Well I guess I will start (though at this point I'm just talking to myself).

I've struggled with my weight for what feels like my whole life, though looking back, I wasn't actually overweight my whole life, just thought I was.  Then I guess I needed to convince myself I was right, so I went ahead ballooned up to 253 lbs. I've done a ton of diets and even had success with some of them (South Beach and the 20/30 diet), but I always gained it all back and more!

I found CC in 2006 and fell in love with it.  I got down to 165 or so before I took a little side trip off the wagon and gained some back.  At this point I'm around 180 and trying to work my way back down.  It seems harder this time somehow!!

I started this group because I have just found a couple of friends who live in Winnipeg and is really neat to be able to speak the same language when it comes to local things.  Thought it might be neat to find more people!

I'm 31, married with three cats and a dog.  "Do you have kids?"  People always ask because I guess at my age I am supposed to, but well I said I had three cats and a dog, do you really think I have time to chase around a little one besides?  Wink Um no.

I'll join yah in this.  OK so I don't technically live in Manitoba, but I will be moving to Winnipeg in January...because evindently I have a suicide wish, moving somewhere so cold in the middle of winter.  But none the less I am looking forward to it.

I have struggled with my weight since about grade 7 when I became very depressed and found that food can make all my bad feeling s go away.  At my highest, I weighed 215ish and after spending 4 months in the CF I had dropped 30lbs, unfortantely that life style didn't follow me home and I regained 10lbs.  So now here I am I have lost 12lbs so far and am going for another 13.  I'm hoping after that I will be satisfied with what I have achieved.

I found CC by a complete fluke, doing a random Google search for the caloric content of something odd...can't remeber.  After poking around the site and seeing what it had to offer I was hooked.

I joined this group in hopes of getting some tips about how a Victoria BC girl can survive a real Canadian winter, seeing the extent of snow we normally got was 1-6 inches a winter.

I currently am a Commissionaire, but I absolutly hate my job.  I am a trained Health Care Aide, but the great provence of Nova Scotia (that had a slight sense of sarcasim in it) doesn't seem to think that my training is good enough for them.  I am looking forward to being able to do what I am trained for when I get to Winnipeg.  I have no kids but I do have a wonderful boyfriend, and a dog that I unfortantly had to leave with my parents in Victoria when I moved.

Welcome swamp_rat!!  You're a brave, brave girl to move here in January!!  Any questions or advice you need when you get here, or before you come, feel free to ask!!

Very brave, moving here in winter!  (brave or crazy! Laughing )

So about me:

1. History with weight loss:  Used to weigh over 215 pounds, am 5'9" or so.  Decided to lose weight Jan 2006, and have been maintaining at 147ish for over a year and a half now (maybe 2 years?)  More info is in my profile.

2. History with Calorie Count:  Joined pretty much a few weeks after making the decision to lose weight.  First just used it to track weights, then started tracking food and activities.  I try to log things, but sometimes go through periods where I don't make the time or just forget.  Oops!

3. Reason for joining this group:  I live in Manitoba!  :)

4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests:

I work in IT and just got a new job at the U of M.  I am single, live alone, no pets.  I have amazing friends who I see all the time, and a great family (a lot of whom don't live in Winnipeg or Manitoba anymore which is sad).  I love traveling - I went to Europe twice in the last year.  I am planning a trip to Mexico hopefully in January 2009.  I recently started playing indoor soccer, I have been doing Pilates for about 3 years, I took boot camp off and on for about a year, and am looking to start kick boxing with DEB in Jan!  :)

That's about it!  Feel free to add me as a friend.  I do journal pretty much every day, but keep it for 'friends only' since I have had issues with my ex reading it online.  Learned my lesson on that one!! ;)

I agee, very brave!  I would love to leave Winnipeg in the winter, and in fact take my vacation in February and usually end up somewhere HOT!!!

