Welcome to the Group
Welcome! We would love get to know you, so please tell us a little bit
about
yourself. You can choose any format you'd like, but most of us here
share some
or all of the following details:
1. History with weight loss:
2. History with Calorie Count:
3. Reason for joining this group:
4. Some interesting details about yourself,
such as
your job, your family, your pets and your interests:
And now just go ahead and make that first post!
WELCOME EVERYBODY!!!!!!
I guess I'll start with meeeeeee!
1. I never really worried about it, that is, until I reached almost 170lbs.... yikes. Then I've been beating the battle slowly... I have lost 14 pounds total, but that has been really an unfocused process. Now I am really taking charge and getting my S*** together, if ya know what I mean!
2. Well, I started last year sometime, but I kind of fell off the wagon... now I'm back. I'm hoping the fact I have started this group and have to keep track of it , that it will help me stay motivated, and motivate others!
3. Ummm... I think that's self-explanatory....
4. I love to sing, I have a black cat named Page... I am learning Spanish!!!!
Hi,
Well I have calorie counted since December last year and stoped about 3 months ago. I lost about 20lbs in that stint. I found this site and decided to get started on loosing the last bit I want to loose.
I live in a small coastal community in Queensland Australia called Elliott Heads. My weigh in's might have a slight time difference due to me being in Oz - but I weigh in on Monday anyway so that fits in good :)
I am a bit confused over weight loss showing on the scales when your doing training and building muscle as muscle weighs more than fat.... What exercise does everyone do?
Good luck everyone.

Well, everyone says, and is right, about muscle weighing more than fat. Still, if you see that you are becoming more toned, yet a pound is dropping here and there, then you know that you're going in the right direction. Even though we have weigh ins here, I don't live by the scale... the best way of measuring, I find is by photos and actual measurments/sizes! *in my gallery I have my start date photos*
Glad to have you join!
1. History with weight loss: I was 165.4 lbs in Apr 2006; joined Spark People and lost weight by my wedding ; I was 136 lbs on nov 4, 2006; then lost some more but since Aug 2007 I've been stuck at 127-130 lbs.
2. History with Calorie Count: lurking around , but not exactly committed; still use Spark People
3. Reason for joining this group: to stop bouncing up and down
4. Some interesting details about yourself,
such as
your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I'm a full time travel writer for a US company, I'm married but no kids, I've got 2 budgies as pets; Besides writing I'm interesting in traveling and photography
Hi all!
1. So, hmm, where to start. I guess, I was skinny (size 3-4) in high school and gradually moved up to a size 10-12 in the next ten years, slowly most of the time, but accelerated when I moved in with my unnaturally skinny, crap-eating boyfriend.
2. Anyway, I first found calorie count right after law school, but I only used it for a few weeks, and then stopped. Now, a couple years later, I realized I was at my highest weight (155-160ish) and looked horrible! I'm only 5'2'' and very small framed, so that weight was pretty unattractive. So, I got religion, so to speak: I changed my eating habits back to my pre-live-in-boyfriend days, and then some (little to no meat, no dairy, no white flour, no articifical sugar, etc.), and I've been (mostly) happily logging calories and losing weight since late june/early july.
3. I'm down now to a pretty satisfactory 135, but I'd like to lose those last 10 lbs to be at my "ideal weight." At one lb/week - I can reach that by my birthday in November, and I think that would be a very neat birthday present. So, I'm coming out of lurking mode, and hoping for some motiviation in these next few months.
4. Interesting details? Not so many: I'm a lawyer, I live with another lawyer. We are exceptionally dull, mostly :-) We do like to camp whenever we can, and are actually camping in the Keys this weekend...
Hey everyone!
So I just turned 26 and I am 5'1 and a half (can't forget that half). I was always called 'The Little One' and suddenly that nickname stopped and turned into 'The Chubby One'. Although no one ever said that out-loud thats what happened. I always was around 110lbs up until about 2 years ago, certain things happened, I started binge eating and I hit 139lbs!! I saw myself in a pic after a vacation in DR and I looked so horrible! My bone structure is pretty small and a lot of it went to my face and lower body. I also used to have abs..yes an actual 4pack tummy that is now gone and I want it back. This weight makes me really depressed and anti-social which is not how I used to be. In the past few months I've managed to get down to around 129-130lbs. My goal weight is 105-110lbs. I'd like to keep some curves..I actually don't mind the booty ;)
In the past I was eating around 1000cals/day..even around 800 at times and I always wondered why I could never break 110lbs. Plus I have always had big thighs, child-bearing hips (I was told) and a big behind for my slight stature. I think it was because I never ate enough. I started yesterday and will be eating around 1400 on my workout days and 1200ish on my non-workout days.
My next vacation is to Cuba with my sister the first week of December so my goal is to be down to around 120lbs by then. Not slim by any means (for my height I mean) but better then where I am now. This is going to be really good for keeping me accountable..having to weigh in every Monday. Thank-you for making this group!
