And now just go ahead and make that first post!
Hey, I'm Sarah, I'm a 21-year-old senior at the University of Alabama looking to lose about 25 pounds.
1. History with weight loss: Well, I lost 20 pounds about a year ago (down to 105), then for some reason I slowly stopped weighing myself, which allowed me to gain back about hmm...fifteen pounds from my lowest weight. Right now I'm 120. I'm not really fat, but I'm not as thin as I'd like to be.
2. History with Calorie Count: I used calorie count to lose weight the first time, and I'm starting it back up to get down to 95 pounds (I'm only 5.2 with a short frame, so that is a good weight for me)
3. Reason for joining this group: Well...I'm 20-something... and it would be nice to have the support of people my age who are in the same kind of environment. It's hard to lose weight in the pizza and beer lifestyle of college!
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: Like I said, I'm a senior at the University of Alabama majoring in political science and journalism. I really would like to get down to 95 pounds by January for my boyfriend's brother's wedding. His fiance is pretty much a tall blonde super model, and I'm sick of being the ugly one! (I'm not really ugly...but I'm no stick, and I'm certainly not leggy!)
Hey there people!
I've always been a little overweight, I guess, but nothing that bothered me too much. I just thought of myself as kind of "curvy" in high school. When I started college, though, the freshman 15 turned into about the freshman/sophomore/junior 35, but it was a gradual process so I didn't really notice myself gaining too much. Then I had a wake-up call this summer when I weighed in at 190 lbs at the doctor's office!
I knew I was overweight but I hadn't realized I was THAT overweight, so I vowed then and there that I was going to start doing something about it. I did some research, decided to start keeping a food journal, and found CC as a great site for looking up the calories in different stuff. I also really like the community here, although I tend to "lurk" more than I actively join in discussions. After losing 12 pounds, though, I've kind of hit a plateau, so maybe being more active in this group will help me keep my motivation up to get through it!
I'm 21, I'm just starting my last year in college studying English lit and minoring in Business.
Hello all! I have just recently joined CC wanting a way to count calories and really see how much I am consuming every day (which was a lot). I am currently at 170. This is my highest weight since college. I am very unhappy in my skin and am ready to get that weight off! The last time I dieted, I was going to an internal medicine doctor to get B12 shots. I got down to 148! I felt amazing, but I just couldn't afford the shots every three weeks and eating the same thing every day. Over a year, I have gained all of the weight back...bringing me to where I am now. I am a school teacher about to start the new year. I want to get new clothing, but am scared to go to the store, knowing that the size I want to wear will not fit. So the journey begins. I hope that starting school will bring me back to a schedule and will aid in the path to my thin future!
Hi Everyone!
I had attempted using a calorie counter in the past, but fell
out of it. Hopefully I can stick to this, this time...I suppose we will
see
My name is Megan and I live outside of Milwaukee, WI. Like
others in this group I have been overweight my entire life. I've done
many different things, but of course never stuck to it.
Starting in January I joined a gym, went 3-5 times a week for 3 months and then work got in the way of that routine. My plan is to get back into that and do some form exercise every day, because I certainly feel better when I do!
I joined this group because I think that like most people the
hardest part of staying on track is motivation. There will always be
bad days, or reasons to "fall off the wagon", but I think it's just as
important to keep on trying. So, I'm definitely looking to meet some
people with similar goals and keep in touch with progress and ideas.
Also, while I am up for meeting anyone, it's nice to have some people in a similar spot in life as you. This past week I celebrated my birthday (so I had many cheat days), but
at the end of July I had started eating more fruits and vegetables and
cutting carbs and caffine from my diet...pretty simple in theory but
always a challenge!
I have a little bichon whom I love, and is a great motivator for walks . I LOVE music--all types, theatre, movies, spending time with my friends, dancing, laughing, being a spectator to baseball (go Brewers!), shopping, reading, and many other things...I'll try anything at least once!
I hope to meet my goals, and to also meet some great people along the way!
