Hello everyone!  I am so glad to be in a group of 30+ because we all know it gets a little tougher as the years creep up on you. I am new to CC and want to make sure I stay connected and accountable!

So, here's the scoop on me.  I have been overweight most of my life with many ups and downs.  I lost 60 pounds in college (the wrong way) and managed to keep it off for quite a few years until I had a bad marriage.  All the weight came back and then some.  About 7 years ago (post divorce) I got serious about losing weight again and 5 years ago I met my second husband.  After 3 years of marriage some of the weight has come back but I am determined to win the battle!

Ok here are my stats: I am 5"6' & I am 39 years old.  My starting weight was 237, current weight weight is 224, & my short term goal is to get to 180 with a long term goal of 160.  I just want to be healthy and feel good.

What else is there to know? I work for a large bank as a Product Manager in Corporate Marketing. I do not have any children but I have chihuahua and a pug that consider me "mommy".  My interests include reading, reality TV shows, playing WOW (World of Warcraft), and enjoying a Bombay Sapphire Martini with good friends!

Hi There!  I just turned 34 Surprised and have been a member of Calorie Count since 2006 and have to admit that I haven't been really active in the forums, but I sure do read them for encouragement.  I'm  excited to join this group of 30+ and hope to be able to share ideas, help each-other with our struggles and best of all, encourage one another to continue our health oriented goals.

I'm 5.1 and weigh-in at 113 lbs. and I'm looking to shed the 5 lbs I've managed to gain in a month!  I struggle with the fact that people don't understand how I can complain about my weight; but the reality is that I'm really short and when you add a couple of lbs. to a petite frame; you notice it right away and it causes fatigue and this in-turn makes it difficult to find that energy to actually work-out and make better eating choices; which is where I am right now!

I'm married with no children, but we do have a 4 year-old cat named Buttons.  I work on Grants Administration for a non-profit Research Institute.  My hobbies include reading, biking, and dancing.  I'm looking forward to getting to know all of  you 30+ out there Smile

Hi everyone!

I am 31 and have been a member of Calorie Count for about 4 weeks now.  I really look forward to talking with others about this journey!

I am 5'4" and currently 187.5.  My highest weight I know of was 250, but I know I gained more before I finally decided to do something about it.  That was about 6 years ago.  I got down to 225 or so and plateaued then gave up for another year.  I tackled it again and got to 200 and dislocated my knee and tore my miniscus.  OUCH!!!  While on crutches and doing physical therapy I gained back 15.  We moved (hubby is Air Force) and I have been working on it over the last 3 years, and have gotten down to 187.5.  My short term goal is to be out of the obese category on the BMI chart.  I would like to be 130-140 I believe.

As I mentioned earlier I am an Air Force wife.  My hubby and I have had the privilige of living all over!  We have 2 amazing daughters that are 8 and 10.   I am a Title I paraprofessional at an elementary school.  I love my job!  I have been at our school for 2 1/2 years but in this position for 1 year.  My daughters attend the school also, which is also a bonus.  I can work and stay involved with them.

My favorite workouts are Biggest loser Cardio Max and Power Sculpt , and the Slim in Six series with Debbie Seibers (I just use the workout not the diet portion of it.) I also use the elliptical and walk when I don't feel like a video.

Hello everybody!

Hope you're all having a great caloric day!  Laughing

I'm 32 years old.  I've lost 47 lbs since January 1.  I'll be the first to admit that it wasn't all healthy weight loss, but I have changed my eating habits and exercised.

Since January 1, I found out that my husband (ex now) had an affair and my mother passed away this year.  (gained 4 lbs. over that)

I gained a LOT of weight during my marriage (30 lbs in 5 years), so I'm excited to have taken that off plus some.  I'm still 20-40lbs. from my goal weight.

I joined this group to socialize and have a support system of people who understand what I'm going through and understand my goals.  I'm at a dangerous zone because I feel great.  Typically, when I hit this stage, I slow down and become content.  I'm hoping that this group/forum will allow me to stay motivated and commit to making this a life change.

Have a fantastic day!

Hi, I'm Elizabeth, 32 y.o. and weighing in at 136.  I really want to get down to 128 over the next couple of months.  I typically lose fat quickly but for some reason right now it's not coming off.  I'm back in a really intense weight training program and I'm beginning to wonder if I'm putting on muscle so quickly that the scale won't budge.

But I can tell that the fat isn't coming off as quickly.  I eat very well, focus on mostly lean meat protein and vegetables, dairy, low carb/high protein shakes, some fruit and very little starch.  By starch I mean bread, pasta, rice and potatoes.  So I'm still getting some carbs, just not the empty ones from starch.  I eat a high protein/low carb/low sugar breakfast bar for breakfast each day and try to make it a whole grain one so that I get some whole grain in my diet.  Amy thoughts on why I might not be shedding the fat?

