Hi There!!
I'm from Port Washington, Wisconsin. I'm married - no kids... just 3 fat, lazy house cats and a high strung min pin.
I joined CC in April 2007 at 245lbs. As of today I have lost 49lbs. 21lbs to go and I'm hoping to reach that goal by 1/1/09.
I'm going on a cruise at the end of October. My mom and I are going to Cozumel, MX on a Carnival cruise.
This site has been a really helpful tool in my weightloss journey. CC has helped me through 3 plateaus and many moments of weekness and discouraging setbacks. But I'm still here and I'm still counting.
welcome new members! I'm not as organized as other groups, just wanted to know if there was anyone close to offer support to and vise versa. I am 30 y/o and live in a tiny town called Mt.Sterling which is about 1 hour south of LaCrosse. I have 100+ lbs to lose and just need to stay on track. I have lost about 20 lbs so far but I have a long way to go. I have 2 kids 9 and 5 and am looking for a job. I am a CNA but because of back problems can't do that anymore. Well, thanks for joining and if anyone wants to add something to this group you're welcome to. I'll check in later, have a great day--you can do it!
Hello!! I live in the beautiful area between Montello & Pardeeville (we live in the country). I'm happily married with 2 children (1 almost 16 & an 8 year old).
A bit about me: Well, I think being a mother is the only thing I have done well. I'm a great friend & wife but my children are my treasures!! Now, before you feel like you're ready to vomit, I'm also the 1st to realize they aren't angels either!! I work FT and also represent lia sophia Jewelry and I love it!!
I have joined CC because I am simply impressed by the way I can actually detail & journal my information and I like to camaraderie I see here. My weight loss history was better before my second child...seems I don't have motivation anymore but I sure know how to complain about it! So, I am really here to get motivation and inspiration and to achieve success by losing the weight!
Welcome! Like I said before I'm not on here a lot- just wanted a site for us wisconsinites to support each other on if needed. keep up the good work.
<---waves to everyone.
Hi I'm in Sheboygan.
Before joining calorie count I never really tried to lose weight Before I had my youngest son I hovered at around 170 for 8 years or so, my entire adult life. After I had my youngest son I went on depo provera and started to gain a pound a month, steadily for 5 years...that put me at 230 pounds...then I got remarried and we started "nesting" and well my highest weight was somewhere in the 260's. I was a size 24 and decided that going to a size 26 was out of the question. I would not get any bigger. I started counting calories and looking for the calories in a certain food I stumbled onto CC about a month into my "diet". That was Feb. 2007. Since then I have lost 61 lbs. I still have 72 lbs to lose. I am happy to at least be on the way down.
I'm a WI transplant and don't really know very many people in Wisconsin so I'm hoping to get to know some people.
I am a part time courier driver. It gives me the time I need to take care of my kids, my husband and myself...it also pays more than my full-time job was doing.