Hello! I am new here. I have honestly never tried counting my calories until a friend/co-worker of mine showed me this site. I am a 24 year old college student. I went on some medication which I wound up gaining weight on and then I quit smoking last August. Since I quit smoking I ballooned! I am the heaviest I have ever been and even tho my boyfriend doesn't mind the weight gain, I do. So I decided to take charge for 3 reasons:
1. to feel better about myself
2. to be more healthy
3. my career choice (which I have 2 years until I am finished with my BS) somewhat requires that I be in good physical condition.
I have a very busy schedule, I am taking one class this semester but I work full time and I have many animals at home I tend to daily (this takes just a cpl hours out of each day). So any dieting tips or even work out tips would be wonderful! Thanks and I look forward to losing weight!
Hi all,
I've been frustrated with dieting most of my adult life. I go on what I would consider good diets i.e. eat less, burn more but can never seem to make it stick. I end up loosing 10 and gaining back 15. Right now I'm weighing in at 227.
I've been on CC off and on. It works when I use it.
Something interesting...I work in the political field, married (no kids) and live in Utah.
Hey everyone! My name's Amy, I'm a 22 year old senior at Chapman University, in California, graduating in January with a BA in psychology. I plan to start my career in sport and exercise psychology.
Growing up I was very thin, until my weight started fluctuating around my junior year of high school. My heaviest weight at 5'7" was 140-145 pounds. I lost the weight, and got down to about 118, between my sophomore and junior year of college and have since put on about 10 pounds. (I would like to lose them!!!!!)
I have been counting religiously since 2 summers ago when I lost weight. Not meaning that I actually cared about the amount of calories I was stuffing into my body though.
I'm very into sports and exercise. Family is the most important thing to me. I'm very spiritual, goofy, determined, driven, and active. I have a love for life and find pleasure in the simplest things. In addition to finishing my degree, I model for HBNB productions, I work the front desk at the Hampton Inn and Suites, and I am an in home teacher for underprivileged, at risk kids.
Hi Everyone,
My name is Sara and I live in CT. I have struggled with my weight all my life and am currently at my heaviest (184lbs). I had gotten all the way down to 116lbs at one point, but it was impossible to maintain. I put on most of my weight back on after going on the anti depressant Lexapro. I am now off the medication but find it very hard to lose weight. After some research I have found that the med kills your metabolism. I'm having a hard time sticking to any diet long enough to be able to boost my metabolism so I can see result. I do well for like 3 weeks and after seeing no results I keep giving up.
I'm new to calorie count and joined becuse some women my mom works with use it and love it. I really want to lose weight cause i know it will only get harder as I age (i'm 26). I want to be healthy and be able to look in the mirror and be happy. I have realistic goals i will never be a size two and will always be curvy. My goal weight is 150lbs.
A little more personally. I work in an alcohol and drug rehab. I have a super cute kitten and the best boyfriend i could ever ask for. After so bumps in the road life is starting to get on track. I'm finally getting my own place soon and am in a happy and healthy relationship. The last peice is getting my weight down.
Sara
Hey!
I'm a newbie, this site seems pretty nice so far. I'm 24 years old and trying my first "official" diet. I've never really tried to loose weight before or thought that I really needed to, but after looking at some recent photos, and finding out my reccomended weight to loose on here I know I need to do something about it.
Since I've never tried to loose weight I need to know how - the right way. I thought this would be a good place to get advice and support while trying. Plus by just signing up I now have a goal! I hope to meet other people trying to loose weight, and who have any helpful information to share (maybe even some recipies?! - I'm a bad cook!!).
I'm a graphic designer, and currently living with my lil' sister. We have two dogs, one jack russell and one a mix between a weiner dog and terrior. I'm single, no kids (unless you count dogs!) and a little shy until I get to know people. I love to be around people that like to laugh and make me laugh, smiling never hurt anyone! My hobbies are anything crafty or art related (scrapbooking, sewing, drawing, painting, photography...). I can't wait to get to know more people here, I hope to chat with you all soon! :D
Hi! My name is Georgina and I live in the UK. I joined CC today - never used it before but I've been on the look out for something just like this for quite some time. I'm 22 and just finished University. During the first 2 years at uni, with the drinking, late nights and grabbing anything and everything to eat when I got a chance I managed to put on over 2 stones (24lbs). I was actually over a stone overweight to begin with. In my 3rd year I made a conscience effort to watch what I ate, and generally take better care of myself.
