And now just go ahead and make that first post!
I am a 30 something mom of two teen boys living in the Salt Lake area. I recently lost about 15 pounds and would like to loose 10 to 15 more. I suck at counting calories but thought I would give it a wholehearted try.
I joined Calorie Count and kept the log for approximately three or four days a few months ago. I think if I had friends who were interested and interesting on the site I would log in more often and keep better track of my calories and progress.
I work in law enforcement, am a single mother and I live with my boyfriend and children. We have two mini wiener dogs and I knit. I love anything active and don't watch much tv. I enjoy being a mom and now that my kids are growing up am starting to get used to the idea of being an empty nester.
I have always pretty much eaten whatever I wanted to but with age this has become detrimental to my weight management. I need to forge new habits and manage my weight more successfully.
Welcome, diablosauce (LOVE that name!). It sounds like our weight loss goals are very similar...although I have 20 more pounds to go...
I live in Tooele, and travel a lot for my work...that's probably been one of my most difficult weight mangement struggles - eating appropriately when away from home!
I look forward to getting to know you as we continue on this journey of weight management!!
I do suggest that you browse the forums...I find that I get a TON of good information and inspiration there...
Hello, My name is Tara. Ah I am at this again hopefully for good this time. Last year I lost 70 lbs and have gained it all back and I am so disgusted with myself. There are lots for reasons for the weight gain......but it all boils down too emotional eating, and I have to loose the weight again !!!
I live in St. George Utah and would like to get in shape and healthy so I can start to enjoy the area I live in, instead of taking my kids on hikes and having to stop every 10 minutes because I am out of breath. That is my goal,,,I know it is far off but I want to start hiking and rock climbing.
Ummm,,about myself....I work with at risk families, so that can be quite challenging but rewarding. I have 4 kids, and 1 cat, 1 spider, and 1 bird. Tomorrow is my 15th year wedding anniversary.
That's about it bit, I love to meet new people, send me message.
Hello,
My name is Wendy, I live in So Ogden With my huband, 3 boys and 3 dogs.
I work in one of our school districts elementary schools as a child Nutritionist and cook.
I have never had a weight problem until I had my 3rd child at age 36. I haven't gained any weight sense then. However that pregnancy left me 50 pounds over weight. I neither gain nor loose weight. I don't diet I just try to eat the right way. Eating healthy comes naturally to me I just don't eat enough so my body thinks it is starving and stores fat. I should be eating 1650 Calories a day but can only manage to eat 900 to 1000 a day. I have been keeping eating journals now for approximately 5 years. I still weigh the same. In the summer time when I really buckle down and eat like every two hours and reach the calories, I tend to loose about 20 #, but when school starts each fall I fall of the band wagon and end up right back where I left off.
I am an avid quilter and spend most of my fee time quilting. I love to reed and watch romantic comedy. I try to walk 5 miles at least 4 times a week. It is harder now that winter is here.
Hello Fellow Utahns....Nice to see you all! Everyone knows someone who lives in Washington Terrace....Well I am here now! And yes I live in Wash Terrace.
I have always been a big girl but I am happy for the most part. I work really hard at eating properly but then a bad day happens and WHAMMO I am stopping in and having a donut or two. Then the day is shot so what the heck...Cafe Rio. Don't feel like cooking so who cares lets order pizza. It's hard when you have a bad day early!
So far last week...NO BAD Days Hooray and it shows.
Let's see how this week goes.....It's only Monday after all.
See you around!
Cafe Rio?! You too, huh? I must say, I don't know anyone who lives in Wash Terrace. I don't actually live in UT anymore, but it's still "home" so I thought I would like this group. Most of my family is still there. Yours is the post I most identified with... especially the "it's been a long day and I just don't want to cook" sentiment. Weekends are the worst for me, because when I am at work during the day, I have other things to keep me busy. Now, if I could just learn to enjoy exercise as much as I enjoy Leatherby's caramel sauce! Of course, since we don't have Leatherby's in TX, it's only a problem when I am home visiting.![]()
Nice to "meet" you!
Well I am glad you responded. I have been very good and not falling prey to the bad days! I avoid Leatherby's because I am afraid that my icecream addiction will kick into high gear. I also avoid Farr's! Weekends are my hardest time too. Just too much free time to snack, go to dinner, go out for ice cream etc etc...and I do work out, but it's only so I can eat!
Phew...counting calories is painful...do I really eat that much junk? I have only been counting calories for 3 days and though I eat a lot of veggies and fruit I also eat a ton of crap. I thought I ate well, but I really don't. I am averaging a “C-“ which is okay for a 15 year old boy, but I'm a 31 year old boy and want to eat better. I am here to: monitor what I eat, make calculated choices about eating better, and as a result I want to lose 6 pounds so I can sit proudly on the beach this summer.
A little about me: I live in WVC and work in SLC for a communications firm. I love life and I am really active when I can be. The problem is that I'm also a work-a-holic, and I only work out when I get all the work done--which is usually too late to go to the gym. Another problem is that I travel a lot and usually eat too much and at bad times. In addition to my FT job, I also just started a business that's taking off and I've almost completed renovations on my house. Somewhere in the fray I fit a semblance of a social life and try to be a superdad to my two kids on the weekends.
I wish each of you success in your goals!
-Jason
I just joined last week. I want to be able to live another day and to enjoy my grandchildren. I am terribly overweight and out of shape. I teach in an elementary school and need to be a better example to my students as well. I live in rural southeastern Utah. I have 4 grown children and 6 grandchildren. I work with wonderful people who are always dieting and I hate it! I spend all my "down time" listening to well-porportioned people talking about losing weight. And there I sit. Are they talking about how terrible I look? They bring in treats to celebrate birthdays, etc. making sure I know which ones are the low-fat, low calorie ones and that I should leave them alone for them to eat since I don't diet along with them. But they are really great people, I just don't like the message they give me. They are into this "team weight loss" and last year I actually told them I was taking bids for joined the "other" team. That way they would be sure to win. They didn't get the message of how much it hurts. We are not starting another school year and I am dreading that part of my day. I love my work and they are all truly my friends. I have just laughed long enough about it and cried behind the scenes. So much for all of that.
I have limited my calories the past two weeks and have gone to the gym for exercise every day. I am walking, pedaling the cycle, arm-rowing, knee presses which helps my articifial knee. I am feeling much better and able to breath much better. I pray for support and help here.
I joined today. I have been counting calories for 1 1/2 weeks and it sucks!! My sister n law is doing it with me so its nice to have the support. we have diner together to so its not hard to keep it up. We are both doing the HCG diet and i have lost 15 pounds so far and i wanted to keep it up so i joined so once the diet is over i can keep up on eating good and keeping the weight off. I have 2 kids and my youngest is 7 months old. we would like to find people in our area hurricane utah to maybe start work outs with.
Hello, I have never Calorie Counted. I live in the Utah County area. I want to lose 20lbs or so. I have 2 kids and one dog. I joined the gym and have started working out.
