Hi! My name is Sinéad, I'm almost 15 and I live in Ireland.

I have discovered a newfound love for running. I adore pushing myself, seeing how far I can go, the therapeutical values of running and the unbelievable 'high' when I finish.

Other than running, I love to read. My mom always says that since the age of four or five when I learned I have rarely been without a book in my hand. My favourites include 'The Book Thief', 'A Thousand Splendid Suns' and 'The Kite-Runner.'

I'm a student in 4th year, (10th grade in the U.S) or actually should I say I will be by next Monday (a few days of hols left!) I love Maths and Irish (Is aoibhinn liom an Ghaeilge agus Matamatic!)

Where in Ireland? I travel to Northern Ireland often (Belfast), and one of these times I plan on getting a layover in Dublin so I can see more of the area.

Welcome to the group!

Cork! It's at the opposite end of the country (it's the biggest county!) I've never even been up that end of the country, which I know is bad considering that it's comparable to just travelling to the other side of a state in the U.S. Do you have family in Ireland?

Where are all the other members???!! There are so many runners on this site, come on and join!

Hi.  My name is Eileen and I'm a runner (Hi Eileen).  I joined CC when I stumbled on it while looking for a site that would give me nutritional info for recipes.  I am soooo glad I found this site!  As far as my weight history, I've always been relatively fit but a little on the chunky side.  Thanks to running and cross training along with this site, I'm in the best shape I've been in since college.  I have four kids and one husband.  My 11 year old is a Type 1 diabetic as of 4 years ago and that's when I started my journey with nutrition, carb counting, calorie counting and crying over blood sugar numbers.  I'm 44 and started running last July.  I ran my first race which was a half-marathon in May.  Loved it!  I've learned to add mileage and speed slowly as to minimize injuries and I'm going to start training for a full marathon in January (marathon's in May).

So that's me in a nutshell!

Hello there. My name is Hillary. I live in Pennsylvania and I am 15 years old. I found CC up in January when I was searching on Google for some nutrition info for the Cheesecake Factory (Still never found any). A link that showed up was someone in a forum here asking the same thing I was. The rest is history!

I started running on my high school track team last year and I really enjoyed it. Although, along the way I developed a little eating disorder called Female Athlete Triad and I am currently in recovery. But enough about that.

I also enjoy bike riding. Running and bike riding are like, the greatest forms of human activity in the world. Anyway, I'm gonna start cross country next week, and I hope I can handle it. (I know it's a bit different than track, but I'm not exactly sure what to expect.) Well it's nice to meet you all :]

Hi all,

My name is Kate and I am 25.  I played sports in high school but started running in college when I stopped playing sports.  I usually run every other day (MWF) but go to the gym every day.  I do a ton of cardio but I am trying to get back into a weight lifting routine

I've been using calorie count  for a few years now and I eat really healthily and cook or make almost all of my meals.

I have never belonged to a group like this before or contributed posts so I also dont really know what to expect but its great to meet you all.

Hello!

My name is Susan, I'm 27.  As far as my weight history, I was always thin (but not fit) until I had my daughter who is now almost 7.  Since then, its been up and down.  Last January I joined a gym and calorie count with a goal of dropping about 25 pounds.

I joined this group because once I got into good enough shape I started running, and now I love it!  I've since run three 5k's and a 10k this year, and am training for a half marathon in October.  I'm also looking for some insight and support from others training.

I recently graduated from college (finally) and I am looking for a job now.  I LOVE to mountain bike too.  Just something powerful about climbing a mountain on your bike.  We also like to hike, and there is so much to see out here in Colorado.  In the winter I also love to snowboard with my daugher who is on skis so far.

I guess thats it for now!  Laughing

Hiya Kate .. welcome to the group!

Hello everyone!

My name is Renee, I'm 5'4", 125 lbs. and 38 yrs old.