It took me 9 months but I managed to shift those 2 stones. But I've found now that my weight has plateaued so I'm making every efort to lose the remaining stone and a half. I intend to lose this before next summer, so that I can actually wear a bikini for the first time ever!
I studied art at university, in particular photography, but I love drawing and painting. Since graduating, I've moved back home and am working as a designer in Oxford. I am currently looking for jobs in London because I am moving there with my boyfriend in February.
Hope to speak to lots of you soon

Hellooooo everyone
I'm joining the group to find support and inspiration from you all!
I've been using this site since June 2008. I haven't been that happy with my weight since college, but I felt I had enough going on for me in other areas of my life (academics, great family, activities, etc.) that my weight wouldn't matter that much in the long run. Quality over quantity, right? I didn't really care until recently when my doctor informed me that my cholesterol (specifically, my triglycerides and VLDL) were over twice the limit they should be. This news, combined with watching my father suffer from all sorts of complications from heart disease, gave me the motivation to make a change. What a nice change it's been!
I've never been skinny--except maybe before I hit puberty. I'm a small girl (5'2) who's always had curves and muscle--I'm pretty sure that I will never be able to drop below a certain weight (140), which is why I'd be happier than a pig in mud if I could drop 50 pounds to reach my freshman college weight of 156. Frankly, I'm happy that I'm in better physical shape than I ever was in high school.
As for personal details (that may or may not be that interesting): I was born in Ireland, raised in the Finger Lakes region of New York, and attended college and grad school at SUNY Albany. I'm married, living in Maine with my husband and two entertaining cats, and working as a prevention specialist in a public health department. I've got a wide variety of interests that tends to change randomly. At the moment, all I've had on the brain is anticipating the snowboarding season, a full season of TV shows not cut off by the writer's strike, and the upcoming autumn harvest (hello fresh produce!). Weird, I know, but that's me!
So... hello!
Hey,
I just celebrated my 25 bday (yay for me I guess) and I've always been "the fat kid", I think partly, it's because of my genes (pretty much the entire family is... above average.) I honestly started trying to lose weight when I was 16, so almost 10 years. I joined Weight Watchers, lost 25 LBs and went down from a size 24-26 to a size 18. I felt amazing, but then I graduated from High School, went to university and since then, I graduated, became a teacher and moved to Egypt to teach. Needless to say, Since that lovely age of 16, I have since regained that weight, thankfully not more than maybe a couple pounds. During the school year, I had managed to lost 15 pounds, and then I went home to visit family for two months, I tried to go to the gym while in Manitoba, but having been away for 2 years on and off has all of a sudden created this generosity in all of my friends (and family) to take me out for supper. yeah, I say that, and I smile, and with another 10 pounds. fannnntastic.
I don't lack self confidence on how I look. Because no matter what, I like who I am. But I want to lose weight because I know I can look better. Even after losing 15 pounds, people noticed...hell I got asked to model, which is so neat and different from feeling like a beluga whale half the time. Ha
You know what I'm bugged about? I use the internet everyday and yet, I think I'm really afraid that I'll *cough* forget to use the CC site. I'll be really good for a good...mmm... 4 weeks and then bleh, ferget it, it just doesn't work. Life's a bitch,I know ,but I fall so easy off that wagon.
My gym membership is reactive on Friday, so that's one step in the right direction.
As they say here...Inshallah I'll find the strength to not fail...yet again.
Hi Everyone!
I am 21 and when I graduated high school I lost about 80 pounds, but over the past year or so I have gained about 20 pounds back, so I would like to lose that and then some. I work a full time job and a part time job and I go to school, so it is usually hard for me to stick to a diet, but I am also very active. I have never tried calorie counting of any sort, so I am hoping this helps me to be responsible for what I consume, because most of the time I don't care what I eat, and I usually eat on the go. Well, it is nice to meet everyone :) Hope we can chat soon.
