And now just go ahead and make that first post!
Just like most women my age -- yo yo dieter most of my adult life. Starved myself just to join the military... Spent 26 years in the Air Force, fighting the weight regs the whole time. Retired in 2007, started CC about a month later, and I now weigh less than I did when I join up in 1981... go figure.
I'm a professional swim coach in my "spare" time (which means all my time), and I just started a job as a receptionist in a podiatrist's office, training for Office Manager. I spent my entire career in the Air Force working in the Intelligence arena -- oh, how things have changed
Not from Kansas, but the bordering state of Colorado. Originally from Minnesota, joined the Army to get out of a small town. Stationed in Germany I met and married a wonderful man nearly 27 years ago. I got out of the Army and he went in. Our first son was born very prematurely (27 weeks, 2 lb. 13 oz) shortly after yet another military move, so I did not have family or friends to support me and turned to old reliable FOOD. Put on 60 pounds in the 3 months he was in the hospital. Next son was full term but I still hadn't lost the extra from #1. Third son was also very premature (28 weeks, 2 lb. 3 oz) after we were stationed back in Germany. Mama just continued to nibble herself bigger! Have lost it once before while hubby was in Iraq, put it all back on (plus 12 extra) when he came home and retired. He did the cooking for 8 months and was insulted if I didn't eat it - and he used LOTS of fat. Now I am taking it off again for the last time.
Coach, I know what you mean about fighting the weight regs! I weighed 165 in the Army and my weight limit was 168 - guess they don't figure that some of us have boobs! Calorie count sets my goal as 165 again, but I have raised that to 175 cuz I know how thin I was back then.
Hi everyone, I'm Tamra. I'm 26, married with 2 kids. I live in El Dorado. Moved here just over a year ago b/c I was looking for a change of scenery and my husband (boyfriend at the time) was from here so I followed him then we got married. I was born and raised in KCK. I work as a nurses aide in the hospital here, studying for my application to nursing school. I'm applying for the fall 09 semester. I found this site just by chance. I've heard a lot of good things about calorie counting and I want to get healthy so I googled it and found this site. It's just after 4am and I'm surfing the net. I work the night shift and I'm off tonight so that's why I'm still up :) just wanted to say hi.
