And now just go ahead and make that first post!
Hi everyone!
My name is Ilana, I'm 23 years old, my starting & current weight is 205.5 lbs, and my overall goal weight is around 130 lbs (but my short-term goal is 180 lbs).
I've never been thin, but until I went away to college 5 years ago, I never thought my weight was a huge deal. Then I gained the classic "freshman 15" plus an extra 10 pounds give-or-take in the couple years since then. Now I'm unhappy with my appearance and the fact that I tire pretty easily with physical activity. I've struggled off and on with dieting in the past - I'm very good at starting something for a couple days, but not very good at following through.
I initially discovered CC through a friend a couple months ago, I thought it was a great resource and did a little with it, but as my dieting fell by the wayside so did visiting this website. Now I come back to CC with high hopes for my weight loss/physical fitness journey. In addition to CC, I use a handful of other websites, I have a daily journal in which I record my food/drink intake as well as physical activity, and some books with information about various diets and recipes.
I decided to create this group in hope of finding others who have discovered what it's like to workout with the Wii Fit. I was recently able to obtain a copy for myself, and though I haven't been able to follow through with a daily routine yet (though I'm getting better at it) I am already more motivated to workout because it's enjoyable and never the same from day to day.
A little more about me: I'm a nursing student living with my boyfriend (who does his best to be supportive of my weight loss, but doesn't personally understand the journey) and our crazy cat. I enjoy watching movies, playing video games, and reading. But it's late and I have a midterm in the morning (anatomy & physiology lab practical, ouch!), so I'll end this entry for now. I really hope there are others out there working out with the Wii Fit like I am, but I guess only time will tell.
Hello well I am a lifetime dieter and a year ago I decided to quit smoking and gained some weight with it. I have ranged in weight from 95 lbs to 195 lbs and I am just fed up with it. Everytime I have lost weight the wrong way and it would last for a few months and gone again because I have to eat and I was starving myself to get the weight I wanted. I heard about the Wii Fit and thought it would be beneficial in helping me to lose weight because I have a bad back and so many times I won't exercise because of the pain that it causes so instead I would just give up and not do it.
I decided to join CC so I could officially keep track of my daily eating and now I have learned that eating is important to losing weight and without it I will continue to keep yo yo dieting and this time I am going to do it right by working at it and getting there slowly but efficiently.
I am 40 years old have a 21 year old daughter and wonderful husband who love me and have supported me through my whole life and I want to make sure I am here with them to enjoy life in a healthy and happy way so my husband bought me the Wii Fit and I have been only using it for two weeks but have lost 4 lbs. I only started using CC for two days so I know my eating wasn't where it needed to be. I am trying to use this first week to just put down what I eat and try to see where I am making my mistakes so I can fix them. I use the Wii Fit every other day and totally love it.
I also go to school full time but I don't work so that helps me to do my workouts when needed, I just sometimes struggle with motivation to keep going I get very frustrated easy especially if I don't see results.
Hello all. My name is Heather. I have struggled with my weight since my first pregnancy. I was on bed rest and gain a lot of weight then got pregnnt 6 months later and now 8 year and 3 kids later I am still overweight. I and tired of not being able to fit clothes that i want to buy or not being able to see my own feet, LOL.
1. History with weight loss: I have tried to diet before but never really had the support and when life got rough I would cheat on diet and it was easier to eat at fast food then to cook.
2. History with Calorie Count: Since I have joined I have lost 2.2 lbs and love it. I continue to work on it.
3. Reason for joining this group: I am obese and have an 8 year old, 6 year old, and 7month old and want to be able to see them grow up and with the way I am going I wont be here or I will be in very bad shape. My family suffers from Diabetics and I am on the verge of being one and it scares me.
4. Some interesting details about yourself,
such as
your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I am a stay at home mother of 3 kids. My oldest daughters 6 and 8 go to school and I volunteer up t their school once a week which i take my 7 month old too, and then spend time with my sister twice a week on her wii fit. I love reading, talking on phone, cooking (sometimes), and playing on computer. I have 1 dog (butterbean) and a hubby that deals with internet.
