And now just go ahead and make that first post!
Hi there,
I'm a 20 year old living in the UK, i've had problems with weight pretty much since I was 10, which got alot worse when I got with my boyfriend at 15. He's got a messed up metabolism which basically means he can eat what he wants and is still stupidly skinny - and I guess I stupidly tried to keep up with his eating habits.
1. History with weight loss: I lost about a stone at the beginning of this year through the LigherLife programme. It was very good, although after the month I started getting regular nausea, as well as relationship problems as my boyfriend just didn't understand how hard it was to not eat anything at all!
2. History with Calorie Count: I joined yesterday - i'm hoping that having a fixed monitoring system will help me find a way to lose weight consistantly.
3. Reason for joining this group: It was suggested when I joined CC
4. Some interesting details about yourself,
such as
your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I'm going to be starting uni in 3 weeks time, which I'm hoping to make a fresh start with my eating habits and lifestyle. I'm quite worried that the opposite will happen though, and I will become the average student living on beans on toast, which is why I'm trying to get a grip on myself now!
Hello, I'm 21, I was overweight all through school and got teased about it constantly. I'm 5'5" and my high weight was 230 lbs right after I had my son, but usually it went from 170-200lbs on a regular basis. I joined cc in October '07 after breaking up with my son's father and watching "Super size me" (I worked at Mcdonalds at that point) I decided that I was tired of mopping about being fat and actually do something about it. Since then I hit 135lbs last May but have gained 6 lbs back, so currently I am 141lbs and want to get down to 125lbs or even 130lbs with more muscle, I just want to look good for once really. Anyway I have a new job and it doesn't revolve around greasy food but I'm not running around as much so its a trade but I would do anything to not have to work at a fast food place again. however as of now I don't have a set schedule at work so I'm getting some crazy hours and that is messing with my eating pattern. I have a 3 1/2 year old little boy and he is the love of my life. I also live with my mom, 6 cats and 1 very dumb dog.
I'm new. Joined today. Where do I start.....
I have believed myself to be fat since a day in sixth grade when we were weighed in front of everyone in gym class. My gym teacher gave me this horrified look like she couldn't believe I could weigh so much (I weighed 119. I was 5'2") I weighed more than my friends and have never felt so awful in my entire life.
I don't think people would actually guess I weigh as much as I do because I am athletic, always have been, and have learned some tricks for hiding weight with my style of clothing. (gotta love fashion magazine tips)
Anyhoo- I am 5'7" and weigh 167 last time I checked. I would love to weigh 145. The last time I weighed that I was a freshman in HIGH SCHOOL! I'm 27 now and my weight pretty much has not changed in the last 7 years, despite different workouts, diets, bootcamps, running clubs, vegetarianism, etc. etc. etc. What the hell am I doing wrong???????!?!!?!?
Oh.....I'm a labor/delivery RN- I work nights, I like to trail run, snowboard, sing loudly in the shower and love the occasional dirty martini : ) nice to meet y'all
What's with the B12 shots? does that help? I'm stuck- I'm dieting/exercising, not losing weight.......
Hi.
I'm a new member and joined a week ago. I am 21, am 5'10" and now weigh 167lbs. I've lost 3lbs this week!
Anyway, I'm from Yorkshire in the UK and work a retail job. I've always weighed more than you would think to look at me, although have been "curvy" most of my life. At the end of High School, I lost a lot of weight (about 4 dress sizes) and I would like to get back to where I was then. The difference being that the weight was puppy fat then, now it's not so easy!
My goal weight is 140lbs. My main problem is portion control, my eyes are way too big for my belly! This is why I've turned to CC. I got a bit of a kick up the backside last week when I realised I'd put on 10lbs in the last month. I've been unhappy at work recently and have been comfort eating when I get home.
So that's me! I just want to meet other members in similar positions.
