1. History with weight loss:
2. History with Calorie Count:
3. Reason for joining this group:
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests:
And now just go ahead and make that first post!
I have always been overweight. Most of my life I have been insecure because of my self-image. I joined Calorie-Count in Feb. 01, 2006. I lost some weight here and there but never really committed myself to making the lifestyle changes that I need to make to really achieve weight loss. I lost my job in Feb. 2007 and spent the summer mostly feeling sorry for myself. During that time I was able to lose approx. 25lbs. Not in a healthy way.
I have since gotten my life back on-track and I am ready to make the changes necessary and commit to a healthy lifestyle and weight.
I know that the only real way to lose weight and keep it off is to eat healthy, consume the right amount of calories, and add exercise to your daily activities. Calorie-Count has helped me learn so much about a healthy lifestyle.
My co-worker and I joined Weight Watchers together to give each other support. She believes full-hearty in WW and I am always willing to offer and receive any support, ideas, etc. that I can. So in August 2008 I incorporated WW into my daily lifestyle along with Calorie-Count.
I would like to share my experiences, successes, ideas, etc. with other members who are following WW along with calorie-Count.
We CAN DO THIS.
I have slowly started gaining weight in my upper 30's and can't seem to get it off very well anymore. I joined weight watchers in March 2007 and lost about 12 pds and was close to my goal. I moved to a new town, took a new job and got married and gained the full 12 pds back. I have half heartedly tried to lose some weight, but don't stick with it very well. I rejoined WW since I moved, but was not motivated at the meetings at all so quit and have tried to do it on my own. I don't know anything about Calorie-COunt and would appreciate any tips you can give me to help me out and slowly get this weight off.
I work full time and have 2 children and 1 dog. I have no outside interests right now because we just moved into a new house and that is very time consuming getting settled after living out of boxes for over a year.

I prefer entering in the foods I eat in Calorie-Count. I like the way I can tag my favorite foods, enter in foods that are not in the data base, enter my recipes, etc. I just personally prefer the Calorie-Count. However, I am doing WW online and they offer pretty much the same tools they just are alittle different. Plus Calorie-Count is free.
It really helps to enter in your daily food/beverage intake into CC. Once you enter in your foods you can click on analsis (sp sorry) and it will tell you how ever overall ate health wise for the day. I like that too. I think it is important to look at your overall health benefits of the foods you are eating not just staying under a certain amount of points no matter what you eat.
The one thing I don't like about CC is that the recipe data base contains both "healthy" recipes and non-healthy recipes without a sort or a way to access only the healthy recipes. WW sorts recipes alot of different ways but I like sorting by points sometimes.
are you doing the flex or core program? I am working with the Flex. The one thing I did wrong right off the bat was I immediately stopped drinking and went below my points for the day. This created a HUGE calorie decrease and I think my body went into some sort of "What the heck is she doing mode" because I didn't drop any weight. I have sinced increase my calories/points a little bit so that I can adjust a little slower.
Hi! My name is Melanie... I have done ww before and was really doing well. I am 5'7" tall and am now weighing 200. I have weighed about 130 for most all of my life but the past 5 years I have packed on the weight. I am a medical transcriptionist and I work all the time. I have 3 mostly grown kids with one of them married, another in college, and on about to graduate and go to college. My husband works out of town most of the year and I am home with my mother who has always lived with us. She is very helpful about watching weight and is a marvolous cook. I am going to try to follow my ww diet and keep track online as well instead of going to meetings, which I really do not have time to go to anyway. My biggest problem is exercise. I used to be very active and now I sit on my butt all day. I need all the help I can get!

Welcome. Hopefully we can all motivate each other and help each other stay on-track. I also have a problem with exercise because I also sit on my butt all day at a desk job. But I know that now is as good of time as any to get moving. Someone here on CC told me this and it stuck with me.

Hi I'm Danielle
I'm really glad I found this group. I have been using CC for about 6 months. I started off well losing a couple lbs but then (as always) lost motivation.
About 6 weeks ago I started WW and am going to weekly meetings. I've lost another 12 lbs on this program and I love it! Although I seem to have hit a null for a week or so here, I plan to stick it out. That's what's great about the meetings....having people there to talk to and motivate you.
I also love the meetings because there are people there (including the leader) who have lost the weight! It's really motivating to see them.
I enjoy CC because of the great database of foods, the forums and groups and because it's FREE!!
Here are my stats
- Mom of Joel (3) and Karsen (1)
- Wife to Darcy
- Age 28
- Weight: START 242 NOW 228 GOAL 140
- Height: 5'6"
- Points per day 30
- Weakness: Junk Food, especially chicken wings and beer. I don't like "working out" ......yet
- Strength: I love veggies and walks with the kids.
I look forward to losing weight with you all !!!