I am always looking for new friends and support and I hope this is the place to be.
My ex just got his hands on a Wii Fit for me!!!! so excited...
I also just reordered P90X, an intense fitness program, but with Wii Fit my entire family can take part...I can't wait! To open it up on Christmas eve...may even try before!
Andrea
I have been working on the Wii for a little over a month. And I love it!!! It is something that is fun, and help hold me accountable. It is nice to be reminded when I slip a little. I have also made it a goal to not have me Mii blow up
after a weigh in. It is also nice to start seeing the downward trend on my graphs.
Hello everyone !.. I just got the wii fit for christmas and I am excited to trying on current weight is 189 and my goal for the next two months is lose 15 lbs. My ultimate goal is go all the way to 130 lbs ..
I have benn on a yo-yo diet almost all my adult life and I am going to change that .. any tips or advice would be appreciated!![]()
Me: Kristy, 25
1. Always been unfit due to medical conditions (mainly lupus). Have tried to lose weight 2x before. First time was great, but wasn't a lifestyle change so I gained it back and then some over about 4 years. I peaked in weight during grad school. Second time worked great and was more of a lifestyle change. Managed to maintain the new smaller me when I got my first job and still in grad school. Now I have graduated and hope to up the effort a bit and lose the remaining weight.
2. History with Calorie Count: Used it for my second weight loss attempt. Helped greatly because I had a way to clearly see how much I was eating and get 'graded.' For a student, this seemed to keep me doing well. I also had a weight loss buddy, but she has reached her goals and now is very busy - so I seem to be looking for a new buddy.
3. Reason for joining this group: I got the wii fit for 2 reasons. 1. Due to my medical conditions I was concerned about my balance and posture, but nothing short of a personal trainer seemed to address those 2 things specifically until I found wii fit. I am excited to make it part of my new improved lifestyle. 2. I also cannot be in the sunlight very much, so I wanted something fun I could do at home.
4. Some interesting details about yourself,
such as
your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I just graduated with my master's in mechanical engineering! FINALLY! Everyone in my family minus me and my dad is obese. I am still chubby, but I am working on just making better choices like my dad has done to stay thin. I love dance and hope to get back into it soon. Unfortunately, my cat does not like long walks, but I hope to add a dog to the family soon.
Hi, my name is Julie. I am 49 years old and I just got a WII fit for Christmas (ok, I bought it for myself). I am thrilled with it. My husband is also working out and sometimes we have to fight over it. I am really working on my balance and strength with this and I have fun with the aerobics games. But I have also found that Dance Dance Revolution II is the one that really gets my heart pumping and keeps me going for 1/2 hour easily. So I combine them. I'm also trying to eat healthier. I have three children - 27, 26 and 23. I hope to be a Grandma in the near future and I need to get in better shape so I'm around to enjoy them. My weight gain started when I got thyroid disease. It's been up adding up since them. My goal is to lose 30 pounds. You should see all my boxes of clothes I've outgrown - I really want to fit into them again!! I also have 4 dogs that keep me busy. One is at my feet now and another is snuggled up against me. I work full time (about 50 hours/week) in a very stressful job. I really want this to be a turning point in my life. Is anyone online with their WII? We can actually send our MII's to each other and even do other things online with our MII's. I haven't figured it out yet, but if interested, maybe we can start supporting each other that way also...
1. History with weight loss:
Hi I am Jan and we got the Wii Fit for Christmas. I had a lot of health issues in 2008 and my weight kept going up all year long so now I was at my all time high 222 ( 5'7") I lost 6 pouds before the holidays since I had to have surgery (gallbladder) but now back to normal and working on a short term gaol of 170 and long term of 145.
2. History with Calorie Count: Just joined last week and getting a real education about what I eat
3. Reason for joining this group:
to learn about my eating and learn about food
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interest
I am mother of 3, (24, 20 & 3) my hubby has been working out on the Wii also and we love it.
