Hello -

1. Fat, then anorexic, now at maintenance weight so I can get my doctors to discharge me from ED outpatients and constant weigh-ins and meal plans.

2. I joined calorie count because a lot of people in the weight gain forum were in a similar position and I find it helpful

3. My ed has prevented me from being the standard I should be to pursue a career in dance. Now I just want to be able to be a good dancer in my own rights, with dvds, school dance club and to improve my own really bad infexibilty!

4. I'm 14, just starting my gcse years at school, I live with my mum stapdad, 2 younger sisters and rosie our 2 year old springer spaniel. I'm a vegan and clean eater, now I've stopped gaining weight (YAY), I love ballet - but am resigned to the fact that I look really awkward - and know that, when I'm discharged, I won't be able to maintain a bmi of 19. I'll probably go to about 16-18, feel happier with myself, and not starve so my mum won't get worried.

I love edamame. XD

I'm allowed to start excercise again!!! WOOPWOOp!

1. History with weight loss: naturally skinny before i developed an ed, gained something around 10 pounds and am now maintaining normally.

2. History with Calorie Count: i joined cc as an anorexic and it actually helped me recover.

3. Reason for joining this group: i love ballet and have been doing it since i was 3.

4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: i'm seventeen. the only vegan in an omni family. i was in a pre-professional ballet company for 4 years. i had the body and the ability but i gave it up to devote my time to art and music. i intend to major in studio art and minor in music pedagogy (specifically piano.) i still take ballet and pointe classes three times a week.

i like listening to weird indie music while eating popcorn and reading classic literature. i also have an intense love for vegetables.

haha i was lazy with this group the questions are the default i guess cause I've never seen them. as founder i feel obligated to reply.

1. History with weight loss: always-underweight-at-current-height(5'6.5-se venth or eighth grade), eighteen-year-old female native manhattanite with history of multiple inpatient ED hospitalizations, haven't gone down that road since my last discharge in mid-november and no longer monitored very closely, i.e., tedious weekly weigh-ins and constant scrutiny regarding any consumption of edibles or lack thereof within my home.

2. History with Calorie Count: i came across it when  was insane and wanted to know the individual caloric for singular berries, clicked " Community" and very occasionally browsed topics that interested me until i joined in January to be able to log m intake, which i now usually don't bother doing

3. Reason for founding this group: i really thought there should be a dancers group for related discussion. I did ballet for five years as a kid but stopped at age eight which I regret more than anything. I started again two years ago, became severely addicted and went on pointe about a month ago, which I've quickly adapted to. during the summer I took class every day, sometimes two classes because that's just how I'd rather spend my free time sometimes when everyone else is being lazy and hanging out getting stoned and doing nothing.

4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I'm also the only vegan in my family, and edamame is one of my staple foods.

i like very trippy scary music sensations, and situations, hence the name.

I love Salvador Dali.

I want to go to Parsons, or RISD if I can get in.

trippythings dali is my FAVORITE :) :) what's your intended major? a guy at my school just got a full ride to risd for wood sculpture.

dali is my life, do you know Luis Bunuel films? they worked together on a lot of **** and basically they're amazing. The "Dali and Film" exhibit is at the MoMA now and i go there and draw to build my portfolio.

I don't know my exact intended major yet, because I want to master realism(graphite/charcoal) but I'd also like to work in fashion, which comes to me more naturally. I'd probably do a double major.

i've heard of him but haven't seen any of his stuff yet. i just saw an exhibit of kara walker's with some really interesting silhouette art.

i really love mixed media, but there's not an exact mixed media major at many places. i'm planning on going to ut austin for my bachelor's in painting and getting my master's at art school, probably KCAI unless i get a scholarship somewhere.

I've put most of my details on my bio page.  I use CC to help lose extra weight, am married, 3 lovely kids.

I've enjoyed dancing more than most men as far as I know.  I started by taking modern dance while at university.  I performed in two of the faculty's mainstage shows and still remember what fun that was.

After university I took ballet for a number of years, before I got married and then again after a break of a few years.  I haven't been able to keep it up what with 3 kids, full time work, a house, etc. But I've maintained a love for it.

I think I prefer ballet to almost all other dance forms.  My two older boys weren't interested but knew that I danced. I think it would have been really good training for them, and even great for their soccer.  And I'm sure that when they start 'noticing' girls, they would have loved dancing even more.

My 6 year old daughter is starting this September at a school run by a husband and wife who are friends of mine, so I'm very excited about that.  Who knows, maybe I'll be able to take her on stage for a pas de deux.

Favourite Ballet?  Swan Lake but also really like Le Sacre du Printemps (guess that's still a ballet).

Well, that's about all.  Always willing to pipe in on controversial forums.

Cheers

welcome all who dance

let's invite people(i'm usually not the most active forum-poster) seeing as this group hasn't hit double digits yet

if anyone would like a moderator position let me know

mmmm guess it's my turn :)

1. History with weight loss: started out always being in a "healthy range" but still ate like crap and not all that active - just one or two dance classes a week. Moved to slightly overweight my senior year of high school. Went to a dance intensive that summer, started college in the fall, and picked up more dance classes - with the increased activity I lost weight unintentionally, liked the comments and decided to try to loose more and spent the next three years dealing with anorexia. Got crazy near-death skinny. This past year I've been going through major recovery/weight restoration (not fun...) and am now back in the healthy range and have been for about five months. Still a little higher than I'd like though.