Hi,
My name is Sharon and I live in Oshkosh. I've been struggling with trying to lose weight for several years now. I have some issues that are getting in my way and want to meet someone who is willing to buddy up with me to keep us both on track.
I had a knee replacement a year ago which limits what I can do for physical exercise. I can walk, bike, and lift weights, but can't run or do anything high impact.
I also have thyroid disease (low, but on meds) which, even though it's treated, I believe is still causing me to have issues with losing weight.
I have about 50 pounds to lose and would like to do so in the next year.
I am married and have an 11 and 13 year old kids, one girl and one boy. I also have a 4 1/2 year old rat terrier named Spottie.
I like to walk, bike, scrapbook. I work full-time as a school counselor. I also like to travel with my family.
I have been overweight since middle school. I did gain 50/60 pounds with my two pregnancies, but managed to lose it all after. Until my thyroid went to heck. Then I put on about 35 pounds and haven't been able to lose it! Frustrating.
If anyone has ideas, I'd be willing to listen. I try to eat as healthy as I can. I use Weight Watchers Points, but don't officially belong to a group. I also try to work out 3-5 days a week, but am not always successful because of my kids schedules.
Thanks in advance.
Sharon
Hi my name is Mary and I am new to this group. I live in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Here is some information about me…
History with weight loss: I started gaining weight to hide my first pregnancy … and it worked … everyone in my family thought I was getting "fat" and not "pregnant" … that started a lifetime of unhealthy eating habits for me. I have been a "large" woman for most of my adult life. The only time I was thin was when I was about 22 years old … I was exercising every day for 30 minutes, plus I was bulimic (making myself throw-up after eating) … thank God, I stopped doing that … but then the weight started to come on and stay on. It seems when I was in my twenties that I could lose weight so easy … now it seems impossible! I am 5' 7" and currently weigh 325 lbs (WOW! Never thought I would share that with anyone!!!) I would like to lose 125 lbs, which seems astronomical to me … so I am trying to break it down into smaller goals … for now I'd be happy to lose 25 lbs! I know several people who have had bariatric surgery to lose weight … I don't want to do that … I want to lose weight by making healthier food choices and exercising.
Health issues: I am diabetic (I take insulin twice a day), have high blood pressure (I take medication so it is stabilized), severe asthma, CHF and I just found out that I have degenerative arthritis and bone spurs in my left foot. From time to time I have to be on steroids which make me gain weight. It seems that each time I am on steroids I gain more and more weight and never lose it! UGH! ![]()
History with Calorie Count: I joined Caloriecount.com in June 2006 because I wanted a way to keep track of what I was eating … specifically total carbs/calories. I needed to "see" something in writing about what food choices I was making. I start to keep track and then slack off … been doing that now for 2+ years. I do eat healthier and make better food choices when I do keep track of my food.
Reason for joining this group: I am sick and tired of being overweight, being tired all the time and not being able to be an ACTIVE participant in my life. Obviously, I can't do this alone … otherwise I wouldn't be struggling with my weight/health like I am. I need encouragement to stick with this … one day at time … one meal at a time … one bite at a time! I figure there must be others out there who are struggling like I am and perhaps "TOGETHER" we can encourage, support and help one another to eating and living in a healthy manner.
Some interesting details about me: I have been with my husband since I was 11 years old! YES! REALLY! We got married one week before I graduated from high school and we celebrated 31 years of marriage in May of 08. We have 3 grown children and 7 grandchildren. I work full time as a legal secretary. I love spending time with my family … especially my grandkids - they always make me smile and laugh! My interests include: music (Contemporary Christian, Country, Golden Oldies), I enjoy reading, being outdoors with nature - star gazing, campfires, rides in the country. I am active with my church. And I LOVE to cook (and eat)! I like meeting new people and making friends.
I am hoping (and praying) that joining this support group will give me the boast of encouragement I need to stick with my heart's desire to eat healthier and start exercising. Thanks for letting me share.
((((Hugs))))
Mary
Hey Mary,
I, too, am looking for someone to "keep me honest" about what I eat and making better choices. I don't get a lot of support at home because my husband doesn't like "diet" or "low-fat/no-fat" foods.
I am struggling too with low thyroid, which the doc says now shouldn't be a problem since I'm on synthroid, but the weight still isn't coming off.
I also had a knee replacement a year ago (I'm 45) and want to lose about 50 pounds so I'm taking some of the weight off that knee so it lasts longer.
If you'd like to buddy up with me, I'm game.
Let me know.
Sharon
Hello I am Andy and am from the Waukesha area of Wisconsin. I have joined the group to lose my last 11 pounds ( that would be 57 this year total) and keep it off.
I am looking for buddies or even people to go out meet, exercise and just keep the momentum going for good this time. I was very active as a kid going in to my 20s and w/ work the next 20 years were bad in terms of exercising, eating and staying fit. I dont want to use any fad diets, been there done that and have found that I add weight after each one.
I love cooking so this year I have totally changed my eating / cooking habits and will continue to do so. I am not giving everything up but on a occasion I will still eat some bad foods and just understand that the next day I have to workout harder. Hope to meet one of you and good luck w/ your journeys
Hello to fellow Wisconsinites -
Found this website just yesterday; so far a useful tool. Nice to have forums too. Here are my answers:
1. History with weight loss: I've struggled with my weight a lot. A couple years ago I went vegetarian and lost a lot of weight, only to slowly gain it back. I think my problem has been consciousness. I grew up with a mother who loves to cook (and still does, which is a problem because I am home for the time being, in school). Her attitude towards food was in turn a reaction to her mother's, which was of course, calorie counting and worrying about weight. So my mother does the opposite. If you can imagine, there is a very feel-wheeling, all-you-can-eat attitude around here. But since I started actually counting calories in August, I have lost 50 pounds. The relationship between food and my body isnt that much of a mystery anymore, so I don't think I'll be falling backwards again. Knock on wood.
2. History with Calorie Count: Just joined yesterday.
3. Reason for joining this group: I'm from Wisconsin and currently live here (Milwaukee area)
4. Some interesting details about yourself,
such as
your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I work part time at an Interior Designer's office, and am also a student, post-baccalaureate in Art Education, going for certification. Moved home a little over a year ago, after ending a long-term relationship. In a lot of ways trying to put life back together again - weight loss being one of my goals, along with finding a job and being independent. And pets! I love animals! I have a ragdoll polydactile cat named Polly and my family has two Newfoundlands, a male named Milo and a female named Wednesday. Milo is 6 and fairly neurotic and Wednesday is a rescue dog that we've had for a year. We think she's about 9, and she's recovering from blown ACL's in her back knees but is otherwise still a happy dog. I am a loyal Mac user, I love love love yoga and the studio I go to, and am trying to find a good place to get some good used diagonal cross country skis for all this snow we've had recently. =)
My name is Donna and I hail from Hixton, WI. I live on a farm that has a great view of Silver Mound and Lake Blake.
1. History with weight loss: I have a pretty bad history with weight starting since high school. I've tried several diets, which include nutri-system, Weight Watchers, and even The Biggest Loser Diet. I found the best way is just to learn to control your portions and keep count of your calories daily. This website helps quite a bit.
2. History with Calorie Count: I tried fitday.com, but they don't have everything listed. I am hoping this website does. So far it's working.
3. Reason for joining this group: To find friends in Wisconsin that are in the same boat as me.
4. Some interesting details about yourself,
such as
your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I have no job at the moment. I'm going to technical school to learn to become an Administrative Assistant. I am married, have four kids, two grandkids, two dogs (a beagle and a collie) and four feral cats. My interests are motorcycle (both riding and viewing. I also like repairing old ones), camping in a camper down in my woods, traveling the countryside, photography(outdoor), fishing, hunting(sometimes), and lately an interest to get back into knitting and crocheting. I also have developed a small interest in gardening and canning.
Hey Donna,
Welcome to the group. I have been talking to Mary for a while, but we've kind of lost touch. Where the heck is Hixton WI? I've never heard of it and I've lived in Wisconsin my whole life.
I live in the Oshkosh area. I try to work out 3-5 days a week, but am not always successful. I also purchased a Wii fit about three months ago which helps me track my weight and BMI, but I still haven't lost much and been able to keep it off. I tend to lose and gain the same five pounds over and over. Frustrating.
Tell me more about you and what your interests are.

