Hello,
I have joined CC for the support around calorie counting. My wife and I were talking about my need to get in shape. (I have Rhumatoid Arthritis and Celiac Alergy at age 35). If I want to maintain my health it is an imparative. We were talking about putting out a lot of money when we said, wait a sec, lets do what we already know. I few searches and here I am. Trying it again...
I have added some of my favourite Gluten Free recipes already and will add more. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about a GF diet.
Cheers,
Nuos
Hi,
I joined CC at the end of last year to loose a bit of weight, went to see a nutritionalist in march because I probably have oral allergy syndrome. She told me not to calorie count as i would get too obsessed, I came off the diet and put on 6 pounds over the next 4 months so i've decided to try again. I am an emotional eater, and often snack to alleviate boredom - calorie counting stops me doing that.
I'm 5'2 and 130 pounds - i loose weight very slowly as i don't belong to a gym or anything. I am just stating to see a downward turn to my weight graph.
I'd joined this group to see if anyone had any ideas about low calorie meals that don't involve raw fruits and vegetables! A lot of advice says to snack and fill up on leafy greens - but as I can't this is a problem.
Any ideas anyone?

Hello,
I've been a yo-yo dieter for years. I'm 5'0" and at my heaviest, I was pushing 150. After my divorce 3 years ago, 10 lbs melted away and over the course of a year I lost another 10. I usually plateau around 130, but would like to get down to 115. I'm allergic to every tree, grass, weed and cat a person can be allergic to. I do get immunotherapy shots for this, but it still makes aerobic activity outdoors a bit annoying (pretty much yearlong except if I'm in a snowy winter). I'm in the military so snowy winters are dependant on where I live at the time. I've been using CC for a couple weeks now and love the ease of use and the many resources. I hope I can stick with this program for the long run. After a few weeks, I usually convince myself that I can count calories in my head and stop inputting them. I joined this group in the hopes that others share the same issues I have when it comes to finding healthy snack alternatives. I'm also allergic to raw nuts and many raw fruits (apples, peaches, cherries...etc). Every menu lists these foods as healthy snack option, but what can I substitute these with and still gain the same nutrients, satisfaction and calories? This is probably the hardest part about following these diet plans. It's easy for those who can eat anything, but once foods have to be replaced and no one is readily available to do the brainless substituting for me, I get frustrated and discouraged.
Hello my name is Florence. I found out I had type 2 diabetes about two weeks ago. I also found out at the same time that I have Candida albicans and that I am allergic to 42 foods! I was put on a very limited elimination diet for the food allergies and low carb for the yeast. I joined this forum because I was having a hard time eating enough calories to keep my blood sugar from being too low on this diet, and from losing weight too fast - I was losing a pound a day! I needed to keep track of my calories not just portions since most of the food on my diet is very low calorie. When you are used to eating calorie dense food like cheese its hard to get down a huge salad.
The main improvement I have seen since getting on a diet is that my mood has really gotten better - I just feel happy for no reason! It worries me some that I still feel dizzy and week sometimes even though my blood sugar is not low. My doctor just said "don't worry about it" Grrrr!
I have made up my mind that I need to be on a good diet for life and not just when I want to lose weight. The reason for this decision is that this is the third time I have had to go on an elimination diet because when I would get off the diet I would eat so poorly that my system would get all out of wack again.
Some of you asked about low calorie foods. I am also allergic to many common snack foods so I have to stick to the ones I can eat. Blueberries, raspberries and cranberries are all very low calorie and very delicious when you get your taste buds off sugar. Half a grapefruit is also pretty low calorie. You can eat low calorie rice cakes and crackers for the crunch factor.
Hi! My name is Frances or Fran is what my friends call me.. I am trying to lose at least another 19 lbs.. I've been using CC for a few months now and have lost 13 lbs so far.. This is the first post in a group and I'm kind of new at this.. so I need support!! I am allergic to almost everything.. almost all trees..dust, most soaps and lotions.. Cats especially, but my main concern during dieting are my food allergies.. I'm allergic to so many foods that my allergist told me that I'd most certainly HAVE to eat some of the foods I'm allergic to just to get a balanced diet.. I can stomach most vegetables, but I can't eat oats or wheat.. so I'm pretty much gluten free.. She said (my allergist) that I don't have coeliac's disease and that I can occassionally eat wheat if I really needed to, but I find that I immediately swell in my face and retain an insane amount of water when I do... what I wonder is that I recently heard that food allergies can contribute to weight gain... What can I do? I also have PCOS and take metformin for that.. I have a 19 month old son and I'm STILL trying to take that baby weight off!! I'd really like input on my allergy issues.. so any support would be appreciated.. hope to hear from people soon!!
