And now just go ahead and make that first post!
Hello.
My name is Jason, I am been a member of Calorie Count for over a year now and I have lost close to 60 pounds. I started riding motorcycles about 2 and a half years ago. My first bike was a 2006 HD Sportster 883. This spring I upgraded to an 08 HD FLHX.
Well, hello all! How bout that, start a group and then don't do anything about it.... it's a long story.
Anyways, I've been on CC for about 6 months, and have lost about 12 pounds, about 40 pounds before joining. Down to trying to get the last 5-10 off and to stay off.
I've been on 2 wheels for about 14 years, now riding the occasionally shiny '03 Triumph Sprint ST shown in my avatar.
Welcome all motorcyclists, share your two-wheeled passion with us!! Tell us one of your great bike stories, how you got into it, what you like about it, about your bike or favorite rides, favorite roads, whatever!
I live in the UK and found this site through reading the New York Times on line. I have a brother in Houston and enjoy keeping up with things Stateside.
I am one of four brothers and we all battle with our weight - its in the genes. I am really thinking about what I eat much more carefully and this site has given me the tools to bring my weight down by 23 lbs, as of today. Just 3 more to go to my goal (157lbs). I will be back to what I weighed when I left college 32 years ago. Trouble is that I clearly am not going to be the same shape! I need to go to the gym but its too expensive.
So this will be my next goal. I am getting fitter through walking everywhere. Take the car to the supermarket for the big shop once a week but try to walk briskly every day for about an hour. So far that has worked for weight loss. Now I have to devise a way of toning up cheaply.
I took up biking about 22 years ago. You know the pattern - hit thirty, got divorced, bought a motorcycle! I am a fan of German engineering so often have BMWs. Current bike is a 10 year old BMW 1200c - it is the cruiser model featured in the Bond film in cream and blue livery. Don't get out on it too much but enjoy exploring the beautiful south coast and The New Forest, where I live. Really enjoy meeting up with buddies on Tuesday evenings at Poole Quay Where up to 1000 bikers turn up on good summer evenings.
I was married for 10 years, divorced, no kids and have lived with my wonderful partner for 23 years. Spend most time renovating this big old Edwardian house and out on my motorbike. Taught art for 22 years, inspected schools for four years, now sort of retired. Glad to meet you all.
Hi all! New to riding/bikes in general and am quite fascinated by it all! I've been on CC for around a year now, newly married, and am finally able to focus on my weight loss again without losing my sanity. I initially lost about 15 lbs. after I joined and am ready to continue to my goal of 150 (about 50 lbs. left to go!). I work as an administrative assistant, am getting ready to finish my accounting degree, and am also a novice photographer. Happy to be here!
Rough day you guys. Crepes for lunch....sweet tooth kicked in big time today. Stress.
Beautiful day here. Would have been an absolutely perfect day to ride.
There are things I like to do that deter my thoughts from food. Riding is one of them. Driving is another. Working outside.....
Unfortunately I was stuck at work and I couldn't focus for the life of me. I just didn't want to be locked up inside. When I get anxious like that I start to snack. Anything sweet.
A friend of mine called and suggested she and I go for a short walk / break. Nice. It worked. Should have done that many times today. :)
Tomorrow is another day. It's supposed to be gorgeous for the next couple days here. It's typically not this warm. The snow will fly soon. I don't mind the snow. Life gets calmer. Of course that's about the time I like to start baking so the house smells wonderful..... Have a nice night everyone!
Hi Everyone
1. I have been battling with my weight since I started college (8years) and have been losing. When I hit 180lbs last year it was a huge wake up. I have got myself down to 162 lbs, but have hit a road block.
2. I have just started with CC a couple days ago. I am hoping this is the type of thing to kick my butt in gear, and meet some people to help motivate me and hold me a little accountable.
3. I was just wanting to join a group that was on the smaller side and I have been riding (on the back) bikes with my husband since we got together. This past May I did get my liscense, but haven't been able to buy a smaller bike for myself so I haven't been out much. We have a ZX-14, but it is a little too much power for me right now :).
4. I live in IN, but call MN home (we moved down here 4 years ago for school). I am currently working as an engineer for a biomedical company. I have been married 4 1/2 years, no kids (unless you count the two dogs, and my husband :) ).
Looking forward to getting to know everyone. Have a good friday!
Hi,
&nb sp; Everybody calls me Porkchop. I've been riding since I was 18 and got my Harley at 26. I'm now 44 and still have the same bike. I've rebuilt it several times and do not have any ideal how many miles I have on her. Ive been the typical big fat hairy biker for 20 years now. I've never worried about Fitness or weight until 2 years ago when I had to have my first shoulder surgery. I was 320 pounds and all the health problems to go with it and my wife was pregnant with twins. Time for a life change. I'm down to 270 and I'm slowly losing the weight.
