Hi, my name is Anna, i'm 55 years old and have been on the weight loss roller coaster for almost 30 years. I'm new here at Calorie Count and joined in another attempt to lose weight and keep it off. I've lost many times but have eventually gain it back and more. I'm married, am a Direct Care Specialist and I am most interested in developing my spirtual life. The reason I joined this particular group is I have had psoriasis since I was 13 years old and was curious as to whether there are others like me on here. I look forward to getting to know all of you and hearing your stories.
Hi Anna! Welcome.
I am sure there are lots of others in the same boat as you, but I am not one of them. Somehow I was assigned this group even though I have no skin conditions.
However, since I anticipate that a lot of people will benefit from talking and making friends with others, I am looking for someone to become a moderator of this group.
Would you like to take it over?
Best regards,
---Kayvan

Hello all. I'm alyssa. I'm 19 years old (as of thurs!) and i'm almost to my goal weight. i started calorie count in july and have been very successful with it. the reason i joined this group is because back in may my skin started to break out and hasn't improved since. i would consider my acne moderate and would love tips from anyone on how to help clear it up!
I just joined because I need help with the last leg of my weight loss goals, I have reached a plateau and need motivation. I have moderate acne with excema and have in general just very sensitive skin. Right now I am using Neo-Medrol for the cyst like acne (only; spot treatment) that I get about once a month and Clindoxl Gel every other day (everywhere) befor I go to bed. This seems to be working Really well so far.
Hi everyone. My name is Lisa. I joined this group to meet others like myself. I am a singer/performer. I am in front of a lot of people and I need to lose the weight after having 2 kids. I also have acne but I would like to heal my acne without taking medication. I always get bumps in the exact same place, how frustrating. They leave these dark blemishes I hate!!! I'm trying to put healthy things in my body to see if that will help my complexion. Time will tell.
Hi my name is Isla.
I am from New Zealand and living in Austria, married and trying to lose my relationship weight. We have been together for a year and I have gained 10kg in that time ( around 20lbs) I used to have really bad cystic acne but it was pretty muh cured by IPL laser treatment about a year ago. I now only get small blemishes mostly but they still annoy me, especially because I get them more when I work out. Trying to drink more water and stay healthy and have learnt that very carefully washing my face with a gentle soap after excercise prevets bad breakouts.

Hi,
I'm Lekshmi, 26 years old. I just joined this site yesterday, and already find it very useful.
I've acne problem. At first the medicine comes to use, when I start with it, but later it proves to be in vain. I've allergies for almost everything. I can't use any creme or powder, but then I can't avoid those also.
Anybody knows if being vegetarian helps?
please help!
Hi there
My name is Sami and I just joined this group today and it seems pretty awesome. Im trying to lose 15 pounds and I have a little acne.
Anyway in response to your question, I recently went vegetarian for the health benefits, and it did seem to help my skin. But, I don't know if that was because of not eating meat. Anyway it's worth a shot. If you love meat, than don't do it, but if youre willing to give it up, go for it :) Good luck! xxoo
Hi,
Thanks dear for your reply. I was a vegetarian till my 20th age and then I had no pimples as well. But now it appears like every month I get one or two acne and by the time it heals the next one appears :)
I'm 26 now, and can't survive without meat. But if its worth trying, I want to try anyway.
when I was 15-16 age I was bubbly. But that doesn't mean I was fat. But at 18 - 22 I was really slim. At 22 I've started to go to a fitness centre, and I can say that was when I started to gain weight. I had an accident in the fitness studio and then was asked to take a rest for 4 weeks. From then onwards the weight just increased on a monthly base. And now struggling hard to reduce weight. Now I'm 69 kgs. I can't say I'm looking bad or better, but I want to be slim. Also we are planning for our first baby in 2 years, so I thought its important to reduce some 15 kilos before pregnancy.
I'm a software engineer, but now have enough time to control my food and do some exercises because I'm working from home now.
I've joined Calorie count just one week before, and it is working perfectly till now.
I'm an Indian, and now staying in Germany with my husband for our job. And I've no pets till now, though I would like to hae a cat at sometime later.
I've joined this group because I've acne, may be not acne but pimples, as I said already, it comes every month without fail. May be I eat a lot of chocolates, but I think I can't avoid it as well. :)
And history with weightloss-- I've joined vlcc in India last January and continued till March end. I lost about 8 kilos during that period. I was 75 then and I came to 66-67. And in one year I've gained 2 kilos and now I'm 69 again. I hate this, I can't starve to deah and still I need to reduce about 15 kilos before getting pregnant!
I'm not sure if its possible.! But I'm still trying.