Dear Fran. I dont know if you have food allergies (the kind that can be life threatening) or food sensitivities like I do, but have you ever been tested for dysbiosis? Dysbiosis is having the wrong kind of intestinal bugs in your system. In other words instead of the good bacteria you have bad bacteria and yeasts. This can cause leaky gut. With leaky gut large protein molecules leak into the blood stream and cause your immune system to think it is some kind of invasion. The main result is inflammation which can cause a wide variety of "diseases". A good web site for food allergies is www.food-allergy.org This site has a page on dysbiosis. I know my food allergies are because I have Candida albicans, a yeast. I sympathize with you - its hard to eat a good diet when you have limited food choices.

Are you taking any medications for your type 2 diabetes? I take metformin/glucophage for my pcos (polycystic ovarian syndrome) which is usually a diabetic medication.. They will make you feel weak and nauseus at first.. it took me almost a month to regulate on it. How do you know if you have Candida albicans? Someone else mentioned that to me once and told me to try the elimination diet, but I'm curious how did you find that out?
Hi everyone! I lost 13 pounds (this time :-) by using following WeightWatchers but am having a little trouble maintaining now. I just found calorie count (much cheaper than the online tools at the WW site!) I am a fulltime student in a business management online program, am a life coach, work at a law firm, am married, have 3 grown children (and 5 grandchildren between my husbands' kids and mine), no pets (only because of those pesky allergies), and have a real heart for kids. I really look forward to this group.
Hi there - i would love to see some of those gluten free recipes. I am not celiac but do have a wheat intolerance and find a lot of gluten free foods taste like cardboard so i end up eating wheat and feeling sick and bloated and putting on lots of weight. Any help I can get would be great!
Hey All! I would love any help or advice on things regarding what to does! I have a fair few allergies mostly Seafood (mercury allergy) and a few others which means i am constantly on steroid therapies, which has assisted in my gaining 40kg in the last 18 months. Which is quite depressing. But any advice anyone has on how to beat the weight gain from steroids would be great. I am also on them alot for health reasons. Though i had surgery removing my enlarged adenoids 3 weeks ago, as my adenoids were holding the adenovirus, which assisted in, what i was informed were 'false' allergies. Which means i had reactions to alot of airborn things as my glands were unable to do their job. And again - ANY help in regards to this would be greatly appreciated!

Hi, I am just starting cc to try and keep track of what I am eating. I have been a yo-yo all my life and have currently gained 25 pounds due to nerve damage in my feet. I have just started moving again after surgery in Feb but at this stage of life, losing is hard. I would like anyone with any advise on natural remedies to outdoor allergies. I am a boredom eater so I have to be careful when I have down time. Any ideas on how to curb this?
Hi Everyone-
I didn't read everyone's bio but based on the several I read, I'm in the right spot. I have problems with gluten and am always trying to eliminate candida from my system. I'm in the turnaround phase right now. I'd been symptom free for several weeks but while traveling ended up going off my strict eating regime and got sick again. Now I feel like crap but am getting better. It's been a struggle for almost twenty years and I just want to be better. Someone else mentioned wanting to start with what you know as a way to improve your health, rather than spending a lot of money. NO DOUBT. It takes a good deal of self-regulating but I believe that once we nail down our health concern, we do know that eating well and getting regular exercise makes a HUGE difference in how we feel and how symptomatic we are.
I'm 43 and have really enjoyed using Calorie Count as a tool to regulate my food intake and watch my weight. I love that I get a real sense of where I stand in my day, what I can eat based on what I've already eaten. I'd like to lose about 5 pounds but more I'd like to stay healthy, active and within a healthy weight range.
I've read countless articles, websites, accounts of how to stay healthy with Candida, I can tell you that keeping track of the food you eat and the resulting symptoms makes a big difference in nailing down foods that should not be consumed or should be put into the diet on rotation.
Thanks- I look forward to learning and sharing.
Howdy
I've been on CC+ since mid-May, and I'm really liking the food log and the recipe database. I got heavy about 20 years ago, and have been trying to get slim by various means for 15 years...but usually failing because of lack of will power. I admit, I don't have any. CC+ is good for me because I can keep coming back. I make a plan, and even if I fall off it, I can turn around my day at any point and head back into the right direction.
In cruising the Recipe and Food Forums, I have found lots of suggestions for snacks and even cooked veggie snax. I recently had to stop wolfing down salad full of raw vegs. I can't even snack on raw carrots anymore--once a real lifesaver. But I've been able to switch to string cheese, hardboiled eggs and shrimp.