1. History with weight loss:  I was thin as a child and started gaining around the same time everyone else usually does - in college.  I remember when I was a junior in college and took a general p.e. class.  I was 119 lbs. and NOT in good shape.  I never excercised regularly.
2. History with Calorie Count: Joined February of this year to help me lose weight - yet another attempt!  This time it worked!  I've lost 23 lbs. so far!
3. Reason for joining this group:  I have a new found love of running!  I actually ran my first 5K this a.m.
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests:  I have been married for 14 years and have 4 children (ages 9, 7,7,7 {yes, triplets})  I am living a life full of healthful eating and exercise now - one which I never imagined.  I'm the happiest with myself right now more than ever!

Currently I am 5'7" and around 150 and 30 years old.  I would love to be around 135-140.

I started to gain my weight in college but it was during my first pregnancy that I really put the weight on.  I started to lose the weight and then I became pregnant with twins.  I did a good job during this pregency about maintaining my wieght and only gained 20 pounds.  Then I really started to work towards shedding the weight.  About 2 and a half years ago is when I finally got serious about wanting to lose weight and started to get more active.  A year a go I joined CC and am pretty much in the same weight as I was when I started but I am a lot healthier and wear a smaller size.

I joined this group because I love to run.  I started running last Nov. and since then I have ran a full marathon, 2 half marathons, and a 10K.  I am wanting to really start working on my speed and hope to really start shaving some time off my runs.  I am going to stop actual training and hope to stick to around 30 miles a week.  That way I will be doing good when I start training again for my marathon in Jan.

Interesting details about myself...I am a mom of 3 and I am a daycare provider to 16.  My hubby and I do daycare together.  I don't have any pets unless you count my daughters fish.  I have 7 tattoos and in my spare time I like to run and sleep, lol.

Wow!  You started running fairly recently, and have already completed a marathon!  Congratulations!

I first began running as a way to shed baby weight.  I gained 60 lbs with my first child, lost most of it, then gained 50 again with my second.  It doesn't come off fast, but the lifestyle change is definately more permanent.   Plus, it is so cool when your kids see you doing something good for yourself and are proud of you.  (My kids are now 9 and 7.)

Good luck training for your next marathon!

I have been running for about 8 years.  I first started to loose weight after gaining 60 lbs with my first child (I was already about 15 lbs over my ideal weight to begin with.)  The thing that kept me motivated was when my baby was 18 months old, I would come home from a run, and he would say "mom, you're all sweapy."  I wanted to be a good example.

I just started with calorie count, because I wanted to see how I was doing with the 55-30-15 suggestion.  I love how everything about your diet is calculated out.

I am a 'new' homemaker.   I left a wonderful company where I had been an underwriter and a finance specialist, in June 2008.  So I've been getting involved in volunteer work with school and Bible study.  I have two kids, ages 9 and 7, a husband of 14 years, and no pets.

Hi,

I am Carol. I live in Portland, OR -- right north from track city or whatever and I live 2 miles from Nike HQ...

I ran long distance track in HS / College (I was never competitive) but always really liked running. I got back into it to lose weight and also just feel better. I have been on CC since late April. I have lost about 17lbs. But that has helped my hill running immeasurably - I zip up hills that were a real pain before.

I generally am running between 30 -35 miles per week but there are occasional weeks where I will do a really long run (17+ miles) with my husband and it will hit 40 miles or so.

I will probably be running a marathon next spring and my husband has his eyes set on some 30K and 50K trail races which for me will be more fun than road races.  I am mostly a trail runner due to a broken tibia two years ago (very painful, don't try it...)

Thanks.

Hello fellow runners.  My name is Bill. I joined CC in January 2007 as part of a New Year's resolution.  I had made a commitment to lose weight and get fit in October of 2006 and needed a way to track the progress.  Since then I have lost 56 lbs.  (and counting).  I am still a way off from my goal weight, but the life changed I was looking for have taken place.  I started running regularly in January of this year when I found a challenge threat called Run Around the World.  What a blast! Along with about 100 other CCers we ran more than 23,000 miles.  Now we are getting ready to do it again.

