And now just go ahead and make that first post!
I am Lisa and I am 39 and now weigh 190 but I weighed 277 a year ago. It was the heaviest I have ever been and got there as a result of loss in my life. Two family members passed away, my 3 1/2 year old son (now 5) lost his eye to cancer, and my 11 year marriage ended. I was ready to make a conscious choice to do something about it, or risk gaining more. I went to a personal trainer and the rest is history.
But I haven't learned my lesson, and I have started the slippery slope of gaining weight back. See, my goal is to break 160. And although it is only 30 lbs away, I think I have given up. I am trying everything get back to that same drive I had before. I am a serious emotional eater!! I hope that by joining CC I have another tool to help me out. Specifically the support by connecting with other people and reading about their experiences. Let's face it, a lot of us could write a book about weight loss because we all know what to do. It is just doing it that is the problem and I often don't know why that is the hardest thing to do in the world!
Hi everyone,
I'm Shannon and I'm new to CC and this group. I'm here because I need that little extra support and motivation to lose ten pounds I've gained since June.I'm 5'1" and currently weigh 112. I've got a petite frame so my healthy weight is about 102.
I've always struggled with my weight. I was an overweight kid, all the way through college. In my early 20s I got down to a healthy weight but then slid into anorexia. I was underweight until my late 20s when I gained about 40 pounds, putting me right back where I started. I lost the weight and as of last fall was down to my healthy weight again. Starting in June I began gaining weight from serious overeating. That's been steady, resulting in a gain of about ten pounds.
In addition to just losing the weight, I'm hoping to simply get back to a healthier lifestyle, especially in terms of my eating. I used to eat super healthy and have completely fallen off the bandwagon. I've been trying to turn things around on my own for a while now and it just hasn't been working. I'm hoping the extra accountability and support here will help me stay on track.
Miscellaneous info: I'm a librarian and I love to run.
I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone!

Hello all, im 38 years old married with 2kids. Im 6 foot tall and 297 lbs, my goal is to be 200 lbs. 3 months ago I was 344 lbs, started a 1600 cal diet and lost a little over 45 lbs within that time. I was consuming 3500 cal a day prior to my wieght loss with hardly any excercise. But thanks to this website I have manage to properly count my calories and educate myself about the foods I eat. I just started a Low-Carb diet 5 days ago and its going pretty good! I am still on a 1600 a day calorie limit but with a 20g carb a day max. I also drink 60 oz of water a day and take a multivitamin. If anyone has any tips or ideas to help improve my diet please let me know. Thanks!
Hi everyone ^_^ I just turned 34 earlier this month.
I'm 5'3" and weigh somewhere between 150-155lbs (I need a new scale). My goal is to get to a healthy, fit 120lbs in time for swimsuit season 2010. :o
My current job keeps me sitting at a computer for 8hrs a day, and one of my hobbies is gaming so there's more hours on my bum. I've started back to the gym recently, bought a workout video designed to help with the lower body and am trying to keep track of my calories here.
I've tried tons of diets over the last several years, which is when I started packing on the pounds, and calorie counting is the only thing that seems to work for me.
I've cut carbs, alcohol and soda out completely from my diet, and I'm trying to work on my sweet tooth now. >_< It's very hard, because I LOVE sweets, but I want to be in shape again and I know it has to be done.

Hi Group! :)
My name is Catharina (Kat for short). I'm a CC member since 2006. I joined CC because it has tools to help me with my goal: achieve a healthier and fitter lifestyle.
I tried a lot of crazy and what I thought back then was smart (in other word: dumb) things in dieting and exercising. Then I came across CC. Counting calories used to be a nuclear science to me until I discovered how simple it was with the tools provided here.
Not that I was ever obese, I did cross the overweight border when I reached 125 lbs for a 5' 2" Asian woman with petite frame and body fat 28%. I also have reached an all time low at 98-100 lbs during my depression. My weight now hover around 105-108 lbs and my goal now is to increase my fitness level and stay healthy.
