And now just go ahead and make that first post!
1. History with weight loss: I distincly remember the summer between my 5th grade and 6th grade year--I ate the summer away. I gained so much weight that summer. Then, when I was in 8th grade, my mom helped me lose weight. Now that my mother has passed away, I find myself struggling for help. My mother was a nutrionist. When I lost that weight, I was the skinniest I've ever been, I got so many compliments. I was in the beginning of my freshman and sophomore years of high school when I weighed my least. Now, I weigh the most I ever have.
2. History with Calorie Count: I just joined!
3. Reason for joining this group: I need help in managing my calories and I need support. I want to lost 80+ pounds!
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job,
your family, your pets and your interests: I have 2 dogs and 2 cats;
One of the dogs is a rat terrier, the other is a mini eskie. I live in
my mother's old house with my husband; she passed away last December.
We are newly married and I am enjoying it very much!
This is my first attempt at weight loss, having just started on Monday, Nov 3rd. I was skinny all of my life, at 34 I weighed 147 (I know because I was wrestling in a club at the time). In Aug of '98 I decided to quit smoking, one year later I was up to 190. My solution was to start smoking again and drink lots of beer. Two months ago I stopped smoking and started running again. Recently I had my last beer (calorie driven, not involved with AA or any program). I just finished my 5th day of counting calories, staying under 2000 a day. Calorie count is useful for helping me eat with the food in my pantry/frig but I have been branching out. I used to grocery shop quickly, now it takes a little longer because I'm reading the calories. I joined this group to look for healthy, filling, low calorie menus.
Personal detail: Single (divorced 9 years ago), one son who is 19 and lives out of state. Career military, I'll have 22 years of service in a couple of weeks and don't know when I'll leave the service. I weighed 218 on 11/1 and will weigh myself again on 11/10. I don't know if I lost weight or look different, but I don't feel as "full" as I used to.
I have been overweight my entire life. I don't know what it feels like to be thin. I lose 20 lbs., feel great, go back to eating the way I was before I lost the 20 lbs. and then I'm right back where I started. This size feels normal to me. In my head I know it's not right - I need to lose 80 lbs. I don't know how to get past this.
I haven't counted calories since I was 12! Calorie Count is very new to me.
I am a paralegal. Since I had my daughter 5 years ago I work at night so that my husband is home with her while I'm working. We have a golden retriever and I home school my daughter. I have a good life -- I just want to be around to enjoy it for a long time. My Grandma just turned 100!
1. History with weight loss:I have been like a jojo for years. I have had recently had my 2nd back surgey and had been at home for 8 month and gained about 30 pounds. I have been back to work since Oct and it has been coming off again slowly but I know if I don't watch I will gain it again. I also want to stop smoking and at the very least not gain any weight.

Hello everyone! ![]()
I just joined this site and am looking for ways to eat healthy and not groan about it everyday - I want it to be like a new discovery trying new foods and recipes.
History with wt loss, probably like everyone else, lose a few lbs and gain them back. My most success was with weight watchers, but I got a little bored and unmotivated with that, and grew weary of the expenditure.
Anyway - nice to meet everyone!!
Heather