Hi, I'm Lauriene. I joined this group because suddenly (in the past 3 months) I have gotten really bad facial acne, mostly on my forehead but also a little on my chin. It started very small, then just kept growing and growing. I finally saw a dermatologist recently and got some medication, but I just don't know what's caused this insane outbreak. The only reason I can think of is, I have played very competitive soccer for all my life, up until August, when I tore my ACL. I kept active up until surgery in September, but recovery has been somewhat slow since then. As a result, I haven't worked up a good sweat (even after an hour on the exercise bike... I guess it's just not enough!) since then, and I've been wondering if that had something to do with the sudden outbreak. Nothing has been helping so far, though I started the dermatologist regime a few weeks ago.
Anyone know if lack of exercise/sweat can cause sudden outbreaks of bad acne?
This site looks really helpful.
Hi, I'm Emily. I'm 25 and have had acne since I was a teenager. I've been on Dianette (which made me depressed and put on about a stone in weight) and other medications but find it difficult to permanently shift the spots. I'm getting married this year and I'm finding the acne is stopping me from looking forward to the wedding - so I've joined this group to get some support and to hear from anyone who might have tried different treatments that I haven't.
I've never been really overweight but I did put on weight whilst on dianette and have since lost it through exercise. I've joined the calorie count in order to maintain my weight and to track my exercise regime.
I'm a PhD student, studying Shakespeare. I live with my fiance who is doing a masters and we are both looking forward to getting jobs in September and having some money!
Hey! Im Stasya. I'm 17 (Almost 18!) I've suffered from mild eczema all my life but when I was 14 it suddenly flared into very very bad eczema. I didn't even wanna leave the house for school some mornings. In recent months its calmed down a bit but my skin is still nowhere neae how it should be. I also suffer from moderate acne on my forhead (I just cant win, can I? haha)
I joined calorie could because im currently 9st 11 and 5ft 7, I'd love to lose a stone.
Im a level 9 gymnast and a gymnastics coach as well as playing badminton. I speak fluent Russian and live with my dad and brother!
I'd love to meet other people suffering with eczema and find out how they live with it and treat it as everything we've tried has been useless. My dermotologist is even baffled.
Hi, my condition sounds a lot like lisasangs (above). My skin had been fine all the way through my teenage years but last may/june, I suddenly started to get horrible under-the-skin lumps on my cheeks.
Like lisasangs, they do seem to always be in the same places and get worse every month with my period (but never completely disappear, just stop being painful and so pronounced). They get so protruding and painful I can't help but pop them (I know you're not supposed to!) and am left with marked skin for months afterwards after they've healed over.
I am trying natural progesterone cream as it is clearly linked to hormones and think it may be an oestrogen allergy. only in my first month so will let you know how it goes!
Laltr -
New to this site - but I have the same issue - never had an issue as a teen - but apparently, now at the age of 38 - i'm battling acne! last Summer it started at 37, and every month is progresses - only on the cheeks!!!! I wasn't having luck w/ the benezol perox/salyic acid method of cleaning - seemed to make my skin worse - too harsh? But I did notice that if I was dedicated to a daily ritual of exfoliating soap (Aveeno) morning and night, followed w/ a soy lotion(Aveeno) - seemed to reduce symptoms. But i've had the rosey cheeks for a year come august if it still stays around!!!! I did see a huge relapse when i stopped my deligent routine. And yep, around the onset of my periods - horomone related - it would flare up.
On a lighter note, someone told me it may only be around for a year...so here's to waiting it out or hearing some good news from someone out there!
Now on my second month of natural progesterone and I think it might be helping, but still a bit early to say. Will let you know if it works!
I have had mine for nearly a year now so am really hoping you are right with that, Jacqueline!
yay! I guess i'll be running out to my doctor!!! did you go through a dermotologist? or your general doc?
Neither! Went to the doctor, and the idiot tried to put me on antibiotics for goodness sake! (that were also in geletine capsules, after I told him I was vegetarian!) Doctors don't know, or care, about anything!
It was my mum who first noticed that the problem was monthly and recognised that I had had something similar when I was a baby and was being breast fed (after giving birth, a woman's oestrogen levels go back up, and I was having an 'allergic' reaction to that).
She recommended I try Natural Progesterone cream, which is not tested on animals and is paraben free (a harmful chemical added to most creams etc).
I order mine from:
http://www.nhmworldwide.co.uk/acatalog/Natura l-Progesterone-Products.html
I get Emerita Pro-Gest but there are different makes. You will have to follow the instructions for pre-menapausal women, as the treatment is different after the menapause.
Like I said, my face hasn't completely healed yet (I'm only in my second month of using it and your body has to adjust to the hormone rebalance and will try and counteract it at first by producing more oestrogen) but it is definitely much better than it was and I am hopeful it will keep improving!
Best of luck!