Hey everyone! Who knew there was a Biker Group!!! WOOHOO!
1 & 2. I've been a member of CC for about 3 years... lost 60 pounds since joining although I've been in a bit of a stall for the last 8 months or so. Probably have lost more than that since my all time high.
3. Joined this group because, well, because I LOVE motorcycles, and those who ride them.
4. I am a military spouse. Learned to ride about 3 years ago, and then promptly put myself in the hospital with a broken leg. Came out and learned to walk again, added 8000 miles on that bike, traded it in and got a bigger one. We don't ride much currently because we are on the island of Guam and the riding here SUCKS!! As in, I don't wanna die!! But we are headed back the states soon, and I'll be racking up the miles!
Hi there!
tember83,
Try a Buell "Blast". It's a single cylinder that's an absolute Blast to ride. :) Handles beautifully. Great for someone just starting out. Approx. 70 miles to the gallon. Light weight. It's so much fun. I've had my license for 9 years and it's my favorite. Harley uses them to teach their Riders Edge course.
Have a great week!
Harley Davison Sportster! Bike Week is my Motivation! Bike Week is coming up soon and I'm just not happy with my body.
So...here's the deal. I am 34 and have been gaining a little weight here and there over the last couple of years. I've noticed it...but conveniently ignored it. I am really not looking for a drastic weight loss or anything. I just need to watch what I eat and get a little more serious about my workout. Tone back up those kinda squishy areas!
I actually eat (relatively) healthy meals... I also walk about 3 miles every other day....but I am a snacker. I love to snack at work and at home. Mostly sweets....Little Debbie is my BEST friend.
I really just want my nice tight tummy back from just a couple of years ago....so I posted a couple of pics of me in a swimsuit....because I wouldnt be caught DEAD in a swimsuit right now....that's my goal....a swimsuit by the summer. I'm too young for shorts at the beach!!!
I have started watching my caloric intake and cut out ALL snacking....and I am walking more and have started actually using my BowFlex too. I'm hoping since I dont have that far to go, I hope I can see SOMETHING in 4 weeks....
Wish me luck!
Hey fellow riders!
I'm Scott and have been on CC since May 2007. I bought my 2006 Electra-Glide Classic in February 2006 @ 240 pounds. I was almost big enough for it when I got it, but figured I'd grow into it! lol Between then and last riding season, I lost 100 pounds, the last 70 of those thanks to discipline and CC. I was in the low 140's all last riding season and thankful I can still hold up the bike I love! I live in Ohio and around this time of year I'm itching to ride big time.
As for my health goals, I've started a bulking phase this month and lifting weights in an attempt to add some lean muscle. I still log my weight and food every day and welcome riding stories until the snow gets off the roads and we can ride again!

Haha! Maybe I should have said it took less than four of me to equal it when I bought it, and now it takes six of me! It was -7 this morning in Ohio, I'm desperate to get back in the wind!!!
I just put a pic of it in my profile. It was shortly into the weight loss and after a weekend-long rally. It's all there, the farmer's tan, the gut, I can't even believe it was me looking at it now and that was only a year and a half ago! The funny thing was I was flirting with under 200 pounds on the scale then and thought I looked pretty trim at the time! LOL
1. Gained about a pound a year after I hit 35, and I do not have the same amount of time I had back then to PT and stay in shape.
2. Been counting calories on this site since May 09.
3. Love motorcycles (any kind). Current bike is a DRZ400S.
4. Happily Married for 18 years, 5 awesome kids. Haven't ridden much in past 3 years, as I've been deployed for 24 of the last 30 months (1 year in Japan, & 1 year in Iraq).
5. Plan to buy a new bike within the next year or so. Have my eye on the Moto Guzzi V7 Classic.
6. I plan on doing a cross country ride and some motorcycle adventures when I retire from the Marine Corps (www.Transamtrail.com), as well as moto adventures in Europe, Canada, Mexico and elsewhere.
1. History with weight loss: I joined calorie-count a while ago, but can't seem to stay with it. I've been steadily gaining wait since 2000 and am now up to 315 lbs. My health is starting to be at risk and I'd like to get down to 220.
2. History with Calorie Count: As I stated above, very intermittant use of Calorie Count.
3. Reason for joining this group: I love motorcycles and after thinking about things today, I need to get a support group around me to help me continue my journey.
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I'm a data analyst for a company that makes pharmacy automation systems, loosely translated "I sit at a desk and make reports". I am a father of three lovely daughters. I am soon to be married to my lovely girlfriend Heather in September. Heather and I close on our first house tomorrow! We have two cats as well. For interests, well, I love sci-fi books, movies, etc. I also enjoy my Xbox and I am an avid motorcyclist. I've been riding for about 23 years or so.