On week 2 and have not had any results yet but interested in hearing how it works for everyone.
Hello! My name is Lyndsey and I, like many of you, got my Wii Fit for Christmas!
1 & 2. History with Weight Loss and history with calorie count:
I never had an issue with my weight until my wedding, 2 1/2 years ago. I quickly went from 130lbs to 148 (or so...wouldn't weight myself after a while). I'm 5'6. I started using calorie count in May 2008. From May to August I lost 20lbs by journaling my foods and keeping my calories around 1200 per day. From August to January, I've lost another five lbs and am now content at 123. I still use calorie count to help maintain my weight.
3. I joined this group to see how other people were using the Wii Fit.
4. Interesting things about myself:
I teach Advanced Placement World History at one of the largest schools in my state (No, I'm not on the internet while I'm supposed to be teaching, I don't have students this period and all of my work is caught up). I'm married with no children, but plan on trying to get pregnant this upcoming Fall.
HI ALL ! I am 48 and I have been overweight forever - over the past year, though, because of great changes I have finally made - I have started winning the weight battle. Since last June, I lost 20 lbs and been able to keep it off. Now, I want to lose more.
My kids gave me the Wii for christmas - and just this week I have been able to find the Wii fit - I am addicted. Wii is making exercise fun. I really think that perhaps, with Wii's help and hopefully the weather getting better - I will be able to see my goal of 10lbs by the end of March!!
Good luck to all!
HI.
I just joined cc. I am 42 and have never bothered to think much about my health.
I joined cc to learn new habits as I work on quitting smoking. I know I need to do much more than just stop smoking, I need to learn how to live life differently from now. My life really does depend on it.
I joined this group because I also just bought a wii fit. I think it will really help me to have something to focus on when I am at home and craving that cigarette!
Another reason I joined cc is for support. Although my family loves me they really dont "get it". They are constantly offering me second helpings, and arguing with me about my need to lose weight. They make it hard to stay on track and keep at my goals. I know they do not intend to add to my angst. But I also recognize that it will be up to ME to keep on my toes. I am really not very good at self motivating so I hope you all will help!
Thanks for the great forum.
1. History with weight loss:
slowly accumulated extra weight over the last 10 years. made some vague efforts at cutting carbs, but to no avail. then i found CC
2. History with Calorie Count:
joined in mid june '08 and haven't looked back. i don't journal. i do count my breakfast, lunches, and snacks, but generally cut myself some slack when it comes to dinner. although recently i kept track of dinners while i was plateauing.
3. Reason for joining this group:
just pick up the fit (finally found one in the store, last one they had). would love to compare notes with others.
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests:
mother of 2 boys, 5 & 2. i'm a purchasing agent and hubby is a stay at home dad/ casual photographer. now that the baby is not really a baby anymore i'm looking forward to get back into sewing, as long as it doesn't interfere with my fit! LOL
Hi, i'm jessie
1. History with weight loss: i was a hs athlete, and when i stopped competing, i slowly gained weight. got it under control a couple times (weight watchers worked for a year) but last year worked in earnest to win a biggest looser competition at work. went from 182-135 in 4 months. and i have dipped as low as 125, but mostly heald steady at 135 since then. love counting my calories. it makes me feel steady.
2. History with Calorie Count: had an account for a year before i started using it in earnest. have been a steady user for about a year. maintaining for the last 8 months or so... but now i am pregnant... so we'll see.
3. Reason for joining this group: got hubbie a wii fit for his birthday yesterday. he is counting right now too...i have had to give up judo again (because of the pregnant thing) so i am looking for replacement activities and would like ideas about how to make the most of the wii fit
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: i have a sedntary job, a 7 year old daughter (light of my life) am 2+months preggers (not enjoying it) i go to the gym 3 times a week (although preggnant sick and tired have been limiting this) and used to go to 3 hard 2 hour judo practices each week. love hiking and camping and whatnot, but it is the wrong season for that right now :( looking for a pick-me-up
1)started weight loss and exercise in Feb 2008, joined CC end of March 2008. Reached goal in early December and still losing/maintaining.
