And now just go ahead and make that first post!
I am 30 years old and am a Special Education teacher at an elementary school. I am married to a firefighter and we have 15-month old twins. My hubby and I are both overweight and we are counting calories together, which makes it so much easier. We are also accountable to each other and support each other. I have been a member of CC for about 2 weeks now. I joined in the hopes of learning more about healthy eating and to get some motivation and support from others who are trying to do the same thing as me.
I am many things....bored this summer might be one of them.
I am a mom of two boys 10 and 12 who are totally great but don't need me as much anymore...I need to let them be more independent now.
I am a wife to a great guy who is always friendly to everyone, goes out of his way for neighbors and anyone in need of a hand. Loves me to death but somehow doesn't seem to ever want to spend time with me.
I am a teacher (who loves teaching and my crazy teenage students) who is off for summer vacation...I am worried that I won't know what to do with myself all summer - how much can one person read???
I joined this website just because I plan on eating healthy and working out all summer. I think due to all the extra time I have in summer and to the fun stuff that comes along with summer (camping, BBQs, drinks on the deck....) I usually gain some weight in summer. I would like to avoid that this year.
I am looking for anyone in the same boat as me... older kids, hubby that is great but preoccupied, exercise buddy, recipe swapper....
Hi, my name is Jessica. Im a 28 yr old stay at home mother of a 4yr old son. I was searching for ways to gain weight. Ever since i was about 16 i wanted to put on weight. Then i was at 100lbs maybe 105 until i had my son. About 2 yrs after i had my son i put on about 10lbs and my weight usually stays there. It may go down a little but it doesnt go up to much. My weight now is at 120 and i my ideal weight goal is between 130-135lbs. I have been married for 5 yrs and my relationship is stressful. Ive been with him since i was 18 and the stress i go through cause me to skip meals and just not want to do anything besides taking care of my household. So im having a problem figuring out a way to get things done and take time out to eat and excersize right!!
Greetings;
Pete here. I'm in Victoria BC Canada.
1. History with weight loss...
can you say "yo-yo"? Except the string keeps getting longer each time. When I played football in college I was a lean mass 200 pound defensive end. Now I'm a 240 pound non-lean mass with a semi of a spare tire. That said, I'm down from the 255 pound I hit at my peak so far and am doing it much more controlled and carefully right now
2. History with Calorie Count..
Found it on-line, been an on and off user, but am really trying to commit to it this time.

4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests:
I'm the Director of the BC Provincial Learning Network in BC. It's the educational network that connects all computers in all the schools in British Columbia. And while it a technical job mainly, it was actually visits to schools seeing kids learning and EXERCISING, and then thinking about what my 4 year old daughter would see in me every day (come home, make dinner, hit couch, watch TV) that made me realize I wasn't just damaging myself, I was setting her up for challenges in life that she didn't need. I think I finally found the motivation this time.
cheers and good luck all!
Pete
I'm 22 years old and I just had a baby 7 months ago and gained 50 pounds with that pregnancy! I am 5'6" and up until I had my daughter, I weighted about 123 pounds. I now weigh 138 and am having issues with my self esteem because of it. I know that 138 pounds probably doesn't sound very heavy to some of you, but when your husband is in the USAF and is required to work out and maintain himself, you feel really bad when he can eat 3 Whoppers, a large fry, and a large Coke and not gain a pound. I am currently a stay at home mom and don't know anyone where we are currently stationed because it is in the middle of nowhere and we don't live on base! Anyway, I am just trying to get down to my pre-pregnancy weight. I have never tried to lose weight before and I ran across this site trying to figure out nutrition information on the things that I have been eating. So far it's working! Between this site and an awesome 20 minute, high intensity workout video that I've been doing once a day, I've lost a pound in 3 days!! I'm hoping to be down to 123 pounds by New Years, which is going to be hard with Thanksgiving and Christmas coming up!!! Good luck to everyone!!