Heather
kaleburn, I'm also 5'2" and we are abt the same weight as well:) I'm struggling to stay below 130 lbs and around 125 lbs but so far it's been a strugle lol
Hi cricket! Happy to find someone in the same boat as me! Or rather, near the same boat as me. If only I can find a way to step of the 135 plateau boat and join you....
Hello, I'm Colby. I'm 22, 5'3 and currently 157lbs. I look forward to interacting with you all :>
1. History with weight loss: My weight has been an issue my entire life, although I was never terribly overweight until my sophomore year in high school (150 by then), but I had been chubby before that. I started trying to lose weight in high school, but I could never stick to an eating plan (though I did lose weight from taking P.E. and exercising at home) so I was never satisfied with the results I did have, because my eating was never under control.
I spent my time from high school through college trying various things, losing a little, gaining it back, and never sticking to anything seriously. Once I got over 200lbs in January of '07, I decided I needed to be more serious about it if I wanted to see results. I changed my eating habits completely for a while, eating mostly fresh food and things I cooked myself. I also biked and jogged a lot. I have struggled over the last year and a half, my eating has had its ups and downs and I find a lot of ways to shrug off exercise, but I'm still happy that I've lost around 50lbs. I want to get down to my goal weight (somewhere between 120 and 110 I think) without too much slacking off this time around, though, so really I want to be there in about 6 months, not another year and a half.
2. History with Calorie Count: I've been here since January of '07, because at that point I finally decided to start tracking my calories. I had always been too lazy to do so before that, but reading up on healthier lifestyles made me realize how important it was to know exactly what I was putting in my body so that I could make healthier choices. My favorite part of CC is the challenges, because those tend to help my motivation when I'm more or less at a standstill (as I have been for the last couple months.)
3. Reason for joining this group: I decided to join because I like tracking my weight with a group of people, I find it helps me keep accountable (both in eating and exercise) if I have to post it where others will read it, and seeing the progress of others is really inspiring. I'm hoping this will help jumpstart my loss again :> Knowing that I want to show some loss every Monday should be helpful in itself.
4. Some interesting details about yourself: I'm a licensed amateur radio operator (aka a Ham XD); I was a double-major Psychology and Computer Science student in college (though I left early for financial and family reasons, I want to go back for something in the English field though the sciences are still tempting); my hobbies include: writing - short stories mostly - this November will be my third year doing NaNoWriMo, polymer clay sculpting, sewing, jewelry making, teaching myself to draw, and participating in three clubs (a book club, sci-fi club in which I am an officer, and a ham radio club.)
Hi! Um, I joined a couple days ago but haven't posted soooooooo.... anyway, I'm Kizzi!
1. History with weight loss. Oh, I have a LONG history with weight loss. Or, rather, failed... weight loss. Haha. I've lost a bit in the past but I've put it on and more again. (Strangely I'm somehow wearing smaller pants now than ever, though. Who KNOWS what that's about.) I'd like to lose quite a bit - upwards of 20 pounds, but I've set a mini-goal for myself - 7 pounds by my birthday (right before Halloween), 15 by Thanksgiving, and 20 by Christmas (I'm in another group of college students looking to lose for the holiday season, so I'd ideally hope to be down to 125 by that point).
2. History with CC. I joined CC about a week ago, and I think it's been SO helpful. Everyone here is so supportive and there are people dealing with the same issues as me all over the place so we can all keep each other motivated. :) Anyway, I'm really happy to have found it and hopefully it'll work for me like it has for everyone else here! I joined basically because I was dealing with eating 900-1200 calories a day, and wondering why I was plateauing at 145. Since then, I've increased to 1200-1300 when I work out with my Wii and 1300-1500 when I hike.
3. Reason for joining this group. Well, I'm short! Hehe. 5'3.75" and I weigh much too much for that height.
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests. Well, I'm 18 years old, and I'm a full-time university student. I'm pretty much obsessed with Japanese, and I LOVE singing. I'm a Philadelphia native, so one of my favorite pasttimes is watching Eagles games and, of course, the lucrative Philly cheesesteak. XD! I'm excited to be with you guys here, yay!
Hi Kizzi, welcome to the group.
I am a full time uni student as well. What are you studying? I am doing Engineering.
Before I forget: Chiquita, I can totally relate to you when it comes to our body types!
1. History with weight loss: I've always watched my weight, ever since I can remember. I've never been successful at dieting, but luckily I seem to have been blessed with a small waist regardless of how much I gain. (Or am I cursed? It all ends up in my arms and thighs!) I haven't owned a scale in over a year (I tend to get obsessive) so I'm not sure where I am weight wise, but I'm guessing 115. My highest ever was three years ago when I briefly hit 131.
2. History with Calorie Count: Been on and off this site for years! I had a different username, but when it switched over to the new version I decided I should start again with a clean slate.