Hello, all...I'm Sherry, but everyone calls me Gigi since my nephew coined it when he was learning to talk...I'm new to CC, only been here a week or so, I'm 37, and I'm starting at 240-I lost about 50 pounds last year just walking after work, and I'm trying that along with a better diet again-I'd like to be about 140-145 but CC says my goal weight is 135-and I'm 5'5"...

Interesting things about me...hmmm, I have two girls, 13 and 6, I just moved in with my boyfriend after 5 years of being single or having a roommate so life has definitely changed. My favorite workout is putting on my music and going for a walk, I live in a hilly area so that works well for me, but I'd like to add a little muscle toning with dumbbells...I gain weight in my hips and legs so I'm not exactly proportioned...

Anyway-just wanted to say hello and good luck!

Thank God 4 a group in my age range!!!

I'm in the same boat as schacon... only 5.0" and now at 117lb. I'd like to drop a few more lbs but it's hard with my body changing after 30.  I join this grou b/ we are all going through the same body changes - none better to undestand and give a lil' suport.

Take care!

Hello everyone --

I'm 32 y.o. mom of two kids (11-month girl, 2-year-old boy).  Am 5'5" medium build, and started CC this past April with a weight of 183.  Losing weight is slow-going for me due to lack of discipline, but I'm still optimistic because when I do what I'm supposed to, I really do see results.  My current weight is 173.  I would like to get it down to:

  • 170 by Friday's weigh-in for a challenge I'm in [edit: NEXT Friday!]
  • 165 by mid-September for my fifth wedding anniversary
  • 160 by mid-October for a reunion with some friends
  • 150 by New Year's
  • 140 by March 2009 for my 33rd birthday!

I'm looking forward to checking in with other 30-somethings over how to lose weight when your metabolism has changed, when you're working a desk job instead of college/food service jobs, when your main source of activity during the day is running to grab your toddler before he steps on the baby, and when you would dearly love to join that gym or YMCA class but your childcare expenses are keeping it out of your budget, and besides, you'd have to line up a babysitter to stay with the kids anyway, right during their bedtime no less.

Speaking of toddlers and whatnot -- if anyone has any miracle solutions to dinner ideas that would work for adults and toddlers plus could generally be cooked in about 20 minutes (factoring in that said toddlers will be clinging to the cook), that would be lovely.

Hi everyone!

I am 34, married, mom of 4 (13 yr boy, almost 10 yr girl, and 6 yr twin boys).. I am about 5'4" and currently weigh about 165.. I started CC at the end of this past April with a starting weight of 186..   I was probably closer to 200 last winter, but didnt have a scale then. I have not really set a time-line for my weight -loss, but I put my goal at 123 ( I have a smallish medium frame).. and I am not really so hung up on reaching any particular number with my weight, I just want to be healthy and fit.. lots more muscle and lots less flab.

So far I have had my ups and downs with trying to drop weight.. fell off the wagon a few times already- mostly when we go on vacation or out of town.. but trying really hard to stick with it.. I try to eat 1400- 1600 cal/ day.. sometimes go over, sometimes am even under..I started out doing some fitness dvds at home, and now am participating in the C25K.. We are getting a new YMCA in our town and it opens next month, so I am looking forward to that!

Hey, I'm this is Michael i'm 32 and i have just calorie count on tuesday 8/19. this is my first time joining a weight loss site, but an ex recommended it to me and i decided to give the group support thing another shot, as will power is a problem. I have always been a big guy, 6'2 280 size 13 shoes by age 13.

i have lost 30lbs with weight watchers but the meeting were too girly socer mommish for me and i didn't feel comfortable.  i think this site and all of you can help to serve the same purpose of mutual support.

about me, i'm recently single, but happy, with no children, and a cat named porkchop, i work on program admin and compliance for the USDA, i freelance photog and do original artwork in y spare time. I like to travel, party and i have friends all over the country.

i've been label conscious for years now if i can just log all of the calories from drinks on the weekend i'd be great!!

hi i am genea (note the non creative user name :-)  and I am 35. for the last 7 years the pounds have really crept up on me... that was when i had my daughter.  my son, now 10, really didn't have as much effect on me.  but really, weight loss has been a struggle since I was a depressed teenager.  I have been/felt beautiful in the past -- but never svelte. :-)  ha!

i just got back from a nude beach with my hubby and the photos really motivated me to want to change the 'woman in the mirror'. ouch -- it's hard to be the 'fat girl' when all of your friends are slim.  and i am not exagerating or being down on myself:  i started at 198 lbs at 5'4" and many of my friends are size 4s.  ew.

my mother lost an entire person with the Lap Band procedure but i know she is not really healthy. i told myself early on I wouldn't be a yo yo dieter with pills or surgery -- I want to be healthy for my family and sexy for myself (and my hubby, of course :-)

weight goals:

195 lbs today 8/22

177 lbs by Halloween (18 lbs in 9 weeks)

165 lbs by Christmas (12 lbs in 8 weeks)

145 lbs by St. Patricks Day (my bday!) (20 lbs in 10 weeks)

130 lbs by first of June -Summer is my goal to start maintaining!- (15 lbs in 10 weeks)

I really think i have ambitious goals... but without CC I wouldn't have been able to closely track my progress, so now I think they are totally doable. For the first time I ever I went out and bought a scale -- and then a new kitchen scale!