I have been over weight since I was about 10 or 11 being obese runs in one side of my family but I have gotten to the point i don't believe that is a reason for me being over weight so that is partly why I want to loose weight but my main reasons for wanting to loose weight is to feel better about my self, look better, be healthier, and hopefully to be able to have children soooooonnn that is my main reason. I am currently at about 260 I am 26 recently got married almost a year a go to my sweet husband william whom i love and adore so very much the reason I joined this group is to hope fully keep me on track and keep me going with my calorie counting my new doctor recommend that i consume about 1500 calories a day 6 meals consisting of only 250 calories each i started about a month a go and I lost 10 pounds I was at about 270 to start with I had been doing well up until about the past two weeks and I dropped off my wagon so to speak I want to get to about 130 or 140 some where around there I had people tell me i was crazy to try this calorie intake that the doctor recomended that it would be hard but it has not been that bad its changing what you eat ans how much you eat and eating healthier any way enough about me every one feel free to message me
Hey stephsprad! I can totally relate with your family history. My family is "beefy", too. I want to lose about 15 more lbs. (already lost 40) because I want to be able to run after my kids without feeling like I was going to die, to walk up a flight of stairs and not get winded, and in general be in better health. I was pretty skinny until about the age of nine or ten then as my mom would say, I blew up. (Nice, I know.) I have calorie counted before and as tedious as it is it works! After about a month I really started to just be asle to run through my haed the calories of foods and tally up what I could and couldn't eat. What's the hardest thing for me is figuring out if I'm actually hungry or if I'm bored, upset, or whatever. I'm an emotional eater, obviously. The hardest times for me are when my kids go to sleep. (Nap and bed.) That's usually when my husband and I bust out all the good food. He is my biggest supporter...but my biggst hurdle at the same time. He supports all that I do, not just dieting, but then he'll sit down and eat with me. And we did alot of that when I was pregnant.
But, I am on the right track, again. I love to run so I do that twice a week, then I signed up for a step class, spin and a pilates/yoga class. I also work part time as a hairstylist and also I work at my neighborhood YMCA in the kids room so I can take my kids along with me. Hopefully, I'll be able to lose this last 17 lbs by Thanksgiving. (I'm in a wedding) And I am definitley looking for a buddy to help me do it....
I'm here whenever anybody needs me...
Hi.
just call me simplysha as some of my friends used to call me. this is not the first time i signed up with C.C., i think this is more than 10th attempt, but sad to say i always fail to maintain my account. So today, i made a new one...a good start 'coz it's september 1 huh? lolz!
Anyways, I'm 28 years old, single, working as a secretary in a real estate company. My current weight is 88.4 kg, yeah i know it's severly overweight
. I'm struggling at the moment really, first day is the worst i think. But I can do this! like all of you can do it! am right? lolz! cheers! I'm hoping that we'll all be successful on this difficult journey of LOSING WEIGHT! or LOSING FAT!
My name is Amanda and I am 24years old. I am married and have a 7year old stepson. I work at a daycare and I am going to college for Social Work. I have always had problems with my weight. I yo-yoed all through highschool, I would loose weight and gain it back with extra. I gained weight when my husband went on 2nd shift because I would cook a big dinner at 10:00pm. I lost a little when he switched to 3rd shift. Then I gained a lot of weight after starting college because I got out at 10:00pm and ate a late dinner again. I gained weight and got to my highest weight after I got married. I have tried fad diets for the last year with no results. Now I want to get back into control and Calorie Count is a great tool to help me. I am 5 foot 2 inches and I am starting out at 160. I am hoping to loose 35 pounds and get my BMI down to a healthy number. I want to loose it by February because I am in a wedding in March. If I do not reach my goal I will keep on trying until I do. Like they say- Rome was not built in a day.... I am going to try hard and count my calories everyday and work out at least four times a week. I am going to avoid candy and chocolate. I will try and reward myself every week by fitting in one baked treat into my calorie count on Fridays. That way I do not totally wipe out the things that I love to eat. I want to add more fruits and veggies into my diet. I want to avoid most bread, but I love flat breads. I figure that they are whole wheat so they should be healthier for me than white bread. Once the weight is off I want to continue to eat healthy, just not as strictly because I want to maintain the healthy weight.
Hello, I'm Cristina, 27.
1. History with weight loss: was 165.4 lbs in Apr 2006 when I joined Spark People; I was 136 lbs on my wedding day (Nov 2006). Then lost some more to a all time low at 122 lbs in Feb 2008; now I hover around 130 lbs and need to get back to 120-122 lbs
2. History with Calorie Count:none, i just started poking my nose
3. Reason for joining this group: I need a group to keep me motivated. The one on SP which was my fav pretty much disintegrated :(
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I'm a travel writer for a US company, I'm married to a lovely guy (been living together for 6 yrs out of which 2 as huuby and wife), we don't have kids; my parents live at 20 min walk from us but his parents live at 600 km from us (phuuu) ; we have 2 budgies as pets.