I like to be and stay active, and I love eating and cooking. I am a graphic and web designer, so by trade I sit a lot in front of a computer (with snacks within reach).
Now I start shifting my focus more to the fitness industry, something that I love and has become part of my lifestyle. I am getting my group exercise certification for kickboxing (Turbo Kick) in 2 weeks; I used to exercise in front of my TV, now making the trip to group exercises in the gym.
I used to park my butt down and stare at the TV screen playing games for hours (I am a geek), now I use the time to do more physical activities (or play Wii Fit). My recent excitement was my participation in an upcoming workout DVD by Beachbody! That really got me fired up!
A lot of peeps thought it was easy for me to be where I am now. Most of my friends actually much younger than me - average mid 20s, so about 10 years younger... Where as their body still burn like a fire engine, mine has to be continually stoked.
So I think it's really cool to join this group, to be with my peers so to speak :) I'm sure people here understand my gripes and whines, and can provide appropriate support. I will also do my best to chip in my 2-cents and support for others. Nice to meet y'all!
Cheers!
Kat.
Hi Group-Brandon FL here.
My name is Lisa, I am 33 years old. Over the past year I have lost 80lbs and continue on to my goal of losing 21 more lbs. It seems like the last of it seems the hardest. Anyone else having this problem?
I work out 5 days a week, and am pretty much stay on track there. I can exercise until I pass out, but I always have issues with the eating. I haven't gained any weight back, but seems like I have come to a stand still, and the more it goes on the more frustrated I get with it.
I try eating 5-6 small low calorie meals per day, but birthday parties, regular parties and now the holiday's coming out will be the most challenging.
I would like to get the rest of this weight off by my birthday, which will be in February.
Hello everyone,
I am 32, 5 .4 1/2", a mother, wife and college student. I currently weigh betweebn 163-and 160. Over the last three years after tacking a job as a secretary I have gained over 15lbs and I struggle to get it off. I have tried slim fast, exercise and counting calories, but it all seem to fail because of my lack of motivation. My goal weight is 145 however I would settle for just losing 10lbs. I want to lose the weight because I want to be in good health and besides I can not wear any of my clothes. In the past the highest my weight would go is 160 now it exceeds that. In the past I lost the weight through weight watchers which is really expensive and I maintained that for about 2 years.
I stated CC in April and lost 5lbs, but I lapsed back to bad habits. This is a dynamic site. I joined this group because I am sure there are others who are experincign some of the things that I am. I am hoping that I can find individuals who will be willing to talk me through as I embark on this challenge.

I’ve always been a bit over weight! I had a lot of issues with it in high school. Some people called me “big boned” when in fact I was about 130 pounds, but of course I thought I was “fat” So I lost 20 pounds by not eating most days. When I got pregnant with my 1st son I didn’t care about my weight. It was easy to lose the 40 of the 50 pounds I gained as did after my next 2 boys. Then I got pregnant with our daughter and got married! Well I gained another 50 pounds, but it took longer to lose. Last year I finally changed my diet and lost the weight again. Well, my dad had a heart attack and the Dr. said it was due to smoking. I decided then and there to quit. I haven’t had a cigarette since August 04, 2009!! But it seemed as if I had lost a good friend. I was sad. So when I’m sad I eat. I was 198 pounds a couple weeks ago! I have only been there once! When I was pregnant with the
Princess! I feel out of breath just like I did when I smoked. Hubby also quit smoking and gained weight. We were talking a couple weeks ago about losing weight together. I was a bit shocked he even wanted to try. He also decided to give up all beer!! It’s been a struggle, but hey we are doing it.
I’m 33 and decided to join this group ‘cause it seems as though turning 32-weight control has become non-existent!! I’d like to meet others with the same problem.
