Ok, well since I started this, I will post here first.

I'm a single, 41 year old female who is 240 pounds and sick to death of it.  Time to get serious.  Not going to hit a quarter ton for Pete's sake.  I have been off and on with calorie count for a couple of years but always lose interest, don't have the time to add things in or just get lazy and fall off the wagon.

I've kind of been steadily gaining weight since my early 30's and I am bound and determined I am not going to get any bigger.  Since I need all the help and support I can get, I am hoping there are others in the same boat.

We can share recipes, struggles, have weigh ins, discuss exercise options and so on.

So come on in and join the group!

Ok, made it through one day without a cheat.  Am not much for wiping out entire food groups while eating right, so have decided not to go that route at all.  I tried Suzanne Sommers and Atkins and after awhile, just really wanted some potatoes (being polish and irish descent, kind of ingrained).  So, last night I prepped a beef (well mostly vegetable, but some beef) stew and got that in the crockpot and also a stir fry which is marinating.  So, I have some healthy food choices for the next few days dinner.  I find that it is a lot of work prepping the food, but I guess in the long run, it is definately worth it.  Have to make sure I get some exercise in today.  Only had time for a 1/2 hour walk yesterday.

Ok, got through day 2 and still on track.  Even managed to get in an hour on the treadmill.  Had the stew in the crockpot ready when I got home and it was heavenly (used a 6 qt crock pot - 16 ounces beef, 5 small new potatoes, 6 parsnips, 1 small rutabaga, 2 onions, 5 large carrots, some low sodium beef broth, garlic and thickened it with a little guar gum and flour, salt and pepper), had a piece of whole wheat baguette and even a tiny bit of butter on it, yippee!  Can't remember the exact total calories but it was on track with my goal of 1750 calories a day.  I discovered a great little snack (well for me anyway as I like crunchy things) - a couple of finn crisp crackers with 1 laughing cow light wedge spread on both (finn crisp as 20 calories each and the skinny cow is 45, so 85 calories in total) which I enjoyed immensely about 1/2 hour after the treadmill.  Getting a little bored with my salad right now as had the same one each day and tomorrow too, so going to have to mix it up for Thursday.  Anyone have any good low cal mixed greens/vegetable salads?  A twist I could add in there with few calories?

Made it to day 4 and took a peak before my Monday weigh in.  Just wanted to see how I was doing and down two pounds!  Yippee!  Keeps me motivated when I see it coming off!  I lack real will power so that is going to be my hardest obstacle.  I'm also not going to make myself miserable so I can lose weight.  Let's hope it is a two pound loss after the weekend (getting together with the girls for drinks and you know that is empty calories galore).  My plan is to exercise like a maniac on the weekend in order to allow myself some wiggle room with the drinks.  Should be ok.  Ok, onwards and upwards on day 4!