2)joined and followed basic CC plan. Stopped strict counting and logging in August 2008.
3)I've had Wii Fit for a month and would like to chat with others with interests in this and other Wii fitness "games".
4)Divorcing mom, I have a 9 year old autistic boy who also enjoys Wii Fit. A 10 year old dog who doesn't enjoy Wii Fit. I love walking and dancing.
Hi to all! My name is Melinda and I'm 33 years old and I finally found and bought the Wii fit last month. I really enjoy the aerobics and esp. the boxing. About a year ago I switched positions at work and went from being out on the shop floor (always walking and lifting 7/8 hrs a day) to up front behind a desk. Before I never had to really watch what I ate, my job was my workout. Now, it's different. I have 2 children and take classes at night. Trying to do any kind of a workout was challenging. So, the waist size started to increase. I have gained about 25 -30lbs and want to lose it and maintain it before it gets out of hand. I joined CC last month and have been logging everyday since. I find it easier to have the will power when I see how much fat and calories I could be eating and adding to my log. (The office brought in Dunkin'Donuts this morning and I printed off the nutrition facts to place by my monitor so I wouldn't eat one!)
I know this is for Wii Fit, but has anyone tried the new Gold's Gym Cardio? I just purchased last weekend.
Hi young spratlings!
I just turned 60, I've been on CC for almost a year, I lost 20 lbs...almost...up & down...My kids gave me Wii Fit for Christmas, and it is fun. It is the only thing that gets me up off the couch after I come home from work.
My balance & posture have improved, and I did a get a little boost from the 10-15 minutes I spend per night on it. I mostly play balance games because I am pretty unbalanced (physically, too!)
My Wii Fit "age" varies hugely from one day to the next, no idea why...but I enjoy checking in each day, and some days doing a little bit more.
I work in sales support for a manufacturer, not very challenging but I've been doing it a long time. I am supposed to be working now, in fact. I spend a lot of time on CC during my dull workdays. Dear me. My kids are grown, but single. I have no pets. I enjoy sedentary amusements such as reading and video games. Wii fit is perfect for my lifestyle.
Hi there, I lost 70 pounds back in 2003 while my husband was gone to Iraq since then I have found the pounds slowly creaping on. I do not count cal anymore because I just don't I started back on how I lost the weight to begin with and that was a cross between atkins and south beach mainly I eat lean meat, salads lots of veggies and egg whites.I joined this group because I would like to lose 20 pounds although I have lost 3 doing wii fit and watching my diet. I am a daycare provider and I have 2 children of my own. My husband works out of town a lot so I needed to find a way to find so me time which is what I did buying the wii fit. I have a puppy named pepper and she is hyper and active and when my husband is home I love taking her for really really long walks to wear her out!
My daughter (18) just bought a wii fit last week and we both love it. We've gotten some other games as well and am finding that we are working up a sweat daily - which is a good thing!
We both have over a 100 lbs to lose and hope this is something that can keep us exercising every day.
Has anyone done this long term? Is it good to do everyday - or do you need to alternate with other things?
Thanks for the info. - Lorraine
Hi my name is Shirley
1. History with weight loss: I have been overweight for the last 20 years, and tried different weight loss methods, ww, personal trainer, working out at the gym.
2. History with Calorie Count: Joined CC in Sept of this year, Love the food log and journaling. I like the community feeling without having someone making you feel your not doing enough.
3. Reason for joining this group: I had knee surgery and a hysterecomy this spring and need a easier method of excercise and one that I can do at home. I live close to a recreational center but want another option. I don't drive so when it gets cold in Canada I want to be able to do some kind of activity for the winter without freezing.
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I am 51 and work in for a small regional airline in administrative area. My hubby and I care renovating our 1928 house ourselves. Have 2 grown kids that are on their own and we also have a dog & cat. We have a seasonal campsite and enjoyed doing that this summer.