One recipe I copied into the recipe database was "Dusty Veggie Snax". The directions call for steaming then roasting various vegetables, after coating them with breadcrumbs and parmesan cheese. If the cheese or crumbs don't work for you, you can still roast veggie stix with lemon pepper on them or other spices.
So my suggestion is use the site extensively. Browse the forums and you'll find all kinds of useful knowledge and experience.
Hi Everybody,
Just found CC while chasing around on my computer looking for a site to help with my calorie counting. Thought I struck GOLD when I found CC. I saw how easy it was to enter my day's foods in the food log, and I'm hooked. Best thing is I can keep in touch with people like you who are going through the same challenges as I am, which is great!
I'm a 5' 4", 56 year old chickie with two sons, four grandchildren, and a cool gray tabby cat named Lilly. I started out in April at a whopping 282, counting calories, exercising and doing resistance weights. I lost 40 pounds and have since gained some back (dangit!). So, now at 254 I'm desperate and all pumped up get going with CC. I love how easy it is to plug in my foods and exercise.
I put on this extra weight after troubles with arthritis with my knees five years ago, and not being able to get around. I have since had both knees surgically replaced, and can exercise properly. So, this 100 pounds that does not belong on my body is a total embarrassment, I hate it. I want it OFF! I think with the companionship of everyone in CC it should be easier to this than trying to do this alone.
Hi again, everybody,
I just made my first post a few minutes ago, but I failed to say the reason I was joining this group. I too am plagued with allergies. I have only one food allergy which is oranges. But, I'm plagued with allergies to every tree, plant, bush, grass, you name it growing outside that I can think of. I am also allergic to mold and dust mites. I pretty well have all of these under control with medications, thank God. When I was younger there were no medictions for any of those. And, growing up on a farm, and doing chores in the fields and the barns was pure misery. I am glad to be an adult in the 21st century. I do have one drug allergy to codeine and allergic to latex. But, they hardly use latex in anything anymore since they discovered people were allergic to it.
I'm really thankful I found CC. I just gives me a little extra confidence knowing that I can go to my computer and read what another person has written about how they feel about their dieting situations and solutions. It's far better than waiting an entire week to go to a crazy meeting. I look forward to being intouch with everyone.
This has got to work. I have simply given up on everything else!!!
Hi Everyone
I have been with CC for 6 weeks. I am doing well with it. I have 25 lbs to go. I suffer from several allergies. I was on Zytrek before it went OTC. I am 61 years old. Just bought a new bicycle to help with exercise and I have arthritis in my joints esp. knees. I also am trying the balance ball for weight loss and some free weights. I work full time ( Marketing Director) so I am setting at my computer a lot. Married 5 children all grown and 13 grandchildren. Mike and I have Buck our 13 yr. old Beagle. I joined this group because of the allergies. Unfortunately I can not eat chocolate and I so love it. I will eat it anyway and suffer for a few days. I am trying to lose the weight to reduce knee pain and also on my last physical I was diagnosed as pre-diabetic. My mother is diabetic and I have seen all of the problems she is having because she refused to control her weight. I am a care provider for both of my parents who are 85 so if some one is dealing with that as well I would like to know how you are doing?
Im allergic to wheat, sun cream, antibiotics
gained weight after having glandular fever which had many complications including a thyroid problem basically meaning my metabalism stopped and i carried on eating as i didnt realise just about on track to getting back to how i was 150lbs at the moment and planning to get down to around about 130lbs im 5"7" which is about a stone under what i was before glandular so yeh.
Hiya! :)
I'm Katie. I am losing some weight because I want to look great when I go on holiday next year, and so I can get a really nice dress for christmas (without sucking my tummy in all the time!)
I joined calorie count back in like...april or may I think. I did really well (lost a stone!) then crashed and burned. I ate a lot of biscuits. So now I'm back on the wagon trying to make up for the fat filled summer I had.
I joined this group because I have annoying allergies that don't really do much, but make me quite unnatractive - red face and runny nose anyone? yeah, thought not! haha
I am studying journalism in Leeds, UK, and I live with my boyfriend Andy. I like electro music and getting drunk.
Hi I'm Hilary aka The Dragon (a long term nick name that I rather like as personally I think Dragons have had bad press! any how ..... er hem!)
1. History with weight loss: - I never had any problems with weight until the Doctors put me on steroids 14 years ago and I piled on 200 pounds in a year.
2. History with Calorie Count: - Joined in April after using a similar system you pay for!

4. Some interesting details about yourself,