2. History with Calorie Count: Haha, just as trippy said - found it while trying to find the exact calories in every food...

3. Reason for joining this group: I love dance and always have for as long as I can remember. I absolutely adore ballet and am so depressed I don't have time to takes classes each week this year (last year of college... ahh!!!!). My favorite part to dance has always been arabian coffee in the nutcracker and I love to dance for Christ! I've also attended a christian dance intensive the past five summers with Ballet Magnificat! in Jackson, Mississippi. Love it there! It's just like home :)

4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: Let's see - I'm 21 years old and beginning my last year of college. I'm studying elementary education so I have this semester of classes, student teaching in the winter semester and graduating in April - yay!!!!!!! After that, I would like to move down to Mississippi to teach and hopefully still find time to be involved somehow with Ballet Magnificat! - mostly with their summer programs. I'm an only child unless you count the two cats :) They're treated just like family anyway! I'm also a hostess at Bob Evan's. Hehe - anything else you want to know???

Hello!

1. Started out average size, happy with my body. Gained like 15 lbs. from eating badly. Became anorexic and lost 50 pounds, barely avoided hospital. I've now gained back about 25 pounds and I'm working on maintaining (maybe possibly). My weight is higher than I'd like but my doctors want me to gain another 10 lbs. sooo that must tell you something.

2. I joined at the start of recovery when I noticed there was a weight gain forum.

3. I love ballet! It's not my entire life, but it's a big part of it since I've been dancing since I was 5. I just want to be as good a dancer as possible, since it really helps me to get away from ED thoughts.

4. I'm almost 14, I'm a vegetarian (ovo-lacto) and I play the cello! I hate the way I look in a leotard. I wasn't allowed to exercise until recently so the fat I gained distributed unevenly and I look blob-ish. I have no chance of becoming a professional dancer, partly because I'm almost 5'8". It's also because I was in a semi-professional company until I was in 7th grade, but then quit because it took up too much time. I would've had to have class six times a week if I had kept going, and I didn't want to make that commitment since I have so many other interests.

I like to snack a lot. Especially while listening to music.

Hey everyone! My turn:

1. History with weight loss: I was always very 'heavy set', and once I began ballet at age 15, I thought I had to be as thin as everyone else, so I started losing weight, which delevloped into an eating disorder. I lost 20lbs all up. I've now gained all plus more back, and am looking to lose a little as its really interfering with my dancing.

2. History with Calorie Count: I joined for support with recovering from my eating disorder, about a year ago

3. Reason for joining this group: I love ballet so much and wanted to be with others who love it also!

4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I've always been a gymnast by heart, but a broken ankle forced me to give it up (just went back after two years!), and thats how I found dance. I love listening to ballet music (I dance in my head =P). Umm, I love writing and reading (a particular fan of the Twilight series at the moment), and spending time with my puppy. I love exercise and feeling fit, and I am currently going through the worst exams of my life (the dreaded HSC).

Cant wait to meet you all!

Hey all, was nice reading up on the posts here, i'm in design and the arts too btw!.. Though my story's probably abit different so here it goes:

1. History with weight loss: I've never been overweight but my dad's side of the family is pretty obese (aside my dad who lifts/bodybuilder) and i take after them more than my mom's side, so I've always been aware I needed to take care of myself in that aspect. I was a skinny kid but started gaining around 8th grade and it all went to my hips (natural pearshape plus dance had always given developed my lower body more than my upper body) and later in highschool i started 'dieting' (and starting making friends with alot of pro-ana folks online) and working out. My heighest weight ever is around 126 lbs at 5'3", my lowest is 108 lbs.

2. History with Calorie Count: I joined because i felt like i needed a long term solution and my body was telling me that i wasn't eating enough. I think at some point i got too obsessive with calories and it led to alot of unhealthy behaviours like binge eating, etc.. so now i still use calorie count as a reference tool for new foods or restaurants (picking out the healthiest options), but i no longer count calories. Intuitive eating is working out for me more since i can now atleast maintain a certain weight when i've been used to going up and down the scale dramatically.

3. Reason for joining this group: I love dance obviously :P, and i miss it sometimes since i'm an ex-dancer. I still do it for fitness purposes, it's something i never want to lose in my life anyway. I'd love to meet more dancers here!

4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I'm from/and live in Dubai (in the middle east), i traveled alot gorwing up and lived in many places so i still don't feel attached to one place in particularly. I'm now a senior visual communications student (5th and last year! graphic design/photography/illustration) and also a certificate graduate from ESMOD french fashion university. I'm also a cartoonist on the side. In highschool, I was torn between studying art or pursuing dance professionally and putting in the time and money for it, but by the end I sort of made a probably controversial decision to a lot of dancers here by giving up the dance dream because i wanted to start wearing the muslim headscarf. By then i chose to go to a design school instead of an art school (so no dance or art! but i still do both). I'm currently planning on moving to Manhattan by 09, i'm going to attend Pratt for graduate school and I currently have a portfolio interview and an information session in January so i'm excited about that :)

Hope everyone's having a good weekend :) xoxo
