My application might need second review because while Im not really Sci Fi, I am totally TOS trekkie.  I didnt grow up with it, only became a fan within the last year but its addicted me. Went to 2008 and will 2009 convention, already have a small Spock collection so Im thinking my intensity should be taken into consideration for my group membership.
Tongue out

Don't be silly!  I created it because there wasn't anything for the broad title of "SCIENCE FICTION..." but you don't have to be in to everything!  :D  I haven't watched much original series myself (I remember one episode in perhaps the first season reguarding a rather ominous spinning cube...).  Spock is pretty great though!  My high school philosophy teacher was a fan, and he had a cardboard Spock in the classroom (and often was a Vulcan for Halloween...).  Are you into the movies with the original cast at all?

I'm really more of a fantasy nut myself!

Barbara Hambly - Dragonbane

Ann McCaffrey - The White Dragon

Arthur C. Clark - Ender's Game

I'm a big fan of the original Star Trek - I grew up with it and I do like the Next Generation (Spock Rules!), the X-Files, the Dresden Files (Which was canceled, grr!), Brimstone (Canceled), American Gothic (again: canceled), New Amsterdam (Guess what? Canceled!) and I like Harry Potter... but only because of Snape. Otherwise, I'd boil the sniveling little pest in oil.

I'm not so heavily into Sci Fi/Fantasy that I go to conventions or dress up...

The newest Star Trek... I managed a few glimpses (Before we canceled our DTV), and it had Scott Bakula in it. Everyone else was great, but Bakula's a wienie. ;-)

I've been known to read some Asimov here and there, a bit of Bradbury, a tad of Donaldson. My intensity is not that, er, intense. But I do enjoy Sci-Fi and Fantasy on occasion.

Yes, it seems like they cancel most of the good shows (like The Lone Gunmen! *laughs,* well it was no piece of artistic brilliance, sure...).  I saw a few episodes of the Dresden files, liked it pretty well.  Seen any Millenium?

Oh and smwhipple, I could be wrong, but I think Orson Scott Card wrote Ender's Game.  Either way, if you like fantasy you should check out his book Enchantment, it's a big fav of mine.  I'm pretty new to the fantasty genre, any recommendations?

I think I saw a few episodes a few years ago... I thought it was interesting.

I also got the first season of the new Battlestar Galactica, and that was pretty nice...

I have to agree, they cancel so many of the good shows. I am almost afraid to start watching the new shows because they always get cancelled by the time I get hooked. Stargate Atlantis is cancelled for next season! That sucks. I am hoping that Santuary makes it.

Anyway, I told my husband that I joined the sci fi group on CC. I said that for my "initiation" I have to put a tin foil hat on him (my husband) while he is sleeping to see if I can pick up any alien communications...ha ha ha . He asked me "Are you kidding?" like he wasn't really sure! What a goof. I should get out the tin foil tonight and put it in our bathroom just to freak him out.

Hee hee hee... that would be really funny!

Hi!! This is great!  Happy to be here.

Hey V!  Welcome!

Have you seen the Stargate movie?

-Dayna

Hey Dayna!  Do you mean the first one (pilot movie)?  I've seen that one.  I haven't finished the series (took a break to re-watch DS9 and TNG) so I haven't seen anything after the midpoint of the series... I plan to go back to SG-1 when I've finished rewatching TNG (I tend to watch dvd's of the entire series).

Ummmm...  I don't know if it was the pilot movie or not, but it was the first one, with Kurt Russel and James Spader.  I love that movie!  I never really got into the series because I liked the fuzzy peach feeling the happy ending of the movie gave me.

Yup - that's the same one.  I love that movie too! I know what you mean about the happy ending!

Silicone, or Carbon based? Tell you when the scientists get back to me.

I llike Sci-Fi. Right now I am leaning more towards Japanese Tokusatsu (Ie. Ultraman), but I like most Sci-Fi (not ST:TOS, it was just too boring.)

I also enjoy a plethora of other things to many to list though.

Ah, best group ever..!

I love Star Trek, not so much the original (although I grew up watching it). Love TNG, but for me, Voyager is best!!Would love to live in America just to go to a proper convention.

Am also a huge John Carpenter fan? Anyone else??

Basically, I love mostly all science fiction (except star wars cos the acting's crap, but not in a cool way, like in Buck Rogers...) and enjoy reading it as well - just finished 'Altered Carbon' which was excellent... yay cyber punk!

*opens hailing frequencies*

I'm a trekkie (TOS, TNG, Enterprise), I like CLASSIC star wars, Serenity, Babylon 5, Stargate SG1 (and the original movie), X-Files and all forms of fantasy realms (legend anyone?  back before Tom cruise was coo-coo).

Hy husband and I are D&D players (oldschool pencil, paper, dice stuff).  I'm also into zombie fiction (and zombie Haiku), Godzilla, comic books, and that sort of stuff.  And humor - can't forget the MST3K end of it all!  Thanks for making this club - Happy to be a part of it ^_^

(BTW, I'm a pizza based life form since you asked)