I shop at the farmer's market at least 2 times a week (going now after I post this!) , I eat mainly organic , I avoid red meat and the "whites". I work out 3-5 days/week.
My name is Melissa, I'm 30 (So sue me for joing the 20 somethings, I fit better here!^_^) and I just got married. I'm a college student who lives for the Friday night life. I love to dance and have fun with friends. I work at a desk job which bores me to death. I'm thinking of taking belly dance and hoola hoop classes for fun!
1. 10 years ago I went from 195 pounds to 155 in about 4-5 months. (This was partly due to walking 5+ miles with a 50lb backpack a day and a very small amount of $$ to feed myself.) I don't want to starve myself, but I know I can get there again. I just need to right tools and motivation.
2. I joined Calorie Count yesterday. I'm satisfied with the program.
3. I joined this group because I tend to identify with younger people better and I love being able to help others reach their goals. (I'd like to be your example if you let me. ^_^)
4. Didn't we cover that already??
Hi everyone! My name is Christine and I'm 25 years old.
1. I've been a "big girl" my whole life. I've been going through a lot of medical issues here lately and it's just opened my eyes to the fact that I need to take better care of myself. I don't want to be skinny, I want to be fit and healty.
2. I joined CC towards the end of July. I've been doing really well here so far, so I plan on staying for awhile!
3. Looking for people around my age with similar goals to connect to.
4. I am currently a stay out home mom of 2 beautiful lil' girls. My oldest just started kindergarten and my youngest is 8 months old. I've been with a wonderful man for a little over 3 years now. We have quite the number of pets seeing as we are animal lovers.
Hello all!!! My name is Hannah and I am 25 years old
1. History with weight loss: In highschool I was very thin- 118 at 5'6. I graduated and was married very young. I ended up at a whopping 165. I lost 10 lbs and was stuck at 155 forever. My then husband and I divorced and I finally got down to 124 again. Welp I met a new love (my now husband) and the weight came back on... I ended up at around 137. I got pregnant and just had my son on January 31st. I am trying to lose that baby weight plus the extra I gained. I am currently at 140 and would love to be back at 125.
2. History with Calorie Count: I started CC on 8/26 and have lost 8 lbs already. I started at 148 and I am currently at 140.
3. Reason for joining this group: I am hoping for support, motivation, and a place to vent frustrations.
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I am currently a Quality Assurance Analyst at a credit card processing company. I have one wonderful son named Brody and two beautiful stepsons. I love to read, ride dirtbikes, boat, and sushi!!!!!
And now just go ahead and make that first post!
Hi All, well I joined CC two days ago, so far im alot more aware of what im putting in my body, and I have worked out how to listen to my body, like when im hungry or just bored!!
I am 22, and have struggled my whole life with my weight, I have never been as heavy as I am now. I gave birth nearly a year ago, and I never lost a pound of that Baby weight, During pregnancy I put on 30kg, which at the time I thought was mostly baby weight, fluid etc, but It never left, I breastfed which they say helps you lose the weight, but NO nothing like that happened for me. My Daughter turns 1 this month and If I dont start getting healthy, im not going to be able to keep up, or even give her a fun life... I struggle walking up stairs, most of my days are spent sitting down on an extremely comfy chair which once I flick the recline switch, getting up seems like a chore.
I am looking to lose over 100lbs, The first day of my "DIET" dont like that word, umm....the first day of "the new me" (much better) started out well, i felt great, i felt motivate, then went out for tea to my fathers, tea was oversized and full of oil...absolutely delicious, but unhealthy.... well you cen guess I ate the lot plus Ice cream, yep well done me!! So my calories for the day doubled and skyrocketed over my recommened amount!! ... still have a few discipline techniques to work out!!!
Today is my second day, and so far so good, though my partner being the wonderful man he is made me breakfast, jam on toast... which calorie wise wasnt too bad, but I had decided to eat my healthy cereal, he wasn't to know and it was all in good intentions... im not worse off for it... but I am getting hungry now (wasnt substantial enough) and still have a couple of hours till lunch....
I have tried calorie counting before, but never had the appropriate tools like on here, so I failed... mind you I only tried once and it only lasted a few days... But this site makes it so easy!!
Im hoping to meet some people who can offer some words of encouragement, and who maybe I can help out as well.
Well Im happy to be here, and feel healthier already!!!
1. History with weight loss:
three summers ago i lost 30 pounds and was in great shape but stopped being active and it all came back on.
2. History with Calorie Count:
first day.
