurement decrease....
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: Well, I work for one of the healthiest companies around - Trek Bicycle. I'm getting a Trek bike this year and going to try to compete in the Trek 100 without dying (if you want to know what that is-ask!). I have one neurotic Siamese cat named Marcel with whom I have a love-hate relationship (mostly love). I've been with my boyfriend for almost 7 years, but despite all the pressure to get married to him I am in no rush. I'm a recent Marquette grad, and even though I LOVE the bball team I smiled to myself when Dominique James broke his foot and ended his college career early. If you knew him well enough, you would smile too.