3. Reason for joining this group: I'm excited to get to know other vertically challanged people! I'm somewhere between 4'11 (and a half!) and 5'. My boyfriend swears I'm 5'2, but he's crazy. Regardless, I'm sick of saying "Oh my, I need to lose some weight" and then being yelled at because people don't understand that weighing 120 when you're 4'11 is bordering on the line of unhealthy. They look at the numbers and flip!
HI! My name is Lexi. I am excited about this group.
1) I have lost about 45 lbs over the past 2 years. Well I lost it in about a year and I have been maintaining for 2 years. I would like to still be losing. I started about after a terrible freshman year at 179. Today I weigh between 135 & 140. I hit 129 briefly but I was not healthy then. I am in recovery from disordered eating behaviors. So be patient with me...I'm trying to be :) I would like to be 123. Oh I am 5 ft 3.5in...
2) I have joined Calorie Count before but decided to start anew with a new name and new stats. I love using it when I can remember. I like to write down my intake and exercise in a small notebook but I get my data from here.
3) I joined this group because I am a shortie and I love making short term goals. Sometimes 123 seems so far away but if I just reach for 135 next Monday it seems attainable. I hope I can make friends from here. Losing weight alone is lonely :(
**Also, I am a very busy graduate student. I teach group fitness classes 7 times a week. I have just started running...very slowly. I also just ordered p90x. I am very excited about it. It should be here next Wednesday. I will tell you about it.
Hey everybody! I'm Brandi!
I got started with Calorie Count by a co-worker, we have begun an employee weight loss challenge. It is great having people with me on this journey, it's a tough road I've been down before unsuccessfully.
I am a mother of 3 ages 11, 9, and 2 and they keep me busy! I have a great husband who is very supportive in my weight loss goals.
I have never really lossed the weight after I started having children. I have been up and down but never been able to keep it off.
I've began my challenge 2 weeks ago and so far have been doing pretty good, lossed 5 pounds so far!
Getting started is easy though, it's the sticking with it I have the problem with!LOL
Hello all,
Glad to see a group in which I fit perfectly: I'm 5'0" and I'm hoping to get to between 105-110 lbs. which is where I've usually been until about two years ago.
1. History with weight loss: I'm pretty good once I get "in the groove." It's getting into it that's the hardest part. Since I hit my 40s I've had a couple of times that I've had to get serious about losing extra pounds, but I haven't ever been seriously overweight -- my high is around 125. Right now I'm at 119.
2. History with Calorie Count: I tried it last spring but was traveling too much to keep track of what I ate on the food log. This time I'm staying put so expect a better run of it!
3. Reason for joining this group: You all are my size!
4. Some interesting details about yourself,
such as
your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I'm a full-time professor of creative writing (poetry) and run a small publishing house as well. I'm 16-years married, have a great dog (pictured--he's a therapy dog who visits hospitals two or three times a week), and enjoy being outdoors (cycling, hiking, x-country skiing when I can).
Heya all!
1. History with weight loss:
Err not much I guess, I started my first diet at 16 when I wanted to get lean and mean for karate, it was more of an overall thing rather than just weight loss, but I did get down to 49kg :)
Now it's more weight loss because I'm either too sedentary, binging during exams, stressing too much of hypothyroidism and not enough exercise, high eing at 55kg, now at 52kg, however my last weight in was the first week of september when I could still weigh in.
Since I'm on a 6 month stint inChina it'll be hard making goals, I have lost an inch since being here, but I'm not intaking enough calorie wise yet.
So tha would be my now goal!
2. History with Calorie Count:
Joined this year in july to find ways to better my way of eating and learn how to count, by adding 300kcal to my intake i managed to lose 3kg, so thankyou CC
3. Reason for joining this group:
A place to stay and chat and compare notes while also feel motivated to venture out and make the effort to improve my diet?
4. Some interesting details about yourself,
such as
your job, your family, your pets and your interests:
I'm a student in translation, studying english, chinese and french, i love reading, learning new things, exploring, cooking, arts and crafts, sport and heck, a lot of stuff really :) i'm 21 years old and 1m50 :)
Hi - I am hoping this group didn't die off, because it is a great idea. Just in case there is anybody still out there following this thread, I am going to enter my info.
1. History with weight loss: Been on and off diets since I weighed 44 lbs. (really, I am serious!)
2. History with CC: I joined in May of 2007 I think. Lost weight, maintained for a while, lost weight, gained a bunch back due to complete inactivity with a back injury, am losing again steadily after having hernia surgery combined with a tummy tuck.
3. Reason for joining: Its just nice to hear about other shorties.
4. Some interesting details...: I am fourty years old. I had gastric bypass five years ago, and did great for the first three years. I have been married for 20 years and have five children (ages 19, 17, 14, 11 and 8. Boy, girl, girl, girl, boy). We have two horses, chickens, a ferret, three guinea pigs, two dogs and four cats for pets. I am a branch manager of a public library, which is the greatest job ever! I am interested in reading, gardening, walking for exercise and anything Christ centered.