January 1st was my first 5K (another resolution kept).  I am late to pick up this habit of running, but I have found that I like it and it likes me. Since January I have raced in 2 5k events, 2 8K events, 1 10K, and a half marathon.  I am currently training for a full marathon in November of this year.  Currently I am running increasing my weekly mileage from the mid to upper twenties to the thirties.

I am joining this group to continue running focused discussions, gain training and racing strategies, accountability, and to glean more information. There is much that I do not know.  I am looking to add to the discussion.

I am an east coaster, married 2 children, no pets, and my favorite sport is now girls U9 soccer.

I my name is Richard, I'm 47 and live in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. I was born 2 months premature but made up for the low birth rate from the beginning.  I have always been 50-100 pounds over weight.

On July 30th 2007 during a routine doctors visit my  blood tests come back confirming I was a type 2 diabetic. I decided that day I was going to make some major changes.  I quite smoking, cut out caffeine and started eating much better.   Since then I have lost more than 90 pounds, maintained my goal weight for 8 1/2 months, walked/run over 2400km, run 5km, 10km, 1/2 marathon and have almost completed training for a full marathon scheduled for October 12.

I found CC website while trying to find information on carb content of foods I wanted to eat. I stayed because of the tools and the discussion treads.

I was never an active person but I started running last September in an attempt to accomplish my daily exercise goal faster.

I am married 26 years to the woman of my dreams. I have one daughter who will be 21 in a couple of months.

Hello, my name is Brent, I am 35 and live in Indiana.

I am a short guy 5-5, little over 150, but BMI still shows a tick into the overweight category.  I was as high as 178 in mid 90's, then 160s for a long time, now trying to lose 10 more though, to get BMI under 24 or 25.

I think this website is great, for free.  I used it last Jan/Feb and lost 10 lbs in very little time - 158 to 148.  Decided to get back on it.  Family just bought a Wii Fit, it weighs you and stuff, although the workouts are not all that strenuous.

Running right now to prep for 1/2 marathon Oct 19th in Indy.  Have ran 2 so far - same one last year, and MiniIndy this last May.  Both were tough to run the entire time, even though weeks leading up to them I ran 13.1 straight in training.

One of the best things I did was buy heartrate monitor and GPS, this better paces my running.  Oh - never was a runner until about, maybe 2 or at most 3 years ago but a buddy at work got me hooked.  I would love to be able to run full marathon some day.

My oldest daughter is 12, she is 5-2, and weighs 10 pounds or so more than me.  Currently she is attending nutrition classes on Monday nights, but I am trying to be healthy for both myself and her.  Wife struggles with her weight, too.

Hello!  I'm Jill, live in NJ, am a 37 y.o. mom of 2 boys, 11 years old and 15 months old...I started running with Team in Training to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in memory of my stepmom, and I kept going!  I've now run three half marathons and am signed up to run the Philadelphia full marathon in November of this year.  I've never "tried" to lose weight, always been about the same...until pregnancy in my mid-30s (my 4th c-section), followed by another abdominal surgery 6 weeks later, left me with an undesirable shape and about 10 extra pounds I'd LOVE to see gone forever...my work clothes still dont' really fit!  My shape has clearly changed since I started running; my weekly mileagle is consistently up above 30 miles thanks to my longer "long" runs, but with this lovely gut of mine I've got a ways to go.  So...we have 2 dogs, a cat, and random animals that find their way into our house (fought a squirrel out of the living room last week); we live in a farmhouse that was built in 1848; I'm a full-time paralegal and work on Sunday mornings at my kids' pediatrician's office...if it were up to me, I'd be a stay-at-home mom and be a student forever, I LOVE to read and learn, doesn't matter about what!  Well, that's me in a nutshell....thanks for all the info and motivation!
