Well, I am a 34 year old stay at home mom, I have 5 children (16, 7, 5, 4, 2). I have lost 10 pounds so far. I joined calorie count b/c I stummbled on it one day when I was trying to find out how many calories I was consuming.I have kinda hit a road block and have not lost any more weight for the past couple of weeks. My first motivation to TRY to lose weight was b/c I joined a challenge thyat has a cash payout to whomever loses the most (percentage) of body fat for their body.

Hi heathen_no_more!

Welcome aboard. calorie-count is a great place for support and is full of very helpful and positive people.

Tell me a little bit more about what you are doing and maybe I can help.

Best regards,

---Kayvan

First I have a long history of losing and gaining but two years ago I decided I didn't like where I was health and weight wise.  I am 5'1, 42 years old and weighed 235lbs.  I was uncomfortable, miserable and just very unhealthy.

I am currently 151lbs and feel so much better about myself and what I have accomplised, I work out usually 6 days a week and have been very dedicated since joining CC in April, recently I hit a real snag and went on a binge for two weeks, didn't work out ate donuts (like 5 in one day) and just felt awful.  I realized (maybe already knew) I am an emotional eatter.

I am the mother of 6, 3 Grandchildren a husband with MS and pretty much confined to a wheel chair.  I work two jobs, pretty much both full time.

I am hoping that I can get motivation from some of you, I have not beaten myself up for my lapse but would really not like to see it happen again.  My goal at this time is 135.  16lbs and in all honesty it feels like it is attached with superglue and incased in Kevlar so anything motivational will help.

Thanks and Great sucess to all!!!!!

Hi Cath,

You are in the right place. Welcome! You have made a lot of progress (dropping down to your current weight is a great accomplishment), so CONGRATULATIONS!

And the great thing about your recent slip-up is that you realized (maybe re-realized) something about yourself that can help you to avoid that behavior in the future. Again, great job!

We are all in the same boat, to varying degrees, all trying to improve our health and fitness. Keep us updated about what you are doing.

Do you use the logging tools on the site? What does your 6 days a week of exercise look like?

Best regards,

---Kayvan

Thanks for the welcome.

My six day workout schedule roughly is three days of jog/walking for 30 minutes and then swimming for an hour afterwards and the other three are weights, exercise ball, crunches anything to tighten and tone.  I use the tools on the site but only log my exercise and am set at light activity as I walk roughly two to two and a half miles a day with work, and runn around like a maniac in the morning.  LOL

I have heard that you can not target slim down areas but I notice my body had no problem targeting not losing weight or inches in the mid section so I really try to focus on that when I do my exercise ball.

Thanks again for the welcome and Great success to ALL!!!!

Hi,

I am 27 yrs old 5'5" and I weigh about 195lbs. Of course I don't own a scale, so that is an estimate based on my last doctor appointment. I am successful losing weight when I really work at it and stick to my goals. A few years ago I lost 45 lbs on the Curves low-carb diet and working out at Curves. I kept it off for a while but then got into a relationship that I was very happy in and gained it all back. I am now married to that man and still very happy, but have gained even more weight and do not have the will power or time to diet and exercise. I work two jobs totalling about 65 hrs a week with only one day off. It is hard for me to eat right when I am hardly ever eating at home and I cannot find the time or energy to work out. I joined the Calorie-Count website about 6 months ago to prepare for a vacation to California. I was doing good, and my clothes were fitting better but somehow I lost my way. I joined this group, mostly so I won't feel so alone.

That sounds like an awesome workout schedule.

Yeah, targeting slim-down in certain areas generally doesn't work, but I have found that Pilates and Yoga do help to make you seem leaner and taller (because of working on posture and core areas).

Good luck with your goals!

You are definitely not alone.

What were you doing when it was working for you?

I've been on calorie-count for a long time, and I can tell you that one of the best ways to keep motivated about losing weight is to reach out and share your journey with others.

Also, consistency is the key: Even a 15 minute walk each day will make a difference, and you might stretch it out to 20 minutes in the following weeks, but doing it on a set schedule will go a long way to making it a habit.

Feel free to private-message me if you need any help or ideas. I know that you can lose weight, even with crazy work schedules and not a lot of available time.

Best regards,

---Kayvan

Hi Everyone,

I'm 19 years old, and I'm getting married very soon (Yay!) I joined calorie count because I've been overweight all my life, but I'd ballooned a lot over the last couple of years. I'm 5'6" and weigh about 220lbs. My goal is to get healthy of couorse, but I also have the vanity reason of wanting to fit into a pretty dress (The legal wedding is next week, but because of money issues, we're having our ceremony on our first anniversary.)