Ok, I haven't been spending too much time on CC lately, but I will tell you about myself,

Weight loss History: Have been overweight my entire life.  At 16 years old I was 255 lbs (yikes) and had lost about 45 or so of those lbs up to age 19.  Then eventually got back up to 225ish.  Maybe a bit more.  About a year ago, lost about 50  lbs with the help of CC, and extreme dedication to the gym and major portion control  Unfortunately, have fallen off the wagon, but climb back on every now and again!  I need to find my way back on and try not to fall off!  I am now about 190lbs, but would like to be back to 170.  Thats a number I am sure I could live with!  One day I will get there.......

CC history:  Googled the calorie content for something and found calorie count, i was hooked for a while, and still log on every now and then to check calories of stuff and see how my 'friends' are doing!

I joined this group because I am from Manitoba!

about me:  I am 29 years old, work at Miseridcordia Health Center.  I am an X-ray tech.  I live with my boyfreind of 4 1/2 years, we have no pets, and no children.  We love to travel (backpacking mostly) and we have been to Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, India, Honduras, El Salvador, Mexico and Cuba, and we are thinking of somewhere in Africa, or South America this February.  Can't wait!

1. History with weight loss:  i have had 2 kids in the last 3 years i gained almost 60 lbs with my 1st and only lost 20 of it before i got pregnant with number 2 with him i only gained 25 lbs but i cant seem to lose any of it i had lost it all but i didnt pay attention and it all came back .

2. History with Calorie Count: i joined a long time ago to use the food log but forgot my username and i rejoined now in Feb.

3. Reason for joining this group: 1st - i live in MB and 2nd - i want to find people who are closer going through the same struggles

4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests:

i am 25 a mom of 2 boys 2 1/2 and 8 months . i have currently decided not to go back to work when my mat leave is up i just found it made no sense with 2 kids . so i have decided to babysit out of my home . i live in a town about 30 mins from winnipeg . i have 2 fish ( cuz they dont require alot of work considering i have 2 kids . i love reading and going for walks and scrapbooking which i also barely have time for anymore

History with Weight Loss: I have been over weight for most of my adult life or at least since my 20's. I steadily gained for a few years, never much but steady. I quit smoking and gained again. Poor self esteem and a over dominant boss made weight loss impossible. I quit that job and went to work in of all places a gym. Nothing like an over weight person working in a fitness enivironment.  Benefits are great, you can work out any time you want. I enlisted the help of a personal trainer who was awesome and instilled in me some great knowledge. I did really well with her and lost about 25lbs. My dad passed away and my routine was upset. I tried to get back to working out off and on over the years but occasionally got side tracked with back pain. I started with WW and lost about 40 lbs over 3 years but got into the routine of losing and gaining until I decide I couldn't focus on how I was feeling not getting anywhere. I've left the gym went to school something I always wanted to do. Regained some much needed confidence. I love my new job.

History with Calorie Count: I was told about this site recently and have enjoyed it a lot. It works well for me.

Reason for joining this group: 1st its local, I live in Wpg. I think it is a great way for find support with people who are in the same area, doing the same things, and having to deal with the same issues like weather and even the grocery stores and restaurants.

About me: I am 51, married, 2 grown children and a dog and cat. Have only recently started to travel but really enjoy it. Like to go camping. Fall is my favorite season.

Hi Legg03, glad you found the manitoba group.  I live in Winnipeg and I love fall too, especially this year with the great weather we have been having.  I added you as a friend, stay in touch!

1. History with weight loss:

I was always a little on the pudgy side, and obesity seems to run in the family. The year after I finished high school, I didn't care about a thing and I gained 30 pounds very quickly. I managed to lose about 20 of that before I met my boyfriend. When I moved out I started to have to transport myself, meaning my bike and walking a lot more, lost about five more pounds. Now I have the motivation to get to a good weight for my height and size, and hopefully stay there and not end up like the ladies in my family who let their weight spiral out of control.

2. History with Calorie Count:

Joined a couple months ago, I like it.

3. Reason for joining this group:

Just curious who's in Manitoba.

4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests:

My job is boring, but I have two awesome cats. I could talk about them for hours, but I won't.