Hi all!

I am 36 and 5'4" tall. I just weighed in at the doctor yesterday at 215. Embarassed

Two years ago I was diagnosed with exhaustion and per doctor's orders 'took it easy'. Well, I think that my metabolism stopped completely because I gained 35 pounds in 6 months. I tried the Fat Smash Diet (first diet ever) and was able to lose about 15 pounds. Then I found out I was pregnant. During the pregnancy I went from 160 to 195. Now, a year later, I find myself another 20 pounds heavier than I was at the end of my pregnancy!! I don't know how on earth it happened. I eat well and get exercise, and more so since two months ago I went to the doctor and weighed 210! Aaagh! And since then I've managed not to lose, but to GAIN 5 more pounds!! Double Aaagh!

So, today I signed up for Calorie Count. I'm hoping that being able to track what I'm eating and doing will help me see where I am going wrong. I seriously thought I was on the right track until I saw that scale yesterday.

I'm still breastfeeding the wee one, so a seriously low calorie diet is not feasible at this point, but I'm hoping against hope that there is a way to get the poundage going down instead of up.

hi my name is lucy, i justjoined today, im 33, 5ft 7 114lbs and i have an eating disorder, im just starting to get help, got my next appointment on 4th sept, and im terrfiered, i know i need to put on a bit of weight but it scares me, as i feel too fat now, i know you will think im mad everyone does!. it started last year after having my thyriod gland removed, i put on nearly 2 stone and went up to 14 stone, i dicided to join weight watchers and was doing really well, but its got outa hand, gone to far.

Hey everybody, my name is Steff and I am 33 and single. I only just signed up with CC last week and I hope to find people that will encourage me to not indulge so much and stick to my good healthy diet.

I'm 5'9" and my current weight is 185 lb and I was shocked when I found that out. Over the last 10 years I have not had a scale and I always went by the fit of my pants. Well, obviously, I noticed that I gained weight when I had to by bigger pants, but I always had the excuse of me getting older.

I consider myself lucky that I am an hourglass shape, so you wouldn't really notice the pounds, because I never had the love handle problem and my waist stayed fairly slim over all the years, but just recently I noticed belly fat and I needed to know how far my indulging in cakes and chocolate had taken me. So I bought a scale and received the devastating result.

I am generally a healthy person, I dance, I work out and I do really eat healthy. But I do tend to eat too much and I do tend to eat when I am bored, upset, etc. And chocolate is my biggest temptation.

I will join a gym next week and I have put myself on a diet, which I hope I can keep up and get myself down to 143 - 145 lbs.

Looking forward to meeting you all!

Hi there everyone, my name is Lisa I am 31, married ( to a wonderful supportive man), I am a mother of 2 and my husband has 3 from a previous marriage.  My oldest is 12 and my youngest is 8.  I gained weight with my second pregnancy back in 99.  Before then I was healthy at 5'5'' 135 lbs.  I never lost the "baby weight" and have noticed recently that each year I seem to be adding 5 lbs to my already stressed frame.

I joined cc.com a few months ago and did lose a little weight, but for whatever reason didn't stick with it.  I am hoping that my joining this group I will meet some interesting people and help motivate someone else as I need much motivating.

hi everyone! My name is Donna.  I am 36 years old and the mother of a beautiful 16 year old daughter. I am a registered nurse of one year.  I have gained over 45 pounds over the last year.  You would think with all the walking I do at work, I would lose weight, but noooo.  But I realize I eat out of habit not hunger, and I eat way to much JUNK food.  I can use all the support I can get.  I work 12 hour shifts so I don't feel much like working out when I get home.  I know I need to let the diet mountain dews go and start drinking water Cry.  I really want to get back into my size 10 jeans and out of these dreadful 16s. HELP

Hello everyone. I am a 30 year old female with a 14 year old step son and a 2 year old. I currently weigh 126. In the past year I have gained 8 lbs and have no idea how to get it off! I joined CC a few weeks ago but so far I haven't seen any weight loss. I have an active life style but tend to eat all the wrong things on the weekend. We are usually camping every weekend on our river property. Between the bad food choices and the alcohol I am not getting anywhere. I need some motivation and advice if anyone has any! Please help!!

I can totally relate to you!  Just when I am doing good with eating, bam the weekend hits and hello campground-hello Miller Lite!  I am not "fat" by most people's standards, I am just unhappy with myself.  I have not one but two weddings that I am in during the month of September, and I need to get trimmed down and put away the gut!

Hello everyone.  I am 30 and lovin it!  I do not much like the looks of my body and I want to get it in shape for the two weddings that I am in during Sept.  I have a great husband and two children, who are very supportive.  My husband says he likes my body everyday, but I am unhappy with it!  I am determined to get toned up and look good (by my standards) by the time the weddings come!!
