And now just go ahead and make that first post!
Let me start by telling you alittle about me. I have been married for 11 years to a bueatiful wife and we have had 2 wonderful children. My weight gain began 5 years into our marriage when my wife was pregant with our first child. She craved Mexican food daily! I also enjoy Mexican food and the rest is history.....She gained 50lbs and I gained 60lbs. Baby came she lost hers and mine has hung around.
Nothing changed 3 years later when my daughter was born. I gained the other 40lbs.
I am an Operations Manager for a large distribution warehouse (stress) and my wife is a stay at home mom.
I currently weigh 275lbs. I want to lose 75lbs.
I created this group in an effort to meet individuals with the same issues who can help support me and likewise gain support from me.
Hey! I am 32 yrs old and have been trying to loose weight for the past 6 years. I have yo-yoed on every diet know to man, but my fitness instructor suggested this site so I thought "why not, I have tried everything else?" So here I am. I really I need to loose about 55 pounds (currently at 202). My biggest issue is I am really motivated to start something, but then loose motivation to finish. If I don't see result with in the first few months I get bored and give up. well that is a little about me.
Hey to both of you and thanks to jax for starting the group. I am 30 and have always had to "watch" my weight. I've never been this heavy before though. 5'6" and 225 to start. I lost the first 25 lbs as soon as my daughter was born but the rest has been a real battle. My husband is a stay at home dad so I go to work all week at a nuclear plant and then drive an hour to get home. I recently joined a gym to give me some financial incentive to get going. I'm really frustrated with how slowly the weight is coming off. I try to make sure that I stay at my "goal" for calories per day and it takes me almost 2 weeks to lose a single pound. I wonder what I am not doing right. It's getting harder to justify spending an hour or two at the gym instead of playing with my baby. She's just over a year and I missed her first steps because I was working late hours at the plant. Right now I work six days a week and have to get up at 3am to get to work by 5am. By the time I'm done at the gym it's nearly 5 pm and she goes to bed around 7. How have you dealt with the time constraints? I'd really appreciate any tips you can give me. Thanks again
My hours are similar and my wife is a stay at home mom. I had a membership at a gym and had the same issues. So I made a change. I stopped going to the gym and instead started walking with my wife and 2 kids daily around the neigborhood. We walk 2 miles a day. Not only am I exercising, but I am also spending time with the family.
I changed my eating habits 4 weeks ago, added the walking daily, and started drinking nothing but water and I have lost 15lbs over the past 4 weeks. I am now 260lbs!
My eating habits use to be eat nothing for breakfast, go out for lunch and eat fastfood, come home and eat a large dinner and snack until bed. Now I eat a cereal bar at 5am (120 calories), another at 8:30am (120), I eat a Lean Gourmet meal (240), and I eat a cup of whatever my wife cooks for dinner (300-400). If I am hungry after 6pm I eat a large dill pickle (5) or 2. My body burns 3300 calories a day and I am taking in a 1000 or less daily, coupled with burning 300-500 calories walking with the family.
This diet is not hard on the budget either, off brand cereal bars $2.50-$3.00 for a box of 12, Lean Gourmet $1.99 to $2.99 per meal.
So basically I eat 5 times daily in very controled amounts. Give it a try!
Hi! My name is Heidi and I am a 28...for a few more days...year old with an amazing husband and son. I work full time but also am the chauffeur for my sons sports. I grew up thin and was pretty active. That has changed a lot in the last couple of years. I have come to the realization that I stopped taking the time to care for myself.
I have done CC off and on for a few years and have had some success with it. I still haven't been feeling great about myself so I am back! 6 weeks ago I started a fitness class every Monday which I love. It has motivated me to keep moving. I now try to walk/jog at least 6 miles a week and I am going to be adding on another class on Wednesday nights. My ultimate goal is to train for a triathlon and feel great about not only the strength I have gained but feeling confident in how I look too.
I would love to be a part of a group that would help to keep each other motivated and supported.
Welcome to our group! It takes a lot to care for a family and it is easy to let yourself go. I finally realized that by letting myself go it was actually hurting my family! If we feel better about ourselves our families will benefit.
Feel free to join our weekly weigh in!
I'm new here, and am trying to lose an overall of 80 pounds, but starting small...with a goal of 10. ten at a time shouldn't be too hard right? I've been married almost six years and have a beautiful baby boy of two. I am a stay at home mom, so you'd think I'd have loads of time to work out.....wrong!! I try to fit in a half hour workout consisting of 20 minute jogging on the treadmill with a ten minute incline walk while he is watching Thomas. (guilt guilt....for letting my kid watch tv while I exercise). I keep telling myself that taking care of myself is the first step in taking care of my family. I have a family history of heart disease, and don't want to fall to the same fate (which is the road I am on). I am trying to limit my calorie consumption to 1500 per day as recommended. Hopefully something will give!!