Linda
Hi! I'm Stacey. I'm 22 years old, 5'6, and 150lbs. I want to lose about 30 pounds. When i was in high school I was very thin and didn't have to try because I was very active in cheerleading and volleyball. I was always busy so I didnt have to worry about eating right or working out. Since high school my weight and slowly went up and when I hit 150 I decided it needs to stop. I don't feel healthy. I just graduated nursing school and start my job on Sept 11th. I know that will keep me busy and active. So anyways I just started dieting on the 25th (monday). I'm not going to do anything too extreme because I really am not overweight and I don't want to make myself unhealthy.
Hey, I'm Kim and I'm 22 years old. I am 5'3 and at my heaviest was 140.5 lbs. I had wanted to lose weight last year for vacation but it never happened. This year I started planning early so I would feel comfortable in a bikini by the time I hit the beach in August. I joined CC in May which helped me lose 9 of the 13 pounds I have lost so far. I started running thanks to this website (it's where I was introduced to c25k) so I am probably at the healthiest I have been in about 5 years. I was a competitive gymnast when I was younger so getting what I call a 'chub roll' around my middle really didn't sit well with me. I like this website because there is so much information and motivation and it's nice to be able to keep track of everything all at one place.
I go to school full-time and also have a full-time and a part-time job. I have my comsmetology license and am going to school for business management. I like to be busy (obviously) and would like to be healthy too. Thanks for listening!
Hi, I am Robin, a 27 year old elementary school teacher and full time student.
I joined CC in December and have lost about 50 pounds since then. I went away for 3 months and had no internet access and did not cook my own food so it was more difficult to lose weight. I have been fat my whole life, I can't remember a time when I was not fat. I am hoping that will change soon. I have been bad about counting calories recently because I am so busy (teaching takes a lot out of me and I am taking 12 units at a college about 1 hour away). I am also in a weight loss group that we call FU with my mom, sister, aunt and a couple of friends. That is fun because it is such a safe and fun group. I am really motivated to lose the weight and feel like I have done a good job so far. I think the thing I need to remember most is to get enough sleep. I tend to stay up too late and regret it in the morning. I love taking naps but that doesn't happen too often anymore. I live with my dad, his wife and her 2 sons (16 and 22). They all eat the worst food and keep crap in the house so I have a mini-fridge in my bedroom with all my food in it so I don't have to try and find healthy food in the kitchen, it is the only way I can have healthy food that is mine.
Hi guys! My name is Jacqui and I'm a 24 year old accounting clerk/bartender from Maryland.
I gained about 30 pounds in college and have since gained 10 more, so I'm trying to lose weight by eating healthier and exercising at least 5 times a week. My biggest challenge is eating out. I work in a Mexican restaurant three nights a week where we get free dinner. So hopefully I'll be able to avoid the allure of cheese enchiladas and stick with my diet! I'm also trying to avoid bars and drink less. Not only is all the beer going straight to my belly, it's killing my budget!
This week has been great so far, but this is my first night of work since I started, so wish me luck!
Hello fellow lovely people,
My name is Lauren. I joined this site to help me love my body, and take care of it, so I can live for as long as I can permit. This site tells my I am normal. But I would like to turn the bumps and funny parts on my body into parts I can stop obsessing over, or just love them. I don't work out, and I don't eat healthy. I want to be.
I hope this works. :)
Hello! I am 20 years old and a Junior in college. Let's see...
1. History with weight loss: I have fluctuated in the past three years from 118lbs to almost 138... and now I am right in the middle at 124lbs. I am 5'3" and would really love to be 115lbs.
2. History with Calorie Count: I started this past year to really try and get fit and make it a lifestyle!
3. Reason for joining this group: It was a suggestion by CC, actually! :)
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: OK... I have a weakness for graham crackers, animal crackers and icecream. And I love food! I wish I could get over it, but I just love to eat! Anyone else share that? lol... so I have 9 lbs to go, the same 9lbs I have been stuck on for this past year. UGH!
I am going to school to be an opera singer at the Eastman School of Music... I have 6 younger siblings... hmm add me as a friend! :)