My weight is embarrassing, and even perfect strangers are making rude comments when I walk by, which is disheartening because I thought that with my recent move to Canada to live with my fiancee I'd have a fresh start and be able to meet adults who would get to know me for who I am rather than avoid me because of my weight. Ha, I guess adults are really just overgrown elementary school children. *Mutters to self*

Anyway, I've done one year of nursing school in Ohio, and I plan to go back to nursing school here in Victoria as soon as I have my paperwork finished. being helathy is important to me because of that, too, because I know I will be able to take better care of my patients if I am healthy and happy myself!

I've a little weight since coming here but we're shopping on a budget, and thanks to a number of issues I can't get out much. Though I am finding ways to add more activity to my day (Did you know that dance dance revolution has a workout mode? I didn't!)

Oh, and I'm very accident prone, currently my usual lightly active lifestyle has been downgraded to sedentary thanks to a severely burned foot, which I really should see a doctor for...but my new fear of cooking with oil will help out my weight loss plans I guess lol

Bad, self-destructive jokes aside, I'm glad to have found this place and I hope I will finally be able to get to a reasonable weight!

Hi Everyone, I'm 48 and have 4 awesome sons. (30, 29, 26 $ 24) I also have 6 wonderful grandchildren. (5 girls and 1 boy). I was married for 17 years when my x decided the grass was greener. The boys and I struggled daily but we came through it. Now I am newly married the the most wonderful amazing man in the world. We've been together 6 yrs and finally got married in Aug. 07. My husband has 2 children so with my 4 and our grandchildren this place gets pretty busy! What a blessing!! We also have a love for animals. At present we have a border collie named Dexter. a cat named Teak, 4 ferrets, Casey, Finnigan, Rafferty and Milo and two fish tanks. I have been a yoyo dieter every since I started my family. I found CC whlie surfing the net for a program that would track my progress. I love it. I have been doing great and it's amazing to keep track of all the things that pass your lips!!! I took a break over the holidays but I'm back with a vengence!!

1. History with weight loss:

It's in my profile.  I packed on the pounds with baby #1 and waited until a year after I had baby #2 to do anything about it.

2. History with Calorie Count:

Joined when I was within 10 pounds of my goal weight.  I like the forums.  I'm not a big fan of counting calories, though.

3. Reason for joining this group:

I'm married and I wasn't in any groups yet.

4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests:

I'm in real estate/finance.  I've been married 8.5 years.  I have two girls (5 and 19 months).  I have one Siberian Husky dog.  I am in school part time, working toward becoming a CPA.  I am planning to set up an apiary and become a hobby beekeeper early next year.

Hey everybody.

I've been married a little over six months. I noticed that right after the wedding I gained about 8lbs. Which for me is a lot.

I started that calorie count family and noticed a change in my eating habits, then I started running. I love it, but lost my motivation to track my food.

I run every other day but my weight is either up 1-2 lbs or it stays the same. So I'm here to keep up on my food log and activity.

It will make me feel better about myself, in turn make me a better wife.

Hopefully I can stick with it. Thanks!

Hello everyone, 52 yr old male here 6ft blue eyes and 365 (but dang handsome LOL), packed on the weight over the years, and now have decided to loose it, I too stumbled on to the site, and find it very nice. I have a hernia operation in a week, and after that I will then be back to exercising, I have been following the up day down day plan, (Google it) and it has been extremely easy to follow, I have noticed after a week I have lost 7 lbs, (will depend on your size etc) but what I like is that you can eat normal foods one day then restrict your intake to 1/4 of what you normally would. Very simple, seems very healthy, lots of back up research, so will see how it goes. Married for 31 years have 4 kids one grand daughter, one more on the way. I love to BBQ and have become very good at it, I cook on a Primo Grill that is made of ceramic, it’s the last grill I will ever own. I can cook all kinds of food from low and slow brisket at 225 for 14 hours to pizza at 500 degrees. I also love to collect stuff around my John Deere model 60 tractor that I am having restored. My dad purchased this tractor new, so it has a lot of sentimental value to me. Had a  dog, wife made me give it up, for the new house, wish I had the old pooch back! Anyway that’s me.