Welcome. Congratulations on the 12lbs! There is nothing more motivating then losing weight. I am 227lbs this morning - we are within a couple pound of each other. :)
Hi everyone - I'm Andrea!
I'm glad to see a Weight Watchers group on here. It will be nice to share tips and support with others following the plan.
1. I've always had issues with my weight, but I never really thought I needed to do anything about it. I guess I took it as a given that I would always be overweight. But then I struggled with uncontrollable blood sugars while pregnant with my son in 2006. I knew I needed to do something about it to make sure that I was a healthy momma. We had Connor in November 2006, and I joined WW in January 2007 at 261.8 pounds. I was floored at the number, especially since I'd lost my pregnancy gain.
I've done both Flex and Core programs and have managed to lose 70 pounds so far. But I've been on an awful plateau for the last 6 months, I think because of poor food choices and getting too comfortable with my routine. I haven't set a personal goal with my leader yet, but at 5'10", I would like to be in the 155-160 range. That means a total loss of 100 pounds, which seems so daunting. But then again, I never imagined I'd be able to make it this far. :)
2. I joined Calorie Count today on the advice of my personal trainer. I just started a training group with other moms at my local community center. Since I'd been doing Core, I haven't kept a food journal in months. I'm looking forward to regaining control over my portions, because I don't think the whole "eating to satisfaction" scenario has been working.
3. I joined this group because I think support is crucial in weight loss.
4. I'm currently a SAHM, but I plan on going back to school for a secondary ed degree and would like to eventually teach high school social sciences/history. I'm married to an Australian, and we're traveling down under for Christmas with his family. I'd love to be a bit closer to goal by that time, but we'll see how the coming months go.
I'm looking forward to chatting with you all!
Thanks Salome!
I have had an awful 2 weeks as I haven't really seen the scale move despite my being on points target everyday. This has happened to me before (hitting a wall after 10lbs). I've heard of it happening when someone gets close to their goal, but I am a long way from that.
My husband tells me to just stick with it. I will, I just need to know this is temporary and right now, it doesn't feel like it is!!! ERRRR.
Does anyone know (or can guess) what's going on, or have any of you had this happen.
PeanutMomma, I see you have been going through this for 6 MONTHS?! That scares me a lot because I still need to lose 90 lbs or so. I'd even be happy with 40 right now. If I have to fight this hard to not see results I'm not sure it's worth it.
So, there was my wa-wa for today. Just feeling frustrated and down about the whole thing. Thanks for listening :)

Yep - but it's been a plateau mostly of my own making. I broke under 200 in March and I'm still in the 190s (although my scale hop this morning showed 190.5, so perhaps there's light at the end of the tunnel!:)
I decided to switch to Core because I was making poor choices with my points on Flex. But it took a while to find my balance learning the comfort zone. Core is a really good plan to follow, but I don't think I was willing to listen to my body like I should have. And not journaling just killed me. I guess I'm the kind of person that needs portion control and structure.
I know trying to lose a lot of weight is really daunting - just take it day by day and make the best choices that you possibly can today. I worry about tomorrow when it gets here.
Hang in there!!
Thanks for that.
I know I could never do core because of those same reasons. I don't have a very good hunger/full balance going so the portion control is crutial.
I feel much better today. Although the scale isn't being my friend, I put on some size 18 jeans (that, 2 months ago I wouldn't have fit into at all) and they were loose! I was surprised by that, and very happy.
How is everyone's week going?
Great job on the smaller sized jeans! That's a great feeling. :)
That's one thing that has kept me going this summer. The scale didn't move much, but I went down a size in both tops and bottoms. I'll take any motivation that I can get!!
Hello everyone!
I joined Weight Watchers the first time when I was 12 and weighed 168 pounds. My mother was great to fix all my food and help me journal every bite that went in my mouth. I lost 40 pounds and have since then joined weight watchers different times through the years. I am now 38 ( will be 39 on Friday) and motivated to get started again. I am 5'6' and weigh 200 pounds, which is the weight I have hovered around for a few years. I am married and have two boys 12 and 14. My husband is a farmer and we all do lots of stuff together on the farm. My husband and I watched Biggest Loser last night and made a deal that if he would lose 15 pounds and I would lose 30 pounds we would celebrate by going away for a night. Remember he is a farmer and we don't get away very often. I am not going to join Weight Watchers this time but will count my points and write everything down. I think writing everything down is a big key.
Best of luck to each of you! I hope I can help motivate you and you can help me stay on track also.![]()

Hi everyone. I have just signed up for WW for the new year. I've been on before but have yo-yo'd a lot because I wasn't eating regularly enough through the day and then my blood sugar would go haywire. I'm hoping to use Calorie-Count to plan my meals and make better food choices. I find it really tough to think in points and prefer to think of food guide servings.
Hello! I haven't signed up for WW, but plan to next week. I have a 10 month old and getting out of the house is still kinda hard. This is a lifestyle change for me. I've already started eating healthier, less fat and more veggies. I love to cook and love food. I have one son, 10 months and my husband and I were married in June. He's really supportive. I've had a gastric bypass in the past, and am now as high as I've been since.
I really enjoy about.com, but this is the first time I've seen the caloriecount page. I know I need to keep a food diary and am really excited about being able to do online.
Hello All,
I am just starting up weight watchers again. I hope this group is still active! I did WW a few years ago and lost 20 pounds. I have tried several different things since and few worked, a few didn't. When i was really doing WW the weight would move every week-sort of like magic. And I didn't have any guilt if i was within my point range, even if I felt a bit naughty. I need that feeling again, so today I start logging everything again. Only thing is I weigh a bit less than before so I get less points!!!
Hello, I am new to weight watchers but am a firm believer now. I started doing it on July 1st, one month before my vacation to the beach. I wanted to shed about 12 pounds to be more bathing suit ready. I not only lost the 12 pounds, but lost a total of 18 by vacation just a month later. Now September 4th, I have lost 23 pounds and have to stop shedding the pounds because I can't get any thinner. I like that of course, but I am now a size 2/3 and people are yelling at me. It does become addictive and I have a habit of falling prey to that sort of thing. I need help with maintaining and I am not sure how to do that.