Hi I am also Sharon
I have been on a weight loss plan one or another all of my adult life.
I just found this site and thought I would try it. so far so good. I joined this group because I thought it might be nice to know people in my state. I live in Greenfield WI sub of Milwaukee. I have a great husband, 1 daughter a SIL and 2 grankids with one one the way Feb 16th.
I have just finnished with chemo 7 treatments in the last 9 months. I am down to 199 from 220 when I started Chemo. I don't want to lose more weight the way I lost the last 20, but I do want to keep going down. I am not working right now, but will start looking when I get hair back.(I may scare people right now) HA
I love to scrap book, read, nap, and cooking. I need to start to walk and get my strength back. that is my goal today.

Sharon: Hixton is, if you follow I94 West, is at the 106 mile marker after Black River Falls. The town is mainly antique shops right now. The Blue Collar Cafe and Timber Valley Restaurant are the only two thriving businesses other than antique shops and a feed mill.
Silver Mound is where the Native Americans from miles around used to go to get their flint for their arrows and other tools. It is a archaeological dig site now. It is called Silver Mound because when the first white explorers saw the place in their spyglass, they thought the "glint" in the sunlight was silver. Story goes that the Native Americans say that there is silver there, but the white man will never find it.
A little more about me. I don't know much more to say other than I hate winter, but will never leave Wisconsin. I've been to other states and always say that it is a nice place to visit, but I don't want to live there. As for exercise. I have recently bought a treadmill and my sister-in-law that lives with us just purchased a stationary bicycle. I try to work out daily with Sunday as a day of rest. I have hypothyroidism, so losing this weight is going to be harder than most. Oh, one of my feral cats is named Jillian after the Biggest Loser physical trainer.
Sharon: The synthroid is supposed to help regulate your thyroid, not help take the weight off. I've been hearing some good things about Armour, which is a natural thyroid med. I cannot seem to get my doctor to transfer me over though because it's made out of pig instead of synthetic medicine. He's from India and I'm guessing his religious views are getting in the way.
Mary: If you want time with husband I have you beat. I've been with my husband since I was three years old. He, in reality, is my step uncle. It kind of freaks the kids out, and they start singing "I Am My Own Grandpa", but it's funny and they are used to it now.

My name is Robert, I just moved into the Milwaukee area a little while ago. I am the weekend TV news director for channel 4. I started losing weight on my own about a year ago working out and working out and working out and it was working. I dropped over 40lbs on my own, but recently I have hit a wall and have become frustrated at my extended stay at 230. I have recently decided that I need to take a more active look at what I actaully eat so I joined Calorie Count.
Well I finished this week with counting every day. 5 days good 2 not so good. Sure opens your eyes on what you put in your mouth. I went for a walk today it was nice out today. 40's Lots of melting snow. Wish this was the end of winter. Not likely.

Hi my name is Kim and I'm from the Milwaukee area, I'm 34 and a mom of 2.
My goal weight is 122 by May 9th, 2009
I started at 138 and I weigh 132 now.
I'm 5'3 3/4th
Don't you find it hard to motivate in the cold Wisconsin winters?
Kim,
That's the truth. There have been plenty of days that I dont feel like getting up and going the gym because I just dont want to deal with it. I have a picture of myself when I was 50lbs more than I am now which is the best motivation for me to keep going, but its tough.
Question though, why May 9th, 2009?
-Robert