I’ve been a dog groomer for 4 years and love it. Anything to do with dogs is fun for me. We have a 6-year-old Pit Bull, 2 4-year-old Chihuahua ‘s, a 2-year-old Chihuahua and a 2-year-old Lhasa Apso. We also feed the stray cats in the neighborhood, 3 of which we have named Angel, Bailey and Chris.
Hope to get to know some of you soon,
Windy
Hi !
I am 31 years old and I have quit smoking twice and both times I gained about 20 pounds each. Windy 33 it is like losing a friend and it is sad at first but after a while it goes away and then your realise how good it feels not to smoke. I think the weight gain from smoking is also because you get your taste buds back, everything just seems to taste soooo much better without the nicotine taste in your mouth. I lost about 15 pounds since I gained the weight from quitting smoking but whenever I get close to my goal weight is when I pack it in and start piling it back on again. Its a viscous cycle for me and that is why I wanted to join this website to get some support with people my age. I do so good during the week but blow it all on the weekend. I am originally from Canada moved to Scotland last year and now I am living with my fiance in Nuremberg Germany as we are on a delgation for his company. We are getting married this May and I would like to lose about 15 pounds for my wedding day. I am hoping this site will give me the support and control I so depserately need. I too have tried every diet in the book-and nothing seems to work for me so I am giving this ago one last time....

okay guys, here's a little twist for you: i'm actually trying to gain weight. i'm 34 years old, 5'8" and about 119 lbs. I've been rock climbing for about 4 years so i have a deceptively athletic build, but i'm still and always have been the skinny guy in the crowd. according to my doctor i am in perfect health, however i guess you could say i have some self-esteem issues from being so slender; granted the women i've dated in the past have always been really awesome so maybe it's just in my head.
unfortunately i've been going through some extremely painful heartbreak in the last few months, but i've decided to get back on my feet and finally do this. My goal is 135lbs, so roughly a 15 pound gain. Ideally i'd like to to be 15 pounds of muscle, so starting this week i'm going to start lifting weights and eating about 2500 calories a day, which is probably more than double what i normally eat.
Well, good luck to everyone.
Ben
I am 31, will be 32 on December 2. I weighed 241 this morning.
About eight years ago I lost a lot of weight, I was down to a size six or four, and very active and healthy.
I met my husband and gained it all back over the next five - six years.
I still consider myself fairly active. I walk my dogs three times a day, and work at a very active job (though to be fair I work less than 20 hours a week).
I want to have a baby before it is too late. My husband wants me to be healthy when we try to conceive. So I made a deal with him that I would get down to a size ten (from 20 right now) before we try. So that is my major motivator. I hope that once I get down to a ten, an have a healthy and active pregnancy, I can lose the additional pregnancy weight and get back down to my ideal weight of 120.
I hope. I am going to try and be active on this board and the 100+ board.
Usually I just read forums, but I think being able to talk to others in my weight loss will help me. Plus keep me accountable for myself and my weight loss.
I have been with CC since July and have lost 13 pounds since then. I just had my fourth baby in April and was up to 185 when I delivered. I'm now 145 but I would love to be back to my pre-baby weight of 125.
I've always been small framed with problem areas. I have danced ever since I was three, but stopped after I got married. Dancing kept me thin, but left me with body image issues. There's a part of me that would love to be 114 pounds like I was when I danced, but I know 125 is healthier.
I joined this group because I've found that losing weight after your thirty really is harder and I love having people that understand.
As for my interests, with four kids my interests are mostly family. I also love photography, video editing, being outside, and dance.
Hi everyone!
I just joined CC after finding out I am now 158 pounds. This came as a shock to me as I usually manage to stay around 135-145 pounds and have never strayed from that before. I used to be curvy, but slim. Now I am just curvy. ![]()
I have not really changed my (relatively healthy) eating habits and have not exercised less than before, so I attribute this weight gain to that after-30-effect I hear others mentioning here... I look forward to learning from all of you who are in a similar situation.
In April 2010 I am getting married and so it is high time I get back on track. I believe I mainly need to exercise more, but maybe that will not be enough. We'll see!