3. Reason for joining this group:
i saw a picture of me from a couple days ago that made me sick to my stomach.
Hello! This is my first time with CC. I have lost weight before but it seems like this time I just can't get motivated to do it. I would like to lose about 30 to be happy and 50 pounds to be really happy!
I am 27 years old and I am a second grade teacher. I live with my husband, two dogs, and a cat.
I joined this group for some moral support and advice. Any advice would be much appreciated!
Happy losing at all!!
Hi Everyone!
I just recently joined the site (about a month ago). I'm 24 years old and live in Seattle, WA currently. I'm trying to lose weight for the first time, and I'm having trouble with motivation (who isn't?), so I'm hoping there are some inspiring folk out there!
I actually lost some weight a couple of years ago (about 10 lbs., and due to the fact that I had 2 jobs, one of which was at a restaurant, and was going to school full time) so I didn't really have to try. Now, I work in an office.
I'm not trying so much to diet, as focus on healthier eating and PORTION CONTROL. That's my weakness right there.
Looking forward to this group!
Hi ![]()
I just joined calorie count today (for the second time, the first was very short lived).
My history of weight loss is non-existent. I have never actually set out to lose weight like I'm attempting to do now. I gained my freshman 15 after I turned 21 when I transferred to a different college. At that point I was probably at my best weight, fluctuating around 125-130 lbs at 5'3''. (God gave me a rather curvaceous body, so I don't look so good if I go below 120 lbs.. yikes). However, my freshman 15 has since turned into a new "freshman" 40. I have steadily gained weight over the past 2 1/2 years. I've tried in the past to start exercising regularly but I always fall off the wagon. I also lived with two girls in college (one who had and struggled with an ED and one who was in denile) who showed me how not to go about losing weight, and so I gained instead. I had a doctors appointment today, and when the scale read 169 I decided it's time to make a change somehow, someway. I'm currently a graduate student working to get my masters in speech-language pathology and the next two years are going to insanely busy so I figured I need to go ahead and try to adjust to a healthier lifestyle before its too late.
My weaknesses include, portion control as the lovely lady above mentioned
.. I love going out to eat (having worked in many restaurants, I really appreciate food). And beer. I live for good beer... which probably has a lot to do with my extra weightage. My biggest challenge is going to be cutting back on the beer (which should be easier since i'll be so busy with school) and getting into an exercise routine (which will be hard since I'm so busy with school).
Thanks for reading and I'm looking forward to everyone's progress!
Hi there, my name is Kristin, I am a 29 yr. wife and mother of two under the age of two. When I had my son in Feb. I checked into the hospital at 250., I lost the baby weight at first, and then a couple weeks ago, my childhood best friend said she found a picture of my husband and I, and thought what the hell happen to them, they got fat. That really got to me. I am turning 30 in April and that will also be my husband and I's 5th wedding anniversary, so we decided to lose the weight.
1. Weight loss.... In 2002 my mother passed away suddenly and I gained 30 pounds in what seemed to be over night, I was in a relationship that wasn't healthy. So one morning I woke up, told the boyfriend to move out and decided I was going to get healthy and make a new start for my life. I lost all the weight in about 4 months and was really feeling great. So I know I can do it, this time it is going to take longer though.
2. Calorie counting.....This is my first time with the whole calorie counting process, but so far so good. A week and a half into it and I have lost 7.5lbs!!!!
3. The reason.....The reason why I joined this group, is to be able to chat with other women and men going through the same process as I am at this time. Maybe find a weight loss buddy or something.
Hi, I'm Cassie. I'm a 21-year-old college student in Western New York going for a degree in English and Writing with the hope of being a freelance copy-editor/proofreader.
I'm here because I've gained 35 pounds since graduating high-school, and I no longer like how I look. I'm really interested in trying to get back to my goal weight by the time I graduate in May of 2009.
1. History with weight loss: I have a really disappointing history. I have tried countless times to lose weight, but my motivation and will-power are much too lacking. I'm hoping that if I can become more a part of a community, then that will change...
2. History with Calorie Count: I just joined this week. See above question.
3. Reason for joining this group: I'm hoping that I can find other college students out there who can give me a few tips for navigating a school cafeteria. ;)
4. Some interesting details about yourself, such as your job, your family, your pets and your interests: I'm currently working at my college's library at the circulation desk. I absolutely adore books, reading, and writing. This past summer I worked as an editorial intern at Zondervan Publishing House.