Hey everyone! I am 32 yrs old and have been trying to loose weight for the past 6 years.  I have yo-yoed on every diet know to man, but my fitness instructor suggested this site so I thought "why not, I have tried everything else?" So here I am.  I deally I need to loose about 55 pounds.  My biggest issue is I am really motivated to start something, but then loose motivation to finish.  If I don't see result with in the first few months I get bored and give up.  well that is a little about me.

Well, I am 26yrs old, mom to 5 great kids, on my second marraige, in which I am totally content, and am overweight due to not eating very healthy and having 5 kids in eight years. Yeah, I am a busy girl. I just found this site when i was googling calorie counting, and am really looking for that motivation to become and stay more concious of my health. With 5 kiddos it is important to me that I set a good example, and our bodies are SOOO important to us! I joined this marraige group because i love "comparing notes" with other marrieds, and can sympathize with those suffering through divorce. Mine was atrocious. Oh, I am currently only needing to lose 15-10 lbs, but that seems to be a HUGE hurdle for me. I am hoping with the support and information I will get from this site I can reach and maintain my goal weight.

Hello! My name is Diana, I am 23 years old from New Jersey. I was married in December to a wonderful guy were getting ready to have children. :)

I joined Calorie Count because I have always had a weight problem. Growing up, I was always the "fat girl" and four years ago when I was 19 years old, I woke up, got on the scale and it said 299.7 pounds. I WAS SHOCKED. I decided to get my but in gear and over two years I lost 139 pounds all by myself. At 5'8'' and 160 pounds, I looked great! Recently, I've noticed, my "skinny jeans" are TOO TIGHT! I gained 30 pounds over the coarse of one year. It's like the weight snuck up on me.

I remember how hard it was two years ago to lose the last 25-30 pounds and honestly, I'm a little nervous but I'm ready for the challenge... I want to lose 25-30 pounds before I get pregnant so I can have a healthy pregnancy.

I found Calorie Count while I was searching the web for "How many calories should I be eating." I clicked around the site and saw that it had a support group component so I decided to join. I think it will be nice to talk to others who have the same problems I have... Someone who understands. Last time I went into "diet mode" I dove in alone and I think that's why the weight came back. Everyone always says you need support when you diet and I always tend to keep to myself so I'm looking forward to lose weight with all of you. :)

Hi, I'm Stephanie, I am a 27 and have 3 beautiful children, and I have been married for 8 wonderful years. Having the kids have put extra weight on me, that I want to get off! I lost 100 pounds 6 years ago after my first child, since then I quit smoking(after 10 years) and had 2 more kids. Needless to say I'm 60 pounds heavier. I would love to have support from you guys.

Hello! My name is Nicole, I am 30 years old from Oregon. I have been married for almost four years now and I have two children.

I joined Calorie Count because I saw the website in a magazine and thought I would check it out. My second child just turned a year old and after battling depression for the past year, I am trying to do something for myself to pull out of it. I have started a new job and I have been trying to eat smarter and I walk three times a day during the week. I have lost a lot of weight already from having my baby and I am almost back down to where I was before I got pregnant. Problem is I am not where I want to stay. I was in the process of losing weight when I unexpectedly got pregnant. I had put on weight after I married my husband because I got comfortable and stopped taking care of myself the way I did when I was single.

He says he doesn't care, but I can't help but feel like he should. He likes to feed me and this doesn't help when I am trying to feel good. I am trying to find a healthy compromise for all of us since I prepare most of the meals, but my husband likes his meat and potatoes. It is hard to prepare more than one meal and it is a lot of work for me especially being around food that I have to prepare, but maybe shouldn't eat. Just one of my battles in my journey to being healthy.

Hi! Nancy here.. almost 46 from Ontario. I have been married 26 years and have 3 kids and a dog.

I was in WeightWatchers at 16, very effective, but I can't afford the weekly cost of meetings. I have never been hugely overweight, I just get to the point where I am over the biomass index, and I get really uncomfortable. Having your mom point out from the time you are 4 that you might get fat like her is a real issue.

I started Calorie Count about a month ago, and I love it. It's very helpful, and I find I record my food more truthfully and there's no escaping that total calorie number at the bottom of the page! I just want to get down to comfortable again, I don't want super skinny.

And November's coming. That's when Nanowrimo.org starts their write a 50,000 word novel in 30 days. If I am going to be perched in front of the pc cranking out my word count, you can bet there needs to be a snacking plan prepared, or it will be all out foraging, locust-style!

K thx bai. back to work now.

Hi Nancy! I'm going to do NaNoWriMo this November too. Good luck to you on your weight loss and on your writing!
